I’ve been a victim of abuse by a catholic priest almost 20 years ago but will never leave the Church left behind by Christ. If I did I would be giving the devil his satisfaction. That is what he wants us to do. I’ve learned to forgive and know that no one is perfect and would not idolize any priest. They are human just like me and are bound to fall. I pray for all the victims to find healing.
joyce Nderi May God bless you and be with you, always. Thank you for your mercy and your courage. Your message has touched my heard and I couldn't help stop the tears from falling out. I too pray for the victims and for all Church leaders.
joyce Nderi - I honour your ability to speak-out. I hope that hearing "someone" apologise to you for what happened, will help you. Ideally we want the abusers to grow-a-back-bone" and make their own profound apologies - but that may never happen for some - so I say to you now - My profound apologies for what you have endured - may you find love and peace in your life from now forward. It is so difficult to speak out and even more difficult to forgive - with forgiveness there eventually will come a sense of relief and peace. By holding on to the memories and re-enacting in your mind the sights/sounds/feelings of shame and pain only makes you suffer over and over. Letting-go releases you, and so, let God deal with the abuser in the Good Lord's own time.
I love how strong you are. The world is brutal against believers. I will keep you and all others in my heart and my prayers. There is nothing I can say to help your pain; i can only offer my prayer to you
"We are not Catholics because of the moral excellence of our leaders (God help us if we were). We are Catholics because of Jesus Christ, crucified and risen from the dead." Thanks for your words, Bishop. I really needed to hear those words. Greetings from Brazil.
@Damian beyond the nationalities, we are brothers in Our Lord Jesus Christ. May God bless us all and confirm our faith in His Church in this dark hour.
@@thomasanderson1416 Yes. In communion with the pope...not in communion with God. The church is not God. The pope does not stand in God's place. God stands alone. Our loyalty shoyld be to God..not a religion.
We are Not Unarmed in this war ! WE are the Church Militant and God Almighty has given us a most powerful array of Weapons with which we can defeat the Enemy. The Most powerful is the Holy Eucharist, received in humility, after a true and complete confession that grants us Absolution so that we never offend the God who loves us. The next awesome weapon from God is that given through HIS Holy Mother to Saint Dominic, the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, she tells us to pray that everyday. The next is the membership in the one true church that helps our prayers be more pleasing and heard by God who is our defender, our companion in battle, and our savior. This vile world trys to convince us that prayer is worthless, just as "Lord Haw Haw" and "Tokyo Rose" once tried to make traitors amongst us. Men in clerical garb are workers in the vineyard, but the fruit we are comes from the Vine, that is Christ Himself, not from the pathetic few laborers who fail to do their job.
I just got confirmed this past June. There is no way I am leaving. I just started! Edit: To all the people making negative comments, I would like to make an analogy: If you were a baseball fan, would you stop watching baseball just because there were a few players that used steroids and broke the rules of the game? I love the Catholic Church no matter who comes in and breaks God's teachings.
Thank you Bishop Barron I’ve followed you for sometime now. I was finally confirmed at age 70 a lifelong dream to become a Catholic. I will not leave. I will fight for our church for Jesus He is the Church not the evil doers. Sad days & more to come but we will endure. I pray for you I believe prayers will help you. Peace. Jcj
I've thought about this over the weekend. If I left where would I go? "Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." I'm not going anywhere. We have too much to do. We are the Church Militant right?
I am a former catholic. I read the Word of God and found that the traditions and teachings of the church are not in accordance to the Word. Studying the Word helped me to establish a relationship with God....to know him and to feel His presence. Going to church each Sunday will not do that. Im telling you the truth. Dont worry about going anywhere yet. First read your Bible...then ask God to help you find a place. Your knowledge of the Word will open your eyes and will help guide you to know if your in the right place.
Thank you! God bless. The thought of leaving has crossed my mind but my response now is to pray for holiness. That I, and the faithful, would be graced with saintly heroism. Raising up saints is the only path for us to find deliverance from this darkness.
Frankly, I never understood anyone's logic as to why a person would leave the Church because of something someone does. No matter what happens, it doesn't change whether something is true or not. That's like saying, "My professor embezzled money from the collage, therefor, I no longer believe in the periodic table of elements."
Yes, that's quite understandable, Michelle, but still irrational and phobic. It's like the Vietnam vet with PTSD who freaks because the psychotherapist assigned to his group happens to be Japanese/Korean/Filipino or even a former South Vietnamese Army officer who fought on the same side as Americans. Yes this kind of thing really happens, and its not fair to BOTH parties.
Leaving = run away, and it is not solving the problem. We must united in this time of trial, for we are one family! We must pray, pray and pray for the gift of wisdom, faithfulness to God despite of the sins, and weaknesses. We are with you, bishop Baron.
American Catholics.. this is the time to get together and ask our Mother to intercede for the Church. We the Catholics on other parts of the world are praying for you and the victims. Don't give up. Don't leave but lead. Stay strong God Bless.
Ma'me...i know that the chuch teaches you to pray to mary. But what does the Word of God say about that? It says that there is ONLY ONE MEDIATOR between man and God and that is JESUS. Please read the Bible. Im not being critical....i tell you this out of love. I want you to inherit the Kingdom of God. But that can only happen if you follow His Word. Please...i beg you....please.
radtech 1- what does your comment have to do with the subject of this video??? I would like to share with you why you are incorrect, but this is not the place.
