How To Make Ceramic Christmas Balls // throwing christmas ornaments + two glazing combinations

  • Welcome to another video of my Christmas series! In this video I show you how to make Christmas balls. I explain how to throw and throw them. And I show you how to make a little hook on top of it. On the end of the video I show you two different glazing techniques and I explain how to put them in the kiln.
    Bisque fire: 1020°C / 1868°F / cone 06
    Glaze fire: 1220°C / 2228°F / cone 6

    I like the tip of using a heat gun to firm up before removing from the hump - next time I'm going to try it as it seems I always make a mess. 👍🏼

    Great video as usual! Thank you! Question - how heavy are they? any tips on making sure that it doesn't get too heavy and thick?

      Thank you!! I didn't weigh them, but my tree is strong enough😅 To make them light it is important to throw as thin as possible. And I would also recommend to trim as much clay as you can. If you struggle with throwing thin you could also trim both sides of the ball.

      Thank you! I have actually no idea😅 It's a kanthal wire with a diameter of 4mm
