I have had mine out on the Columbia river and took barge wakes broadside. No issues. I would fall out before I think it would flip with normal use.

@@dablord707 I love this thing. I started out on small lakes before taking it out in the bigger ones. It handles great. I've been around ski boats, 25mph winds and haven't felt unsafe at all
I have a Jackson Big Rig and its nearly IMPOSSIBLE to flip! It’s amazing what they are doing with the overall stability of these kayaks!

Wow. I could see your confidence walking around on this 106. I could only imagine how stable the 12 is. Still haven’t pulled the trigger on a kayak yet but the 12 would be on my short list as well the The Catch 130 since it’s more affordable. Thx for all your time and effort. It’s appreciated.

i just did a demo day and out of all the pedal drives ( Wilderness systems , Native Watercraft, Riot Mako, Perception ) i felt like the Old town PDL drive was the best one out of all of them. it just feels like it is on another level of build quality . and it was CRAZY quiet and smooth.
Alex do you have a favorite Propeller (non hobie) drive system? which one and why
i think the old town pdl is the more refined drive of the props and also 5 years warranty is great easier to pull out too
Nice aliex! Really shows you can be moving inside the kayak doing your thing and you don’t have to worry about stability
Ohh yeah, I feel like on land in this boat
My 106pdl is pretty good for small lakes and short range trips, ease of loading and unloading... Super stable... Only downside is a cruising speed of 3.5 mph or so takes a while to get across big bodies of water. They need to make a 3 blade propeller that would unlock and maximize the true power of the PDL drive... Smalltownbass channel, look his work up.
It is perfect for those trips you described, but for big body of water the 120 would be better for sure 😁 I think a 3 blade prop would fit in the Pdl drive

But Please Ryan / Old Town Please Remove the seat from the 120 PDL and Replace it with the 2020 Predator straight from the Factory , the 120 Is Great but the Seat Not So Much . Great review! New subscriber shopping for my 1st fishing kayak. I’m stuck between the Bonifide RS117 & the Old Town Sportster 120. Since you have reviewed both, which do you recommend?
Two of my fav! But I think the 120 sportsman has an edge, newer better seat, more capacity

How well does this yak work in shallow waters? I fish in rivers with lots of low spots. Does the drive have some sort of quick release?
The drive can be up in like a second, you can have unlatched, no need to aligned prop or anything just pull

What’s the stability of the 106 pdl compared to the 120 pdl?
106 Is plenty stable for the normal below 230# but 120 is more stable

Paddles 🤔🤔🤔 only reviewed the assassin, if a brand sends one over for sure, I have a old Town carbon paddle that I really like but it is not out yet, maybe I'll review that one

The Sportsmans boats are the same hull just better seats and some minor changes so get the Sportsman

How is it going? Did you catch a tarpon?
The tarpon i hooked was over 100 pounds. It damaged my reel!. I was using a bait caster with 12# of drag that holds 100 yards of 20# braid!
Thankfully, my leader broke and all I had to do was reel in the 100 yards of braid!

If the seat position was a bit lower it would be near impossible to flip.
