Sad that MJ did no load management like these players today to prolong their career. MJ playing 82 games even to his very last season, which pushed his body past the breaking point
@@fuckfuckfuck8 they shouldn't or they would achieve even less. Some guy already play 20 seasons, but still behind in hardware compared to 13 season career.
Friend and I were talking about this when he broke the record: call it Fate or what have you but let's rewind this back to the year 1984. Kareem becomes the NBA's all-time leading scorer Michael Jordan is drafted And Lebron James is born. Now nearly 4 decades later: Lebron breaks the scoring record and is in conversation with MJ and Kareem in the Greatest NBA players of all-time.
March 2019: saw him play against the Knicks. A legend of the game doing his thing at MSG... Childhood dream became reality that day. Amazing video! Greetings from Belgium.
You said, "I'm honored to watch his greatness unfold." I've been searching for that eloquent statement for the last 20 years. Thank you, and thanks to LeBron for sharing his greatness. I truly don't understand the hatred.
Record is never being broken!! Yes we said that about Kareem but Bron is making 45k, maybe 50k!! Ain’t happening in the next 50 years I’ll tell you that!!
I'm turning 28 this year, I've been a Bron fan since I was 10 years old, '05 when I seriously started to pay attention to basketball. I watched EVERYTHING from the early Cavs, Kobe vs LeBron debates in middle school, 2011 finals run, the 1st ring and on. And for me to be a full grown adult nearing 30, and still see this man play at an elite level STILL, breaking this record is amazing just thinking back at me as a kid watching him dominate.
Great video Dom! Truly remarkable what he's done. Man I feel old...let's just say I've seen both Michael Jordan and LeBron James in their primes ... I cracked up every time you'd say "Oh and the players of team X are all retired.." makes me feel REALLY old...lol
Lebron career is a bit overrated but to be fair being one of only 2 players with 4 finals mvps is a nice way to end any arguments that he isn't a top 5 player all time....its hard to put him 6th when he's led 4 teams to titles...the only perimeter guy with more rings as the clear best player is mj....
One thing I don’t see people mention is how he’s arguably a top 5 scorer of all time. People tend to think of the Iversons, the McGradys, or even the Hardens of the world being better but I can really only think of 4 names that can truly be considered above him in that department (MJ, Steph, KD, and Kobe)
The fact that he’s doing this is amazing but the fact that he’s doing things that literally no one else has is legendary. He will retire is the GOAT. Unmatched.
I remember ESPN broadcasting one of his high school games when the hype was really taking off. Thinking this is one that could dethrone Kareem. It's wild that I was able to watch it happen, and he's still going strong.
Bron was a rookie when I was in 6th grade... I now have a wife and 2 daughters, 3 and 5 and he is still doing his patented tomahawk slam... I'm from Cleveland so I got to see this up close and personal
I think Dom is like 24 or 25, so to him a guy like Kobe and AIlen Iverson that had their prime peak around 2002 or 2003 are like super old dudes to him. Though at least Kobe played well into the 2010s. But yeah, the comments about Yao and McGrady feeling like they played "decades ago" was stinging. He talks about guys that played in the 90s and 2000s the way I talked about guys that played in the 1950s and 60s back in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, but to me that was 40-50 years ago at the time. Not 15-25 years ago. Who didn't kinda laugh at the grainy black and white footage of Wilt Chamberlain in 1958 back in 1999 and wonder if he could score a 100 in the modern NBA.
@@ronski4059 How do you view guys that played in the 90s, 2000s, early 2010s. In 1999 I admit I didn't think well of an NBA player from 1955 or 1965, but that was 34-44 years ago for me at that time.....not 15-25 years ago.
It's crazy that the scoring record might never be broken again. If you think about all of the circumstances that have to happen in order for a future player to break the record, it just seems extremely unlikely. Saying the stars would have to align for them would be an understatement.
@@rell4219 They gonna average minimum 30 ppg for nearly 2 decades? They're gonna play at that high of a level for nearly 2 decades? They're not going to get any substantial injuries whatsoever for nearly 2 decades? They gonna always be a part of a team where they'll have to average a minimum of 30 ppg for nearly 2 decades? Lol.
@@KiddsWorldEntertainment Shai Giddious-Alexander is average by the standards of “All-Time Greats”. Donavan Mitchell also averaged 30 ppg before leaving A game in the 1st. Quarter earlier this year. Mitchell is A 6’1 shooting Gaurd.. comparable to A guy like Daquan Wagner, who if healthy could have had A good career, but was never going to average 30 ppg in the 2000’s or The “LeBron Era”.
Bron started in the NBA when I wasn't even going to school and now I'm about to finish college and he's still arguably Top 5 best player in the league. Crazy.
@@tywayne3 I would say try it but it was back on the ps2 lol so good luck. But the dunk contest you could literally do anything. It was free roam so you controlled your player the entire time you would hit different button combos to do different moves like cartwheels or throwing the ball off the backboard or shot clock. Or putting the ball on the ground or tossing it up in the air and you would manually chase the ball or put yourself in the spot to be where the ball lands then you would hit buttons to do different moves like under the legs 360 etc. it was by far the most creative dunk contest.
Every time we have to remember, nothing lasts forever. Enjoy it now. Appreciate Greatness, you never know when is the next time you are gonna get to be a witness.
