I would like to remind you that the current war in Ukraine is a consequence of the policy of Pope Innocent 11 in the 17th century, which led to the division of Ukraine between Poland and Muscovy. For 300 years, my people have been washing themselves in blood because the Pope wanted to weaken the influence of the Patriarch of Constantinople by transferring his greatest asset (Ukraine was the largest country in Europe with a powerful army and a developed economy at that time) of the Patriarch of Constantinople under the control of Moscow. What happened in Bucha has been happening in Ukraine for 300 years and is happening with the blessing of the Pope. I would not like to see Catholics in Ukraine at all!

I heard Fr Mark Goring going through acrobatics trying to say couple doesn't mean what we assume it means. This is disingenuous. The document surely doesn't mean two random people are picked out of a crowd by a parish priest and are given a blessing. These are people who identify as a couple, and are likely not living a celibate life. It is the _union_ they are asking the priest to bless.

I was lukewarm Catholic for years and I was lost and confused. Pope Benedict XVI brought me back and the Traditional Latin Mass. Presently, my life is more fulfilling than ever. My family followed me and all 3 generations go to mass together. Times are difficult right now with these modernist schemes causing all of this chaos. God is in charge and sooner rather than later the pope and his posse will learn that they are servants of God like I am.
I’m with you on Pope Benedict. The extraordinary form of the Roman Eucharistic rite, however, has very sadly been outrageously instrumentalized by a minority whose end game is dissent against the successor of St Peter. They have done the exact thing Benedict was hoping they would not.
I have listened to many UA-cam commentaries, and you are one of my favorites. Your thoughtful commentary helps me to weigh everything. I will always stay Catholic. Thank you. We are all called to defend the faith now more than ever.

Dear@@brendahellenmokeira9124, you do not understand the way the Lord formed His Church, nor the way His Sacraments work. Jesus rose from the dead. He is alive and guiding the Church to this very day. Try to imagine yourself in a Church which always has Jesus Present in her tabernacles, on her altars -- oh, try to imagine yourself in a Church that *has* altars! -- that did not have to start all over again a scant 500 years ago!
Hello Susan, I think the Bible is veery clear about everything we need to know about our salvation. The bible must be the guiding principle in all our activities, whether in the church or lifestyle outside the church.
Dear@@brendahellenmokeira9124, yes, the Bible is the Word of God in the words of men. But nowhere in the Bible does it say that we are to rely ONLY on the Bible. Instead, the Bible describes the foundations of the Church, under the guidance of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. From Genesis to Revelation, we can see the History of Salvation woven into the History of the Kingdom on earth, that is to mirror the Kingdom of Heaven. And the Church had to discern which books should be included in the Bible. It is *not* self-evident! It took some years -- not many, but some -- to decide on the canon of the New Testament. The Old Testament took longer because the present rabbinic Judaism was also making a canon, leaving out the New Testament writings and what might be used by Christians. Check it out for yourself. See if the Holy Spirit is calling you to your true home.
Thank you Brian. You speak my mind. I am not Catholic, but I went through a similar struggle in the Evangelical church I grew up in. I could go on for hours regarding the details, but it very much mirrors (on a smaller scale) what Catholics are going through now. I came very clearly to recognize that Christ is our true foundation and the failings of men do not change who He is. I will continue to stand for my God and my faith remains unbroken, stronger than ever before.

As a Lutheran I am wounded for my Catholic brothers having to go through this. However it is disturbing to me that they feel like they are alone. If I didn’t have any other sacramental churches near me I suppose I would attend a Catholic Church. I wouldn’t be “converting” to a different religion. The solipsism of Catholics is kind of frustrating. Every major Christian tradition is dealing with the issue of liberalism right now. I’m genuinely glad that you guys were able to stay biblically conservative a little longer than the rest of western Christianity, but can we drop the whole thing about being the “one true church” and the idea that there is nowhere else to go? Systematic theology is important but in my experience the Christian walk is much less about ideas we intellectually assent to with other believers than the actual call to bear our crosses daily with one another. We are crossing into an age where ecumenism will not be optional. It will be a necessity. While different apologists debate about whether Catholics or Protestants are more to blame for the secularization of the West, our children are becoming atheists and our churches are being infected with liberal interpretations of scripture. This has to stop. We can recognize differences in our theology in a way that doesn’t hinder the fellowship we are called to especially now. I can’t say I’m not disappointed by the lack of emphasis placed on returning to the gospel rather than defending the Catholic Church as an institution. The best way to defend her is to emphasize the gospel and the words of Christ shall rebuke and repair his church. It really does keep me up at night knowing that I have so many Christian brothers out there who think they are alone because they refuse to look around for help.
The Gospel shows us that Jesus established one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. The Gospel shows us that Jesus anointed men to become His bishops with the authority to turn bread and wine into the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to forgive sins revealed in the Sacrament of Confession.
Also, you talk as if we've capitulated. All I see here is that Pope Francis has seriously undermined himself and is likely regrouping as we speak! The only thing that has been undermined is the Popesplainer/Hyperpapalism theory of papal authority, but the Catholic Church never taught it! Frankly, one of the silver linings of this controversy is it has pulled the rug out from underneath this pernicious idea posing as Catholicism. The Church's true ecclesiology is now fully operational out in the open. The Pope tried something ... he's being corrected on it. He will soon be replaced by another. Anyone counting this as proof that the Catholic Church is done has fooled themselves, to be honest.
I’m not saying the Catholic Church is done. I’m saying that they’re experiencing the same problems of division and betrayal in high places that a lot of other traditions have been going through as well. I’m by no means saying that the Catholic Church has capitulated and I don’t think that it ultimately can but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a difficult time to be a Catholic right now especially because you guys avoid schism on principle. I can just go to an LCMS church and ignore the fact that ELCA churches call themselves “Lutheran” even though they so liberally interpret the Bible that it makes me wonder how many there are with a false sense of assurance about their salvation and to what degree God’s grace allows for dissent. I think it is admirable that Catholics always try to stick it out. My point was that every believer who takes God’s word seriously is on the same side in this and it’s important that we come together across our traditions to show that the deep conviction of trying to stay true to God’s Word isn’t what causes schism. It’s one of the main underlying principles of true Christians and a cause of unity regardless of the systematic theological conclusions being different. There are clear messages in scripture that every faithful believer cannot ignore without putting himself in opposition to God. One of these is the stance towards homosexuality. My hope is that a unified front would emerge between traditions to show that we are not divided on the authority of God over our lives.
@@AuthenticityVeritasI’m not saying this disproves the papacy. I personally don’t believe in it but that’s not my point. My point is that all God fearing believers need to show how important staying true to God’s word is to them. We should be standing shoulder to shoulder to say that we will not tolerate this liberalization not because we’re Catholics, Lutherans, Eastern Orthodox, Anglicans, Evangelicals or whatever but because we are God fearing Christians.
I live in Edmonton and I am currently taking the RCIA training, leaving behind Mormonism after 4 years of personal investigation. Being Catholic is a blessing despite the spots we may find in Church history and Church current events, although many of the Church’s controversies are popularly misconstruedI. I thank God has preserved the doctrine and the Church. Let us not forget Judas was called to be one of the 12 apostles. Thus, let’s not forget God does not call perfect people. He qualifies them if they allow Him to do so. I am grateful that God is giving me the opportunity to join the church middle of the social, ideological turmoil attempting to distort the doctrine f the Church . It does helps me see for myself that I am truly committed to join he Church, This is nothing new, many heresies and bad leadership have been overcome. Let’s us make of this a faith building experience. I was born in Argentina and know about Bergoglio before he became pope Francis. His political views, actions and inactions in the country were not of my liking, yet I will support Him and pray for him as he is the Pope of the one true Church. Let us pray for him and for ourselves to not creep into error. We must monitor our thinking regularly for the ideological war can subtly make us belief in all kinds of heresies. In mad times like ours, the truth and what God wants for us may seem counterintuitive in today’s society, so learning about the early fathers of the church, reading the didache are just a few of the many things I do to ensure I am not deceive with today’s trends.
No, they must be called to repentance not blessed. (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:18-32, 1 Kings 14:24, Genesis 19:5-7, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 1 Timothy 1:8-10) It would be the same for someone openly living with their boyfriend/girlfriend (fornication) or any other sin. That said, we must be mindful of our attitude. This is very important. “Be kind and tender to one another. Forgive each other, just as God forgave you because of what Christ has done” (Ephesians 4:32). It is then that we are more able to “speak the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15). In his epistle to the Galatians, Paul had a similar warning about attitude: “Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted” (Galatians 6:1). Here we see that those who are “spiritual,” meaning walking in the Spirit in faith and obedience, should gently restore someone who is in sin, being always aware of how easily we can all be tempted by Satan who wants to ensnare everyone in his traps.@harleymann2086
@harleymann2086 The only doctrine that has really developed is our understanding of the application of blessings, but yeah the Church's teaching on matrimony HAS NOT CHANGED thank God and the document made that expressly clear.

