Mine as well! I can’t believe this was our first video we watched from cooking with Dog. We were young, but now, watching this video again brings back nostalgia
It's been so many years since I've last seen this channel :( when I was in elementary school, I'd watch this every day with my mom. I cried when I found out Francis died too. Now I'm in high school and corona is happening. Time flies too fast, I'll remember to come back here to relive some nice memories. Thank you! You guys made my childhood magical, I've always loved to cook.
A year ago today my friend was sick in the hospital with cancer and she said she wanted me to bring Bento for her for the weekend. She died two days later... So to mark one year since she died i am going to make Bento and watch Batman because we both loved Batman shows...
Samuel Kajah Most of the time moms just use leftovers or pre-made stuff and pack it for their kids. I just remember all my mom ever did was just cook rice the day before, and then put in a bunch of vegetables and maybe japanese pickles from the packaging, with beef she just sautées in the day before.
As a kid (before) I never really feel full or satisfied with having a sandwich for lunch. The sandwich has to be really packed or more than one to imitate the satisfaction I feel with eating a proper meal - that is, rice, main dish (that has meat) and other side dish or soup. Sandwiches are more like snacks than meals for the most of my family.
I've watched this video countless times since it first came out in 2009. It's just mesmerizing, the way Chef effortlessly makes such a variety of dishes in one cute bento, Francis' charming narration, and the music matches the fun mood. Thank you, Chef! Miss you, Francis!
solution to A: Bruh, ever thought about adding stuff to instant soup (spices, veggies, proteins, ect.) :D? - solution to B: watch videos of dogs while trying to make it. or get a picture of one ahaha. (or get an actual dog maybe but that seems like too much) :) -
japan: lets make beautiful and creative fun food. america: too many ingredients. why would ppl do this? I lack creativity so I am just going to complain about other country's food.
+bleh ber No, it is undeniable that this amount of prep-work is staggering. However, I do think that a nice healthy meal like this is a very pleasing thing. If it were me, I would find a happy medium between without a million pots and pans.
I have an adorable bento box. I'd use it every day. However, one day I didn't wash my bento once I got home from school. The bento was tightly sealed, and as the bento is red, there is no way to see inside. The bento has been sitting on the counter for a few months, unwashed and filled with sauces and leftover food. I'm afraid to even open the thing for fear of contracting a deadly disease. Maybe I'll open it with a stick and power-hose it. I assume there is mold covering the inside of the bento and parasitic development as well. I am currently entertaining the thought of burning the thing.
Hahahah, I can soooo relate to this !!!! Sometimes I forget my bentos for a few days and then I'm too scared to open them, who know what enormous monster could've developed inside ! So I beg my boyfriend to open it and wash it :p hahahah
Haha xD I've got the same problem with my school lunch box.. Some mouths ago I forgot it and I am still afraid of what's inside :/ It's hidden in an old bag under my bed and it is just waiting for me O___O
I love how much time and effort Japanese moms take to make such cute and nutritional meals for their kids. As a Canadian, I just got a bologna sandwich, a juice box, an apple and a package of pudding.
This show has been my comfort show for so many years. I’ll be making this recipe for lunch on Monday, I’m 24 now. Rest in peace, Francis ❤ your memory still lives so strongly in many hearts
when youtube started up this channel defined an era of the best cooking videos on the internet. as for youtube history this channel among a very select few has the best uploads and not skimped on quality :) very good job XDXDXD
This video makes me cry because I have been watching this series with my sister since she was 3 months, and when I was 7.. Now she's 3 and I'm 11... Thx you for getting me through the hardest times of my life!!! Your cooking is amazing!!! Watching these videos just simply brings back memories!! Congrats on everything!!
Made the bento today for a picknick in the forest. Did take me an hour of preperation while multitasking. The kimichi base and furikake where difficult to find but I succeeded. I also boiled the potato and carrot in dashi stock
+Cheryl Teo Me: *watches video and is in the mood to make Bento and walks over to fridge* Fridge: GIRL YOU HAVE NOT GONE SHOPPING IN A WEEK DO YOU THINK YOU'LL HAVE ANY FOOD LEFT?! Me: Okay o-o

