Gundam Astray Red Frame, one of my favorite model kit cause of the looks and the details. It took me around 1 week for completion because to be honest, I was waiting for my equipment to arrive.
I didn't have any airbrush at the time of this build so I had to stick with spray cans and spraying in my toilet without ventilation. Just don't do it like me, because I coughed up red mucus after spraying!
More than 200GB worth of footage because I this is my first time making a video about building gunpla. So I guess I had to capture everything hahaha!

Do you guys know if he applied another gloss topcoat after applying panel lining and waterslide decals?
@@chumpapii it is better to have another top coat after panel lining and decals. It gives better protection for the panel line enamel and the decals.
@@akmarulhisham2281 so the process is paint -> gloss coat -> panel lines and decals -> gloss/matte coat?
@@chumpapii yeap that is the recommended procedure. The gloss coat after paint would help make the decals look embedded better onto the surface
Nice, I really loved it. The Gindam Astray Frames are my favorite Gundams in the Cosmic Era. You, made the colors better, added details and just kept it simple. It is so glorious seeing the Gunpla look like the real deal. Thanks!
This is actually my first customised built! At that time I didn't have much so just made do with whatever I had that time 😂
@@StudioGundam I had a question. If I buy this, do I absolutely NEED to buy the paints and building tools or would I be able to build the entire thing, from the gundam to the katana, without using a tool?
@@erenav7989 I just built this kit and as for tools, I would sughest a nipper for a clean cut from the runner. Sanding is optional. The kit still looks great without panel lining imo. I personally painted the gold parts with gundam marker (gold) for a better look and the included decals looks great as is. I would still recommend panel lining it as it brings out the massive amount of details packed in to it.

why do you apply the sticker after the lining and topcoat spray, thought doing in the reverse order would turn out better.
If you have mr mark softer it's fine whatever the order is. I do that because I don't want the decals to be in the way when I do panel linings. It's much easier to apply decals last as you can soften the water decals and slice through the panel lines again to get more realistic results. 😊 however I'm not sure about the default stickers that came with the kit. I've never used them 😂😂
Waterslide decals need a smooth surface to adhere to and flatten out properly, topcoating with gloss ensures that it's smooth enough for them. That's one reason, anyway.

What do you use to wash the panel linings after done drying & why do you suggest to use enamel paint? Any specific reason pls, your reply will be very useful.
if you are use enamel based paint for the panel linings you should use enamel thinner to wash it off
make sure you top coat first because enamel will corrode plastic and it might break the piece you're working on to pieces

For the spray painting: do you prime it? or just spray the paint right on it for multiple coats? Also what paint do you use

It's probably because he's using waterslide decals where you need to dip it in water inorder to apply it

I got a question about using top coats and panel lining. Do you use top coats after the stickers and decals or before? That also includes the panel lining.

How do you paint it such that the paints wont't get chipped off on the joint areas when you bend them
Model paints are made to be durable, and usually you'd put on a top coat too to seal it in and really make sure it won't chip

Can you give us a specified colour list/numbers for the tamiya paints you used?
Did you use black and white color as the base colour or did you directly spray on the red colour? Really nice and lively colour and im just starting doing airbrush and trying to learn about it
I prime the pieces to grey first before adding the red :)
