    This video just set me so free from worrying about supplementation. I knew my intuition was right. The absurdity of thinking the human body was designed to need daily supplementation of fish fat 🙄 thanks for giving me the intellectual permission to follow through on what I’ve been feeling.
    This is on the top 10 videos I’ve ever watched in my life.

    Makes a lot of sense to me. Also, we evolved in equatorial East Africa where the fish don't have much omega 3 lipids -- that's what cold-water fish need to have. All the hominids eat a lot of leaves, and leafy greens are a good source of ALA, but they do not consume pre-formed EPA and DHA.

    Thank you for this amazing argument ! However it would be really useful if you'd provide the cited bibliography in the description of the video, or in a comment.

    Thank you. I understand that conversion ALA into DHA is done in tissues, so measure it in the blood make no sense. But how about EPA? Do we have right measurement from the blood, from which we can conclude that conversion from ALA to EPA is sufficient?

    • @DrLaurieMarbas
      @DrLaurieMarbas  Місяць тому

      Measuring EPA levels in the blood can provide a useful indication of the conversion efficiency from ALA, particularly when dietary conditions (such as a lower LA/ALA ratio) are optimized to enhance this conversion. However, the conversion rates are generally low, and these measurements should be viewed as part of a broader assessment of dietary and metabolic health.'

    • @zbyszeks3657
      @zbyszeks3657 Місяць тому

      @@DrLaurieMarbas :Thank you for your kind answer. I just spotted info suggesting that the "low" conversion results are effect of measurement level of DHA (not EPA?) and in the blood stream, while DHA is the last metabolic product of conversion pathway and additionally it's not beneficial or might be a little harmful for cardiovascular system, so conversion happens at deeper level in the tissue.
      From my simple minded perspective nature is correct and it's not lacking anything, so if huge part of human population in history lived without sea food - let's say Africa, Asia - than there is little probability that their organisms were lacking DHA and EPA. If that would be the case they should perish and only ppl eating sea food rich in DHA and EPA should flourish which is not the case.

    Regarding the Omega 3 Index test. Apparently this test looks at the % of EPA & DHA in the fatty cells of the MEMBRANE of the red blood cells.
    Since it is testing the membrane of the red blood cell does this mean this test is accurate and useful to access the whole body's level of Omega 3
