Tom being positive about Ireland, love to see it, haha. It's a fascinating song, love how it alternates between chaos and calmness. A daring choice but I'm really happy that an artist like Bambie has already gotten so much support.

@@ESCTom Having experienced the Käärijä fever (or insanity?) here in Finland last year, it's the level of sudden ESC enthusiasm and pride I truly wish for every country. Best of luck Ireland!
@@lumihortensia That’s a lovely sentiment. Käärijä was my favorite song last year. I’m Irish and feeling so much pride this year and it’s an unusual feeling. I hope it starts an Irish Renaissance.
I was NOT expecting this from Ireland! Such a juxtaposition. And I couldn’t be happier. Will it be polarizing? Absolutely. And that’s exactly what’s needed! Can’t say I’ll listen to this often, but it may be the song I’m most looking forward to watching, witnessing, experiencing. Didn’t have Ireland on my “breaking a Eurovision mould” card this year but I’m here for it. Bambie Thug representing those in shadow. Awesome!
Ireland is taking risks now... I actually watched Eurosong for the first time, fully convinced I was about to witness the entire ESC fandom collapse when something safe won. Glad I was proven wrong!! Exciting times that a qualification is possible. My biggest hope is that Bambie Thug has inspired other indie artists or artists who don't do pop to realize they can succeed and represent Ireland. That this is the beginning of a turning point.
This is the first time I've watched Eurosong too, and I'm so glad I did! Had it not been for the national jury tanking Next In Line with 2 points, I think they would have won. Every day I thank god for the Irish national jury, and I'm not even religious.
while it wasnt a great entry, people have forgotten about Jendrik from Germany, and his massive LITERAL middle finger (costume) number, but it had a very deep and important message.
It's taken a few listens and this song is growing on me, their artistry elevates the performance and I can't wait to see how they stage this. I think this will definitely qualify because they are so authentic with the messaging. I was disappointed that the international jury chose Next in Line *yawn* so I am very happy Bambi will represent Ireland, the strongest performance at Eurosong 👏🏾💖🌈🎙️
The graphics on the screen were designed by Bambie's own team as was the lighting, which gives me real confidence we're going to see something special in Malmo. As you say, it's very likely Michael Kealy will give them full artistic freedom to do whatever they like in ESC.
Tom, thank you for sharing my first Bambie campaigns, it almost made me fall out of my bed to see myself here - but I'll go on campaigning fiercely and passionately because this representation is a deeply heartfelt matter!🖤✨️🌙⛧ I'm beyond happy for Ireland AND for the alternative community because I think "Doomsday Blue" can really do something at Eurovision and surprise loads of people with a top placement! In my view it's not even a question if Bambie will qualify!🖤✨️ Some people will say that we've already seen alternative acts at Eurovision in the last years - but the thing is that I see a huge difference here. While all alternative acts were insanely great, they were mostly metal- or rock-acts that stood out but can never stand out as much as this does. Bambie is not limited to rock and metal, they are EVERYTHING at the same time! Hence I think that the theatrical, dramatic performance is something people have never seen before, and this will create a shock effect that could generate massive voting numbers. Thank you for your detailed and deep analysis, I really enjoyed it as always - you're a legend!🖤✨️ As a part of the Gothic scene I have to love Bambie and to celebrate ecstatically, because they are giving us alternative people a voice and are speaking out for those who are different - not only in their musical tastes, but also in their worldviews and lifestyles. "Doomsday Blue" as a composition already delivers everything a lover of dark, enigmatic and slightly progressive music could ever dream of: The fusion of mesmerizing genres that originally shouldn't fit together but create a perfect mélange in these three minutes of the most beautiful fever dream, screams that are piercing marrow and bone, clean vocals that will haunt me at day and night even decades after Eurovision 2024, pulsating electronica that almost sound like they're emerging from a demonic realm, and a grand finale smashing the earth with heaviness and high energy!🖤⛧✨️🌙 # sendthewitch was successful , and I'm being honest when I say that I was bursting into tears when the results came in! Eurovision definitely needs diversity and outstanding acts, not only mainstream pop, and here we have some of the most special and profound art, evoked by an insanely creative, impressively passionate and instantly touching human being. Bambie was touching my soul through the screen, even in all the interviews - but the performance exceeded my expectations even on this small national final stage. Just imagine how this will look like on the big stage!🔥 I couldn't be happier: Not only to be represented and to have a voice I can wholeheartedly identify with at Eurovision, but also because Bambie deserves it. Everyone saw how well-deserved this victory was: On stage and off stage. The crowd was on fire for "Doomsday Blue"! And if I say that this is one of my happiest days in life, I don't exaggerate. This is not just another Eurovision act for me, this is an act that is expressing who I am. Bambie, CAST THE SPELL OVER MALMÖ!🖤✨️🌙⛧
