  • There are many similarities and differences between the Catholic Church and the Protestant denominations. In this video, Fr. Mike Schmitz narrows the differences down to one thing that really sets Catholicism apart from other Christian Churches: authoritative teaching.

As an Atheist in a relationship with a full-time Catholic boyfriend, all these Fr. Mike's videos gives me so much insight into the Catholicism.
I really want to learn and understand why for my boyfriend church and God himself is a very important part in his life.
Religion is so new to me and I still don't get many things, so I am very grateful of how easy Fr. Mike explains Catholicism. Thank you! :)
Update: 5 months later I became a Catholic myself! :)

I know this will seem like a strange suggestion, but Jordan Petersons biblical lectures absolutely made me at least open the door to being able to believe. I only say it's strange because he is not a religious leader and never asserts that the bible is a historical fact. I went to Catholic school, was baptized, etc. I never once felt like I could believe it. And I think there are two reasons. The over simplification from actual churches, especially the evangelists and the over science-ification in society. Jordan is a little hard to fallow if you have never heard any of his stuff, but it's on UA-cam. Catholicism seems to be the closest to actually converging with Jordan opened my mind to. The bible is quite literally a map to the fabric of reality and consciousness. The bible is also so so so coded. So when people take it literally, they are doing a disservice. Sorry that was so long. But JPB analyzing the bible in a literary fashion has brought tens of thousands of people to actually attempt to read and understand the bible. Or at least say.. what would happen if I tried.

In all respect, I think that the Catholic church is false. In Catechism 1257, it says that baptism is necessary for salvation. Yet, Paul writes, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10.13)." Which is it? Will a person be saved by calling on the Name of the Lord or do they need to be baptized?
Moreover, the Catholics I have conversed with have been extremely dishonest. That is, they will quote Bible verses that, supposedly, 'prove' that baptism is necessary for salvation, yet, even if they are right, they contradict Romans 10.13. One Catholic was at least honest enough to say, "No, it is not true that whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved." She was heretical, but honest!
Remember the words of Paul, "Whoever preaches a different gospel, let him be accursed." I hope that you will have a personal encounter with Christ - just by asking! Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:8-9‬
‬‬“Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:4-5‬
‬‬“yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.”
      ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:16, 21‬ ‭‬‬
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel- not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Remember to check everything you are taught with the Word of God. Jesus said that if we continue in His Word, we will be His disciples. So many people get lost in all kinds of traditions. I hope that you are genuinely born again, seated in the heavenlies with Christ, that you know Him and are comfortable talking with Him without any mediator. Are you close friends with Christ Himself? That is the Bible's invitation! Christ died on a Cross so that we may know Him. Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

    • @Jacqueline4671
      @Jacqueline4671 5 місяців тому

UH-OH, are you thinking that you're saved because Jesus died on the Cross? ? ? ?
Jesus paid our sin debt in full on Calvary, BUT that did not impute His Righteousness to us OR save us OR forgive our sins.
To be saved and sealed AND have all your sins forgiven, and to receive the Righteousness of God (be justified) one must TRUST the finished work of Jesus Christ on Calvary, by "believing" 1 Cor 15:1-4 KJB, the gospel of the grace of God, the only gospel that saves anyone today, in our present "dispensation of the Grace of God".
      Please consider reading:
      Rom 3:20-28 KJB
      1 Cor 1:21 KJB
      Eph 3:1-9 KJB
      Acts 26:18 KJB.

    • @JLS53
      @JLS53 5 місяців тому

@@Jacqueline4671 From what you wrote, I think we are in agreement. The key word is 'believing.' It is different that what our culture teaches, but it is a faith based on a personal encounter with Christ. In the same way, it is written, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved." Similar to the word 'believe,' the word 'Name' has a deep meaning. It means that we are to pray according to the will and promises of God. That said, if someone genuinely calls upon the Name of the Lord, that person will be filled with the Holy Spirit, born again, receiving, instantly, life eternal in Christ.
I was raised by an atheist and heard the gospel for the first time at the age of 17. Shortly after, I prayed my first prayer, "Is there Jesus? I would like to meet Him!" I instantly met the Lord. All heaven filled my soul and it felt like my heart was made out of gold. I walked away, thinking, "That was heaven, but I am on earth. What is heaven doing on earth?" I was eternally saved the moment I called upon the Name of the Lord. In 46 years now, I have not had even one second of doubt for my salvation. That is because I am in constant, unbroken fellowship with God. Jesus said, "My Father will give the Holy Spirit to whoever asks of Him." Ask and you shall receive! Cursed be anyone who perverts the pure simplicity of the gospel.
Salvation is simply a meeting with God. As it is written, "This is eternal life, that you know God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent." Do you know Christ or do you know about Him? Will He know you as His friend when He sees you or will He say, "Depart from me; I never knew you"? Christ died on a Cross so that we may know Him. Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