Excellent explanation of difficulties. The people who run The Church are sinners as we all are. The Church will endure as it ever has as Jesus promised us.
As an Orthodox, I empathize with you, but I find the whole "No doubts here, let's stay the course" position to be somewhat disingenuous. This Pope has prayed to a pagan idol that he placed on an altar in St. Peter's. Now he is blessing gay unions. He has also destroyed the pro-life wing of the Catholic Church and invited an abortionist to speak at the Vatican. He has changed Catholic doctrine (eg, the death penalty). And in spite of all this, you "have no doubts"? What is it going to take for you to wake up and realize that this Pope is dismantling the Catholic Church? At least Patriarch Sviatoslav has said the 🏳️🌈 blessings don't apply to the Ukrainian Catholic clergy. God bless you all, and may you come to Orthodoxy sooner than later.
Sad, the Vatican leaders did not care to explain for the rest of the world and added to more confusions. Reason and theology explained in detail in his YT channel.
I don't see how anyone can honestly read the hole document and say this document is blessing the "Union", Its SO CLEAR its the individuals of the union, not the union that is being blessed. All these quotes come from the document - "the Church has the right and the duty to avoid any rite that might contradict this conviction or lead to confusion." "the Church does not have the power to impart blessings on unions of persons of the same sex." "what constitutes marriage-which is the “exclusive, stable, and indissoluble union between a man and a woman, naturally open to the generation of children”[6]-and what contradicts it are inadmissible..... it is only in this context that sexual relations find their natural, proper, and fully human meaning." A Theological-Pastoral Understanding of Blessings - "One who asks for a blessing show himself to be in need of God’s saving presence in his life and one who asks for a blessing from the Church recognizes the latter as a sacrament of the salvation that God offers. To seek a blessing in the Church is to acknowledge that the life of the Church springs from the womb of God’s mercy and helps us to move forward, to live better, and to respond to the Lord’s will." “when one asks for a blessing, one is expressing a petition for God’s assistance, a plea to live better, and confidence in a Father who can help us live better." "People who come spontaneously to ask for a blessing show by this request their sincere openness to transcendence, the confidence of their hearts that they do not trust in their own strength alone, their need for God, and their desire to break out of the narrow confines of this world, enclosed in its limitations." "a blessing that descends from God upon those who-recognizing themselves to be destitute and in need of his help-do not claim a legitimation of their own status, but who beg that all that is true, good, and humanly valid in their lives and their relationships be enriched, healed, and elevated by the presence of the Holy Spirit." "the Church does not have the power to confer its liturgical blessing when that would somehow offer a form of moral legitimacy to a union that presumes to be a marriage or to an extra-marital sexual practice."
Yes, but if Brian actually read the document, he could not, in good faith, make this clickbait/misinformation-style video. The document is very clear with its prescription and intention. The idea that Pope Francis is taking time away from the needy and crimes against the church to welcome sin is ridiculous, but Brian and several others did get a chance to make these videos and a quick buck. Trust me, if these folks truly cared about the confusion, they could read the document. The ignorance is willful, but I do appreciate you making the effort.

The concern isn't so much for true Catholics staying Catholic. It's for the strong disincentive for non-Catholics to seriously consider conversion. I'm a former atheist looking for my path back to the light. I have little interest now in going the Vatican's direction.
I appreciate that. What I will say is that the Bible takes great pains to teach us to expect bad leaders... throughout the OT and NT. God himself seems to choose faulty people at times. It is a witness to the fact that in spite of all this espionage, the Church still stands as the longest running institution in all of human history. It's a strong indication that the walls are kept up, not by human ingenuity, but by divine intervention.
Stay away from the Roman Catholic Church, it is a corrupt organization with a corrupt, manufactured doctrines. Find a local Bible-believing church instead. Remember a church is not a building or an organization, it is the group of believers and Jesus Christ the Son of the living God followers. Time to actually learn the history of Christian faith. Look at the huge difference between the Christian followers of faith in Christ. They martyred themselves. Catholics killed millions of people throughout history who wouldn't join a religion. Catholic religion has made itself a cult and the fact you notice it is a hint that Christian faith is individual!