c4987 usually they make one for each person going off in the house... kids going to school, father going to work, and mother herself for either lunch or work lunch, some japanese mothers/wives stay home and take care of the house... so they have all the time in the world to do their job and just plain do the dishes... i always found Japanese people to be a lot more understanding of things like this... as if they would look at doing the dishes as a normal easy thing that is just a responsibility.
zToxic Anime Sorry for the really late reply, but i was born in Okinawa Japan, and Lived in Osaka for like 4 years... i never had any problems like that, most the time Japanese people just look at me like i'm a mythical creature that they've never seen before, and a lot of them (mostly in school) like to touch my hair and skin(weird but it's whatever)... you probably just met some rude people... also, no i do not live in Japan anymore.
I stumbled upon this channel 15 years ago, it's what really sparked my interests in Japanese culture, now I watch these videos and listen to chef since I am studying Japanese in college and am trying to learn new words and phrases. :)
In my part of the world this makes a pretty well balances lunch,so, I made a bento box for my brother yesterday (i packed him onigiris, Chicken, Carrot Tamagoyakis and steamed vegetables since he works from night to next morning), I got a cut trying to make the octopus sausages, but i got worth since everybody in his place asked him how did he made them,
+Lalocadelosgatos012 When I make octopus sausages I use a small pairing knife and hold the sausage in my hand, then using my fingers on both hands I slowly guide the blade through to make the shape, if im feeling particularly adventurous I do 8 legs, but 4 is just as good, thats only a cross cut so it saves a little time also.
^^ I might agree with Snowygirl4ever1 for finding the ingredients from the Asian supermarket, especially Japanese Supermarket places. But burning down the house? Ah... good luck on that one. :D
This was my first Cooking with Dog video and it had me falling with love with Chef and Francis. It's been 8 years and still going strong as a subscriber.
This is the first video I've seen and it's eleven years old. It feels like a parody, reminds me a bit of zefranks teddy operation. It just goes on and on. Was very informative.
Anybody else here just watching this and not doing a single thing? I mean, I don't even have 1/8 of the things these recipes call for but these videos are so damn entertaining.
Lol I feel that way about almost all CWD vids! She's so talented and the food looks great, but I'm lazy and don't have any of this stuff. Great channel!!
It is not only preparing the bento! You have to prepare all items and ingredients, clean vegetables, when you prepare the pumpkin you only need a slice and have to put apart the rest (it takes a minute, but you need that minute); same for the apple. Prepare sauces, spices for onigiri, pans, bowls, salt, water, ice.............. And when you finish you have to clean everything! I am not that sure you can to all this in only 20 minutes........
I'm especially interested in that fried pumpkin. Crunchy outside, but creamy pumpkin inside, with honey glaze? There's no part of that I wouldn't like!
As a new gaijin in Japan I'm still seriously thinking is this a joke or what... It just takes too much time to prepare and the size is just not enough for me!
Firstly can't wait to make this for myself and future children. Secondly looking at the comment I see everyone freaking out over racist jokes. Seriously guys there just jokes an you need to let them roll off your shoulders. We're here to learn about cooking not argue over someone's preference of humor.
Blind Babbler too bad if someone would take food like that from home that kid would be bullied in my country because no one makes something like bentos they all buy from cafeteria
Pandy chin i would definitely bring a bento box like this to school with me. If someone tries to mess with me, i would a them like their stupid and say: "well at least i'm eating nicer and better quality food then that joke of a meal there." then i'd ignore them. Besides i know some kids do think bento boxes are awesome (i'm in america)
Toxidie and then you'll get bullied till you change school. you see if you bring home food that means youre poor trash etc etc :D ogic right?? i would love to bring to school :D but i'm too old for going to school. but och well it's just spoiled little kids :D closed minded
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your generous support! 😍 Glad you enjoyed our bento video! 🐩🍱👩🍳💕
I remember watching these videos as a child. Now I’m 24 and watching them again ❤
Thank you so much for your continuous support🥰🍱 Have sparkling New Year❣️🎉

This is love, japanese moms make this every morning for their kids. Too much effort put in a lunch.
it is love. but, different cultures moms show love differently lol.
Actually they make most of it the night before and just assemble it in the morning
My mom made breakfast at 4am for me :)
Perhaps Western moms are too lazy?
@@megshimatsu8615 as a western mom (Canadian) I can confirm 😂

I am so sorry for your loss :'o
That is so sweet :') your friend would be proud.
Please tell me she got to eat the bento.
Awwww
I am so sorry for your loss. You are a very sweet friend.
That's heartbreaking. Sorry.
This was the first video I seen on this channel in 2010 and I'm still coming back to it in 2020 ❤️❤️❤️
Wow. Japanese moms must adore their kids. That's too much work for one lunch. Looks good tho.
+Samuel Kajah yup, that's a heck of a lot more effort that a Lunchables, PB&J or school lunch.
hitachicordoba Lolz. I have never understood how PB&J is even considered a lunch. In my eyes that's just a snack.
Not really. Overtime you get faster in the kitchen. The more experienced the easier it would be to make in ease
As a kid (before) I never really feel full or satisfied with having a sandwich for lunch. my right now tbh :/
I'd love to make one of these, but
A: I can barely make a half-decent instant soup and
B: I don't have a dog to stare me while i make it.
ill solve your dog problem. record it or stream you making bento and i will stare you down like a dog! because i find it fun to watch lol :-P
solution to A: Bruh, ever thought about adding stuff to instant soup (spices, veggies, proteins, ect.) :D? -
solution to B: watch videos of dogs while trying to make it. or get a picture of one ahaha. (or get an actual dog maybe but that seems like too much)
:) -
and me, A: I don't have these ingredients and B: I'm too lazy to do something T-T
I like this video very much ua-cam.com/video/QRYYEHYa5Ac/v-deo.html
Ozzie Seeker lol thats cute
It's amazing how they can fit all of that into a tiny bento box.
I watched this when I was 13 and I come back to watch this often. I love this video. RIP Frances ❤
It's wonderful that this video holds a special place in your heart. Francis must be very happy in heaven! 🐩🥰💕
Watched these videos as a child for fun. Now I'm watching them again and going to make this for work tomorrow! Much love from Canada :)
So glad to hear you enjoyed the video whine you were a child! Thank you for making the bento.🍱😋 Hope you enjoyed it.❤️
Japan: Let's make a healthy, balanced lunch that students and adults can eat!
America + UK: Lmao let's serve chips every day for the kids ;)
Yeah true in my school they don't even care what you eat. We have a store full of junk food and most kids buy chips candy and Gatorade
japan: lets make beautiful and creative fun food.
america: too many ingredients. why would ppl do this? I lack creativity so I am just going to complain about other country's food.

Yeah I would also love to make bento for both me and my future children as well! :)
I made this so sempai would notice me...
i hope he notices me too hahahha