Lisa Lew Thank you for your kind prayers. Please also pray for Ireland and all of the Church. This is, unfortunately, not just an American problem, although the criminality exposed here is horrendous, this can be happening everywhere. We don’t know how far reaching this criminality is practiced. It affects all Catholics. Please pray also for the good priests and hierarchy that this doesn’t become a “witch hunt.” I fear for Our Holy Father, as well. Because we love him and the things he is doing, does not mean that all the cardinals and bishops love him, and I worry what this will mean to his Papacy.
Anglican viewer here. Completely concur with this. We have sex abuse scandals of our own in our own Church. Bishop Barron is appealing to the great Augustinian principle enunciated during the controversy with the Donatists. The Sacraments don't come from the moral excellence of the ministers but the grace of God.
JANHOI MCCALLUM..... I thought you might find this story interesting! www.catholiceducation.org/en/faith-and-character/faith-and-character/the-amazing-story-of-12-anglican-nuns-who-all-became-catholic.html
That is so good to hear! That even in this time of darkness, we are brought ever closer than before - with our brothers and sisters in Christ, and ultimately brought closer to God our Father. Though these scandals bring such pain and humiliation to us, may we suffer together for Jesus. As He has done so for us. God bless you! I pray for peace and healing for your church.
Isn't it amazing how the false church flocks together when it comes to issues such as these, Catholic, Anglican, Protestant... it's all the same thing (Mystery Babylon).
I've always thought that that argument was a legalistic way for the Church to cover its ass; a way to assure that they can have their cake and eat it too. Kudos to them for finding a way to disobey all the commandments and yet keep their power over the people.
I entered the church 6 years ago. I’ve never felt closer to Jesus as I do as a Catholic. I’m not going anywhere. Times like these call for strong people of faith.
Even with so much scandal, I could never even think of leaving the Church... I'd feel lost without Her, for She let me meet and live with Jesus. And "to whom shall we go?" he has "the words of eternal life".
Well, I'm guessing the Eastern Orthodox Churches and some Protestant Churches will be experiencing high recruitment numbers if people think the upper hierarchy are irredeemable. After seeing the Alpha recruitment in my Parish, it's clear to me the differences are blurring for some anyway. Pope Francis and our Bishops have a chance to shine here. I'll pray that they do and make the necessary sacrifices, but I don't see it happening.
Wise words! Just like Peter after the Bread of Life Discourse we ask the Lord: to whom shall we go? Only you, Lord, have words of eternal life. God bless you Chiara
There is such evil abuses in other Churches too, so that's not the cure. Our unique Faith is not dependent upon what upper Escalon do. Took me a long time to see that. A zillion dollars doesn't heal the wounds or restore the Faith of the abused. The 12 Apostles were the first church and we should get back to those basics as baptised Apostles are we too. Don't you see that too?
Michelle Donnan - Our faith does depend on what the Pope and Bishops do. They are the magisterium, the authority on Catholic teaching, and are vital to the health of the Church. Pope Francis just changed the Catechism in regard to the death penalty demonstrating that authority. Even if its not ex cathedra, their influence can change the course of the Church, and it has.
Well said Father, thank you for your wise words and inspiration. This really helps, it's hard to go through the RCIA when ppl bring this up but I never thought of leaving. Never. Thanks again
Dont leave the church. Any time we see something like this, go straight to the police, forget going to the bishop. Get involved with the church, serve, and protect.
But that is THE very issue...the sovereignty of the Church over its own clergy, to police itself. The Church deals with sin and forgiveness, not crime. Thomas Becket was murdered in the cathedral over that very thing. In our time this issue has been tested to its farthest limit.....this is high drama going on here. It is folly to trust secular enforcement...that gives us Stalin and other horrible rulers. This situation requires a truly decent, diplomatic Pope...a real man of God. Who will defend the poorest and most unwanted but the Christian religion??? WHO???
Thank you Bishop for recording this video. I appreciate your response to my post on your earlier video about not leaving the Church. Abraham Lincoln is and always will be one of my favorite historical figures so you got me there. Despite my disappointment, anger and outrage, I will commit to keep fighting. Being Catholic is very special to me, it always has been. I will regroup and look for hope, faith and love to keep me going....in the Church. God bless you Bishop!
Chrys Millhouse Wow. Wrong question. Question should be "Why be Catholic in the first place" or better yet "Why be Christian in the first place?" Jesus was the simplest of souls. Jesus had no intention of setting up any kind of organized religion or church. This is completely and absolutely man-made thing which all down through the centuries has mislead mankind. This was tacked on. added in the 3rd century by the Council of Nicea who added the virgin birth, Jesus being "God", having to be "saved" and more and more and more nonsense. Here is a religion where the priests are gay to start with, having had to swear no sex with women which I am quite sure they never had any interest in in the first place. A church that tell you that you are born in sin. It is disgusting
One thing I'm not hearing about is the fact the the victims were also spiritually raped and need our prayers , especially to Our Lady. I encourage all Catholics across the world to pray a novena for our church! Thank you Bishop Barron, for encouragement at this time!
@@Justme-zo3jy There are child molesters in the schools, we don't take all our kids out of schools & close them down. Also I know a person who's son was molested in a Prodistant church. We have to hold the people responsible for these crimes who are responsible, no matter who they are.
@@Justme-zo3jy The Church is Christ - we will never leave Christ. The corruption has a lot to do with Satan wanting to destroy Christ's Church and that is why we have to fight. It's not easy. I'm both angry and repulsed by these immoral clergy but Bishop Barron has opened my eyes. We must not walk away but FIGHT.
Matthew 16:18. Either believe in Christ or not. Leaving a Church is how Protestants might go about from one denomination to another. Catholics don't leave we fight because we believe! Matthew 16:18!
+Aaron Lecciones Non sequitur. There are many Catholic denominations - the key issue is: does a 'denomination' follow Scripture or deviate from Scripture? Matthew 16:18 affirms Peter's faith claim as the Rock (Jesus is the Rock), not that Peter is the Rock. A few verses down Peter is called Satan by Jesus as Peter waivers in his faith (a common theme with Peter).