I found it difficult to adjust to Protestant Christianity because Islam preaches Holiness and the protestant churches were lacking in that aspect and when I joined Catholicism I was so happy because Catholics really treat the Trinity as Holy and worship God with Holiness and seriousness and not Lukewarmness. Its important to worship God as Holy because Jesus in the second coming comes back for a Holy people. We need to be Holy like our Father in Heaven is Holy! I love being catholic now.

The Roman Catholic Church uses the argument that Peter is the rock to which Jesus referred as evidence that it is the one true church. As we have seen, Peter’s being the rock is not the only valid interpretation of this verse. Even if Peter is the rock in Matthew 16:18, this is meaningless in giving the Roman Catholic Church any authority. Scripture nowhere records Peter being in Rome. Scripture nowhere describes Peter as being supreme over the other apostles. The New Testament does not describe Peter as being the “all authoritative leader” of the early Christian church. Peter was not the first pope, and Peter did not start the Roman Catholic Church. The origin of the Catholic Church is not in the teachings of Peter or any other apostle. If Peter truly was the founder of the Roman Catholic Church, it would be in full agreement with what Peter taught (Acts chapter 2, 1 Peter, 2 Peter).
In addition, the New Testament makes it abundantly clear that Christ is both the foundation (Acts 4:11, 12; 1 Corinthians 3:11) and the head (Ephesians 5:23) of the church. It is a mistake to think that here He is giving either of those roles to Peter
The origin of the Catholic Church is the tragic compromise of Christianity with the pagan religions that surrounded it. Instead of proclaiming the gospel and converting the pagans, the Catholic Church “Christianized” the pagan religions and “paganized” Christianity. By blurring the differences and erasing the distinctions, the Catholic Church made itself attractive to the idolatrous people of the Roman Empire. One result was the Catholic Church becoming the supreme religion in the Roman world for centuries. However, another result was the most dominant form of Christianity apostatizing from the true gospel of Jesus Christ and the true proclamation of God’s Word
Of course, the Roman Catholic Church denies the pagan origin of its beliefs and practices. The Catholic Church disguises its pagan beliefs under layers of complicated theology and church tradition. Recognizing that many of its beliefs and practices are utterly foreign to Scripture, the Catholic Church is forced to deny the authority and sufficiency of Scripture.
On the contrary. Even a cursory reading of the New Testament will reveal that the Catholic Church does not have its origin in the teachings of Jesus or His apostles. In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy, worship/adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix), petitioning saints in heaven for their prayers, apostolic succession, the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sin to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture. So, if the origin of the Catholic Church is not in the teachings of Jesus and His apostles, as recorded in the New Testament, what is the true origin of the Catholic Church?

Regarding Mary, Catholics point out (if I am not mistaken) that Jesus commanded John from the cross to look after his mother, who was with him, at the foot of the cross. Catholics seem to really appreciate Mary simply because she was Jesus’ mother and ask her to pray for them as one might ask a friend here on Earth to. I heard a Catholic say this whole Mary thing was quite cosy. Mary must have quite a headache, I think. She was human, after all. Many statues of Mary in Catholic churches caused me to think she is idolized, and yet I can see the Catholic point of view. An affection for Mary is another way of being close to Jesus. Catholics do pray the way Jesus instructed, saying the Lord’s Prayer, which for me seems to be the most important thing.