The reason LeBron's number seem as good now as they did in 2013 is because of stat bloat. In 2013, he had the highest PER and VORP in the league, at 31.6 and 9.9. Now he's #10 in PER at 25.0 and #8 in VORP at 3.4. He's still great, make no mistake, but anyone suggesting he hasn't fallen off is delusional. He deserves full credit for sparing no effort and expense on his conditioning, his durability is incredible. But Father Time is undefeated. 12:29 "I never knew..." Really? I knew when he was in his mid 20's. Kareem played 3 years of college, and while I'm not the biggest LeBron fan in the world, I have to give him props: He's the defining player of his generation, like Wilt in the 60's, Kareem in the 70's, Magic & Bird in the 80's, Jordan in the 90's, and Kobe and Shaq in the 2000's. And every year, the game gets softer, and defense gets more and more perfunctory.
Nobody is saying he hasn’t fallen off. His peak was definitely the Miami years. But the fact that he’s still this good this late into his career is unprecedented. Nobody has been this good 20 years into the league. I mean, the dude is 38 and still a top 10 player in the league
I grew up playing Little League Baseball and highschool basketball with Jeff Lebo and Billy Owens in the 80's. Our highschool won 4 consecutive PA AAAA state championships and both were runner-up for National POY their senior seasons. And, my highschool coach was National Highschool Coach of the Year after the 4th consecutive state championship Billy's senior season. Jeff went to Carolina ad had a short stint in the NBA. Billy went to Syracuse and played 10 years in the league. So, I know exceptional basketball talent at that level. About two decades later, I was watching LeBron during his first game his rookie season to see what the hype was about. My girlfriend was occupied in the kitchen and asked me, "Is he as good as they say he is?" I simply replied, "He's better."
Yeah. Lebron haters forget how Lebron came in the 2003 season and was already destroying those dudes at 18 straight out of high school. He was averaging 30 at 19.
I’m 23……this is ridiculous. I have been spoiled with basketball since I started getting into it. 20 years….. once LBJ retires the NBA will not be the same. Once in a generation player, my goat.
3:20 the picture in the second i looked at longer than i even watched the whole video. Every single face even lebrons look confused as to how high up he is
Since I grew up in the 80s and 90s (or "the 1900s!" as the kids today call it, lol) I guess I would be considered an old guy compared to most of the fans on this channel. I grew up watching dudes like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, etc, etc....I remember when Kobe came straight out of high school in the 90s. I was in college when LeBron got drafted in the early 2000s, so it's not some hazy vague memory of a little kid (or no memory for kids on here being born or not alive at the time). I'll be honest, I never cared for LeBron because I didn't think he was on the level of Jordan or Kobe. But I have to give the guy his props and mad respect for accomplishing all that he has, and his longevity. He'll never be the GOAT in my eyes, that's always MJ, but he's had an incredible career, one that's been really fun watching. When Jordan played in the NBA Finals, basically every year except 1993 against the Suns, we all knew Michael was going to win. There was no drama or suspense, because MJ was just so good. But with LeBron, well you never know if he's going to win, because he's great but not scary great dominant like MJ.
The BULLS were great, that is how they dominated. Don't give everything for MJ to make your narrative pretty! He had a great coach, great general manager, great top 5 player teammate, watered down competition etc. Talk about the full picture here! Name any MJ competition that could beat the Spurs or Warriors! MJ was facing, lets say, teams similar to the 2020 Miami Heat. That is it.
@@danielabraham5901 not quite. None of his finals opponents were anything like the Heat. You'd have to compare them to maybe the 76ers or the Nets when they made the finals...maybe even the Mavs. Pretty much every other year both conferences have had pretty solid Champs. No one thought the Lakers could be beat in 5, Trailblazers were strong and could run youboff the court. Sonics were scary and had good D and shooters. Jazz were just a solid team (like the Spurs). And arguably the watered down competition was in the East when LeBron coasted through the regular season(s) and activated 'playoff mode'. I like Jim and truly admired the way he came in and played the game the right way, but the Bulls had to fight hard at least the years before the 96-98 rings (87-97). The last 3 were just about in the books...some other team had to come take them.
If you look at lebron's carreer, 20 years of basically 27ppg every year, it's just amazing to see how many goddamn points Kareem put up. Sorry, I know this moment is supposed to be all about Lebron, but this is what came to my mind.
Dude is a freak of nature. Dwight, Stoudemire, J.R Smith (didn't know about this), Josh Smith are all HS draftee too that was drafted after him, but didn't dominate as long
This video overlaps with so much content you’ve already done. I get Lebron deserves this video as recognition, but it would be nice to see some niche videos being released on this channel again some day. This used to be my subscription
NBA LIVE 2005 has us crazy!!!! I was literally crazy to get that game ! So iconic! It’s insane I’m a grown ass man many years removed from caring about the Game or any games for that matter and he’s still On top of the League ! That’s fucking insane ! And it goes against any prediction anyone could’ve made! NO ONE and I mean NO would’ve seen him be this successful and this consistent for this long !
Finals record aside he lived up to being "The chosen one" in every way. Would be 1A OR 1B in any Era, Michael's included. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a joke to me. Unanimous 5 player on everyone's list, maybe #2 on most. That's an accomplishment I think ALL of the 4,700 plus NBA players in history would gladly accept.
Lebron was also in NBA street volume 3, which was my favorite, but most people enjoy Volume 2 more. I'll have to play both of them again as adult to see the difference.