haha i love it, and i love how this is someone who is finally representing you. I met bambie after, and they were really lovely. im a big fan and i think they are going to do an amazing show. ill be happy even if it doesnt qualify, but honestly i think that they will only elevate the performance further, so i think itll do great
@@ESCTom Lord of the Lost also represented me and have a similar message of inclusion and embracing the different, and I still think they didn't deserve this shocking placement in the grand final. But speaking about Bambie: I can feel that they are already full of ideas and creativity when it comes to elevating the staging concept, and I'm sure the final performance in May will be breathtaking. What we saw at the Late Late Show was not even a spark of what is going to happen in Malmö! I also know many other people who are absolutely on fire supporting Bambie, and this is a huge step forward for Ireland! And I'm happy that MY act is coming from your country, so I'm rooting for the same act as my favourite Eurovision reactor!🖤✨️ Much love to you!!
I’m so happy Ireland chose this, it’s not often we see something this niche in Eurovision. Can’t wait to see the improved outfits and staging, it has so much potential. Bambie’s vocals and stage presence are already great, too.
So surprised and pleased that the two riskiest entries did so well and finished top 2. I am really confident now that we will welcome Ireland back to the finale!
I love this and I think Ireland could finally qualify. As you said it’s better for some people to absolutely love and some to absolutely hate rather than mid-table for everyone.
Ireland taking a risk, the in studio panel saying they should, the host being decent and the Eurosong crowd being full of Eurofans who were chanting for the right artist's name. Combine that with an actual entry that stands out, has a great NF performance, is theatrical and has good staging, is this really the same country that I have half heritage to? What a glow up! I've seen other reviews that hate the song but that's only a good thing because you want to aim to polarise people here with that marmite effect as in Eurovision you can only upvote a song.so people who love it will passionately campaign for it! It's currently my number one next to Luxembourg, so Ireland definitely did something right!
Yeah, I’ve been surprised to see how many people are hating on this, but that’s the effect of polarisation. At least people are actually talking about us this year.
Very promising song and artist, can definitely see us qualifying obviously it’s early doors but it’s great !! Me and my brother loved the back up dancers too haahah
It wasn't my first choice (I loved Go Tobann) but Doomsday Blue is very interesting. I think it's a song that will grow on me over the season. My first listen to it had me going "what on earth is happening" and then once the shock wears off I start to appreciate it. Also, the backup dancers reminded me of the heartless from kingdom hearts.
It wasn't a bad performance but it didnt live up to the full hype. It's because if you looked at the production level of her song, it was actually the best as it had FOUR vocals of hers put upon each other, something really hard to emulate live so instead she was just shouting like a little schoolgirl in the end but the song was still strong enough to get second. Shocked Ireland realised what they needed to do by picking either her or Bambie Thug as seen in the Televote and National jury but wtf were those International votes!
I guess it came down to who was able to pull off better performance within the limitations of the late late show. (which is funny because the Czech final was the opposite where the studio version seemed to effect the choice more) My top choice hasn't won any of the national finals so far so I could also just be out of touch 🤣 but ya I agree with everyone that it's great that Ireland's top picks were for something different and unique. Take the gamble! 😁
Great video Tom. Loved you shared your reaction. This soo theatrical, artistic and out of the box. They are so talented in what they are doing. Im kinda familiar with these genres. Already on such a small stage with a lower budget this looked and sounded AMAZING. Imagine on the stage in Malmo.................................... For me its a guaranteed Final and a contender in ESC 24.
Spot on as always Tom! I cannot wait to see this. As you said in a previous video, it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t qualify - this is what Ireland needed to send. Simply incredible- at the OGAE party by the end of the performances, Bambie was by far the clear favourite.