What should we call ourselves? One need only be Natsarim, and neither a Catholic (Latin, "universal") nor a Christianos (Greek word for the modern word cretin). Yahusha said, "I am the Vine, you are the Natsarim" (Yn. 15:5). Paul was accused of being a "ringleader of the sect of the Natsarim" (Acts 24:5). The Natsarim cry-out on the hills of Afraim in the last days (YirmeYahu 31:6), not the Christians or Catholics.
One needs no other authority to lead them but the living Yahusha in them, Who guides us into all Truth in obedience to His Word. Google the words Yahusha, and Natsarim. Yahusha and His first Natsarim were neither Catholic, nor Christianos. Their orders were not received from men, but directly from Yahusha, Who breathed on them to understand the Writings of Truth. Men invented the sacraments many centuries after the first Natsarim, and those who set up the Magisterium called us heretics for not recognizing their authority. They chased us into the valleys (labeling us Waldenses), and we were labeled Huguenots in the Jesuit Oath. The dragon is enraged at the offspring of the woman, and makes war against those who obey the Commandments of Alahim, and hold to the testimony of Yahusha (Rev. 12:17).

"it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life" (John 6:63-64). So, if "the flesh is of no avail," why would we have to eat Jesus' flesh in order to have eternal life? It does not make sense, until Jesus tells us that the words He speaks are "spirit." Jesus is saying that this is not a literal teaching, but a spiritual one. The language ties in perfectly w wgat oaul said “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship" (Romans 12:1).
Hebrews 7:27 says “Unlike the other high priests, He (Jesus) does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins ONCE for all when He offered Himself."
1 Peter 3:18, "For Christ died for sins ONCE for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God..." Christ's once-for-all death on the cross was sufficient to atone for all of our sins (1 John 2:2).
Therefore, Christ's sacrifice does not need to be re-offered. Instead, Christ's sacrifice is to be received by faith (John 1:12; 3:16). Eating Christ's flesh and drinking His blood are symbols of fully receiving His sacrifice on our behalf, by grace through faith. In addition to praying to the dead, the graven images & Christ still hanging on the cross on most churches, a characteristic of demons would not be something He instructs of His followers.
Put your faith in Gods Word alone, not these man who manipulate the gospel. Mat 7:21-23 warns every religion that’s based off works.

I appreciate your points in this video and for offering clarification. However, I respectfully disagree that the governance of the hierarchy of the church has anymore authority to decided the “grey” areas of scripture and doctrine than a single individual who is deeply devoted to the study of scripture, to prayer, and to God.
It seems that your point assume that later Christians would not have come to their own conclusion of the divinity and humanity of Jesus through scripture alone. In John 14:26 Jesus says, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” I’m not saying that God has not appointed certain leaders for certain positions in the church, but that is predicated on the fact that scripture, prayer, and the Holy Spirit is sufficient to teach you “all things.”

God does not say that we MUST do something specific to be saved with nothing but empty words of faith. No! His words are true because He is the Truth, and we can't omit His words when they specify the Way (like in John 6: "Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed."). You can't deny that and claim to be a real believer ("Blahh, I think I don't need that, thank you, Jesus!").
We have to be faithfull, seek and love Him to, after that, OBEY and follow Him, instead of just believe. He who does not believe will not be saved because only who believes with all his heart will obey the commandments of Jesus Christ. There's no one that obeys withouth a precedent faith, that's why faith is necessary to be saved, though it's only the first step to salvation: eat His flesh and drink His blood it's not an option (the word "indeed" proves that His sayings was no metaphor or parable).
      Read John 6 entirely.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". There is only one name that saves. It's Jesus'. Not Mary, not Peter or any other saint. The scripture is very clear on this. The Old Testament shows how we are fallen, sinful, in need of Savior. The New Testament clearly shows Jesus is the long awaited Messiah and only One who is worthy & able to to take away our sins if we repent and believe on his name alone. Matthew 7:14 small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life and only a few find it. ... That is because we want to find our own paths to God and reject his Son, Jesus, who said *He* was the way, the truth, the life that we must believe in to get to God and to eternal life in heaven. God provided Jesus as a sacrifice to cover our sins if we repent & believe in Jesus' name. So that is where division comes in. Because people want to accept the idea that many roads lead to Heaven & to God. It sounds good, loving, inclusive in our modern day culture to accept everyone's version. But in the end we better pray for wisdom to clearly understand and obey what God says in scripture. Because He will have the final say in the end at the final judgement. Accept Jesus, his Son, repent, believe, obey... Jesus is what unites true believers. He is the centerpiece of the hearts and lives of true believers. There is power in the name of Jesus to unite believers and to call sinners to repentance.