I wasn't born when he played his first game in the nba and nearly 20 years later he still dominating. Like him or not you gotta respect his professionalism and his greatness
I remember watching LeBron high school games on ESPN when I was in high school. Crazy how his career has unfolded along with my adulthood.
Fr
I knew he was gonna be good but not my favorite player which he is it's crazy
I never thought there would be a time where he would be the oldest active player in the nba..that time is coming after this season if iggy and haslem retire
I'm 28, I've been fan of Lebron since receiving NBA Live 2005 and playing dunk contest, he was the main reason why I'm following NBA and why I'm playing basketball, he fuelled my dreams to be basketball player, this video was crazy road down memory lane.. man.
I'm happy I got to see it happen live. I don't think this record is going to be broken again in my lifetime.
Plus he will be adding to it for a few more seasons
Considering he may even hit 43k it may never be broken
Even if Wembanyama meets the hype he'd still have to last over 20 seasons and hit the ground running averaging at least 20ppg in his first year and close to 30 not long after
His longevity is crazy, I was 2 turning 3 years old when he was drafted. I am now 22 years old turning 23 in a few months and he’s STILL DOMINATING. Kudos to him, I’m glad to have watched and appreciate his career, he’s my favorite player ever 🐐💯

Neither were going to stay
Friend and I were talking about this when he broke the record: call it Fate or what have you but let's rewind this back to the year 1984.
Kareem becomes the NBA's all-time leading scorer
Michael Jordan is drafted
And Lebron James is born.
Now nearly 4 decades later:
Lebron breaks the scoring record and is in conversation with MJ and Kareem in the Greatest NBA players of all-time.
Most important year in NBA history
Victor Wembanyama got drafted
And if fate is to have its way, somewhere out there the face of the 2040s is born...
March 2019: saw him play against the Knicks. A legend of the game doing his thing at MSG... Childhood dream became reality that day. Amazing video! Greetings from Belgium.
as a new fan of the game, i love this style of videos. lots of good info and history packed in. keep it up
You said, "I'm honored to watch his greatness unfold." I've been searching for that eloquent statement for the last 20 years. Thank you, and thanks to LeBron for sharing his greatness. I truly don't understand the hatred.
The craziest part of his record moment is that he's 38 and scored 38,388 points.
That's fortuitous 🤣
And he lost
@@joshloach9016 would have been iconic if it was the 38th loss of the season.
Hold the fuck up.
It was the 38th day of the year.
Did he do this shit on purpose?