But it is always Christ that we should lean upon, and we find Him in the Holy Eucharist! Keep praying for the pope and the Church! The devil is attacking ferociously.
I'm not Catholic because of Bergoglio and Fernandez. I'm Catholic because of my ancestors who loved to pray the rosary, loved the holy mass, confession, communion and they tried to be good Catholics, so am I. Deo Gratias
I am a convert. Originally raised an atheist, then being led to God through Scripture, then Evangelical Protestant, but knowing there was something wrong with that, and finally being led into God's One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Our Lord chose Simon, changed his name to Petros = Rock and then said Upon this Rock I will build my Church. I am Catholic. I'm in it for the long haul. OK. We now have a bad Pope! This is horrible, but doesn't alter a thing. There is only One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and it is under Peter. That's it. Throughout the long history of the Church there have been many saintly Popes. There have been some political Popes and there have been some grossly immoral Popes. Among the first 12 Apostles, personally chosen by Our Lord, one betrayed him then committed suicide and, from what Our Lord Himself said, we know he is now in Hell, another denied he even knew Jesus three times, 9 of the remaining 10 literally ran away when Our Lord was arrested. One, only one, John, remained faithful throughout. What I'm saying is that ecclesiastical treachery is nothing new. Who is ultimately in charge of the Catholic Church? God. Who must we finally rely on? God. Should we leave the Catholic Church? No - it is the Church Our Lord established under Peter. That's it. Anything else is a weak, fallible human substitute. St Therese of Lisieux, a favourite Saint of mine, who suffered far more than most people know before she died, saw herself as a little child in the hands of a loving, Heavenly Father. This is how I see God too. When we accept this then the evil machinations of sinful men fade into the background. Be faithful to God and to His Church, do penance and lots of prayer, and leave this current mess in God's hands.
You are miss reading that. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. Jesus is talking to Peter about the statement he made in verse 16/17 so there is a comma after the word Peter, Jesus is referring to that statement Peter made when he says ON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH. Jesus is always referred to in scripture as the Rock. Verse 20 He tells the disciples to tell NO man he was Jesus the Christ. Psalms18: 1-2 I Corinthians 3:11
As one of those people who left the church for othodoxy, not for this reason alone. I want to address a few points. 1 a difference of ideas as stated at the 18 min mark is what separates denominations. 2. You have ignored the concept of papal infallibility. 3. Christians who see error in the church that IS, if not heretical well on its way to be are not "Cowards". I believe you are a good Christian wrestling with a hard issue. I also believe you are avoiding hard truths
There's no solemn definition in the document, even if it teaches heresy Catholics are not bound to believe it. So papal infallibility is not at stake here
Wait… you’re saying that God’s kingdom is larger than one human institution? Prepare to be corrected by the adherents of the “ONE TRUE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH.” It’s so tiresome. Why can’t we just recognize that we’re all Christians while maintaining our distinct beliefs about assurance of salvation? I 100% agree with you. The solipsism of Catholic doctrine is what creates this catch 22 for them.
@williampeters9838 This may come as a surprise, but I actually agree with you. I obviously take issue with some parts of other denominations, but last I checked, it isn't my call. While these are human institutions, it's the best we got. My big issue her is the justification and pretending this document is anything but what it is.
at about 14:50 Brian speaks about the topic of "scandalously bad popes and bishops" we've had in the past. I agree and the question and struggle that leaves on my heart is 'What have those popes and bishops done to the corrupt the Deposit of Faith and Tradition over centuries? Especially when no one other than clerics really knew what was going on and faithful Catholics wouldn't dare question things. Have they made a religion that supports a clergy rather than a clergy that supports a religion?
I’m staying Catholic. I feel like lightning striking St. Peter’s statue in Argentina, destroying the golden key on Francis’ birthday, is a sign that even God isn’t approving of this. I think we need to stick together and pray for this to end. St. Michael the archangel, defend us in battle.
I was a convert to the Catholic Church. There was a time when I felt deeply comforted-cradled even-in the Catholic Church. But the more time I spent there, the more I felt that the factions within the church were tearing it apart. In the end, for me, it boiled down to the one thing Christ said would mark His Church: that they love one another. I couldn't say I saw even a little bit of that in the Catholic Church. I wandered for years after leaving, spending time with the Orthodox, the Quakers, the Anglo-Catholics, even some Anglo-Protestants. In the end, I settled with the Orthodox, and the contrast to the Catholic Church is stark. Catholics think Orthodoxy is the same as them only with more emphasis on "mystery". That's a huge misconception. Orthodoxy is much more a spirituality than a religion. In Catholicism, I felt the institution more than the Spirit. In Orthodoxy, if you're feeling the institution more than the Spirit, you're doing it all wrong, and they're going to tell you again and again until you get it right.
Well you might be thinking like this because Eastern Orthodoxy itself has changed. Your religion was a bit different in the past when emperors and czars were heavily involved in the Church business. Now that thats gone, i guess you’re just left with some type of spirituality.
The term couple denotes the union as you explain. It is not simply a quantity, though it is a quantity. It is a sad day to watch our teachers fail so profoundly at their responsibilities. Imagine being someone who takes a vow to dedicate every aspect of their life to this pursuit and then to so fundamentally and completely fail at this pursuit.
The term couple does not denote the union, “pareja” does not denote “unión,” and FS is very clear on this since blessing the union is explicitly forbidden in at least 3 places, and the blessing is meant not to affirm anything but to help the people live holier by imparting actual grace. A priest’s duty is to help people live holier. It’s easy to understand why people misunderstand what the church is teaching here, but we should stop complaining about it and actually work to help people understand it.
The Orthodox don't have these problems because Orthodoxy doesn't change. Catholicism is forever tinkering, forever "developing" doctrine. This is the result.
It’s called cognitive dissonance and it is strong in this one. Also note the gaslighting calling people who leave a parasite on the body of Christ. The parasites are calling the shots and he can’t admit it.
This is the best analysis of this issue and the consequences yet to come. I don’t watch every video on this channel but glad I subscribed to hear this. Thank you.
I'm not a catholic but I think we share the same reasons to remain faithful to the call of Christ in our lives. I especially appreciate the distinction you drew between difficulties and doubts. Blessings to you in the new year
I am a new convert to our beautiful Church. Was an evangelical christian. I am not confused by what's going on. It's obvious to me who's behind this and it's not the Holy Spirit that's for sure. I follow Jesus the traditional Catholic way. Launching this document in a time where Jesus is the reason for the season is extremely disturbing. Way more videos on this than what we should be focused on... JESUS! As Fr Chad Ripperger says, the demons have a rule, anything but, God. Brian thank you for your work. Wishing everyone here an Jesus-filled 2024!! Viva Cristo Rey!!
I love you, brother. I'm Lutheran, one that holds to the Lutheran Confessions. Help, please with a few questions I have: To whom is Francis truly listening? Is he listening to the Father of Jesus? Is he listening to the clear voice of Holy Scripture? And to whom is he encouraging the church's pastors to listen? I'm not going any further on this than that. I mean absolutely NO disrespect toward you or my Roman Catholic family. I am praying for you all. Pray for we Lutherans, too. God's peace to you.