As someone who is born catholic but used to not practice it, only goes to church on sundays, only christmas easter type of believer and never understood the importance of faith because i was too broken by traumas and people, recently i have slowly found my way back home again and slowly understood the importance of Apostle's Creed prayer. i went to several non-catholic churches when i was a teenager and it took me so long to realize why their sermons made me more confused about christianity. i believe it's because they don't have a strong pillar or structure, or authority like Fr. Mike says in this video. i'm glad that i'm slowly learning the truth and how important the catholic church is in my life. i will forever hold apostle's creed prayer dear in my heart.

Thank you Father Mike. I love your videos because you do a wonderful job of helping me understand the Catholic Church. I moved from a Baptist church to the Catholic Church about 8 years ago. I am now 62 years old. I attended RCIA and my wife and I was married in the church even thought we have been married 37 years. She is a cradle Catholic. To make a long story short, we were happy with the church we were attending but then one day, while driving I heard a strong voice tell me, “Go to the Catholic Church.” I was shaken by this and went home and told my wife and brother. They asked me what I was going to do. I said it was probably my imagination and I then ignored it. Well about 2 months later the exact same thing happened only with more authority. Well, there was no ignoring it this time. My wife was excited to return to the Catholic Church and told me about the church and RCIA. The next Sunday we went to a Catholic Church nearby. When we got to the church a man was greeted people so I explained I was new and I asked him about RCIA. He said that the next session started Thursday and he also plans to attend as a helper in the class. Well he ended up being my sponsor in RCIA and his wife and him stood up with my wife and I when we were married in the church. We later encouraged me to join the KofC. I am telling you all this to show how God planned it all out and we are now in the original Christian church. I now keep watch for when God puts other opportunities and changes in front of me. Once again thank you. 🙏🏻

Hi Jeff. I appreciate that the Catholic faith is important to you. However, I hope you will accept, in genuine Christian love, this correction from the Word of God. For example, we agree on the importance of baptism, but if you say that baptism is necessary for salvation, you will pollute the message of Christ. Remember, the Apostle Paul wrote that if someone preaches a different gospel, they should be accursed.
This is so serious. I hope that you consider the words of the Apostle Paul, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved." Can it get any simpler? If you call, you will be saved. The gospel of Christ is the same gospel, "Ask and you shall receive." It is not, "...ask and be baptized" Jesus also said, "My Father will give the Holy Spirit to whoever asks of Him." Hence, by asking, you can receive the Holy Spirit, be baptized in the Holy Spirit, be born again, with the Holy Spirit bearing witness that you are saved (Romans 8.16). Jesus said, "This is eternal life, that you know God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent." So, knowing God is eternal life and you meet Him by asking! Jesus Christ is the light of the world

Ken your are miss understanding the gospel on baptism as well as the Catholic Church’s teaching on baptism. If your idea is true than, why have baptism at all. The Truth is that baptism is required for any soul to be saved. However as the Church teaches there is baptism of water, desire, and blood. All who are in heaven have been baptized by one of these three.
Mark 16:16 He who believes “and” is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Father Mike, Thank you. I have been a member of The Church my whole life. I was raised in. Community of like minded and practicing Catholics from my first breath. I was raised in a community where we were taught, as Jesus preaches, to love one another, turn the other cheek, honor you parents, etc. Then we moved to the Wheeling Charleston diocese. Still practicing but for the first time had to defend my faith! I could not understand how fellow Christians would attack other Christians. I also could not grasp that these same Christians did not realize that Catholics are Christians. Finally I also could not understand that The Church of which I am a member of was questioned on its origin? Jesus started The Church with Saint Peter and it actually states this in the Bible, which, by the way, was also attacked. Also was questioned about Mary, and the Saints and the Eucharist etc. ok now that I have gotten all that off of my chest, I want to thank you for trying to help educate the masses about our Catholic faith. I just sat through a UA-cam channel called VaticanCatholic and those religious attacking Pope Francis and all Popes back to just before Vatican II. It was very disturbing.

Read The Bible and you will know the many many flaws in catholicism. We do not need to confess to a priest to be forgiven, but to God. We do not pray to or through anyone- when Jesus rose from the dead the veil between man and God was torn. It says to call no man father (likely meaning church leaders) and catholics call the priest father. It says nothing about a priest not being allowed to marry- it actually says that doctrines of demons will say to not be given in marriage and abstain from certain foods (catholicm and islam), it says nothing about the pope, and the church founded by peter was not catholicism but the church of the apostles- catholicism began when the romans realized they could not stop christianity so they adopted it and made it their own by adding their pagan practices. If mary was to be so revered and praised and idolized- then it would say it. Jesus says no one born of a woman was as great as John the Baptist- mary was not as great as him- and neither or them should be idolized.
Under the vatican is a painting of lucifer and there are idols all around (likely ancient romans idols). If catholicism was the “one true church” then it would never have this- it would be destroyed immediately. Remember that ezekiel had a vision where he looked inside the temple and saw wicked abominations and leaders worshipped idols. Follow Jesus Christ, not the catholic church. Do not join denominations.

