LeBron James recently become the all-time scoring leader.
In this video, I attempt to put his career into context by looking at some interesting time-markers throughout his career up to this point.

Here are some details that you forgot to mention, 2005, LeBron make his first masked debut and 2014 he wears the iconic facemask in Miami, and also drop 61 points versus the Charlotte bobcats, now known as the Hornets, which is his career high!

Sad how you randomly mentioned players getting drafted just for perspective being the players you liked like Roy, Zion etc. (no disrespect to them fellas I like them) but you failed to mention Jokić and Dončić like their not about to own the league in the future. Maybe it is because they are white, some black people hatin' on them but it is okey, they are and will shape the league more than any american athlete ever did.
Y'all repeating how Steph changed the game, a small quick guard shooting twice as much as his predecessors so no shit he would be the greatest shooter, but Nikola and Luka are changing the narrative trice as much as Steph because they are 1. European, 2. Unathletic and almost fat, 3. gifted beyond what american hoops can teach or breed. There's always a but with them to Balkan players. Two countries of combined 10 million people produced what the U.S. never did, hahahaha of course it makes folks jealous. When USA beats Slovenija in the summer people are gonna cheer as if that was an accomplishment and laugh at Luka but that's how miserable the states are. Focus on soccer, basketball ain't it. Other than that great video, keep it up!

Things to compare how long LeBrons career has been:
The Last Spider-Man movie to come out before he was drafted was Spider-Man 1 with Tobey Maguire
My Detroit Pistons won their last championship that season
The NBA only had 29 teams at the time. The Bobcats became a franchise in 2004-2005
The USA officially went to war with Iraq just a couple months before he was drafted
The music topping the charts during his first ever NBA game was Baby Boy by Beyoncé and Sean Paul, Get Low by Lil Jon, and Shake Ya Tailfeather by Nelly
Spongebob SquarePants was still in the the golden age, being in the middle of its 3rd season and a year before the first movie came out
LeBron is closer in age to Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton than he is to LaMelo Ball
The Janet Jackson Super Bowl nip slip happened during LeBrons rookie year, meaning he played live games with no time delays
Current youngest player in the NBA Jalen Duren was born the month AFTER LeBrons debut

The reason LeBron's number seem as good now as they did in 2013 is because of stat bloat. In 2013, he had the highest PER and VORP in the league, at 31.6 and 9.9. Now he's #10 in PER at 25.0 and #8 in VORP at 3.4. He's still great, make no mistake, but anyone suggesting he hasn't fallen off is delusional. He deserves full credit for sparing no effort and expense on his conditioning, his durability is incredible. But Father Time is undefeated. 12:29 "I never knew..." Really? I knew when he was in his mid 20's. Kareem played 3 years of college, and while I'm not the biggest LeBron fan in the world, I have to give him props: He's the defining player of his generation, like Wilt in the 60's, Kareem in the 70's, Magic & Bird in the 80's, Jordan in the 90's, and Kobe and Shaq in the 2000's. And every year, the game gets softer, and defense gets more and more perfunctory.

And, my highschool coach was National Highschool Coach of the Year after the 4th consecutive state championship Billy's senior season. Jeff went to Carolina ad had a short stint in the NBA. Billy went to Syracuse and played 10 years in the league. So, I know exceptional basketball talent at that level.

Since I grew up in the 80s and 90s (or "the 1900s!" as the kids today call it, lol) I guess I would be considered an old guy compared to most of the fans on this channel. I grew up watching dudes like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, etc, etc....I remember when Kobe came straight out of high school in the 90s. I was in college when LeBron got drafted in the early 2000s, so it's not some hazy vague memory of a little kid (or no memory for kids on here being born or not alive at the time). I'll be honest, I never cared for LeBron because I didn't think he was on the level of Jordan or Kobe. But I have to give the guy his props and mad respect for accomplishing all that he has, and his longevity. He'll never be the GOAT in my eyes, that's always MJ, but he's had an incredible career, one that's been really fun watching. When Jordan played in the NBA Finals, basically every year except 1993 against the Suns, we all knew Michael was going to win. There was no drama or suspense, because MJ was just so good. But with LeBron, well you never know if he's going to win, because he's great but not scary great dominant like MJ.

Name any MJ competition that could beat the Spurs or Warriors! MJ was facing, lets say, teams similar to the 2020 Miami Heat. That is it.

    • @tywayne3
      @tywayne3 Рік тому

@@danielabraham5901 not quite. None of his finals opponents were anything like the Heat. You'd have to compare them to maybe the 76ers or the Nets when they made the finals...maybe even the Mavs. Pretty much every other year both conferences have had pretty solid Champs.
No one thought the Lakers could be beat in 5, Trailblazers were strong and could run youboff the court. Sonics were scary and had good D and shooters. Jazz were just a solid team (like the Spurs).
And arguably the watered down competition was in the East when LeBron coasted through the regular season(s) and activated 'playoff mode'. I like Jim and truly admired the way he came in and played the game the right way, but the Bulls had to fight hard at least the years before the 96-98 rings (87-97).