im not catechized just researching christian faith because i experienced the issues the Catholic church is struggling with but in the methodist church. Except the Methodist church actually did it. However from what i can tell i think the pope is guided by the holy spirit.
Outstanding Video. I’ve only occasionally come across your content, but I enjoy it when I do. You’re right, you’re intuitions are right. We all know this it’s just a matter of what you’re going to do for you and your family. You know the stakes. God be with you brother ☦️
Great insight for me to consume on a Sunday AM. I'm not leaving either. What have I done? I have doubled down on my prayers for the clergy top-to-bottom to bring them into the fold and to focus on salvation of souls rather than appeasement of politicians or so-called marginalized segments of society. That latter point is a fallacy as you rightfully pointed out. Anyway, that was a good posting - very good. thank you!
Thank you for your clarity, which is sorely needed to understand this contentious issue. I returned to the faith because I realized it is the original church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I will never leave again - I’m in for life.
17:55 This was Luther's initial stance as well. He wasn't jumping ship, he was taking a stand for the catholic faith. Of course this was during a time in which that stance could get you killed by the church. Now you just get "fired" 😉.
How did Lutheranism go so far off the rails with notion that grace covers all sin without the necessity of actions? That contradicts the Bible, but that was fixed by throwing out the troublesome books and ignoring other clear passages.
@@reja1309 Not sure what you're talking about. Might ask a Lutheran about it (Jordon B Cooper?). They might respond in kind about "off the rails", with Marian dogmas, indulgences, and infallibility 🤷♂️.
How about just worship God read the Bible and Pray. It seems sometimes you are more attached to being a Catholic than you are to simply following Christ.
@patriceagulu8315Kind of a wild take. I would have said that it’s God’s Word which was perspicuously divinely inspired leading to a council of bishops to affirm the canon that they had already been using for 200 years. But you do you man.
The good Cardinal's understanding of the word "couple," reminds me of a conversation that Alice had with Humpty Dumpty in "Through the Lookinging Glass:" 'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less.' 'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.' 'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master - that's all.'
May as well just throw objective morality out the window. In the Catholic Church, morality is subjective based on the time period, location or people group, yet they claim to serve the God who never changes.
Brian, there is no problem with the recent document. People are making up and creating problems that do not exist. The document does not alter, change, reinterpret church teaching at all. Stay cool and keep the faith. The Magisterium is safe -that was the promise. ❤
The problem is that the mo of the lgbt cult is to infiltrate by degrees. They make small seemingly innocuous changes, and then before you know it they've infected every facet of society. Look up the Overton Window, how slight change in the present is the safest way to produce major change in the future.
(John 16:33) Catholic for life, because who said being a Christian was going to be easy🙇The Holy Catholic Church is the only and one true Church Jesus founded. Amen & God bless🙇
@@lisyp3775I’m not sure if you meant to but you’re kind of implying that he’s no longer a true Christian if he becomes orthodox which is not definitely not the case. NonCatholics are just as much a part of the body of Christ as you are even if you think that their doctrine isn’t as true.
The Orthodox Church has valid sacraments. It has Apostolic Secession. It has a valid Eucharist (all according to the Roman Church) which is what it’s all about. It’s either this or sedeprivationism for me. And The Orthodox version of Pascal’s Wager by far makes the most sense. I will still be praying for the Traditionalists and the true Roman Catholics.
@@Personaje123 I always have, ever since I became Catholic from Cradle Baptist 12 years ago. I’ve never attended a Novus Ordo and never would. But I really want to raise my kids in a church with young families, a valid sacrament, and sense of community (I am not Serbian but their mother is).
@@AnOpinionatedManI was unaware that avoiding schism meant that you could compromise the authority of scripture. If the council of Trent was a fraction as accommodating as this Vatican I wouldn’t feel the need to be a Lutheran.
You can always contribute to Holy, Traditional orders or directly to Pastors for “Living Expenses” in the memo. Be careful who you contribute to. Lepanto Institute has catalogued an army of Catholic named charities that fund things no Catholic should be supporting.
@Brian Holdsworth I clicked on this video more by chance. I was struck by your words, which were almost identical to what I wrote to a Roman-Catholic a few days ago on an Orthodox forum (yes, I am one of the 'separated brethren') who asked: "do you, Orthodox, expect people to be sinless to give them blessing?". My response was something like this: "these blessings are not about homosexual people but about homosexual couples. In Orthodoxy, homosexual couples do not exist. People, yes - but not couples. A 'couple' is either marriage (by definition between man and woman) or a relationship leading to marriage. Anything else does not exist except as a sinful state. Hence, 'homosexual couple' is a logical absurdity in Orthodoxy". I am glad to see similar thoughts traversing the Christian divide. That being said, I would like to outline three points in the video which I consider to be mistakes - and I present my apologies already if my tone is too direct. 1) I think it is a mistake to consider that the attitudes of the Castery, of the bishops agreeing with the document and of the Pope himself just "produce confusion at best". I disagree with this position, I believe that they know very well what they are doing, and most likely they see the harm that they produce as an unavoidable side-effect of some sort of a curageous journey to modernise the Church and extend its inclusivity (I intentionally did not double quotes around the sensitive words). I am sure that they are well intended (in their view) but I disagree with the idea that they don't know what they are doing, including the confusion they produce 2) I believe calling people who leave the Catholic Church (for whatever reason) as "cowards" is a bit lacking charity. Craddle-Catholics who've never been properly educated in the Faith may leave for a life they didn't have before. Converts joining and then leaving are basically traumatised people. For many, this recent document is the straw that broke the camel's back. Do they deserve to be labelled in a way which (I think) is unfair? Does this help people to stay, or it encourages some sort of spiritual pride? 3) The claim that, afterall, this document is a recommendation that does not touch existing dogmas and doctrines in terms of morality. In other words, nothing of substance changes, dogmatically. I beg to differ, on two grounds: - while the frozen text of the current dogmas does not change, the Church's vocabulary does change. A new word appears in official documents: 'couple'. Not only that, this term covers now both 'heterosexual' and 'homosexual' couples. Not only that, but now 'couple' and 'union' start to diverge in meaning (as you pointed out in the video). I am a believer in 'lex orandi, lex credendi' - so I doubt that these small changes in language will not creep in, eventually, into the Catechism, the Encyclicals and the dogmas - these recommendations may become a seed of future outright heresies. Past heresies did not emerge suddenly; they appeared as small ideas first, then they grew. Will this document be reverted soon or will it be augmented by others, solidifying the changes it enduces. Only time will tell, but I think the chances are unbalanced in favour of further developements in this direction and not reversals. I'd like to end this long message (if you read it, thank you) by expressing my distress about these developments. Reason? I am bound to believe that a potential East-West reconciliation is something good - despite being nowhere in sight. And from this perspective, of this hope that maybe my grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-children will be able to take Holy Eucharist either in Eastern or Western parishes, I do feel a bit distressed as well. Maybe the number of people joining Orthodoxy as a result will increase (as a fellow believer in my parish predicted) but I somehow do not find joy in that.
