These are the sad fragments this upright piano let me hear, inspired by Black Sabbath’s 'Solitude'. I played this improvisation while in a bit of a rough mental space. Thanks for the challenge to @sunkenindeaf!

@@ruhjee13717 thank you very much! The sound of this upright piano is truly beautiful. It's easy to be alone in its company.

Glory to the improviser. The memories come in waves. Thank you.
(For some reason, UA-cam has automatically deleted what I've typed here. After 3 unsuccessful attempts, kept the message short this time. I'll see if I can _edit in_ the rest.)
As regards “rough mental space”… The scene in the film where Harri (the late Matti Pellonpää) waits for Zombie (Silu Seppälä) to turn up at the tavern in Istanbul, there’s a Turkish song performed by frequenters -probably suggested by the filmmaker’s local collaborators. The chorus goes like this: _”(Diyorum, sebep ne bu ızdıraba?) Diyorlar, kül olmaz ateş yanmadan. Denizler durulmaz dalgalanmadan.”_ --- _”(Why all this agony, I ask.) There is no ash, they say, without a fire burning. The seas will not settle down, before they become rough.”_
For those who have not heard, the humble masterpiece in question is titled “Zombie ja Kummitusjuna”. Directed by Mika Kaurismäki, released in 1991.
    All safe, all well.

Thank you so much for your comment and also for your inspiration! I had fun diving deep into the depths of solitude. Thank you also for educating me with the wisdom of your own culture.
I love Matti Pellonpää's acting. He lived homeless for long periods of time and had directed his letter mail to restaurant Kosmos in Helsinki. One of the best films (IMO) in which he plays along is Shadows in Paradise. Another incredible film is Calamari Union, a surreal shoot, the only one made by Aki Kaurismäki while completely drunk.
      All safe, all well.

@@boringpianoimprovisation I dare say that films of Aki Kaurismäki have been transcribed into my genes by now. Films so pure, truly unique in every aspect --clockwork rhythm, precise layout, dark humour, subtle kindness, saturated colours. To me, his "lousy films" (his own words) are on par with works of his spiritual masters, Yasujiro Ozu and Robert Bresson.
The late Pellonpää surely holds a special place, as do all members of the _family_ --Outinen, Kuosmanen, Nikkari, Peltola, Hyytiäinen, Väänänen...
How about the delightful music, carefully selected for each film --folk songs, tango, rock and roll.
      I just get carried away.

Some days one needs to find refuge for his soul, relinquish unwanted feelings suppressed for way too long. To be unencumbered just for a moment's piece.
From amongst all instruments, piano is by far the most indulgent in these emotions. It savors solitude and makes it that much more pleasing.

@dedikandrej exactly. Thank you for the poetry, admittedly well put into words. When I was young, I took escapism so far that I didn't go for coffee every now and then, but ate caffeine pills so I could play the upright piano without interruption. It was sick :D Nowadays I do the opposite: I only go for coffee, I don't do much else.

@john-nk3ej what you wrote means a lot to me. Gray skies pass over, the bus takes you there and back. A new morning, just like any other. There is sadness somewhere. I read about it on UA-cam. I had sat down with an upright piano that comforted you. Thanks for sharing your sadness. Hopefully you feel better now.

@@boringpianoimprovisation I am thank you. I pulled my phone out and just recorded one inspired by your melody. I hope you enjoy it and don't feel copied. I posted it on youtube

I tend to copy the whole world when I play, it's just a pleasure that you found something in my video clip to start from. I listened to your Sad Wallpaper. It´s gorgeous! I commented it on your video too.Thank you for taking this Cm idea many steps further! I love the circus music Gbmaj7-Ab, which starts at the end of the first minute, continuing from there towards hope and light. I was impressed with the way you found the E-Eb theme in 2:48. The original sorrowful Cm theme returns wonderfully at 4:03 only for a moment, bursting into brightness. Great improvisation!