Just came back to the the church. I was so angry with God for making me come back. It made no sense. But one thing is for sure; He has never failed me. His message was loud and clear: “you will be a light in the darkness”. Thank you God that I obeyed even when I didn’t understand. Now that she (the church) is under attack, I can’t help but want to fight for the righteous. He taught me that we stand and make evil leave not giving evil power to make us run. Yes, we shall fight and I’m honored to defend the Church in her time of need. God bless you for your wisdom.
God bless you Colleen. I have also learned (by the grace of God) to trust in God even when I don't understand. He grows us so much in this; these are the times when we have to trust in and lean on Him, and He WILL pull us through. He has already pulled through: He is the Creator, and has lived and died and conquered death. All we have to do is obey and join ourselves to Him, in His staggeringly gracious love.
Thank you Your Excellency for taking the time to talk about the scandals when so many clergy men are either avoiding the topic or worse downplaying it.
Matthew 23:8-10 (KJV) "8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ." So Rabbi isn't okay, but "Your Excellency" is?
I just need those personally affected by the abuse to know our love for the Church does not in any way trivialize or dismiss the evil abuse by those in power. Evil knows no bounds but Jesus Christ conquers all.
Being abused twice by two different people in my church growing up, I just can’t seem to come to terms with it. I feel like I’ve been on the fence with faith for the last 6 years and it’s just destroying me. It just helps to know there are genuine people out there who care
jarrett devillier you should join too, but dump all the lube you got left because marriage is great, give what you earn off the lube sales on charities for the sexual abused and their legal fees, and help the priest and your future parish to stay away from sin. :) Mission complete.
Eloquently said Bishop Barron!! I was baptized and raised a Roman Catholic and I will die a Roman Catholic because of the love Jesus Christ has shown me and his beloved Church
That is a question beyond my scope, I can only think about my own soul and how I wish to conduct my life in a good and meaningful way!!! Being a Catholic helps me do this!! I believe Jesus is a God of love and mercy and has this for all of His children regardless of their faith!! Try to lead a good life and I hope, speaking for myself alone, I see you in heaven
@@Marcus-JIf they Repent of their SINS, and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ ✝️. They will be SAVED but they will be purified first in Purgatory, before entering Heaven.
Another reason I won't leave: because we have to support our holy priests and bishops such as Bp Barron. Good, Innocent priests are being physically and mentally attacked by secular people because of the sins of someone else. That's just not fair.
@@FormerMPSGT Everything you just wrote is completely false. I converted to Catholicism from Protestantism. I used to believe all of those lies that currently believe in. I won't ever leave this Church.
Deo Gratias Same here. I am converting and also used to believe all that. Unfortunately there are as many uninformed Catholics as there are Protestants. I’m fighting by going to mass and getting education. The liturgy of the mass is the liturgy of the Word. You will hear way more sacred scripture at a mass than any Protestant service. God bless
It's really insidious of you (or anyone) to spin this story into one where "innocent priests" are victims. Any priest who continues to practice without vehemently and publicly asking for immediate reform and the resignation of the pope, is complicit in this scamdal.
Deo Gratias It would be so simple if, Jesus ( he knows surely those who are pedos ) would show up...pick the bad apples in the church, and send them to hell before their time....You are counting on that to happen...??? NOOOO !
I don’t understand why people would leave the one true faith just due to horrid men involved with our faith, we should surely take action about these scandals but leaving the faith is not the solution whatsoever.
Victims do not lose their faith in God - they lose their faith in the people who hurt and abuse them and those people who refuse to believe them when they speak out.
Thanks. We must stand together in the LOVE and Mercy of Our Great God who is hanging on the Cross for all sin , and pray for our victims. Give them both, priests and victims, to Jesus on the Cross., and Ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede and intervene in the Healing and Deliverance and Forgiveness as Only Jesus The Christ can give.
This does address my one of my biggest questions. What does a decent loyal Catholic person do when leaders of their faith abuse kids, cover it up and transfer the offenders to other parishes to continue the cycle? So who do you trust? Someone trusted the wrong people and paid for it. What does the truth look like and will we want to believe it?
I clicked on this video expecting to hear words of pacificity and to be told not to be worried or angry, but instead I have tears in my eyes because I hear words of encouragement and a call to be forthright. I really appreciate that. Thank you.
That was rousing! I do feel the urge to leave. I'm so repulsed. I have even cried over this. It's heart-wrenching. Is it all a lie and that's why this has happened? Something so disturbing and demonic - on a global scale???? But then deep in my heart I am stubborn. I resent like heck that these evil, deceptive, twisted people are doing so much to cripple the Church I love. I don't want to give them that power. I beg God for mercy, like Abraham pleading for Sodom; even if there are just ten righteous men, spare it, Lord!
Joshua Emrich Just remember that if Judas betrayed Jesus himself it is going to continue to happen and it’s best to maintain our eyes on Jesus. It is appaling, but by no means should it destroy your relationship with Jesus or be a cause to walk away.
I saw another comment on another thread that inspired me: "Don't leave, LEAD!" Laypeople can do much to make sure things like this don't happen again. God bless you Bishop Barron!
Thank you Bishop Barron for enriching us with full of optimism. Your thoughts have instilled in me to fight for betterment instead of quitting. God bless you! I'm sharing to maximum folks I know.
I will not stop being Catholic because of these wrongdoings, but I have to say that they have hurt me and depressed me very much. This hurts a lot. Thank you for your words 🙏🏻😢. I used to go to mass every morning and lately I find it difficult to do so.
AS a kid i was hit by a PRIEST and after MASS he would say sorry , i was an ALTER BOY , most things are kept in house . I still believe in CHRIST and to this day i don't hit children .

