Thank you for talking about this Dr. Marbas! This video resonated. I'm 50 and have been dealing with a ridiculous amount of joint pain for over a year. It feels like a game of whack-a-mole trying to address the latest pain. Began with the right knee and hip, then my back and currently dealing with Achilles tendonitis. I've been wondering if there was a correlation between estrogen loss and joint pain and you've confirmed it! My gyn is not responding to my questions on the issue. My Ortho and PT can't provide insights. My PCP was useless when I told her about my joint pain and poor sleep. What kind of Dr can help assess and address the issue? An endocrinologist? A "menopause specialist" (if there is such a thing)? I eat a WFPB diet and was reasonably active before my pain made me replace fun exercise with PT. I prefer lifestyle solutions, but eating healthy and taking turmeric supplements is not enough. I need a Dr who can be sensitive to my specific challenges including the impact of hormones on my migraines. Any advice is appreciated! I want freedom from this pain and to get good sleep again! (I can deal with the night sweats but not the rest of this.)
OMG, bless your heart! I feel you. You need a menopause specialist and yes there I am taking the test at the end of the month. Happy to see you as a patient. drmarbas.com and I am also launching my menopause masterclass later this week.
@@DrLaurieMarbas Thanks do much for your quick response! I've never worked with a doctor virtually before. Is there an email address I can reach you at to ask you a couple of logistics questions before setting an appointment? Thanks so much!
Here's my bummer. I'm on hrt, but my gyn is stumped cause im wfpb, and we are known to have higher levels of shbg. Mine is 200! So my hrt patch estridiol and Testosterone is going be bound up in the shbg. i just don't know what to do😢 She says i need alot fat and protein to bring it down. I do 15 percent fat to keep diabeties risk low. I really dont want to change my diet after 18 yrs. My thyroid, liver, all is perfect. Metabolic panel is always great. A1c around 4.3 steadily. Crp always normal. This diet has treated me very well at least i think. Lol. I just need my estridiol available. Have you ever come across this doc? Thank you.
Some studies suggest that specific nutrients, such as vitamin D and certain phytoestrogens found in flaxseeds, may help modulate SHBG levels without dramatically changing overall diet composition. Additionally, strength training and resistance exercises have been shown to potentially lower SHBG levels.
Ah shucks, you tricked me into clicking on this one by not putting "for women" &/or "Menopause" in the title the way you usually do. I feel like I stepped into a Women's restroom by mistake: "I should not be here" but can't bring myself to click away now that you've begun speaking. 😂
Good video, Dr. Laurie.😊
Thank you!
