You could actually earn thousands of dollars in one night just by playing this on a cruise ship
Yes I'm sure a cruise company big enough to pay thousands of dollars to a pianist will not do background checks and just hire anyone
@@laurasanchez7105 ever heard of tipping?
@@bennemann Ok, even if that money was made in tips (which I doubt), a cruise company will not just pick anyone to entertain their customers
@@laurasanchez7105 And who's to say a professional pianist can't use the same technique too to relax when their hands are cramped or when they feel uninspired? smh
@@bennemann My point is that you can not actually "earn thousands of dollars in one night just by playing this on a cruise ship". Go to bed
Please make a part two to this video, this is one of the best videos I have ever seen on piano
^^^^^ Yes!
Please
you can also make random filler in the higher octave for no reason and it will sound really good
Yup people who don't understand the piano will never notice that it's the same note but in a higher scale
now overdub a deep male voiceover: "good people pushing hard every day . . . to make a difference . . . as they give . . . and work . . . to make a difference . . . every day"

Noah Hornberger I am literally laughing my butt off at your comment because this is so true
😂😂😂😂😂
wow
I literally fell off my chair goddamn it HAAH
This is an underrated piano channel. As a beginner, these videos keep me interested and learning and excited. Love this channel and these videos
This is so great to hear. Thank you for your kind words!
Pianote 🙏🙏💯
FACTS! She needs more subs!!
Counldnt agree more. As a music producer this is a refreshing way to keep up with music theory in a fun way while learning new tricks for production! Awesome work as always!
i know!! ive learned so much here
If I may suggest a correction, from around 4:00 onwards, you kept saying chord V as G, and chord IV as A.
In the key of D, it's the other way round- A is V and G is IV.
Let me know if I misunderstood your instructions. Thanks for the lesson, though!
Your 100% right. Hahaha. I was thinking the exact same thing. In the key of D Major the V chord is A and the IV chord is G. A simple mistake. I looking through the comments and I'm like am I the only one who caught this. Hahaha. #YupYup
You got it right! I got into a bit of a zen space and reverted back to the key of C in my mind :(
I was confused about why you were saying IV into I, I didn't listen closely to the letters you were naming though
I thought I was the only one who noticed it😂😂
@@PianoteOfficial That's okhai Ma'am, Some of us are here to Learn from you. Thank you very much Ma'am for this wonderful Idea. Love Peace. 😇
That was so helpful... but also hilarious! now I can waste time but also do elevator music... and vaporwave! I have the power of piano and anime on my side now!
Noice
I think she means how to "kill" time at the piano
Jason Roos yeah i think so
She be going to jail by that
Honestly, this is a time killer. I've been late to so many things by doing this at the piano lol
I think fill time would be the best way to say it.
I do the same all the time, I know what she's talking about ,kill time waste time it's all the same
Basically play inspirational music that reaches no climax
Or recapitulation!?
and thats how contemporary Christian its made

Facts
As someone who plays a lot of CCM (I play for a small church choir and generally handle the more modern stuff), I can tell you that this is basically how they do accompaniments, with a few things they tend to add such as melodic riffs on top. However, when I go out and listen to contemporary pop music from more mainstream sources, I hear basically the same stuff. Accompaniment is basically background music for the vocalist, and it's played like background music.
Philip McNiel facts
Philip McNiel I was just about comment this. I play soooo much of this stuff at church it's not even funny. Love the intention of the music yet its so generic. Luckily, my church is very relaxed and loves it when we add little solos and fills between verses or bridges so I can spice it up a little bit
"How to turn any venue into an inspirational story"
Or you could just play the Fur Elise intro for hours.
And yet they still think it’s beautiful.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I can do that
Just the first two notes