We say the Church is holy, not in the sense that all members are holy far from it as demonstrated. But her Founder gave it all the needed means to make people holy.
TheLongSummer; Nonsense; Christ established the Catholic Church Mass Eucharist on Holy Thursday the Last Supper. To be the Church of Christ notice singular Church you must be in Succession or direct line to the Apostles. We have over 5500 catholic bishops worldwide and from laying on of hands the direct line from the apostles is established. You need a new religion history teacher to think otherwise. Don't be deceived or follow history revisionists. The holy spirit teaches all truth. Sex abuse is a cultural problem. The music industry hollywood you name it; so not just in the church. Some reports maybe 4% of catholic priests can fall in this group. The catholic church is eternal that's why it can never be destroyed. Unless the Lord builds the house they labor in Vain. The office of pope/bishops/priests are given by God. In times of scandal and there will be scandal catholics are to look to Christ and keep your eyes on the cross for without the cross there can be no resurrection. The Church is not a democracy. 1 Timothy 3;15 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
TheLongSummer; lol; It said to be the least holy of all organizations. lol; Is this coming from secularists and non believers or the devil himself.Christ can make people holy as that was his mission. It is said; you will be greatly surprised who you see makes it into heaven.Only God knows the heart of every man. Don't you think if the Catholic Church was man made it would have been destroyed by now. The Church has outlasted empires. It is said our faith will be rocked by the core. A great falling away must come first then the final anti christ is revealed. Don't despise prophecy. Pedos are just a distraction homosexuality/sodomy is the abomination. In the history of ancient Israel the Levite priests fell into the same abomination not caring for orphans; widows; sexual sins; human sacrifice and it provoked our Lord. Catholics have to be careful in not falling into the same trap by just listening to the elders of the church. Do as they say not as they do.
Thanks SO much, Bishop. I’m so sorry for your pain and that of your brothers. For me, there’s no way I will leave. To leave is to abandon Christ’s church in the hands of the evil. “Lord, to whom shall we go? YOU. have the words of everlasting life!”
I have tried for a long time to "fight" but have been left to "fight" alone, a guilty bystander within the Church. No one listening. Now i must continue my "fight" for the Church but from without its doors. Most of the prophetic voices have come from those religious who have spoken the truth before and after they were deleted.
Be calm. God is in control. Our role is to persevere in praying, to love our faith so much more in this most difficult trial. Never abandon the faith Christ Himself has established. Never forget Jesus has conquered the world. He will help us overcome this with the Blessed Mother. Let’s all be the Catholic Christ expects us to be. We are not alone in this, God is in our midst. Wear your Catholic Christian armor and fight the good fight. . Bishop Barron thank you for your rallying message. God bless you 🙏🏼.
Thanks Bishop Barron for your reassuring words. I think everyone needs to hear your message so I put it on my Facebook page. I am now a subscriber of your channel.
Yes, fight. But things need to change. Rules are there for everyone. This has to have consequences. Dire ones. Or this will set an abysmal example. And in this time of fast communication the people will know. If there is a time for the pope to act, it is now or we just do what we want because why not? May God have mercy on us.
@@brazilianman92 But I'm SICK as a Catholic with the Pedophilia scandals happening around the Vatican and the Papacy. Maybe those disgusting OLD Cardinals are having gay homosexual orgies down there, as for me I'll just stick to the Sacraments but as for now I don't care about any Popes.
A good tree does not bear bad fruit..I not trying to be an ass but this is what happens when you focus on power and authority instead of healing..true church heals ..its not plagued by scandals like this...
matrixlone the Catholic Church is not a single tree. Each person within the church is a tree that bears good or bad fruit. The Catholic Church is filled with saints who bore good fruit down through the ages as well as people who were great sinners and scandalized the faithful, including popes and other clergy.

