At that moment Shadow Devil went from horrifying to laughable.
Wait... Zero is able to blast Vile's Ride Armor's arm CLEAR OFF with one shot in the intro stage, but is easily defeated by the SAME RIDE ARMOR in the first Sigma Fortress? AND he has to SELF DESTRUCT just to destroy that Ride Armor? Uh... consistency much? I'm sorry, but that inconsistency just sort of ruins it for me...

The Zero and ZX series had some crazy tough bosses. I know a lot of people didn't like them but it was great having all of the abilities that you did. Plus powering up was like going Super Saijin! Oh and Battle Network's second game(s) had some interesting robot masters.
I freaking LOVED the final boss of MMZ4 - even more so than the showdown of X vs Zero in MMX5. The setup of the fight in MMZ4 was just that awesome, and the music was so epic! I mean, how many games you can count where you are a badass robot with a laser sword, fighting another badass robot-ish boss, standing on a debris falling from atmosphere?!

Really saddening that omega didn't make the cut.
Personally, I would've placed Megaman X in number one for the following reason: You play X-X3 and Zero is the ultimate badass, you want to be like him, but the games also point towards an inevitable fight, in X4, you fully get to play as him, but me, as a young kid, loved it but couldn't, he was hard to use. Enter Megaman X5, the fated battle comes to pass, and I went in as X as I still couldn't use Zero properly, the battle was amazing, challenging and the music was so damn incredible, that to this day it is my ringtone, I just can't put into words how badass it is. For many years, that was it, I never even tried using Zero, and naive young me never thought what would happen if I went as Zero. Until one day, I did. Holy shit, seeing X as a boss was MINDBLOWING, I couldn't believe it, there was no way it could be more intense! ...and then he equips the Ultimate Armor and starts using X4's CHARGED weapons. Beautiful. It still sends chills down my spine.

If you're just getting one, get Megaman 3. The slide helps make combat more diversified and the robot master weapons are pretty balanced. While Megaman 2 was when the series started to hit its stride, I feel it's very overrated and that it really only holds its own against the later titles because they were built on it. Plus, the metal blade is very overpowered and the game is pretty short. It's still a great game, I just recommend 3 more. To answer your question on Mario 3, it is hailed as the best simply because it was the first to really refine the formula. Similarly to Megaman 2, people feel the need to praise it for being the first rather than on pure design and quality.

XP just played through mega man and mega man 2 for my first time using the eshop versions for 3ds it had a special feature where you could save whenever you want and go back whenever you want and it still took me all day! Whatever it was still super fun and I can't wait to play mega man 3 tommorow! :D

I remember when I got to the boss at number one of this list, what I think I had the same reaction, minus the screaming because it was 4:30 AM and my parents would probably be worried if I was wail screams of anger at that hour. But I wailed on the inside.
I really expected Mecha Dragon to be on this list. A robotic dragon chasing you while you jump across falling platforms makes for one of the most tense and coolest boss battles of the series.
LOL I can't even count how many times I've played through MM2 and never ONCE have I noticed that Quick Man's head-decorations extends outside the border - and I have a strong suspicion that, until Inafune-san point it out to us, neither did anybody else. Timeman and Oilman from Mega Man Powered Up (The PSP redub of Mega Man 1) were really cool additions, I thought, and their powers are awesome to use. I mean, you can slow down time, and create an oil-slick skateboard that lets you travel super fast. That's how you remake a game.
If Wily discovered a new element he could have just been recognized for a Nobel prize and all this fighting could have just been avoided.

Always thought the Megaman Zero series was the best. The speed and Rpg elements make it a joy to play, the story was pretty good and the weapons were great. I will always hold Megaman Zero Collection as one of my favorite games ever.

I personaly say that Dr. Wiel from Zero 4 is one of the best final battles in megaman, followed EXTREEEEMLY closely by the fight with Omega in Zero 3

I never played a megaman game in my life, but I decided to download one on my 3ds and try the series out. I wanted to ask you, which megaman game do you think is the best? 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, X, Xtreme or Xtreme 2? Is it considered the best based of nostalgia? The problem is i remember hearing and reading that super mario bros 3 is considered one of,if not the best mario game ever. So I downloaded it on my 3ds. I realized that the main reason why it was liked was because of nostalgia. Almost every mario game is better imo. Sorry smb3 fans. So, why is it considered the best?

If you're just getting one, get Megaman 3. The slide helps make combat more diversified and the robot master weapons are pretty balanced. While Megaman 2 was when the series started to hit its stride, I feel it's very overrated and that it really only holds its own against the later titles because they were built on it. Plus, the metal blade is very overpowered and the game is pretty short. It's still a great game, I just recommend 3 more. To answer your question on Mario 3, it is hailed as the best simply because it was the first to really refine the formula. Similarly to Megaman 2, people feel the need to praise it for being the first rather than on pure design and quality.
***** I understand that it was good at its time of release, but now all of the other "super mario bros games" such as nsmb wii and wii u are far more superior than smb 3 in many ways. I honestly dont understand how people like it. Ok super mario world is old but the game is so fun. I wont say it is the best or one of the best, but it was and is still fun to play.
I would recommend megaman 4, however I might be biased as it was my first I played in the classic series. I think you should go with 6.

XP just played through mega man and mega man 2 for my first time using the eshop versions for 3ds it had a special feature where you could save whenever you want and go back whenever you want and it still took me all day! Whatever it was still super fun and I can't wait to play mega man 3 tommorow! :D

I really expected Mecha Dragon to be on this list. A robotic dragon chasing you while you jump across falling platforms makes for one of the most tense and coolest boss battles of the series.

LOL I can't even count how many times I've played through MM2 and never ONCE have I noticed that Quick Man's head-decorations extends outside the border - and I have a strong suspicion that, until Inafune-san point it out to us, neither did anybody else. And those who DID likely thought nothing of it whatsoever XD

Timeman and Oilman from Mega Man Powered Up (The PSP redub of Mega Man 1) were really cool additions, I thought, and their powers are awesome to use. I mean, you can slow down time, and create an oil-slick skateboard that lets you travel super fast. That's how you remake a game.