I love you for this video man. Thank you. You don't have to have a high level canonical or theological education to see the problem with this document. I'm trying to give PF the benefit of the doubt with respect to intent , I have to think that his appointment of Fernandez to this post has to be a consternation for his pontificate at this point. He's clearly in over his head and has had to back peddle on it and the equivocate that no one has to implement it within their diocese. 😂 I'm so grateful for you converts to the faith. You are some of the most vociferous defenders of it! Thank you again
This will be a little lengthy, my apologies. I am a convert to the Catholic faith, I was raised Lutheran, attended a Lutheran university studying theology, Holy scripture, church history, etc. in the pre-seminary program. My studies led me out of protestantism, and I became Eastern Orthodox soon after graduating. About 8 years passed and I met my wife who is Catholic, and also became involved in a new Orthodox western rite mission where we used the Tridentine mass in English. This led me back to my liturgical and cultural heritage, and my wife and I eventually found a very traditional Novus Ordo with an excellent priest, and I decided I could become Catholic. A couple of years later the priest was removed from the parish when parishoners complained to the bishop that he was celebrating the liturgy in too traditional a manner. He was told there was no other church for him despite ours being one of the largest diocese in the country with many vacant parishes, and he and the brothers left. The only other parish I could find that seemed a fit for me was an ICKSP parish, but my wife was clear that she "hated" it because it was in Latin. I've floundered spiritually since then, and seriously considered returning to Orthodoxy, especially since Feducia Suplicans. The pope has formally taught serious error. What does this due to papal infallibility? If it doesn't "qualify", when what does, and how does papal infallibility offer any value to the Church? Where does this leave "clinging to the barque of Peter" if it's literally leading the Church into heresy?
What's the heresy? And please be precise. The document condemns the idea of same sex marriage. It condemns liturgical or ritual blessings, as the German Bishops would have, so this is a direct response to them. I'd ask you to consider that Fudicia Supplicans is trying to walk a fine line of pastoral care for those struggling with same sex attraction yet are open to conversion. As a heterosexual example, if a divorced and remarried couple were considering conversion, I'm sure it'd be difficult to hear that the Church doesn't see their new marriage as valid or sew any sexual activity between them as legitimate. This would surely be a stumbling block for them, and yet the church has called them to a radical conversion and one in which I'd certainly hope a pastor would provide a spontaneous blessing for. Not to legitimize union, but to strengthen and mature the valid portions of the relationship that they do have so as to be strengthened against the invalid. And likewise for 2 same sex people. Paragraph 31 does indeed speak of blessing same sex couples, but don't remove that from context. It also states "recognizing themselves to be destitute and in need of his help-*do not claim a legitimation of their own status*, but who beg that all that is true, good, and humanly valid in their lives and their relationships be enriched, healed, and elevated by the presence of the Holy Spirit."
Come back to Holy Orthodoxy! We’re waiting for you with open arms 🤗. I’m curious though, do you think the Western Rite contributed to you leaving the Church? Would you have become Catholic if you attended a Byzantine church? I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Western Rite so I’d love to get your input.
@@marcmanolache2106 In my case it did. I came from a western liturgical background which I greatly missed, and reconnecting with it was very meaningful. When I attend a Latin mass I’m nearly brought to tears at the Asperger’s, it’s all something I deeply missed.
I know that it’s better to go to Mass as a couple but would you consider going to the ICKSP by yourself? My brother goes to a Byzantine Catholic Church but my sister in law goes to the Novus Ordo. Are you familiar with Scott Hahn? He goes to the Latin Mass while his wife goes to the Novus Ordo. I hope that you will consider this. God bless you. 🙏
Of all the Catholic channels yours is the one I love the most. You state your points clearly, compassionately and convincingly without being uncharitable. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide you.
I attended an all English speaking Coptic Orthodox Church in South Sydney. The most lovely people with a range of different people most notably White Europeans. It's a place of solitude and peace for me and the your Priest is such a positive person in my life. The more I learn and understand Church history the questions I have! I asked Fr Dan one day. The Coptic Church has not changed one bit since Saint Mark? His reply was bang on the money! Why change what Christ & the early Church Fathers gave us? Any person practising Western Catholicism today really needs to look themselves deep down and ask this. Why the change?
Thank you, Pope. Because of this beloved pope, I am an even more devoted Catholic. The Pope follows the instructions of Jesus Christ to love our neighbor. Let us not judge. Let us be merciful. Who are we? Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
Let’s remain faithful to the Catholic Church always and forever, because the Catholic Church is the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, and the Lord will never abandon His Church, even in the midst of great tribulations and difficulties! There is no better time to be Catholic than the present moment!
Brian, you are officially my favorite Catholic blogger/social media personality. You are extraordinarily charitable, honest, intelligent and Catholic. This video is perhaps your best yet. I'm praying for your continued success
Thank you for the clear words. Im loosing my faith in humanity not because of the document itself, but the way people completely ignore the obvious and start justifying it. This is some Orwell lvl kind of stuff.
The Pope did not make homosexuality not a sin, just know that if you didnt before. Its a very thin line though, but leaving the church is not the way, we have already seen it whit the cism and the lutheran reforms. Modernism and Masonry want to end the church from whitin, but we should strive to improve it from whitin, not leave it for Sedevacantism, Protestantism or Orthodoxy.
It is very clearly deliberate subversion. It is meant to make it look like the Church is marrying gay couples, even if it technically isn’t (which I think God Himself restrains the Church and the Pope from attempting). This is the long march through the institutions at work.
Ignore Popesplainers. Most normal people see clearly & bishops/members of the magisterium do so, as well. These splainers think the Pope = Catholicism, so instead of understanding, protecting, and defending the faith, they spend all their time defending the man who is Pope.
No! Study Eastern Orthodox Christianity! True Unchanged Church of Christ ☦️. God bless you all RCs and Protestants. May you get to know the true church before it’s too late! 🙏❤️🔥
There's been a couple of times, the last round of sex-abuse scandals is a prominent example, when in despair I've actively looked for another option, hoping I'd find one. Every single time I've come up with nowhere else to go. My desire to leave the Church was always an emotional desire, and my decision to stay was always an intellectual one. There's simply nowhere else to go that makes logical sense, so here I am. The one other thing I'd mention is I've also become increasingly aware of my own hypocricy when dealing with my anger over whatever new controversy is coming out of the Church. I simply have to ask myself, "are you a saint yet," and every time the answer is "no" I need to remember I have bigger and more urgent problems on my hands than whatever issue the various villians within the Church are causing on any given day.