It actually sound like the start of a beautiful composition. Thanks for the tip.
Robert Yu See also Olafur Arnalds, Niks Frahm for some real stuff :)
Sounds a bit like Where'd You Go by Fort Minor
Sometimes when I start my piano practice routine, I'll lose my motivation within 30 minutes. But once I start watching your videos, I find myself practicing for the next hour. The way you teach makes the piano so enjoyable!!!
Thank you so much for all you do ❤️
I love the piano so much, there's no other instrument where all of music theory and musical elements is at your disposal at one time more than with the piano.
Nice, thank you. This looks like it will get me out of my head, to play with my heart.
when you accidentally write 50% of Enaudi's works.
Hahaha true mate
Right
ICHT . Damn
Awesome! I love the catch title "how to waste time" but this is a great theory lesson in improv. I've not done as much with the sus chord, but I've been trying to get my students to "play around" with the 1-4-5 like this to work on playing by ear. Maybe if I call it "wasting time" they'd be more interested in trying it! LOL! Thanks so much for this!
I'm not good at guitar (started picking it up less than two years ago), but I do stuff like this when I'm just chilling on the couch late at night, and my wife has fallen asleep next to me. I call it dinking around or noodling. I can't actually play anything, but when she hears it she usually says, hey that actually sounds like music. 😁 👍
The background theme at the beginning and at the end is beautiful.
Absolutely fantastic! Your playing is inspirational and your presentation makes me smile. Thank you so much for what you're doing on this channel.
perfect for weddings! I wish I knew it before.
Alter call at church will now be SOOOOOO much easier. Thank you so much!!!! 👌👌
Not gonna lie but the minor 6th switch up moved me.
It just works beautifully ❤
I immediately threw my laptop to the corner and sit at the piano to try it by myself! Spent maybe 20 minutes going D -> G -> B in all possible octaves :D I wish I have a piano with 15 octaves :D
Like the content and the way you present.
Please more of this, absolutely great for beginners, so much instant fun. Thank you so much!! 🤗
Many years ago, I was messing around at the piano in the student lounge at college and someone came up to me and told me there was gonna be a memorial service for a student who had passed away and asked if I'd like to play some music for it. Now, I didn't know the student and definitely didn't think about what I would play songwise. She said just some light background stuff is all they were looking for beforehand and after.
I agreed. I used these exact techniques and everyone came up to me afterward and told me it was perfect and very beautiful. They were so grateful. I was told that the girl who had passed played much in the same way.
The girl who asked me to play even paid me for the time. I reluctantly accepted after refusing repeatedly!!
That is such a wonderful story! Thank you for sharing, it is so cool how music can bring people together.
Playing just ANYTHING that sounds good also works...

I play for a progressive rock band and this is the greatest time waster I've ever practiced, my organ's echo captures this technique perfectly in the background by giving the music atmosphere behind the guitar.
I love you !!
I could just sit and listen to you play all day.
Ling Ling has no time to waste, she's too busy practising.
Ling Ling obviously hasn't practiced how to write in English

Thank you again for being a wonderful teacher....
Lovely lesson. You have made it so simple. This is brilliant.
thankyou soo much for this video! I’ve been searching for something to teach me how to play a simple background/Christian contemporary for church and worship, I love it so much! I’m loving practicing this!
Time spent making nice sounds is not really wasted but what I like about this lesson is the opportunity to let yourself explore a simple structure to its fullest extent. It helps you with using inversions and fills. It is a deceptively simple lesson, thank you.
My mind has just been blown! That sounds super gorgeous! And it's sooo simple. Thank you!!! :D
This actually teaches a very good lesson and is an example of what notes sound good together and can be very helpful when you want to write songs so thank you
I will try this in Church during Communion or before the service. On holiday tomorrow so will have to be over the next month thank you.
You make things seem to be easy and very encouraging. Thank you
This sounds so lovely! And I can imagine this to be a good way to just “switch-off” at the piano. There’s not much thinking to be done here. Basically go with the flow. I need to remember this lesson for when I need some chill time. 👍🏻👏🏻🎶
Thank you so much for all these lessons!🎹💐💐💐💐
YESSS! It really is perfect for unwinding :)
This is SO useful. I play piano at my youth group and sometimes I don't know what to do and the only thing I can think of is playing the same 4 chords over and over again while adding maybe 3 or 4 notes with my right. But this video was very helpful to me. Again, thank you!
I just bought practice piano 2 days ago and started watching some tutorials and ended in your channel.
I love the way how you talk, and your voice in all videos more than playing piano 😂.
Thank you for all efforts.