matrixlone As Catholics, we know Jesus is truly present in the Holy Eucharist. If we leave we will not receive Him outside the church. None Catholics do not believe this so they see no reason to become catholic. I converted to the catholic faith 13 years ago from different Protestant denominations. Thank you Bishop Barron. This is the most meaningful, helpful and inspiring communication I have heard or read regarding the sex abuse scandals. I will share it with others! God Bless you!
Bishop Barron Praise God for you! Years of abuse can be healed in a moment by the Lord! I know this personally & it is an opportunity for His Church to be healed to Know His Presence!
I don't understand how this makes your faith stronger when our leaders are the ones destroying it. I know, dont turn against God it's not him but why does God let this happen?? And why in hell is it our Priests and bishops? I am so ashamed and disgusted right now. I've been a Catholic for a short time, I went through almost 2 yrs of RCIA to become Catholic in 2017. I love my faith, I never felt more at peace in Catholicism but i am struggling right now. Zero desire to even go to mass.
Candice Smith Keep going if you're physically able-bodied. Over time you can reconnect and may miss something you need to hear to get back. That's what happened to me. I wish I was able to go.
Yes free will and all. These people though, these children. How can they ever trust in the church, in God, how after this happened?? I dont know. I am honestly at a loss for words over this entire thing. I keep thinking what if it happens to my children? I had all of them baptized into the church 2 yrs ago. I could never live with myself if something like this happened to my child and I would be partially responsible. I know no one is safe, I know it happens in protestant churches. The difference is this was allowed to go on and it's been covered up for so so long. This isnt the first time either. Why does this continue to happen???????????
Candice Smith if this was to happen to one or both of your children you would not be responsible at all. The person or people that did the action would be responsible. I know and understand what your saying but ( as difficult as I know this is) as Christians we are called to forgive sinners. All we can do for others is basically what you’ve done for your children. Bring them to God and just let him take care of them the way only He can. Because trust me no person alive knows exactly what they need like He does.
I can almost feel how the grace is pouring the word of God in Bishop Barron's mouth in this discourse. I am an Orthodox, but all the Christians and especially the clergy need this burning desire for divine righteousness made in a very peaceful and meditative way.
Thank you father!!! This was MUCH MUCH more helpful than your 20min general comments from the other day. Let us use our anger to fight for Truth, justice and love!
I loved my Catholic upbringing. Sad to learn how corrupt Rome is. How perhaps Constantine was not truly converted, but used his sign to corral power. I am truly devastated upon learning this evil corruption disguised as "good". I believe in good forces. Unfortunately for me Fatima has become reality. How sad.
I really appreciate Bishop Barron's suggestion to fight for our faith by organizing. I even suggested this to a friend the other day. For us to gather en mass and march together to demonstrate that we are the CHURCH. And as a church, we can not tolerate any abuse of God's children.
I can't look at a priest without wondering whether or not he has hurt children, women, other priests in training. When I see a bishop I assume he is involved in the mess. It's the men in power who have been covering this up for a very long time. That's so sad. Less PR, less power, less money to pay out to victims, more spirituality.
Bishop Baron thank for the words of wisdom and clarity. It is very challenging for us to separate our church from our Catholic structure and the priests who we entrust with guiding and nurturing us. Without meaningful change, I’m afraid we will lose many who are faithful but not able to see an end to these horrible actions. Praying that we see actions that lead to hope, and confidence that we are in charge.
I am Catholic. No apoligies. If you have a wart deal with it and move on. As a lay person, I had no idea this was going on. This was a terrible thing that happened. I am shocked. On the other hand, we need to clean this up. But also the pay offs are not appropriate. This does not make it right, heal the hurt, it seems more a lawyer thing. I see this as a money grab.
Speaking from personal experience of having been sexually assaulted - dragged off into an ally by knife point as a child. Money does not solve a thing. Sure I was deeply and profoundly affected and it took me years to be able to even talk about it. The threat of reprisal keep me quiet. I have no problem giving a voice to the voiceless. I have no problem with helping victims up to a point. Why? Because money would not have help on iota in my case. It has nothing to do with money, it has to do with healing. So yes, I honestly and sincerely believe the pay offs are inappropriate and a lawyer thing.
Thank you, Bishop Barron. I shared this on my blog, along with this paragraph: "I believe Bishop Robert Barron is one of the good guys. He is doing good work for the church. The video below is him - raw and weary - a beauty in itself. We are never more beautiful than when we are ourselves. His message, his fervor, his love of the church, comes through here as it does in all his beautiful works of evangelization. Polished Bishop Barron is congruent with raw Bishop Barron. I've decided to trust him and pray for him to remain faithful." Thank you, Bishop. You have and continue to have an immense influence on my continuing conversion of heart.
Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful & faithful servant Bishop Robert Barron. Thank you, Bishop. The frustration some feel is understandable, but it doesn't make any sense to leave. I pray that we are all given the strength, the courage to fight. To fight for the victims is to fight for the Church. To fight for the Church is to fight for the victims. Queen of Heaven, ora pro nobis.
Aside from Satan, who is the enemy in this battle? Who are you calling to take up arms against? At this point, it seems to me that the enemy is the official church, the hierarchy, or at least large portions of it. Name names. Who needs defeated?
Satan and those who abuse are the enemy, Those who use the less than 1% of Clergy who abuse to attack the Church the Holy Spirit created at Pentecost are also the enemy..
I've listened to this video for a second and third time. I have great respect for Bishop Barron, which is reflected in my numerous previous positive comments. I hope the good Bishop thinks through his comments about those individuals that walk away from the Church are abandoning abuse victims. If we learned about an abuse case that occurred over the last ten years, after the perpetrator had made apologies and promises to reform, but in fact systematically doubled down in the harm inflicted, yet chastised individuals that separated themselves from the perpetrator, arguing they're abandoning the victim(s).... that could be seen as emotional manipulation. Please be careful with that line of reasoning. To be clear, I don't believe that's the Bishops intention, rather he's trying to stop the Church from bleeding. Again, I'm asking the Bishop to be careful using an abandonment argument, and recall the actual parties that performed harmful acts and abandonment. Jesus is Lord. Pray without ceasing.
You cannot. Neither the Pope nor the priesthood has taken any active steps to rid the RCC of this. All they have to do is let priests marry and take active measures to kick out the wrongdoing priests, but do they do that? No.. But they are sitting back and hoping it just goes away. But with only 5 diocese having revealed thousands of pedophile priests since 1995, and many more victims, how many more pedophile priests are there in the world when there are thousands of dioceses? Meanwile, the Pope and the priesthood sit on their hands.
Dear Bishop Barron: Why do we say that this is a problem of a few priests of bishops rather than a problem of the Church as an institution? The fact is, as the Pennsylvania Grand Jury report as well as the investigative reporting of the Boston Globe that was highlighted in Spotlight, that these sexual abuse issues are at their worst a criminal conspiracy on the part of the leadership of the Church who knew of crimes committed by the men who are supposed to lead their flocks in the love of Christ have engaged in widespread cover-ups of these crimes for years. It is time for the Church leadership to come clean, put the lay people in a decision-making position and make sure that the priests and bishops who have engaged in this heinous behavior are held to account in the civil criminal courts for the crimes they have committed.
+Kenneth Thanks for clarifying. It's important to me that people don't imagine it's a problem only in one place. It's universal. Wishing you the best. This is a tragic time for people who want to belong to their spiritual community and feel they have nowhere to turn. I would be so devastated - I'm devastated as a bystander who has enjoyed Catholic mass many times because it's beautiful, rich, and meaningful to me. There is so much goodness in the Catholic approach and I shouldn't feel uncomfortable in a space that feeds my soul. Nobody should.
Agree, but I think it’s time for the Church as an institution to rio off the band aid, come clean about the extent of its duplicity in these coverups, defrock the guilty and submit them to criminal prosecution by the civil authorities and then we can talk repentance. Very appropriate as our Jewish brothers and sisters approach Yom Kippur.- the Day of Atonement.
If you decide to leave the Church because of this scandal, then all of those who have conspired against the Church for the last 100 years will have succeeded. Christ said that the Gates of Hell WILL NOT prevail against his Church. Are you trying to prove him wrong?
TheHedge The Gates of Hell has already prevailed against the Catholic Church because of the Satanic Vatican and the CORRUPT Papal system. Outside of the Vatican and the Pope the Catholic Church is still protected by God.
+thefourthsannin Satan has already entered the Catholic Church that is the 3rd prophecy of Fatima, as a Catholic since birth the Vatican disgusts me with these recent allegations.
This "scandal" is RAPING CHILDREN You obviously never been through it. Well I have. And the fact you Catholics make it sound like it's just a little rule broken pisses me off. Fuck you all
Bishop Barron Who is our Lincoln? Who speaks with righteous anger against the cloistered leaders who will not speak of it? I wonder what Jesus would do if He came to the Vatican and saw the illicit behaviors and actors who wear the priestly vestments in His Holy Church. Would He chase them out as He did the money changers in the Temple or would He cry and pray for God's Mercy on them without doing anything? Where is our Moses to lead us? Lord lead us to the Rock which is higher than us. I fear nothing will change unless the United States Government bring racketeering charges against the bishops and cardinals who were in charge of this criminal enterprise and then the scandal will get uglier.