WE, the FAITHFUL, are the CHURCH!!!! NOT the clergy!!! NOT the church BUILDING!!! but WE!!!! WITHOUT the faithful there is NO church and the clergy as well as the church buildings are USELESS!!! So DON'T lose hope and NEVER GIVE UP!!! TRUST IN GOD and the Holy Virgin and NEVER STOP PRAYING and NEVER LEAVE our beloved Roman Catholic Church!! You are NOT ALONE in this!!! 🙏💒🇳🇱❤
The pope himself asked the laity to “make a mess” in the Church: so 1) the document makes a major mess, and 2) Tucho’s subsequent “clarifications” make even more messes. Mission accomplished.
They're never going to give you a direct, heretical, challenge-able new doctrine or dogma. In case you haven't worked out the strategy yet. Gradualism. Enjoy the new springtime...
Given that Church teaching on marriage will never change (we all knew that), which one of these scenarios, if any, is OK with trads (the idea of a "trad" of course is interestingly seen nowhere in Church teaching - I guess it's a special category of blessing?) 1. one gay man being blessed by a priest at the back of a church "to live better", while another gay man is in a different room waiting for his blessing, the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying 2. two gay men in the same parish room off the back of the church, one standing behind the other in line for a blessing "to live better", the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying 3. two gay men in the same room off the narthex, standing beside each other receiving a blessing "to live better" one at a time, the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying 4. two gay men in the same room off the narthex, holding hands, receiving a blessing one at a time "to live better", the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying 5. two gay men in the same room off the narthex, holding hands, receiving a blessing at the same time "to live better", the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying What say you trads? Are each of the actions good by object, intention and circumstances? Also, is it OK that I'm asking you a question to which I already know the answer lol?
I thought surely in my heart that I would convert after RCIA converting from LDS. I’m not feeling the love after all of this heresy in the church and having an infallible pope is not serving the body of Christ with truth, I am going to attend an orthodox service. I have prayed and prayed for the one true church and God responded finally with “you will know in time” what was at first an exciting and very peaceful journey is now just making it stressful. I may have to do another round of RCIA. I beleive the document is just full of deceit and that is Satan at work. I know he’s attacks churches. Even in my LDS faith I followed the laws laid down by Jesus Christ. Loving and serving my neighbors and obeying the law of chastity, living a clean life. I just was never able to have the testimony that the Book of Mormon is true. I read it and read it and asked God and I never heard His voice. I will never talk down to or about my LDS friendships because they are genuine and probably the least judgemental and most caring and giving families I know.
I am a Filipino follower of yours and I remain a Catholic because of my faith in its wholeness and precepts of our triune God. But I yearn for God’s word everyday and for this there have been a number of Christian vlogs and laymen whom I turn to everyday as I find them more attuned to calling people to conversion back to God: pleasers of God than of men; and this while reaching out to the grassroots, too. The Catholic clergy are more confined to being populists and remaining in their safe places (i.e., airconditioned offices, automobiles) especially during the Covid high; there was only one brave soul, a priest in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines who literally went out the streets and walked the whole stretch of the Maharlika highway (3380 km) under the scorching heat of the sun to preach and bless houses along the way during the entire Holy Week. I feel that in this end of age, the elect should be more exhorting and leading people to pray more, fast often, be one with their brethren in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I do feel one with other Christian denominations that do not insult Mama Mary and the Holy Saints and souls. I believe in Mama Mary’s loving intercession and those of the holy saints, hence I remain a Catholic.
Crazy how Brian mentions the genocide of Christians in Nigeria but half of the commenters here wouldn’t commend them for their martyrdom because they weren’t Roman Catholic. Sorry but God’s grace is greater than one tradition. I’m genuinely sorry for those of you who think everyone who isn’t Catholic is a heretic you’re missing out on fellowship with your brothers who care about you.
If I had to give the most charitable reason for why the timing of the document is what it is, it would be because the document is designed to address the possibility of a full on schism occurring in Germany right now.
I believe this is the most logical answer too. Combined with what Cardinal Fernandez has said about going to Germany himself too to talk with those bishops. The document was poorly worded/translated. The issue with calling them a "couple" vs individuals in an irregular union would have been better. Charity and with reading previous documents regarding this topic it is intended for the individual sinner. We need to learn how to help bring sinners into or back into the Church, not saying we approve of their sin, regardless of what that sin is.
I wouldn't call this the "charitable" reason. Because no need to reach to a virtue like charity to explain the timing. That makes it sound like the timing is some sort of mystery. There's no mystery here. The document and the timing of it is due to what's happening in Germany...any person using simple logic can see 2+2 = 4. 4 is not the most charitable answer for 2 + 2. It's just the answer.
What is happening in Germany has been happening a long time, and it's happening many other places, for a long time. The timing coincides w/ the Anglican church doing a very similar (just a little more leaven) allowance. I don't think is coincidental at all.
It is wrong to compromise with heresy & apostasy. Both of those are worse than schisms. When Our Lord's followers could not accept his "hard sayings," he let them go. He never compromised ONE jot of his truth. The Pope Francis way is NOT the way that Christ, his Apostles, or the Catholic Church have dealt with heretics & apostates.
Take inventory and clean house. Confront your priest and bishop to demand where they stand on this issue and what they plan to do about it. Find another parish if they answer incorrectly or refuse to stand. Empty the pews, dry up the coffers, do not compromise. ~Signed an American Protestant who has seen this happen over and over and over again and understands the Catholic Church to be a vanguard for the defense of Christianity.
So I’m a straight Catholic guy. Idk what is right or wrong here. I try to think about if I was a priest and two men or two women have been coming to church and are good people how do you not offer them a blessing? How is it Christian to refuse them? If a person in active addiction went to a priest for a blessing should they not receive it? They are living in sin. Should they not be blessed? Convicted Murderers get blessings. I just don’t see the issue. If the church starts performing same sex marriage then I will be upset but until then I don’t see the issue. Yeah you can play the semantics card regarding the word couple but to me what is being said is bless the people not the sin. It’s being said in a way that will make these people comfortable to come to church. The idea I would think is to bring all the sinners in as close as possible so they can be redeemed eventually. Isn’t that the whole point? To me it seems like people just want to divide today. We all sin all the time. Why should they be judged harsher than anyone else? I really don’t think Jesus would be turning people away. Just sayin.
We are going downhill and it seems the breaks are not working. From baptizing transgender persons to blessing same sex couples, I am wondering what is next...This makes the whole Church weak and it results in punishments on all of us.