I have been through a long journey of introspection, suffering, and searching for truth. I am not tied down to any single church or denomination. I was raised southern Baptist, I go to a church of Christ (lite) , and I am generally intellectually open to anything as long as it is rational and consistent with scripture, but also, what I have experienced and seen in life. All the lessons I've learned.
I've been very slowly putting the pieces of the puzzle of life and God together over the years of my life, and it's something I take very seriously. And it looks like God is finally revealing himself to me in a powerful way.
My sister is getting confirmed to the Orthodox church in a couple days, and I might follow suit. I really admire the mysticism of the orthodox church, and how divine everything feels as compared to the typical protestant church.
I have studied the teachings of the Catholics and I am starting to realize that I believe everything I've come across so far. And it appears from everything that I've seen, catholicism is correct in their teachings. I just dont know if I'm ready to commit to either one of them yet. I don't think it's something I should just jump into, because I don't feel like I am ready to accept it yet. Please pray for my journey and that I find God.

You are saved by 1 Cor 15: 1-4,. Romans 10:9 says basically the same. There are more than 100 verses in the KJV that state that salvation is by faith alone. Paul taught "faith alone".
Please do not listen to these cults like the catholic church. Paul warned over and over that false teachers would pervert the Gospel.
We gain our entry into heaven by believing in 1 Cor 15: 1-4. Then after we are saved, the Holy Spirit moves and guides us to His pleasure and will.
Yes, we should do good works, we should be baptized, have communion. Jesus expects us to. We are created in Christ to do good works, but works are detached from our salvation.
Roman's 4:5 "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness".
Do not trust any church that perverts the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do not trust any church that tells you that there is something else you must do to "prop up the cross". Read Ephesians 2: 8,9.

They are very anti-Catholic and it's very obvious, I think a lot of the protestants get their information about the Roman Catholic Church from them. The reason I say this is because I've seen many protestants here on UA-cam quoting them verbatim.
Well, according to Donnie Swaggart, he states that the King James Version was the first Bible, and that the Catholics *added* the other books later. Is this true?

Thank you for the long detailed reply. You sound like an informed man on the matter. My name is Robert De Los Santos btw.
Concerning your critisms of The Catholic Church when you were still protestant, I can say that I was taught to criticize Catholics in my Sunday school class. I remember the teacher telling us the Catholics didn't know who Jesus was (is), and that Catholics pray to a "dead Jesus" as signified by the Crucifix.
So when I would challenge Catholics on their views it was just mockery. But what is leading me away from Protestantism is all the disunity among their many churches. I went to a church in a small town that had about 12 churches there. There is another small town down the way called Kingsburg in California, that's in the Guinness book of World records for having the most churches for a small town. All these churches have one thing in common, they've abandoned the religion of Christianity and preach about having a "relationship" with Jesus. The thing is, who decides the terms of the relationship? It's certainly not Jesus, considering all the feminists, homosexuals, weak beta males, and youth on their cell phones during church service. Not to mention the loud rock n' roll music being played. It's more like it's a social gathering instead of a house of God. And this Jimmy Swaggart ministries, I could go on forever about them. Which reminds me of a book called, Jimmy Swaggart Made Me Catholic by Tim Staples who worked as a youth minister at their Bible camp. Have you heard of it?

