    I love how they had to let Dr McDougall go because he would have told them they were WRONG! They are so full of the advertisers money. The Doctors try to make vegans look like crazy outliers. They were a bit kinder than normal but I don't see much difference in their take away.
    Good for you for presenting yourself in such a straight forward and well spoken way.

      +Fruity Adelle She thinks without "protein" (meat), she'd "be obese". She thinks the potato diet would make her look like a potato. Would she really stand by that claim? She must always be thinking, "carbs make you fat".

    I participated in the year-long diet study for MS patients sponsored by Oregon Health Sciences University and Dr. McDougall. I ate a vegan diet for a year and I am still a vegan. I have not and will not take any disease-modifying medications for multiple sclerosis. I will be 60 this year and I can still chase after my 3 grandsons and labradoodle. I thank Dr. McDougall and his team in California for saving my life.

      +Laurel Ann Bower I wish I'd had that result Laurel I was so excited when Dr. McDougall said he was going to be working with curing m.s.
      I'm vegan as well but unfortunately m.s. is a rabid dog in my case. So I'm on the big one Tysabri infusions. It's scary but the disease was debilitating me hard core.
      I hope you continue to have amazing results and feel great! :)

      +Lady at Large I believe I can manage my MS through a vegan diet; I have not "cured" my MS. I had a major relapse after my husband passed away last year. After being misdiagnosed for over 40 years, I have learned to trust my gut as to how I want to live with this disease. I respect each individual's choice as to how he or she wants to deal with medical issues. I do believe though, everyone should get the junk food out their lives; after the 10 days I spent at Dr. McDougall's clinic, I felt better than I had in decades.

  • @TodorTreyKoev

    The "doctors' " facial expressions when Dr McDougall said "but they do...that's incorrect..." was the most blatant confirmation that each and every one of these professionals has been paid to endorse meat.

    • @ninehigh99
      @ninehigh99 8 років тому +6

      +Todor “Trey” Koev Even if they're not actually paid advocates, they probably truly believe you have to eat "protein" (meat). Are they insane? We're getting too much "protein" and fat, and not enough vegetables and fruit. Of course, they think we're just getting to much "carbs". This crap will never end :(

    Well done you. I found it interesting that the Dr on the show said about eating food from the earth. Not his usual line! I also can't help thinking that they may have taken a different line if Dr Mcdougal hadn't been on. Good work though 👍🏻

    • @corty1980
      @corty1980 8 років тому +3

      +busybeeme100 Yeah considering he said in one episode that it's ok to eat bacon each day. It went good considering the attitude they have had with other guests that have been on the show.

  • @gerdapr
    @gerdapr 8 років тому +4

    I agree - the looks on their faces were truly amusing! I thought you were presented in the most positive light that they were likely allowed to do without losing advertising dollars. So like you I was happier than I expected to be with the Potato Diet Interview! ! I am shocked he said eat natural and everything grown in the earth. He might have forgot himself for a moment there! :) I was also disappointed on your behalf that you weren't allowed to speak on the purpose of mono diet as a therapy for food addiction! As usual focus is a lil heavy on weight loss but that is what sells. And I went like oh no she did not just say that she would look like a potato if she ate potatoes! Really?? But regardless all in all I'm thrilled that the concept of an all potato diet was given air time on a mainstream American television show! May many more become enlightened after today's airtime with Spud Fit and Dr. McDougall. I sure hope they do a follow up with you as well! Continued success! I'll be following! :) Between you and High Carb Hannah's Potato Cleanse I'd say the sale of potatoes has sky rocketed! Way to go!!

    Starch it up with Spuds! bloody awesome mate! Yea good point, although a starch based diet with fruits and vegetables is really a good boundary for people to stick to, an all potato diet is great because it reminds us what food really is for and that's to sustain us..we tend to get too caught up in the enjoyment that we sacrifice our health and also forget that we eat for sustenance, and it's a bonus that it tastes good (thanks to us having taste buds). The all potato diet is a great exercise and reminder of why we eat in the first place, I feel! Woohoo!

    Eat everything in the world from the Dr who probably never had an issue with weight. He did just advocate vegan though. "Eat everything from the earth"!! You have lost a tonne of weight and the woman just said she would look like a spud if she ate them all day. At least they didn't try and defunk it. Good for you for spreading the message.

    Sure there is no reason to limit your diet just to one product, which in Andrew's case is potatoes ... unless for therapeutical reasons as Andrew is using this diet for. As a food addict myself and as a psychologist I have to say that Mr. Spud Fit is going just the right way. As he said in one of his videos moderation just doesn't work. This sadly didn't get on the agenda.

    They asked you to be on the show because they found you on the internet right? If that's true, they should know that you are doing this temporarily so it bothered me that they made it sound like this is your chosen path for the rest of your life. Other than that, I think they were much more open minded than they were with Happy Healthy Vegan!! So smart of you to request back up from Dr. McDougall, I think that helped them to not be so condescending as well. Good job Andrew and continued success to you!!

    Yeah, shame there wasn't time to share more information, from both yourself and McDougall. I liked that they weren't really negative about it, but the whole segment seemed kinda meh to me. Not enough info to be positive or negative really. But hopefully might be enough to get some people googling yourself and McD and find out some more info that way :) Regardless, well done :)

    • @SpudFit

      +Elle Ⓥ I think 'meh' in a plant-based context is about right, but in international mega commercial mainstream talkshow TV 'eat-meat-and-dairy-or-you-will-DIE' land it's more 'Holy shit what did he just say about eating what grows from the earth?!' 'Eureka!' BINGO!' and many other game changing superlatives is more accurate :)

    It's great that you got the notoriety - and were able to share your story. It's too bad that they fell back on the same old tropes.."Just do what you do!" and "There's a different - special, crazy diet that anyone can try and that's fine for them!" and "Everything in moderation!"...etc. Different diets and different foods cause different effects on the human body ( there's a "best diet" for humans...just like there's a best diet for lions or bears or gorillas ). You can't claim that you're sure that "YOUR BODY" functions best when you drink a pint of olive oil every day. Nutrition doesn't work that way.