I was so happy when I saw Ireland chose Bambie thug. Similar as you I wished for Ireland to do something out of the box and not so predictable. Using their word...this is definitely smashing that box and left field for Ireland! So so happy and excited. I really think they can make it to final.
I’m so happy that Bambie won! I wasn’t able to watch the show since the selections was so late in my time so instead the selection came to my dreams. I saw so many varities of nightmares where Ireland choose the boy band or other bland song😂 When I woke up I looked up the winner and for real jumped of joy when I saw Bambie had won! It made my day and rest of the week. I have been absolutely bobbing on the song since yesterday!❤
Got vibes of "they're coming to take me away, haha" from this. I absolutely love that Ireland is violently breaking out of the box 💪 Greetings from Finland (where we're only breaking out of denim eggs this year😏)
I can't really judge how good this can be without watching the live performance in Malmö, the stage they used in the alte show is the OPPOSITE of what you need on this kind of song. I'm really rooting for Ireland, sending something so different and risky it's what it's needed.
I think Ireland will make the final. This is different. This stands out. Croatia 🇭🇷 did the same with let 3. It paid in spades finishing on the left hand side of the board, even with the juries giving a very low score. This is a televote song.
this is my no 1 atm. absolutely mindblowing composition. realistically speaking, being in the 1st semi is very worrying for the chances of Q but i don’t even think that’s the point actually. Ireland is showing they can come with something original this year, this is what matters
I am so happy Ireland did not choose the standard dross - if only to see the puzzlement in the faces of some of the reaction video makers. It certainly has impact. Let's hope the final staging looks professional so that it has a chance.
Love love love this! Just needs a lot of money to make it look really professional and rich while still keeping that grunge and grit feel. So excited for them and Ireland!
I couldn't agree more about the knock on effect Bambie winning will have on irish entries going forward. The stigma that you can't bring something unusual to Eurosong and win is now gone. It really should inspire a lot more interesting artists to go for it in the future. Also the Irish public probably deserves a bit more credit than it has been given traditionally. If an entry is good, it can get picked no matter what genre.
How lovely to see that you were actually there Tom! It's nice to know that it sounded great in real life as well as on camera. For me this was my number 2 of the selection, Ailsha being my number 1. Then I saw the live show and Ailsha's performance was such a let down (for me). It was like a school production, put together by kids and you often lost the focus on Ailsha as she disappeared in to the background. Bambie Thug really brought a complete stageshow that was well thought out. It had the intensity, the softness, choreography, great lighting and surprisingly good LED symbols. The structure and set up of the entire performance made it less jarring and gave a little more narrative to the song, which is where Ailsha went wrong. Glad Bambie won. Just looking forward to seeing their glow up and seeing where they take this and how they present this package. Its definitely going to stand out for sure. I've seen so many people say that this is marmite. But I'd rather have a marmite song over a vanilla song! The amount of vanilla floppage that Ireland were churning out proves just why they needed to shift the gears towards something devisive to get the respect as a country that are starting to take chances again. Edit: you mentioned Dustin The Turkey, I have to mention that one of my all time favourite lines came via Dustin. "Bad acts and sad acts, and Terry Wogan's wig" 😂😂😂😂
It's really hard to call this one as it's so unusual but of course that's why it's such a positive step forward for Ireland... whatever happens, it should set a precedent for sending more daring entries in future. Good luck!
Hi Tom , I am so glad that Ireland decided to send Bambie Thugs, well deserved victory. I think I am a bit on a campaign trail here, but I am obsessed with their song Love Bites, if you a second listen to it (even better watch the video), it's just a stunning piece of music. As always, thanks for your reviews!
