  • In this video, we will show you that you don't need to break your pool down into a hundred pieces at the end of every pool season. You don't have to empty and refill all that water each season either.
Here is a super simple above ground pool opening process and some pool opening tips.
With a few important items that you will purchase before the pool season ends, it is super easy to keep your pool covered all year long and open it back up with clear blue water that only needs some light vacuuming and balancing of the pool water.
All the items we had used during the winter are pictured here in the video.
They were all purchased on Amazon (See the links below). Stay tuned for our next video on more details regarding winterization preparations.

That video was our 2nd season when we were opening up last year. we have a new video now so last Winter we used the In the swim - winterizing kit. We did a video last Sept on closing a saltwater pool. Also you'll have to take a look at our latest video to see the results of that in the swim kit. Our pool was closed Sept 2021 to May 2021 but we think from now on we plan to use the In the swim - winterizing kit instead of the Winter pill

I just found this video we made but never published from April of this year. We hope some of this will be helpful to some pool owners. Stay tuned for our official Pool Winterization video coming up in late September where we will show you step by step how we close our baby down.

Mover and Shaker hello again from Chicago getting depressed knowing we have to close our 16×48 intex ultra xtr steel frame pool here soon dont know where the summer went been using ours since memorial day weekend. We bought our winter cover last weekend it has the steel cable system and grommets throughout. IS THIS HOW YOURS IS? I purchased a large truck inner tube to inflate and tie off to all 4 corners to keep centered i see your pillow looks like its tied off same way DID THIS WORK GOOD FOR YOU? we've been saving our empty gallon jugs from the liquid chlorine to fill and tie to cover for weight ANY THOUGHTS OR OPINIONS? also how low did you drain water. WAS IT JUST BELOW OUTPUTS? DID YOU ADD ANY OTHER CHEMICALS OTHER THAN THE "PUNCTURE PILL" ? a rep at our local pool store told us we could pour in a few gallons of liquid chlorine and a gallon of algaecide and leave 2-3 3" tablets in pool ANY THOUGHTS ? I really like your channel and value your comments and suggestions. Do you have a WINTER CLOSE UP VIDEO TO SHARE THANKS AGAIN!!

@@iamkazie9401 Yes, our pool water is now getting cold and it's time for us to close it also. We do use a winter cover that has the steel cable system and grommets as shown here amzn.to/3m1adeE
In addition we wrap the pool in a saran wrap like material 2 rotations to keep all air from entering which is shown here: amzn.to/2FiczVB
Yes, our winter pillow which is the Yankee brand was also tied off to four corners you can see that photo here on the product page: amzn.to/2QYMvlc
Although we decided this year we will only inflate it half it's capacity to cut back on the amount of time we have to spend pumping out rain water throughout the fall and winter season.
The pillow worked great. you still have to use a water pump throughout the winter to get water out from time to time. The pump we upgraded to this season is here: amzn.to/3bzU4YR
As far as placing old jugs for weight we would never do that based on something we saw on video a long time ago. The Saran wrap material works fantastic to keep the air out and we will continue to do that.
Last year we only used the pill and even though it worked great this year we decided to try something different because we like trying new products. The product we ordered is here amzn.to/2Zf7eG1
We have not closed our pool yet. This year is challenging for us because we want to cover our pool but our deck is butted up so close to our deck that we are going to have to place the cover over the top vs. through the deck and the pool and in between all of that we are getting ready to stain 2 coats on the deck so it will all happen in the next two weeks depending on the rainfall to come in our area. You will probably close yours before ours. Good Luck!

Was this before u went saltsystem?
That looks neat. That pill works with salt or clorine?
I'm still deciding if I go salt or clorox, I just don't want my frame rusted in 2 years.

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому +1

That was before we switched to salt. We just published it really late. We have another "opening the salt water pool video here: ua-cam.com/video/AUUhnSjhvps/v-deo.html
We switched from using the pill to using a kit
In The Swim Pool Winterizing and Closing
      Kit - Up to 7,500 Gallons amzn.to/3acAYZQ
This kit did exactly what it was supposed to. It gave us crystal clear, completely clean and balanced water.
We have had our salt water system in operation almost four full months this season and most of last season and we would NEVER Go back! Everythime we get out of our pool, we rinse it off thoroughly inside the rim around the poles the outside, the deck, wherever water can splash. We realize the risks and we make sure we take care of everything like it's a brand new baby.
We have not one single speck of rust on our pool. In addition, since we uncovered our pool in April we have not added one single thing to our pool period. It remained balanced over the winter and still remains balanced. We have saved money, headaches, research time, worrying...no more worrying!!!!! We love our salt water pool like crazy.

@@pedroaldorodriguez1161 Sure. You just treat it with the upmost care after every use and you should be perfectly fine! Don't go back in the house until you rinse. You will save money and have less worries and it's healthier and feels better on your skin. All you need to keep on hand is a vacuum, and test strips ! and a hose! LOL

Hi, how did you winterize your pool. Did you take water out? We are from Chicago IL, so we might need to empty the pool a little more then you?

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому +1

Hi there! We haven't winterized our pool this season yet but last season, we left our water in the pool. Here are the steps
You drain the water just past all three inlets and outlets and plug everything up with your strainer hole plugs
-then you put your winterizing chemicals in it We are using this kit: amzn.to/2Zf7eG1
-then you tie your winter pillow up to all four corners so that the pillow is centered. We are using this for our second year and we plan to deflate it a little so that it is less rain water in the dips amzn.to/2QYMvlc
-then you cover your pool snug with your pool cover This is ours: amzn.to/3m1adeE
-then I recommend you wrap in pool saran wrap x 2. amzn.to/2FiczVB
-Then throughout the winter rains and or snows you occasionally pump out your water with a submersible pump. We purchased this one amzn.to/3bzU4YR
      -That is it.
In the spring you do it in reverse and add water and get your pool balanced and your back in! We did not have to do much for ours at all.