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
      >Genesis 1:14
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
      Months were already established.
      >Genesis 8:5
And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
      >Genesis 8:13
And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------
Days are determined by the phases of the Moon cycle.
1st day of every month begins with New moon.
So, when is God's New Year's day? March 21 (Abib) for 2023.
Abib (also called Nisan), an ear of corn, the month of newly-ripened grain ( Exodus 13:4; 23:15); It began about the time of the vernal equinox (marks the beginning of spring), It was called Nisan, after the Captivity ( Nehemiah 2:1).
On the fifteenth day of the month, harvest was begun by gathering a sheaf of barley, which was offered unto the Lord on the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
      On the 3rd day of creation;
      >Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
On the 6th day, Adam and Eve, and all the creatures that God created were able to eat the fruits, grains and nuts.
      -------------------
When the children of Israel (People of God) were under the bondage of Egypt for 430 years, they have forgotten what was established by God.
He reiterated the timelines according His guidelines.
      >Deuteronomy 16:1
Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the Lord thy God: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.
      >Exodus 12:2
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
      >Leviticus 23:5
In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover.
      >2 Chronicles 35:1
Moreover Josiah kept a passover unto the Lord in Jerusalem: and they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.
      >Ezra 6:19
And the children of the captivity kept the Passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.
God has set every events according to His timeline with His Calendar.
      -Seventh day Sabbath
      -Flood
      -Birth of Issac.
-Freeing 430 years of bondage the children of Israel who dwelt in Egypt. (Exodus 12:40)
      -Feast days (pointing to Jesus).
      -70 years of Babylon captivity.
      -70 years of Daniel's prophecy.
      -Birth of Jesus.
      -Death of Jesus
      -Pentecost.
      -Gospel open to the gentiles.
-1260 years prophecy (Under the Papal power/dark age of Bible)
-2300 years prophecy (Cleansing of the sanctuary - began atonement of Jesus)
Date of Day of the Lord's return was not given.
      >2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
So should we dismiss God's calendar?
      Jesus said,
      >Matthew 4:4
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
As we are children of God, should we not keep all His word?
Nevertheless, we are using secular calendar (Gregorian) in tune with the world.
Feast of the Tabernacle remains to be observed. Will be fulfilled at the 2nd coming of Jesus.
      Also,
      >Isaiah 66:23
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.
      ====================================================
Question of the week: What does it mean when Jesus said,
      >Mark 3:33
And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

It is and he is right to admit it at 7:30 because it's the 21st century and there is no shame in that especially in the scientific era and the role the Church had in both promoting and impeding scientific discovery in their mixed history. What can be described as 'scientific' in the Bible is also nowhere near the standard achieved by the modern scientific; they are more mythical and conjectural in nature e.g the astronomy and cosmology in the Bible.

It can depend whether you interpret what is written: literally or figuratively. The Bible says that there are "four corners of the earth". Is it then teaching that the earth is flat because it states this? No, but it then means that there are literal or figuratively interpretations. Issues arise when someone takes what is written literally when it is figurative.

*O People of the Book!* Do not go to extremes regarding your faith; say nothing about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger of Allah and the fulfilment of His Word through Mary and a spirit created by a command from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers and do not say, “Trinity.” Stop!-for your own good. Allah is only One God. Glory be to Him! He is far above having a son! To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is sufficient as a Trustee of Affairs. [Surah An-Nisa; 4:171]

Christianity doesn't say you need go to church to be saved. You need to pray and accept Jesus as lord and Savior and walk with him throughout your day. Going to church will not save you, it's a beautiful place to go, sing and pray but Catholics think by going to Church you'll be saved and that's its the only place where the Lord is. But when God speaks through the Bible, he offers eternal truth. The difference with Christians is Catholics believe by doing good works you will be saved but Christianity is living for Christ Jesus in everything we do in our daily lives we talk to God pray through the day and listen to his word and only his word and not just do good deals hoping to be saved and connect to him. He's says to study the word of God in 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. And in Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV) he says Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. For Christians the word of God as it says in romans
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Scripture also tells us to not worship anyone other than God which is what's the Catholic church teaches from a young age to pray to Mary but Jesus says 1 Corinthians 10:19-20 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Christianity is harder than any other religion but honestly its not a religion is a relationship out Creator and Lord Jesus Christ because. Christians believe you will not obtain salvation, by Peter, Moses, Not by Works, Not by Mary, Not by attending church, not by a rosary, not by law, not by meditation, not by confession, not by water baptism, not by holy water, not by sabbath, not by inscens, nor by devotion to idols, because in 1 Timothy 2:5 it says For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. There is no Hail Mary in her Bible because in Romans 3:23 Jesus says For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; There's a difference between Catholics and Christians and Christianity is not in a church it is Invisible and the Kingdom Of God lies in us who believe in him and call on his name and live by his word because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. John 4:4 (KJV)