This is what we've been waiting and hoping for years. Something so edgy that we don't know how it's going to go on the Eurovision stage. I totally agree that even if it comes last (I'm thinking Triana Park in 2017) it's broken the frustrating cycle of 'will this do' average stuff we've been sending. There's a few things that could go badly for us. If Slovenia/Poland end up in the second half of the same semi-final and make our staging look amateurish we might be in trouble. In my dreams I would get whoever does Ukraine's staging to oversee this. If we are lucky enough to have Iceland, Finland, Serbia and Ukraine in our semi then we could potentially get a lot of televotes as those countries appreciate darker acts. On top of that, if we get the UK voting in our semi (and potentially Germany too). More points! We need to optimise what we have between now and May. Thinking about Czechia and Belgium last year. They had ok national final performances but ramped everything up - Costumes, rehearsals, LEDs and were rewarded with high placings. Even if this is a disaster we can enjoy the next few months of looking forward to how good this can be. This is a new chapter in Ireland's Eurovision story. Perhaps it will be a short one - so enjoy every minute.
yep loads of great points another thing id add about CZE and BEL is that they both had their NFs very early in the season, just like this, and that gave them loads of extra time to work on everything.
I must admit I wanted Ailsha to win, but I changed my mind after that performance. Well done Ireland, the right choice was made. Well done RTE too, they made some important changes that were necessary to update the whole procedure. Well done also to the panel who were pushing for a risky/out of the box choice throughout (barring Sonia).
Whats incredible is the 250k views for this song on the the rte UA-cam channel and in the top 50 irish Spotify charts ... This feels very positive.... RTE could do with a good News story....its been doomsday blues for RTE for quite some time now
I’m just glad Ireland is sending something other than safe pop! If RTE can invest the money and give creative freedom to go all-out, there’s a good shot once this goes to Malmö.
It's nice to see people getting excited for this and it not being last in many people's top 6. It's not my cup of tea, but I'll be happy if it goes through to the final show at ESC for the sake of Ireland.
I am so excited for Ireland! The song is starting to grow on me exponentially after hearing the studio version. I’m still a bit nervous, though, since Bambie was drawn 1st half for the more difficult semi final 1. I’m hoping that enough casual viewers will not be turned off and will vote for the song!
The Moon clock running backwards made it especially spooky, I am not sure the meaning of that, is it a reference to moving the Doomsday clock backwards, meaning more peace (which is a timely topic)?
I'm really happy Ireland chose this, and I think Bambie deserves to make the Eurovision final. I just really hope they get the Eurovision performance right, because Ireland has disappointed me often with the live performances
Seriously masterpiece? What is the definition of a masterpiece then? Please help out because many of us can't see it here..? Chaos as masterpiece? Yeah right.....😢
Me thinking about Corpse Bride A german Eurovision-blog thought about Edward with the Scissor Hands And now you with The Nightmare Before Christmas Yeah, this gives us all some kind of Tim Burton-vibes, right?
I like how the invited commentator panel was quite honest, highlighting 'hey, do we want to send again something that it's ok, but does not stand out'? :)
it’s so nice to be able to back my country in eurovision for once. bambie will slay in malmö and regardless of a qualification or not we irish euro fans can say we were proud of our entry
This was such an unexpected but pleasant surprise on Friday. I was fully intending on voting for Alisha and Bambi, giving slightly more votes to Alisha but after watching all the performances, I gave all of my votes to Bambi. Visually its striking and I loved the detail Bambi put into the performance, switching between different colours for each part of the song, having ballerina like choreography for the chorus contrasting with the harsh, intense choreo in the final part. You can tell that theyre passionate about the presentation and I'm so looking forward to the rehearsal photos (the enthusiasm and attention to detail reminds me of Brooke quite a bit) I think it'd benefit us if we were in a different semi to Slovenia but regardless, this dong will stand out sonically and visually from the rest of the semi. I'm like yourself when it comes to qualification, I'm not thinking it definitely will qualify, it is quite risky but it has the potential to do quite well.
My favorite thing about Bambi’s win was this epic catholic mass. I have not laughed so much in ages. ua-cam.com/video/C8eW5YCI0OY/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared Mass aside, so glad Ireland is taking a risk. I was taken aback by screaming parts initially but both the song and performance grew on me.
For all those people claiming that someone they know is spinning in their grave listening to this song please remember there are very little dance options in a coffin. Also you're supposed to wait until people are dead to bury them.
This wasn't my fave before the live, but it definitely became it after. There's clear artistry and a vision they have in mind, and they are quite obviously talented as well. The song has a nice flow to it and is more than unique enough to stand out. I can only hope RTE gives them the support to truly make the vision come to life in Malmo. Now I'm just praying tmr we get Ireland, Slovenia and Norway in the same semi, cause if Gåte is picked we'll have 3 bombastic witches in the same semi, it'll be an iconic Halloween in May that few will be able to handle it's sheer awesomeness.
