Finn (eng: Find) - started as an online "used item for sale" service a bit similar to craigslist. It has since expanded to a place to find professional services (carpenters, plumbers and what not) as well as travel. It is by far the most popular site of its kind in Norway and used by many since it is free if you are doing private sales. Finn - even though it means Find in English - is also a name. Thus the cat - "Finn" or "Puse-finn" has become sort of like a mascot. It would be somewhat similar if Craigslist would have made a commercial with a dog named "Craig".
The advertisement with the doll hare as a baker is based on a children's song every Norwegian knows from the story about Hakkebakkeskogen (In the Forest of Huckybucky) by the Norwegian author and poet Thorbjørn Egner. In the song, the hare adds a kilo instead of a teaspoon of pepper. Opplysningen 1881 (Information 1881) is a company that provides information about telephone numbers etc. in the Norwegian market. Many have called the information just for fun to get answers to all sorts of questions - in the case of the hare, it wants information about how much pepper there should be in the gingerbread dough.

Opplysningen 1881 used to be 018 when I was a kid. One day while my mom was out at an evening course, my friends and I were alone and wanted to make waffles, but we couldn’t find the recipe. So I said «Why not just call 018?». So I did, I called and we got an answer and a nice lady gave us the recipe for waffles! Then later, there was a program on the radio where they interviewed some «O18 Ladies» and they asked about what people asked them about, then one said «We even had someone call and ask for a Waffle recipe!!!» and we were laughing and laughing, couldn’t believe that they were talking about us on the radio!!! This must have been around 1978… No Google or UA-cam to turn to for waffle recipes then… 😂😂😂
I think there are very strict rules for what you can say about your product, all statements are scrutinized and exaggeration is punished severely, so companies more often use humor to make their product visible, rather than making dubious statements about the product

With the bunny baking gingerbread, the reason it's funny to us is because it's one of the most iconic stories in Norway. The Baker's assistant bakes gingerbread with a kilo pepper by accident, and when the fox then comes to try to intimidate the bakers into giving him free food, they give him a piece of gingerbread with the kilo pepper to try to trick him into believing that when you pay for them, they taste much better (if that makes sense). In this scenario, however, the baker's assistant calls for help because he doesn't know what to do when he's had a kilo pepper in the gingerbread. It's a good story. One that I've grown up with😎
13:21 i couldnt stop laughing after the cat come up after he had said «oh a dog»😂. Btw Norwegians comrecials Are so funny and all that other stuff that he says. After what i know Norwegians like both cats and dogs, its pretty simular what people like, its not a big difference in numbers. It´s easy, Norwegian commercials are Creative and Innovative, I enjoy them and u make my day, Thanks! Commercials in the USA are stuck in the country's current policies and any slip of a company or product that bothers a minority is cause for complaints and lawsuits. Example: Case of the legendary Aunt Jemima maple syrup or the Uncle Bens brand that removed the brand's emblematic figures from their labels. Likewise in the commercials, everything is politicized, if they made advertisements with cute animals like in Norway, some organization or group would surely complain about abuse, cultural appropriation (the sloth bear is from Central and South America), patriarchy in the case of the cat that runs away from its offspring (the best of all you shown LOL). or anything that freaks them out and is a fact. Looking forward your next videos, your channel is awesome and... I ❤ Norway!!. Hugs, 🤗
One of the funniest Finn commercials, is when a couple discussing something, and the son enters the living room, and asks: Have you seen my drum set?? Mum: No I havent seen it. To the husband : darling have you seen his drum set? Dad, on his computer in the bedroom: No I haven’t seen it either. Typing away: great drum set for sale. Great price if quick sale!…Finn.no --Another day early morning , parents: Get up, we’re going skiing! But where are they? To the Son: have you seen our ski equipment?. -No, I haven’t seen any skis….Finn.no
I think perhaps the cat is the "Finn" company mascot to some degree. You can also see a simular looking wet one on their webpage if something fails to load. Along side the error message of "Sorry. There is some mess in machinery now. Try again in a bit." The word translates to "Find". They originally started out as a 3rd party trade company where users could organize trades to anyone interested. (Kind of like Amazon or Ebay) But they eventually expanded to also look for travel arrangements, work arrangements, and other branches. I don't have a good overview of their total scope at this point honestly.
Lots of companies in Norway often have small competitions for kids, letting them decide and make up their own commercial, with some guidance of course.. So sometimes the main "story" is just some kid letting their imagination run wild, and it's awesome!
Anybody wondering what the "Finn" thing is, its basicly Google marketplace just in Norway where they sell everything from gaming consoles too houses and cars