When I was incarcerated I saw people laugh at and take advantage of the pastors who passed out free bibles. Every time a new pastor came you would have someone who would be saved every time. You had people who would be saved every time and take it as a joke. I love the fact that with catholicism, you are normally required to practice what you preach to even be allowed to be a member of the church. I can understand the dislike of rules and acceptance of everybody because I grew up methodist, and Jesus preaches acceptance, but I have seen quite a few times where people who were saved and accepted Jesus seemed artificial and less true. And seeing this angered me. Your life should have structure. A lot of Christians today live loosely and do not practice what they preach. I know we are all human, but sometimes it just gets ridiculous and this is why I strayed away from Christianity and became agnostic. They were hypocrites. Now, I'm looking into catholicism because the structure and the rules, and actually living your everyday life like what you read in the Bible is seen more in catholicism. A lot of people believe in Jesus, but do nothing to practice what he preached and did. They think simply believing in him is enough. Part of believing in him is putting in the work and doing your daily duty as a Christian soldier. And a lot of people do not do this. God is a cheat code for the afterlife for a lot of people and they sin and do terrible things and then later do them again because they think they are saved and will be forgiven. This is no way to worship in my opinion.

Its not about rules and structures such as man made traditions and practices but about being saved in GOD's Grace by faith and Christ structuring your heart. ONLY GOD WORKS at structuring people and its a life process through trials and tribulations in which everyday Christ turns your hearts. @Chris Tian - You have wonderful insights & articulate them so well. I am so appreciative of the fact that you are willing to learn about the true teachings of the Catholic Faith in order to make your decision, & do not allow yourself to be swayed by the false witness so often given by those who pretend to speak with authority about what Catholics believe, when they actually know pretty much NOTHING of the teachings of the Catholic Church. (Bearing false witness is a crime against God, but there is much of it posted about the Catholic Faith in this comment section, from people who SAY they follow Christ's teachings.)
Christ indeed came to save us & He offers us salvation, but He will not force us to accept that salvation... it is within our free will to accept or reject what He offers. When we SAY THE WORDS, "I accept", but by our actions spit in our Lord's face, with disobedience & unrelenting pursuit of worldliness (making false gods of anything that makes us feel good), our Lord hears us say, "I reject you & the salvation you offer"... He is not naive... He can read between the lines.
If we truly accept our Lord & the salvation He offers, we enter into relationship with Him, & we use His teachings & the guides He left for us, to become humble & obedient; we take on the work of trying to get better at doing His will.
You are right that the Catholic Church has lots of rules & structure... it is one our Lord's great gifts to us... to help us grow in relationship with Him... to help us give Him what He most wants from us, our obedience. Our obedience is how we prove to Him that we love Him, & an excellent way to make it clear that we truly do accept the salvation He offers.
God bless you, Chris Tian! The Catholic Faith is incredibly deeply meaningful & full of spiritual richness... the more you learn about the true teachings of the Faith, the more in awe I expect you will become!
I recommend studying The Holy Mass to come to understand the meaning behind every aspect of The Mass, to allow yourself to experience the fullness of the gift it is. (I used to have a great podcast on my phone for this & would love to share the link with you, but my phone died recently & I have no access to it right now!) The Real Presence of our Lord, Jesus in The Holy Eucharist is an incredible Gift... I cannot fathom anyone knowing of this & yet denying themselves the opportunity to receive our Lord in this precious Sacrament!
I also recommend learning about The Divine Mercy (TDM), as well as praying The Divine Mercy Chaplet (TDMC) each day. To learn more, Father Chris Alar has a great UA-cam video about St. Faustina & TDM, & Matt Maher has a beautiful version of TDMC in song on UA-cam.

According to the Holy Quran, Jesus didn't claim that he was the son of Allah(God) and he didn't introduce himself as the God but He said:
      Quran - Zuhruf 64
I seek refugee in Allah from the Satan.
In the name of Allah ,Rahman ,Rahim
"Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a straight path."
      -----------------
And on the resurrection day Allah will ask Jesus about the Christian faith.
      Quran - Maaide 116-118
And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities (gods) besides Allah?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.
I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness.
If You should punish them - indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them - indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
      ----------------
If you love Jesus, accept him as a Messenger not as the God and not as the son of Allah. If you are follower of Jesus, believe in Messenger Muhammad, too. Because that's what he really wants you to do. And he heralded the coming of Messenger Muhammed. Jesus said to his people this👇👇👇
      Quran -Saff -6
And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This is obvious magic."
      Quran -Women 171
O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

I converted to Catholic finally after years of Lutheranism. The thing I could never reconcile was that in all Protestant religions, the 1500 or so years after the crucifixion and before the reformations are completely forgotten about or ignored. The church started with St. Peter so why ignore that? Not to mention that many of my questions were answered when going through RCIA. I took the classes not particularly intending to convert but not ruling it out. When I realized how much continuity there was and how many of my lifelong questions were answered, there was no going back!