Love you Tom ! Was supposed to be at the aftershoe in the Odeon but couldn’t make it ! I’m am so excited to see this in Eurovision it’s already appearing quite high in people’s picks of songs selected so far
Really good choice for Ireland! I thought Bambi's reprise was much stronger and they definitely had the most complete performance of the night. I would have been interested in knowing what you thought of the artists panel and the overall production of the Eurosong show for Ireland! (I've only discovered your videos this weekend but I'm so pleased I did! Your analyses are so thought out, smart and honest. Well done and thanks for the content :))
Excited for this, them, and Ireland’s comeback. I hope they work with a vocal coach to protect their voice since doing this song a lot could really shred their vocal cords and make the non-screaming parts very difficult to manage. Can’t wait to see and I predict will make the final if vocals are string!
I feel like Ireland are finally waking up to how Eurovision should be done, and a qualification from Bambi will change everything for us going forward. I feel like we can also trust Bambi to put together their own vision from the staging and performance in May, so I am not worried in the slightest how it the performance will be elevated to the big stage.
This was the right winner I think. Tbh based on the song I might have preferred Ailsha, but I wasn't a fan of her performance. Bambie Thug seemed to have their package more in order; you can already see that the staging was well put together and went well with the song. They do need to glam it up for the bigger ESC stage, but you can already see the ideas. And it's cool to see something this edgy and out there for Ireland! So I'm very happy for you being so positive 🙂
This song reminds me a lot of Samo mi se Spava (Serbia 2023). It's a niche community that will go for this but even if they have the numbers for it to qualify, I only see it reaching 25 at best. Still, a qualification would be a start. Good luck, Ireland!
So happy with Ireland's choice. Better entries from countries just results in a better contest for everyone. Also, we need to talk about that Spar Hamper. (The international jury were just jealous they didn't get one).
I hope they lean more into the witch theme. At the start they can dress like an evil witch and the backup damcers can be like the grim reaper or something, with the background maybe as the witch’s castle with thorns and stuff(complete disney evil witch camp). And then in the song switch, it transforms into disney princess, ( more like zoe’s staging in austria 2016 ). And then when they start screaming, there can be an evil laugh in the background with the music beat getting louder and a lot of choreo. And then a long high note in the background.
The backing dancers were great my favourite part of the performance. I enjoy the pop part of the song not a fan of the screamy part but I see this as a stage show song rather than I song I would listen to on Spotify.
Hello Tom! Your photo with Kalush's hat is very good! The Bambie song is my favorite so far. It is creative, dark but with nuances, and for my taste it is very captivating. I am glad that Ireland has opted to present something different and out of the ordinary. It allows to play a lot with the presentation and scenic elements that enhance it. I think it is very possible that they will enter the final, but regardless of the results, I think the Irish should be proud of their representation.
In line with what you've said previously about The UK's rival might inspire Ireland to do the same, I wonder if the BBC picking Olly Alexander had any impact on Bambie and Alisha being chosen for the national final. Michael Kealy has said that he doesn't listen to the songs until January, so the timeline would fit. But yeah, I definitely think Ireland has a real chance of qualifying this year.
I agree, they really need to up the production of their song with set design, choreography and costumes. At the moment, the song is like marmite, you either love it or hate it. You can win over the haters with an amazing set design, they'll probably think "I hate this song , but their staging was amazing" I don't know if its a good thing to lead more into the Celtic pagan folklore, will it come off as too gimmicky? But what I was thinking if they are, is too look at Irish pagan folklore, the Morrígan, phantom queen. The Morrígan is mainly associated with war and fate, especially with foretelling doom, death, or victory in battle. I think they could draw elements from the darker side of Irish folklore.