I wish more of the world could take jokes better, and not treating everything so seriously, or maybe that's just the impression I get online, because I don't dare tell jokes on social media, especially not on Twitter.
The commercial with the sloth going to coop prix is trying to advertise that shopping there is so quick and easy, that even a sloth who are normally lazy and slow, can quickly and easily shop there and get it done quickly.
The one about pepper - from a known story "Dyrene i Hakkebakkeskogen" where the rabbit makes gingerbread with 1kg pepper and a teaspoon flour - instead of the opposite!
It's a commercial that I found hilarious when I saw it (I think it was a joke) but it was about a boy going to his grandmas house and talking about a football game he had, but the grandma had Touretts (or what ever it's called) she called him a "butt head" 💀 and she said kiss my ass 😭😭😭 It's a commercial for milk. MILK. I'M CRYING RIGHT NOW 😭
It’s so funny to watch cuz I am Norwegian and when I see you reacting you like think it’s funny and stuff but when we listen to music in school and a ad comes up we literally don’t have a reaction at all like it’s just normal for us😂😂😂🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Norwegians are funny people. I know this because I'm Norwegian, and I'm funny. Very funny. In fact, at times I will be considered hilarious to the point where people ask me to stop being so. Thank you.
Norway have quite a few long running series in commercials. The Finn.no (similar to Craigslist) commercials have the cat as the main protagonist, getting things done for himself and other by using Finn. This particular series of commercial become incredibly self referential after a while and kind of collapsed into itself. You are watching some of the later commercials in this series. They are not used any more. Some commercial series have actually been going on for over a decade by now, and we see the on screen family grow up in real time! An example of this is Telenor (a cell phone service), where we have seen a guy finding his girlfriend, getting married and now they and now the kid has grown up and is going to school. And Telenor is handling this better, so I don't see the the series stopping until the actors get fed up. And if they do, they still have the kid brother to the main character turning up every now and then, so they basically is keeping a backup family to follow!
9:02 I don’t think we ‘like’ cats better than dogs, it’s just that Finn (a popular Norwegian website for almost anything) has a cat as its mascot. There is also another Norwegian brand that has a dog as a mascot, but I can’t remember what that was. Also the whiskers thing was cat food.

Tyler I though the Americans had it all 😁 Some of Norwegian commercials on tv is very funny 😁😁😁 Yes, I am from Norway lives in a city/town on the west coast of Norway call Aalesund ☺ Yes, Durek Verrett and his wife Märtha Louise visited Aalesund for few hours before taking a speedboat to Geiranger, there their wedding should be ☺
We Norwegians like cats and dogs pretty equally, but in the bigger cities and stuff and overall it’s easier to have a cat than it is to have a dog and stuff. Plus having a dog in Norway requires some special places they can go, for example my dog needs a garden or something alike a garden for her too do her business in. She also have to have a big space she can run around in, so when we had an apartment we had a BIG outdoor space really close to where our apartment was, so then we could have her run around there. A while we had made our own place on our porch for her to do her business because it was too far to the outdoors. So that’s probably a reason for why Norwegians having more cats than dogs. So basically dogs have more requirements than cats. That’s about it, please like this comment if you have been reading all this😊 no pressure of course 😅 😊 and merry Christmas 🎄
You say that people getting hurt couldn’t have been shown in America..? What about jack as.. married with children series …? And by the way you can’t compare America to Norway,. Norway is like one state 😅

i realy enjoy watching norwegian comercials
and yes norwegians have very lucid and trippy commercials lol
We had a thing. Not sure we still have it. Called gullfisken "Goldfish" that was a an award for best commercial.
MILK. I'M CRYING RIGHT NOW 😭
I know😂. Im from norway and i live in norway soo. 😂❤🇳🇴
It’s so funny to watch cuz I am Norwegian and when I see you reacting you like think it’s funny and stuff but when we listen to music in school and a ad comes up we literally don’t have a reaction at all like it’s just normal for us😂😂😂🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I have seen this commercial before 3:37
Norwegians are funny people. I know this because I'm Norwegian, and I'm funny. Very funny. In fact, at times I will be considered hilarious to the point where people ask me to stop being so. Thank you.
Hei eg er norks det er bra det
The first commercial says it in the song, "no milk today"... 😊
Coop prix is a branch of the mega-brand coop. We also have coop extra
the stop mition one bunny is from a famus movie here in norway its called "hakebake skogen"
0:45 Some of those are real moments
12:22 FAST AND EASEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!!! Legendarisk❤
12:26 I stopped looking at the add for one second but it was still in my side vision if you know what I mean and I thought it said torture😭
And here’s the thing… I AM NORWEGIAN
13:20 LMFAO😂
Norway is like one state 😅
The bunny in the commercial is from a children’s movie 😂
The japanese commercials are definitely the wildest I've seen. They use shock value to make you remember lol
Finn is pure advertisement gold. ❤🐱
the coop prix one is supposed to be you can shop groceries fast there. thats why the sloth gets really fast.
As a norweigen I can confirm that all commercials are like this
Oh I'm one of those watching Norwegian ads on the daily.
I live in Norway and cats are sooo often in ads
😊
norwegian dosen't take themself so serious, now americans is a diffrent story.
Any day with a sloth in it is a good day as far as I am concerned. This was fun. I agree, I loved these commercials. Wish we had them here in the U.S. Peace
OMG THE FIRT TIME I SEE A NORWEGON VIDEO😊😊❤❤
I guess the name Finn is a word play on the word find
Finn is for traveling, finding jobs, finding stuff u might want to buy, finding houses, both for rent and to buy, basicly find most stuff