Well said. I agree. All Catholics should walk away and demand change, and not return until the changes have been made.
I disagree with walking away. This our Church not the corrupted clergies! It is our duty as soldiers of Christ to defend her against the slimeballs. It is however a tiresome cross to bear -pray for strength.
I want to reiterate the FOUR Pennsylvania Grand Jury recommendations: 1. Eliminate statute of limitations 2. Create windows to sue (on behalf of EVERY victim) 3. Clarify penalties for reporting failures (that means simply transferring priest to other locales so that they can continue to abuse becomes illegal and punishable; it's aiding and abetting) 4. Reform laws on confidentiality agreements. There are Catholic entities that have historically and heavily LOBBIED for current sex abuse laws to remain unchanged, because those laws in fact favor the church as a billion dollar institution and protect its PR image.
This is not a crisis. This abuse has been going on for a very, very long time. This problem has always existed. The vatican and local church staff ignored it and many, many times threatened people who wanted to report it to the police. The fact that they simply moved priests to other parishes shows their lack of concern for those affected. The people affected have been traumatized. The abuse affects them for the rest of their lives! Doesnt anyone care about these defenseless boys & girls? Who is going to stand up for them. These men in religious clothes enjoy the power they have over people and use it to take advantage of them. These are mere men! Dont put them on a holy petestal. They are just plain men. Get that thru your head people. Many dont speak up bwcause they consider these men as next to God.
Amen!
joyce Nderi you are amazing. Hope everyone would be as strong as you. God bless.
I love how strong you are. The world is brutal against believers. I will keep you and all others in my heart and my prayers. There is nothing I can say to help your pain; i can only offer my prayer to you