I'm turning 28 this year, I've been a Bron fan since I was 10 years old, '05 when I seriously started to pay attention to basketball. I watched EVERYTHING from the early Cavs, Kobe vs LeBron debates in middle school, 2011 finals run, the 1st ring and on. And for me to be a full grown adult nearing 30, and still see this man play at an elite level STILL, breaking this record is amazing just thinking back at me as a kid watching him dominate.
Same lol.
Great video Dom! Truly remarkable what he's done. Man I feel old...let's just say I've seen both Michael Jordan and LeBron James in their primes ... I cracked up every time you'd say "Oh and the players of team X are all retired.." makes me feel REALLY old...lol
Great video to put into perspective the career (so far) of one of the absolutely legends of the sport
Ik Dom isn’t the biggest LeBron fan but it’s nice to see him give the respect and put LeBron’s accomplishments in perspective
@@razkable lebron is certainly top 2 and anyone not acknowledging that is reaching.
Crazy unlike the 80s-90s I was here for all of this
Thank you for this!👑
Those Orlando teams were pretty revolutionary looking back
You were the first person I ever heard mention the likelihood and possibility of lebron breaking the scoring record.
I like how mj, kobe, and bron has a deadly fade away shot in their bag
The fact that he’s doing this is amazing but the fact that he’s doing things that literally no one else has is legendary. He will retire is the GOAT. Unmatched.
I remember ESPN broadcasting one of his high school games when the hype was really taking off. Thinking this is one that could dethrone Kareem. It's wild that I was able to watch it happen, and he's still going strong.
i don’t know a nba without lebron i can’t imagine him not playing and being one of the best players in the league
Bron was a rookie when I was in 6th grade... I now have a wife and 2 daughters, 3 and 5 and he is still doing his patented tomahawk slam... I'm from Cleveland so I got to see this up close and personal
I think it's funny Dom is talking about some of these players like it's ancient history
He called Bruce Bowen and Robert Horry obscure names like they’re the 9 and 10 man on the 50s Lakers. They had top tier role player careers.
@@John-ct9zs I'm only a few years older than him
@@ronski4059 How do you view guys that played in the 90s, 2000s, early 2010s. In 1999 I admit I didn't think well of an NBA player from 1955 or 1965, but that was 34-44 years ago for me at that time.....not 15-25 years ago.
@@GuavaConQueso ikr....yes they started their careers in the 90s, but they were both well known role players in the early and mid 2000s.

The fact that LeBron has a longer career that Chris Paul just doesn't sound right
And Chris Paul is considered a fossil.
It's crazy that the scoring record might never be broken again.
If you think about all of the circumstances that have to happen in order for a future player to break the record, it just seems extremely unlikely. Saying the stars would have to align for them would be an understatement.

I’m so glad nba live 2005 dunk contest got mentioned lol that shit is goated
I must have completely missed that one. Heard about it in a how-to-save-the-dunk-contest video a few days ago.

The whole "but Kareem played in College" argument isn't going to be a valid argument when LeBron hits 40k+ total regular season points
I cant wait for the Lebron documentary years down the line
I think this video would have been more interesting as it went on if it was down in reverse, counting down the points
In my mid 30s now... LeBron entered the league when I was a high school junior. Crazy shit. He's the most consistent presence external to my life.
Every time we have to remember, nothing lasts forever. Enjoy it now. Appreciate Greatness, you never know when is the next time you are gonna get to be a witness.
The editing of this video is astounding, great content, man.
Amazing video... crazy how Lebron's arc is still going on at a high level
@@coreyshafarman8918 there’s a lot players well into their 30s who still are good cuz defense is teash

Man, this video is incredible. Love your content dom, hugs from your (probably) only suscriber from Uruguay
Great vid man!! The saga continues
Bron been cooking since I was in elementary I’m 25 now it’s really crazy
When bron came in the NBA
I was 13 years old I'm 33 now and him still playing at a very high level and still top five is crazy
Yeah. Lebron haters forget how Lebron came in the 2003 season and was already destroying those dudes at 18 straight out of high school. He was averaging 30 at 19.
4:58 is mind blowing
I’m 23……this is ridiculous. I have been spoiled with basketball since I started getting into it. 20 years….. once LBJ retires the NBA will not be the same. Once in a generation player, my goat.
6:55 can’t believe both of them are gone

i wasn’t even born and now i’m 18
Genetic elite and PEDs and shill media will get you far...
GOAT 🙌🏾

I get this is a lebron praise video but it’s funny how quick you passed over the 2011 finals