i'm so happy that bambie won! my only criticism is that i'd hope the presentation at malmo looks a bit more "mature" - i think their outfit was great for eurosong, but it felt quite... teenage goth esque, and i'd love to see something that's still spooky, but much more grown-up and professional-looking, even with the same face paint and eye contacts. otherwise i'm worried it'll be a little too germany 2016
ESC Tom, you're really becoming my favorite Eurovision commenter here on YT. That said, as a German I'm so happy for Ireland going for the changes that Germany so direly needs and, after last year seemed a tentative step in the right direction, seeing our broadcaster NDR going back to the same sheepishly, faceless nice stuff. And with the probable change to another broadcaster MDR, it's not going to get any better because MDR is just far more dusty, sheepish & old-fashioned. If we don't vote Ryk this year, it's gonna be a German cringe all over again... anyway, I looove Bambi Thug and I believe it will absolutely go to the final and will do well because of all the points you already mentioned!
Love the background dancers and those costumes. I would just like Bambie Thug's costume to be elevated a bit more though. I actually prefer their album cover art design which looked very lush, earthy, mystical but keeping that edge as opposed to Halloween costume-y Tim Burton style, which I don't mind personally for the smaller stage, but for ESC, let's upgrade the fantasy of it all. Obviously they should add some reverb onto the mic if that's allowed and have 4 dancers, bigger staging, some minor smoke but still keep visibility, and at least for the melodic parts, I don't think much dancing is needed on those portions giving them more opportunity to focus on vocals and transfixing people with slower movements. Can't wait to see the performance in Malmo! They was my pick for Ireland and I cannot be more excited that Ireland picked them~
I feel they are making a bigger statement maybe accidental a comment about social media the news we are fed doom and gloom ( ).I feel they are empathising with everyone to break though our frustration to realise we can be free of that . Wonderful generous artist ❤😢feel they are making a bigger statement maybe accidental a comment about social media the news we are fed doom and gloom ( ).I feel they are empathising with everyone to break though our frustration to realise we can be free of that . Tbh, I loved watching Eurosong 2024 (with sweaty hands, but I suppose you know why 😉) and I think it's for real a major step forward for Ireland. Kudos to Michael Kealy for working his butt off while RTÉ is constantly trying to hold him back. The elevated stage and bigger LED screens really changed Eurosong into something more professional. I watch Eurosong since 2022 and for the first time it also looked like the presenter took all of this more seriously. The advisors also gave actual good advice instead of what they did in 2022-2023 when they cheered on everyone - even though the song/performance sucked. It really says something. Also even if Ireland doesn't qualify in May, we should at least appreciate the fact that they finally selected something we haven't seen before. I'd say we need more alternative music in Eurosong. This can work for Ireland in future years as well.
Tom being positive about Ireland, love to see it, haha. It's a fascinating song, love how it alternates between chaos and calmness. A daring choice but I'm really happy that an artist like Bambie has already gotten so much support.

And I'm happy that MY act is coming from your country, so I'm rooting for the same act as my favourite Eurovision reactor!🖤✨️ Much love to you!!
i am so excited to see bambie on the big stage!! i hope they bring global voting cus trust and believe that I'll be voting from Singapore!
Wonderful! Really wonderful song for a change
I’m so happy Ireland chose this, it’s not often we see something this niche in Eurovision. Can’t wait to see the improved outfits and staging, it has so much potential. Bambie’s vocals and stage presence are already great, too.
Ok that was amazing. I’m so excited for Ireland this year!
So surprised and pleased that the two riskiest entries did so well and finished top 2. I am really confident now that we will welcome Ireland back to the finale!
Just imagine this song on a stage with four dancers two for the rock PART and two for the soft PART
oooooooooooo, i think 1 or 2 back up singers would be good too
I love this and I think Ireland could finally qualify. As you said it’s better for some people to absolutely love and some to absolutely hate rather than mid-table for everyone.
I hate this. ✅
Me and my brother loved the back up dancers too haahah
i loooooooooooved the backup dancers, so pokemon/zelda
It wasn't my first choice (I loved Go Tobann) but Doomsday Blue is very interesting. I think it's a song that will grow on me over the season. My first listen to it had me going "what on earth is happening" and then once the shock wears off I start to appreciate it.
Also, the backup dancers reminded me of the heartless from kingdom hearts.
I was team ailsha as well, but i posted on Twitter after her performance and almost all said that it wasnt good
It wasn't a bad performance but it didnt live up to the full hype.
