Each time it replays he changes the story a little bit “Clean hit” “Well the elbow gets Okposo in the mouth but it’s tucked” “Ok the elbows out just a little bit” “Yeah he throws the elbow and clips him”
So funny to listen to these homer announcers. "His elbow was tucked in." "It looked inadvertent." Maybe they think we're just listening on the radio...
It's been a while, but I'm glad to see you made another video. I like how you include information like dates, how long the players were suspended for, the penalty, etc.
@@Cruncho Y'all had been targeting Petro the whole series. You got what you deserved, we broke you, and Florida beat you in the Final the following year. Sit down and enjoy cap hell, poser
3:59 So from seeing some of the older parts, how tf is a straight up slash without any intention of doing anything else (as far as I can see) only a 1-game-suspension?
@CybeastID how is that any different than someone dumping it in, the d man getting it, passing it along the boards and the f2 finishes his check after the puck is gone? Because that happens 50+ times per game.
@@one7decimal2eight Difference is 1) defensemen expect to be hit in that situation and therefore are ready for it. No one throws a reverse hit on a chip pass in centre ice against a backchecking forward and 2) those hits usually are relatively soft hits that'll never cause an injury. If you run a defenseman in the corner with a stiff shoulder to chest, you're gonna go if he doesn't have the puck. If you just sorta bang into him but don't really make a spectacle out of it, they'll let it go. Apples to oranges, buddy.
This video really reinforces how wildly inconsistent the DoPS in the NHL is... Still can't believe Makar only got one game for what he did to McCann, especially when they'd already the precedent by giving Bunting 3 games for something nowhere near as bad earlier in the same playoffs.
As a Red Wings fan, I'm still pissed that Ottawa was allowed to cross check Larkin to the head and knock him unconscious and there's no suspension of the responsible party.
A lot of these seem really light, 1 or 2 games for actions that are often non hockey plays that risk serious injury. The range should start at 3-5 and more serious should be close to 8-10
Maybe go rugby style - start with a high number, and reduce with any mitigation (acceptance of guilt, no prior similar occurrences), and add on for the opposite (non-acceptance of guilt, multiple previous occurrences of the same thing), etc.
I don’t blame them at all. Complete bush league what Makar did. There was zero reason for it, McCann did nothing wrong. The thing that surprised me was based on the camera angle no teammates went to his defense. Unless it happened off camera
I was at the game with Skinner and Guentzel. Skinner deserves the suspension and the major. And Guentzel deserved 5 for the two handed slash delivered right before Skinner lost his mind. But.. standard issue between whistle no call. So Pens get a major PP going into it to guarantee the win. Officiating in this league is stupid
Where’s the Matt Calvert hit on Tom Kuhnhackl from the 2017 playoffs that got Calvert a one game suspension that I had a front row seat for? Jesus Christ!
The league plays favorites. 100%. Darnell Nurse had an automatic 1 game suspension later in that game for instigating, while the league mysteriously intervened to overturn Malkin’s automatic suspension in the 09 finals
The Makar one is unfortunate. There was no whistle until after the hit...seems like Makar didn't know where the puck was and assumed McCann had it...McCann knew it was out of play so assumed the play was over.
I agree. I don't think it was necessarily evil on Makar's part. However, the onus should be on the Hitter that they should be absolutely sure the person they are gonna hit is in possession of the puck and not in a vunerable position. Makar was reckless in that regard and assumed incorrectly. I think its fair to give him a one game suspension because it was not meant to injure, it was just that he should've been sure before making a hit. Especially when mccann was alone in the Av's zone shorthanded.
Try being a leafs fan. Ppl think its played up. Its rough. Always non calls. Like reillys suspension too. 5 games. But the skinner one is only 3. Skinner was way worse
Do players ever get suspensions for fighting? Like, I’ve seen clips where a player is literally punching a guy who is already down while the refs are trying to separate them. I’ve always assumed that landing hits after somebody has given up would get you a heavy suspension but idk.
Cry more, Oilers had been targeting him the whole series. They had it coming. Imagine if Barbashev took a run at Drai, he'd have sent his ass back to the Stone Agea Leon is a little overpaid bitch who will never touch Lord Stanley and so is McFraud
I’m not defending Jeff skinner but typically speaking don’t wack older players especially those in there 40’s like Craig Anderson because if they get seriously hurt they don’t recover as easily as younger guys do.
The Makar suspension was ridiculous. Later that series, one of the Avs players got boarded, and broke his neck, yet there was no suspension. Player safety is a joke.
What’s even worse is If you are in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Your Team Makes It To The Stanley Cup Final And you can’t play Because you have been Suspended and you can’t even Lift The Cup Trophy
As someone from a country that doesn’t ply ice hockey, these fines are shockingly massive! $145,000!! You’re telling me he gets paid enough in a year that he can afford that!! They say soccer players are overpaid where I’m from but fuck me, those people need to look in to the NHL.
The one on cernak was questionable. That was more incidental contact than anything else he was just finishing his check that's basically you know like targeting in football you can make no contact with the head and have the head run into the elbow because of the imword Force
There's 2 problems with NHL linesman they never let the goalies fight because the referees think Referees think their way more cooler than they have more authority over the players when they're allowed to drop the gloves when they need to
To be fair, Makar should have been suspended longer. For no reason he pushes McCann and then slams his head into plex glass which is pretty hard to break
Fluery vs binny is the biggest robbery we have ever witnessed
One of the few times that I don't blame the crowd for booing. If I was there, I would be pissed that the refs kept them apart.
Gotta love flower
The refs should be fired in my opinion. It would’ve been seen all over the world
On wrestling night too
Literal history!
7:00 “his elbow is pretty tucked in” 😂reroll the video again
i hate when ppl are like it was tucked tho hes still taking a chicken wing to the face

Pretty sure that elbow can't be extended any further.

Few and far between but when you make videos, they’re gold

5:52 the fact that Jack Edwards agreed with the Ref to eject a Bruins player: “Yep”
I always forget what caused an almost-goalie fight between Binnington and Fluery, I just remember that there was an almost-goalie fight.

How is that one on Hartman a suspension? He had the puck. He was about to get hit. He hit first.
He doesn't have the puck there though, he passed it away.

These are really well done vids. Kudos!
I’ve always been curious where do these fines go? Like does the NHL just keep the money or what do they do with it?
It goes to the players emergency assistance fund which is for retired players that need unexpected help financially
3:40 Why did Hartman get suspended? It just looked like he reversed hit Ehlers

It’s textbook Interference. The puck is 30 rows in the seats and no where near McCann
Great Videos. It shows again how inconsistently the suspensions are dished out.

The Avalanche deserve the suspensions still. They’re really stupid for not learning what happened in 1995-1996 1996-97.