These groups had the real faith, but the RCC felt threatened by them and put them to the stake! Now, who am I to say that? Homework on all doctrines throughout Christianity. Catholicism is riddled with corruption and additions, so not for me thank you.
I am aware that there are some lovely Christians within the Church independent of doctrine, so I’ll just do my best in getting on with Loving God above everything else and others as myself.
Within that there will be a few Roman Catholic friends.

@@VeronicaMartinez- impressive, considered and well researched response. As a Christian, l’ve wondered the value of the church in our contemporary world. The Priest suggests, if you have a question of Biblical interpretation or understanding he’s your go too guy for an answer. As the focal point of Canonical interpretation if not your Priest, then who? For what it’s worth, l understand the Koran is taken from the Bible, taken from the Torah, taken from Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten (Amen = Amon, first monotheistic), taken from Assyrian God Ashur, taken from Amorites who merge one God from the many Sumerian Gods.

@@jpercy4811 This person is misleading you. We know from the earliest Christian writers--the church fathers--that Peter and Paul founded the church in Rome. And Peter actually does tell us that he was in Rome, but he does so in code. In Peter's letters, he mentions that he's hiding "in Babylon." However, the ancient city of Babylon had been destroyed for centuries, and was almost 2,000 miles away from the Mediterranean where the Apostles began their work. As it turns out, the underground Christians in Rome, under the persecution of emperor Nero, referred to Rome as "Babylon" in their letters, as code. This is because Peter and the other early Christians didn't want to give away the locations of their friends, and Babylon was synonymous with "sinful city." The earliest Christians taught that Peter was crucified upside down by Roman authorities when he was caught, and that Paul was beheaded.
Irenaeus, a Greek bishop, wrote in 180 AD that Rome was the center of Christianity, "Because of its origin in Peter and Paul." (Against Heresies.)
A question I would pose to Protestant critics who insist that the Roman Catholic Church wasn't started by Peter (and Paul) in Rome, would be this: If it's not the Catholic Church, then which church is it? Where is this church that Jesus founded on Peter, that even Hades didn't prevail against? Where is it today? Was YOUR church founded by Peter?
Don't take my word for it, read the Church fathers. Ignatius of Antioch, Clement, Polycarp, Irenaeus, Justin Martyr, John Chyrsostom, etc. Ignatius of Antioch, disciple of the apostle John and the first bishop of Antioch appointed by Peter, wrote in 110 that he didn't do anything "Without the permission of the Roman pontiff."
Peter's disciple Linus was the second Pope, and while we don't have any of Linus's letters, he and Clement were mentioned by Paul as "his fellow workers in Christ" whose names "were written in the book of life." Clement became the fourth Pope, and we DO have Clement's epistles.
Jimmy Akins has a great book compiling together their writings called "Fathers Know Best."
While I can't tackle all of Veronica's gish-gallop, I can summarize a lot of her egregious errors. For example, confessing to a priest comes from James 5:16 where the early Christians are told to confess their sins to one another, and from Jesus Himself giving the apostles the authority to forgive sins, which they passed on to their successors, the bishops and priests. The book of Hebrews has five WHOLE chapters dedicated to explaining that Christ founded a priesthood, and that this priesthood would be ruled by Christ as the eternal High Priest from Heaven. (These are Hebrews chapters 5, 7, 9, 10, and 12).
The New Testament also does show Peter's central role, especially in Acts, where his name is always mentioned first, and he's the apostle that the New Testament spends the most time talking about--his life, his struggle, his faith in Jesus, his failings and his victories--and we see Peter taking charge in the first councils in Acts.
This is called "show, don't tell." The Bible doesn't TELL you "Peter is the leader of the apostles after Jesus's assumption into Heaven," rather it shows us his central role.
I can also tackle all of Vicrtoria's BS in more detail if you'd like, but I think that's enough for one comment.