Same. Go Tobann was my first choice too. In all fairness either one of those two songs could’ve won that night.
I guess it came down to who was able to pull off better performance within the limitations of the late late show. (which is funny because the Czech final was the opposite where the studio version seemed to effect the choice more) My top choice hasn't won any of the national finals so far so I could also just be out of touch 🤣
but ya I agree with everyone that it's great that Ireland's top picks were for something different and unique.
They will evoke a huge energy on stage!!
My fav ESC 24 entry up to now.
You're spot on Tom, no matter how this goes we made the absolute right decision with Bambie Thug. Time to be brave 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
💯
I was really excited about two Irish entries this year. Go Tobann was maybe my favourite, but this is really good as well.
Spot on as always Tom! I cannot wait to see this. As you said in a previous video, it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t qualify - this is what Ireland needed to send. Simply incredible- at the OGAE party by the end of the performances, Bambie was by far the clear favourite.
So cool to see Ireland sending this! Will be looking forward very much to seeing their show in Malmö
I have been absolutely bobbing on the song since yesterday!❤
honestly after the international jury votes came in, i think NIL were going to win. it was a huge turnaround
Got vibes of "they're coming to take me away, haha" from this. I absolutely love that Ireland is violently breaking out of the box 💪
Greetings from Finland (where we're only breaking out of denim eggs this year😏)
Love it! It has a "cabaret quality" and originality. My guilty pleasure of this year's contest. In my top 5 for sure.
I can't really judge how good this can be without watching the live performance in Malmö, the stage they used in the alte show is the OPPOSITE of what you need on this kind of song. I'm really rooting for Ireland, sending something so different and risky it's what it's needed.
I love that you said the dancers reminded you of Gengar/Zelda enemies bc they reminded me so much of the Neoshadows from Kingdom Hearts
Ireland is showing they can come with something original this year, this is what matters
this is sooooooo going in my top 20 favorite Eurovision songs ever
A good song from Ireland is so far the best thing to come out of 2024
If a shouting and screaming is the best so far, that's not very promising?
I am so happy Ireland did not choose the standard dross - if only to see the puzzlement in the faces of some of the reaction video makers. It certainly has impact. Let's hope the final staging looks professional so that it has a chance.
This year the "supernatural pattern" is very strong. We already have Slovenia, Norway, perhaps Poland if Justyna gets selected. Now Ireland.
Maybe that's to their detriment, especially if they're in the same semi. You'll need something basic for a refresher lol
Honestly I think with how sonically and visually different all four of them are there wouldn't be a huge split between their votes
We do not have supernatural from Norway - we have not chosen the winner yet
@@sunny_north my bad, I thought Gåte was a done deal...
@@idraotenah they've got to rewrite ulveham so you can't be sure
Oooo this is such a marmite song. It will either tank in the televote or absolutely destroy it. I’m all for it aha
Much thanks for the shoutout Tom 🤩
It's really hard to call this one as it's so unusual but of course that's why it's such a positive step forward for Ireland... whatever happens, it should set a precedent for sending more daring entries in future. Good luck!
Hi Tom , I am so glad that Ireland decided to send Bambie Thugs, well deserved victory. I think I am a bit on a campaign trail here, but I am obsessed with their song Love Bites, if you a second listen to it (even better watch the video), it's just a stunning piece of music. As always, thanks for your reviews!
Yeah, this is definitely going through to the Final. I love the choreography, the look, the show. She looks like the corpse bride.... love it!
I can actually see this doing really really well with the televote in the semis. Ireland can qualify finally and im soooo here for it!!!
Perhaps it will be a short one - so enjoy every minute.
yep loads of great points
another thing id add about CZE and BEL is that they both had their NFs very early in the season, just like this, and that gave them loads of extra time to work on everything.
This will be epic in Malmö. Love the fact that Ireland is doing this. You got my Swedish vote for sure.
Whats incredible is the 250k views for this song on the the rte UA-cam channel and in the top 50 irish Spotify charts ... This feels very positive.... RTE could do with a good News story....its been doomsday blues for RTE for quite some time now
yea the chart success is really awesome
I think Bambi Thug is brilliant the song of so different and quirky ideal for eurovision it will certainly stand out
I’m just glad Ireland is sending something other than safe pop! If RTE can invest the money and give creative freedom to go all-out, there’s a good shot once this goes to Malmö.