Catholics are catholics precisely because they're in communion with the pope.

Yes.

It is a shame that the Pope didn't say these words. I'm a little frustrated at his silence.

I was just Confirmed in May. I feel the exact same way
Congratulations to you all and may God bless you all.
Same here. I was confirmed in 2015. I won’t leave Jesus in these troubled times.
Confirmed in 2017! Never leaving Mother Church!
ME TOO! (but easter vigil). Welcome home!!
Thank you Bishop Barron I’ve followed you for sometime now. I was finally confirmed at age 70 a lifelong dream to become a Catholic.

An inspiration. I am 55 and just began RCIA. I would like to know you.
I've thought about this over the weekend. If I left where would I go? "Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." I'm not going anywhere. We have too much to do. We are the Church Militant right?
Those are the exact words I have been thinking over and over again.
That gospel reading could not have been more timely, and praise God for that. If that isn’t divine providence, then what is?

Daniel Charland Because every priest is suspect if you're a victim. How can you not be reminded every Sunday after such trauma.
I’ve experienced abuse by two different people in my church growing up and it destroys any faith or trust. It’s easier said than done
Daniel Charland Thank you for sharing. Your faith is strong, brother!
The periodic table of elements is actually real and testable though.

Janhoi McCallum - God bless you, our dear brother in Christ!
I'm not leaving because that's what the evil one wants me to do.

Exactly.
Offer an alternative path, but don't tell people they are just wrong. You have pain in your heart, I pray you heal.
I entered the church 6 years ago. I’ve never felt closer to Jesus as I do as a Catholic. I’m not going anywhere. Times like these call for strong people of faith.
Double your Sunday donation ...those lawyers are expensive.
I’m going nowhere. I’ll be damned if these wicked abusers occasion me to sin. Devil, I loathe thee.
Thank you, Your Excellency, I needed to hear this today. God Bless You
"Your Excellency"? You do realize that the Bible says not to call people titles like that, right?
Guilherme Milone Silva God bless you too, brother! If you remember, please pray for me.
Thank you, Bishop. Keep up the good work. Keep showing the other Bishops how to lead!
WHO???

Matthew 16:18. Either believe in Christ or not. Leaving a Church is how Protestants might go about from one denomination to another. Catholics don't leave we fight because we believe! Matthew 16:18!

Non sequitur.
Exactly. Leaving the Church is what started the whole protestant mess.
My church is replete with Catholics who have gotten saved and left the Catholic religion.
Bishop Barron I thank Jesus for your wisdom and vitality and Thank you for your consistent caring.