As an Eastern Orthodox Christian, we have had a massive influx of dispossessed Catholics convert because of issues like this which are symptoms of majors changes that have happened within the Roman Catholic church over the last 200 years.

This was another excellent video, Brian. I don't know how you keep these coming, but I appreciate it.
We've had bishops defending the Church BY preaching the Gospel. Have you not seen the videos from Africa?

We're in the time of the underground church. We must not run from this. We must fight and defend the actual faith. Running is not an option.

I don't see how anyone can honestly read the hole document and say this document is blessing the "Union", Its SO CLEAR its the individuals of the union, not the union that is being blessed.
All these quotes come from the document -
"the Church has the right and the duty to avoid any rite that might contradict this conviction or lead to confusion."
"the Church does not have the power to impart blessings on unions of persons of the same sex."
"what constitutes marriage-which is the “exclusive, stable, and indissoluble union between a man and a woman, naturally open to the generation of children”[6]-and what contradicts it are inadmissible..... it is only in this context that sexual relations find their natural, proper, and fully human meaning."
A Theological-Pastoral Understanding of Blessings -
"One who asks for a blessing show himself to be in need of God’s saving presence in his life and one who asks for a blessing from the Church recognizes the latter as a sacrament of the salvation that God offers. To seek a blessing in the Church is to acknowledge that the life of the Church springs from the womb of God’s mercy and helps us to move forward, to live better, and to respond to the Lord’s will."
“when one asks for a blessing, one is expressing a petition for God’s assistance, a plea to live better, and confidence in a Father who can help us live better."
"People who come spontaneously to ask for a blessing show by this request their sincere openness to transcendence, the confidence of their hearts that they do not trust in their own strength alone, their need for God, and their desire to break out of the narrow confines of this world, enclosed in its limitations."
"a blessing that descends from God upon those who-recognizing themselves to be destitute and in need of his help-do not claim a legitimation of their own status, but who beg that all that is true, good, and humanly valid in their lives and their relationships be enriched, healed, and elevated by the presence of the Holy Spirit."
"the Church does not have the power to confer its liturgical blessing when that would somehow offer a form of moral legitimacy to a union that presumes to be a marriage or to an extra-marital sexual practice."

Quote: “if your faith is such that it’s so easy for you to leave because of a difference in ideas…”
WOW. This statement is just as bad as anything else that’s been said by the popesplainers. God says same sex couples are committing one of the worst sins; the Catholic Church says they can be blessed! That’s not “a difference in ideas.” That’s satanic. That’s saying the Catholic Church knows better than God.
Hey Brian, here’s a quote for you. If your faith is such that you wouldn’t consider leaving your religion even if your religion spits in Christ’s face, it sounds like your faith is in your religion and not in God.
Read the book of Acts in the Bible to learn how a church is supposed to be.
@@BrianHoldsworth 1. God chooses faulty people EVERY time. The nature of being human means they're faulty. The problem is that the Catholic church says the Pope is infallible when they very clearly are not. 2. The Catholic church is not the longest running, that would be the Orthodox church.