Good for you, Ireland.
It's nice to see people getting excited for this and it not being last in many people's top 6. It's not my cup of tea, but I'll be happy if it goes through to the final show at ESC for the sake of Ireland.
First time I ever remember voting in the Eurosong. Delighted about the winner 🙌
They're amazing!
Thank you Ireland for this masterpiece ❤️🇮🇪
It seems that every song that releases someone calls mastrpiece 🙄 This song is absolute s***
Seriously masterpiece? What is the definition of a masterpiece then? Please help out because many of us can't see it here..? Chaos as masterpiece? Yeah right.....😢
@@markp4767 a masterpiece for me is a song that I can rate 10/10. But yeah that’s usually 3-5 song each year so maybe the word is a bit overused 🤷♂️
@@esccse30I’m 55, this may not Be a masterpiece but it’s definitely great !
I just hope they keep the dancers. Should make the finals. After that....any cast can be spelt!
looking forward to that late late show experience :))
I did not like it at first but I have it on a loop now. Love!
Me thinking about Corpse Bride
A german Eurovision-blog thought about Edward with the Scissor Hands
And now you with The Nightmare Before Christmas
Yeah, this gives us all some kind of Tim Burton-vibes, right?
omg YES edward scissor hands!~!!
She reminds me of Eugenia Cooney. Especially the dancing. 😂😂😂
Go Ireland!!!! The end of the song is fantastic. Abracadabra i seek to destroy ❤
I'm so hyped for this and so happy Ireland is taking a risk! Bambie has such a cool vision and I can't wait to see it perfected at Eurovision 🫶
You can tell that theyre passionate about the presentation and I'm so looking forward to the rehearsal photos (the enthusiasm and attention to detail reminds me of Brooke quite a bit)
I think it'd benefit us if we were in a different semi to Slovenia but regardless, this dong will stand out sonically and visually from the rest of the semi.
I'm like yourself when it comes to qualification, I'm not thinking it definitely will qualify, it is quite risky but it has the potential to do quite well.
My favorite thing about Bambi’s win was this epic catholic mass. I have not laughed so much in ages.
ua-cam.com/video/C8eW5YCI0OY/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Mass aside, so glad Ireland is taking a risk.
It's music, theater, and performance art combined, I like it!
I am just worried that a fire will break out if they perform next to Ukraine :-)
I met Bambie at the OGAE after party too! 🖤🩶
I see what you’re getting at but No the Eurosong songs were picked by the start of December
@@ESCTom my bad. I must have missed that. But still, It's great to see Ireland sending a promising entry this year
I agree, they really need to up the production of their song with set design, choreography and costumes.
Im manifesting for georgia’s ireland’s and latvia’s qualification this year🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️
i'm really excited to see this on the Eurovision stage. the visuals we got from Eurosong were already really impressive
i'm so happy that bambie won! my only criticism is that i'd hope the presentation at malmo looks a bit more "mature" - i think their outfit was great for eurosong, but it felt quite... teenage goth esque, and i'd love to see something that's still spooky, but much more grown-up and professional-looking, even with the same face paint and eye contacts. otherwise i'm worried it'll be a little too germany 2016
Fingers crossed for ryk🤞
Imagine Norway sending Gate, another witchy song!
oh thats true, although i think their staging is less overtly witchy
The reprise performance was much better imo, but I really enjoyed both and cannot wait to see what they do in Malmö. 🌙
yes i remember that too, they were more relaxed
The beginning reminded me of Emilie Autumn. Bambie Thug legitimately scared me though lol
Finally watching this video AFTER the allocation draw and 15:56... damn Tom, I hate to break it out for you, but.... 😢😢😢
You totally jinxed it 😭😭😭
Tbh, I loved watching Eurosong 2024 (with sweaty hands, but I suppose you know why 😉) and I think it's for real a major step forward for Ireland.
I'm really happy you are excited about this. Personally I like the doomsday blue bit - the rest, not for me. I am curious if this will qualify,
Is Poland not doing a national final this year?
no, theyre internally selecting
@@ESCTom oh that's so interesting. Thank you for the update.
Hurray!