Bishop Barron thank you for your rallying message. God bless you 🙏🏼.
Love and support to you.I am in the process of conversion...really needed this...
Maybe we should put our inquisitors to good use to ensure clergimen are maintaining their vows

Thanks Bishop Barron for your reassuring words. I think everyone needs to hear your message so I put it on my Facebook page. I am now a subscriber of your channel.
You said it Your Excellency! God Bless you.
Sorry Bishop, the frustration got to me! God bless you❣️🙏🏻✝️🌹
Yes, fight. But things need to change. Rules are there for everyone. This has to have consequences. Dire ones. Or this will set an abysmal example. And in this time of fast communication the people will know. If there is a time for the pope to act, it is now or we just do what we want because why not?
May God have mercy on us.
Andree K The Satanic Vatican and the CORRUPT Papal system must be CHANGED. The hierarchy of the Catholic Church must be CHANGED.
@@AJ_Jingco The church doesnt change that's what protestants do.
Thank you for that, Bishop. Your video helped me to stay focused during these confusing times. I'm going to share this.
Great message bishop, thank you
Praying for you and the entire WOF team. Keep up the great work. You’re helping us through this frustrating time period.
@@almacintosh161 yea but those trees arent healed themselves..that's why they produce this kinda stuff ungodly...its a bunch of dead trees fulfilling the ungodly passions ..I have no reason to join Rome in fact look at most Catholics on here.."I'm Catholic because of...jesus" 🤣😂...yea ok..forget the papacy then...hows does the papacy have the healing powers of jesus by the way??

Thank you Bishop Barron. This is the most meaningful, helpful and inspiring communication I have heard or read regarding the sex abuse scandals. I will share it with others! God Bless you!
Bring these perverts to trial if you want to restore confidence. Rallying the “troops” while shielding the criminals doesn’t cut it for me.
God bless you Bishop Barron.
Very well said 👏
Bishop Barron Praise God for you!
God allows this type of this or any evil thing to happen because of the fact that He allows us to all have free will.
Candice Smith please don’t loose your faith because that’s exactly what the devil wants to happen. Think about that
I can almost feel how the grace is pouring the word of God in Bishop Barron's mouth in this discourse. I am an Orthodox, but all the Christians and especially the clergy need this burning desire for divine righteousness made in a very peaceful and meditative way.
I hear what you say, but I will believe what you do … there must be resignations of the perps and their covers … enough talk ...
How sad.
Thank you Bishop Barron. We need to hear this. Lord have mercy and bring healing to all those who have been hurt and justice for these crimes.
Thanks for this.
Well said. Best wishes from London. Sydney Xavier, of your fans. I completely with you on this.
The Church must tell the police of all credible claims against priests etc. Until then the Church has not changed.
I am a Catholic, but sadly, I feel the same way. I see a priest, especially an older one, and I wonder...
No you don't get it!!!!!!!!😔😔😔😔😔 we just left the church, 143 people, in one week 😢😢😢😢
Lill Tedla Congratulations for leaving the corrupt Catholic Church better to find a church that teaches and keeps the true word that’s in the Bible.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You are totally right!!! Thank you Bishop Robert!!!
@George Smith as a victim of sexual abuse myself..THANK YOU! Someone finally gets it!

Thank you, Bishop Barron. I shared this on my blog, along with this paragraph:
"I believe Bishop Robert Barron is one of the good guys. I've decided to trust him and pray for him to remain faithful."
Thank you, Bishop. You have and continue to have an immense influence on my continuing conversion of heart.
Nothing but damage control.... Hurry hurry before they leave!
Damage control?
What about the victims?!
How can we stop this from ever happening again
MUCH better response - straightforward, declaring the stance for the Catholic Faith rather than wavering under the scandal. THANK YOU, Bishop Barron.
Please research the abuse in other parts of the world. It's a much bigger problem than PA and Boston.
I know. Those were just my two reference points.
Excellent speech, Bishop Barron.
We are fully behind in your fight. 💪💪
@@AJ_Jingco Nope. Not yet. As for you, you're anathema.
+thefourthsannin Satan has already entered the Catholic Church that is the 3rd prophecy of Fatima, as a Catholic since birth the Vatican disgusts me with these recent allegations.
This "scandal" is RAPING CHILDREN
You obviously never been through it. Well I have. And the fact you Catholics make it sound like it's just a little rule broken pisses me off.
Fuck you all
Hi Bishop Barron, Protestant here praying for the RCC, your problems are our problems. God bless you all!
I want to reiterate the FOUR Pennsylvania Grand Jury recommendations:
1. Eliminate statute of limitations
2. Create windows to sue (on behalf of EVERY victim)
3. Clarify penalties for reporting failures (that means simply transferring priest to other locales so that they can continue to abuse becomes illegal and punishable; it's aiding and abetting)
Many dont speak up bwcause they consider these men as next to God.
radtech l We know they’re just men. That’s why we’re not going anywhere. We’re not in the Church because of the priests and bishops.
Thank you Bishop Barron, as a disciple of Jesus, I will fight for the Church of Christ !