Thank you so much for making this. I have been so distressed with these recent developments but you helped me remember why I converted to Catholicism in the first place.
Great as usual Brian, I will remain Catholic, but it’s not helpful to call some cowards. Some good people are genuinely scandalized by their own Church; this is not their fault but the fault of Church-men (the real cowards) that created this scandal. Those that are afraid for their children are not cowards, it’s the clergy flee from truth that are the cowards.
O agree. To have charity is to understand Catholics who are scandalized by this new document and question the Church and call them to have faith in Christ and remain rather than call them cowards.
Thank you for that comment. I was shocked at his derogatory statement directed at the people who don’t have the benefit of a priest, bishop or community willing to reject this LGBTQ agenda. We are in the trenches and don’t want our children’s souls jeopardized. We have the outside secular world against us and are taking hits from within the church. It’s disheartening to hear someone ,who is isolated from the fight ,to call us, the parents and grandparents, cowards and parasites who were never really Catholic. I give up! We have to go somewhere where we can find a community in the church who will stand with us and stand firm in the truth and teachings of our Lord. We are fighting on too many fronts and now the UA-cam podcast theologian intellectuals are throwing their stones while living in their comfortable homes on a a hill in a gated community with fellow like minded people and a priest and Bishop who are traditional all the while telling us to get into the ring with the devil and sacrifice our children to him to sustain “ The true Church”, , and if you don’t you are despicable. Something is very wrong here! Wow!
@@cynthiatrimble5301 You’re not alone. Brian is usually good, I sense that he’s just as scandalized and is really saying that more for himself, as he probably had thoughts of leaving or something of that sort - as have many of us. But it doesn’t help to attack the scandalized like he did
@@TruthSeeker-333 I was wondering about that because he doesn’t seem like a mean spirited person. I agree that Brian is one of the faithful podcasters, and I agree with his arguments to stay in the Church. Just don't call everyone questioning whether to leave a coward. These times are not for the weak and society is already against us. It is also disheartening to see the hierarchy of the Church not standing firm against the secular tide. But it is always Christ that we should lean upon, and we find Him in the Holy Eucharist! Keep praying for the pope and the Church! The devil is attacking ferociously.

@@Kitiwake I go to mass, simply as that
Sedevacantist much? Bad form.
that's 'Pope Francis' to you, arrogant peanut.
Thank you, you are right
You are miss reading that.
@@Personaje123That’s fine but I’d rather attend a church led by someone who doesn’t care less about God’s Word than climate change.
@williampeters9838 This may come as a surprise, but I actually agree with you. I obviously take issue with some parts of other denominations, but last I checked, it isn't my call. @Personaje123 same sex is a definition and couple is a definition.
at about 14:50 Brian speaks about the topic of "scandalously bad popes and bishops" we've had in the past.

You have again demonstrated excellent communication skills, thank you for your videos, especially the last few re: Fiducia Suplicans.
Do catholics hate each other? Btw, Jesus clearly instituted the Church..as st Paul said: "the Church is the pillar of the Truth."
The document is expressly clear that couple ≠ union. Fernández also made that clear in the Pillar interview.
Yeah. I listened thinking he was going to say something deep, but instead he was debating semantics. Sad.

The good Cardinal's understanding of the word "couple," reminds me of a conversation that Alice had with Humpty Dumpty in "Through the Lookinging Glass:"
'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less.'
'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'
'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master - that's all.'
Staying Catholic in season or out. He never came down from the Cross.
May as well just throw objective morality out the window. In the Catholic Church, morality is subjective based on the time period, location or people group, yet they claim to serve the God who never changes.
The god of surprises is not the same as the same God who declared “I am.”
Just as the spirit of Vatican II is not the same as the Holy Spirit.
That was a fantastic explanation of what can only be seen as a problem document. Thank you my young friend.
Brian, there is no problem with the recent document. People are making up and creating problems that do not exist. The document does not alter, change, reinterpret church teaching at all. Stay cool and keep the faith. The Magisterium is safe -that was the promise. ❤
If it changes nothing, why the need for the document at all? James Martin said it was a monumental change. Was he wrong?
The problem is that the mo of the lgbt cult is to infiltrate by degrees. They make small seemingly innocuous changes, and then before you know it they've infected every facet of society. Look up the Overton Window, how slight change in the present is the safest way to produce major change in the future.

@Brian Holdsworth
I clicked on this video more by chance.
I am sure that they are well intended (in their view) but I disagree with the idea that they don't know what they are doing, including the confusion they produce
2) I believe calling people who leave the Catholic Church (for whatever reason) as "cowards" is a bit lacking charity.
I beg to differ, on two grounds:
- while the frozen text of the current dogmas does not change, the Church's vocabulary does change. A new word appears in official documents: 'couple'. Not only that, this term covers now both 'heterosexual' and 'homosexual' couples. Not only that, but now 'couple' and 'union' start to diverge in meaning (as you pointed out in the video). I am a believer in 'lex orandi, lex credendi' - so I doubt that these small changes in language will not creep in, eventually, into the Catechism, the Encyclicals and the dogmas
- these recommendations may become a seed of future outright heresies.

No better time! I'm with you wholeheartedly on that!
Orthodox>Protestant>Catholic
@@ArcanistBlack Not exactly sure what that means? 🤔
Well said
The Pope did not make homosexuality not a sin, just know that if you didnt before.
Given that Church teaching on marriage will never change (we all knew that), which one of these scenarios, if any, is OK with trads (the idea of a "trad" of course is interestingly seen nowhere in Church teaching - I guess it's a special category of blessing?)
1. one gay man being blessed by a priest at the back of a church "to live better", while another gay man is in a different room waiting for his blessing, the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying
2. two gay men in the same parish room off the back of the church, one standing behind the other in line for a blessing "to live better", the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying
3. two gay men in the same room off the narthex, standing beside each other receiving a blessing "to live better" one at a time, the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying
4. two gay men in the same room off the narthex, holding hands, receiving a blessing one at a time "to live better", the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying
5. two gay men in the same room off the narthex, holding hands, receiving a blessing at the same time "to live better", the priest not knowing much about their relationship and with no need to pry, since blessings don't require prying
What say you trads?
This was settled at VII as "separated brethren." Many on this thread reject the 21st Ecumenical Council of the Church, unfortunately....

@@nealkriestererI love that! 4 is not the most charitable answer, it's just the answer. Bravo! I'll use that if you don't mind 😊
Just sayin.
No, the Catholic Church never had a worse Pope than Francis. Maybe not even anti-popes.
I’m a big fan of Francis
@Wgaither1 you're a big bundle of sticks
Should never even consider leaving the church. We should join in prayer for Francis
You shouldn't ever leave the church, just leave the papist heresy organization known as the "catholic church".
Great job Brian! Never leave the catholic church, your right on my friend. Always keep the faith, God bless
“Lord to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life “
We are going downhill and it seems the breaks are not working. From baptizing transgender persons to blessing same sex couples, I am wondering what is next...This makes the whole Church weak and it results in punishments on all of us.
