Really a nice vlog to watch...love all the old cars etc...that acreage was awesome too!!! Safe travels!!
Glad you enjoyed it
You are a good man Alex! At least the Home Depot list wasn't rubber gloves, Duct tape, plastic tarp, and bleach, Lol.
I had to laugh when the squirrel jumped out😂😂
Was perfect😂!!!
😂
And then one minute later he goes and opens a trunk of another car
That was a good video. The farm reminded me of my farmer brother-in-law and my sister's farm lots of woods and things to wonder around and see. My brother-in-law had two garages that were loaded with tools and bits and pieces of cars and tractors. You brought back great memories of visiting their farm.
That is so kind of you to help her out!
That large “camper” in the 40’s was a full size single wide trailer that one would permanently park. At least that’s what they were in our neck of the woods.
In the 1960s the pulp mill in our small town placed ones like that first one for employees!
@@Elizabeth-rq1vi hinton alberta ?
@@dutchywv no, Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario. A little smaller than Hinton back then.
Alexander, you frightened that poor little squirrel! 😂
And visa-versa, I suspect.
I had to stop right in the middle of the video to comment. These are exactly the kinds of videos I love to watch from you. If you hadn’t decided to be kind and helpful to this woman, you probably never would have seen these incredible cast offs! It’s the history that I find so fascinating. …and now, back to the movie!
Only you would agree to doing someone else shopping, need more people like you! 😊
Hi Alex. I've got a couple of little diecast cars that you can have. No charge! Please pick up a gallon of milk and an eight pack of hamburger buns on the way. I live in Southern California. See you soon! 😉
LMAO legit here in N CA 😹😹😹💅
😅
😊
OMG! My dad had a 190 with the fintails and the red interior just like that. I can't believe you found that out there. He passed away after Christmas and seeing that brings back some memories. 🥺 I don't know, Alex, there's something special about this channel - the way you find things that reconnect us with our pasts.
I love your enthusiasm as you start your journey! You are such a cheerful narrator! Thanks for having me along!!!
.Your storytelling skills are smooth and 'effortless'. Your narrative is full of information and anecdotes. Thanks for the tour through the bush and warning me about the holes and the ground wasps.
Omg. That’s a lot of stuff to get rid of. Glad it’s not my job. Love that squirrel scare. 😂
I'm sure this is probably the 40th comment on the squirrel, I LAUGHED OUT LOUD!! I was expecting a hibernating bear to wake up 🤣 🐻 🐿 😂
FYI, never bored watching your picks.. always interesting
Lucille Ball movie was called the Long Long Long trailer. It's my children's favorite and they're in their 20s and 30s.
Fun to see you out in the wild again!! ❤❤❤
The squirrel scared the crap out of me too!!! 😂😂😂
Alex, you are the eternal optimist😊
😂😂😂Thank you squirrel😂😂😂
Hilarious footage 🐿️💨💨💨
Hi Alex, it’s sad seeing cars abandoned and rusting out in fields or woods. The old camper trailers are aren’t seen much anymore. The squirrel was hysterical 😂😂😂 The dump truck was interesting. I guess time consumes the detritus of our lives. Thanks for sharing this adventure! ❤
Great video!!! Lot's of old stuff. My kind of day 😊
In the late seventies my Daddy drove me to school in our 1964 Heckflosse 220SE. Beautiful car.
I loved watching that walk through. It brings the outside world in for those of us who can't get out anymore. That was fun to see the old buildings, cars and sheds.
I'd have asked for a second shopping basket... for myself.
What a neat place to poke around in. Thanks for taking us along!
Cheers, Pat/Yukon
13:23 is the killer squirrel!
You did a great job keeping it in frame for being startled!
Never guessed I would have found much fun watching you pick through old scrap cars but wow that was fun mostly because of your excellent naration and knowledge well done great video..
Lol, she somehow knew exactly what kind of man you are, and put her hope and trust where it is most definitely deserved ✅💯💛😹
So of course you went to Home Depot, fulfilled an entire shopping list, then drove an hour out of town to deliver it all- for just a single vintage car radio you planned to buy from her sight unseen as it were.
And with your seemingly constant luck you found an entire estate of abandoned items to find treasure to buy in.
HA HAHAHAHA!!! OMG, I about jumped off my seat when the squirrel launched itself at you and you squawked in alarm. 😹🙀🤦
That was a perfect day out for you - you are probably the only person who could identify the make / model of a car by virtually the indentation in the soil ! Hopefully you come away with usable stuff
From 1920s equipment to an abandoned Apple monitor !
"Pick me up some stuff on your way out here to buy something from me" with "Well alrighty then" is the most Canada arrangement ever.
13:22 OH Alex, I'd have screeched!! But instead, I just got a much needed laugh! Thank you for always being consistently a wonderful quality human being that is a great example to men everywhere.
Hooray for Alex being able to post these pick videos again 😃
Not a camper, but a mobile home. They were smaller back then and designed to be towed by a car or pickup.
That's what I was going to say. Back in it's day that was a larger sized mobile home.
My uncle and his family had a trailer they pulled with a station wagon. Not a camper.
In the UK they are called Campers (as in look up VW camper) while motor homes are bigger and coach built. We tow caravans. That’s is a mobile home and again over here are used in big camp sites. They get transported on flatbeds to the sites.
My uncle pulled his trailer all the way from Fort Worth to Dayton, Ohio. Back in the 60s.
That property is a gold mine for people that are into that kind of collectibles. I even enjoyed it and I am not into any of that. The Home Depot story was unique. It’s always a good feeling when we can help others 😮 Thank you
Thank you for this video, Alex. This was more interesting than you think.
Also, I was so happy to hear that the lady is cleaning out all this stuff. To me, these kind of private land properties filled with junk everywhere, are extremely alien. In Germany it is outlawed to not properly dispose of cars, or any kind of nature littering. Whenever I see such places in videos, I get very mixed feelings, somewhere between excitement of exploring and getting depressed because of how humans destroy nature. .. Imagine all countries would outlaw this kind of littering, demanding proper and institutionalized garbage disposal / recycling. I'm pretty sure, someone smart could built a business around this new law and make a decent penny with it, while helping out all these owners.. Also, I think George Orwell or William Golding could have written a novel about this, describing how civil war breaks lose over a new law like this.. xD
edit: This is NOT meant to be a political thought. It's just a storytellers mind rambling about what I saw. Please feel free to delete this comment, if it doesn't fit your channel's vibes. I would totally support this decision.
I appreciated how clean Germany was when I was there, but it is fun to find places like this to explore!
That's AmAzInG, I hope she continues to put things up for sale, all the car parts in the trailer home, have kept them in good condition. 😊❤
All the cars is worth some cash, even the totalled merc
Those squirrels always seem much larger and vicious at that first encounter. I hope these folks were able move alot of treasures that were in more salvageable condition.
Lol so funny that she sent you shopping 😂
It was so nice of you to go for her though!
My best friend’s first car…at 16 in 1966…was a Volvo….like one of those. She put in a 8 track tape deck, and we grew up thur our high school years goofing off in that car….many memories…
One of the first videos I ever saw of yours was you and Stephen looking through an abandonedned general store.. years ago.. his voice hadn't even changed yet😅. This reminds me of that.
Your car knowledge is amazing!
Nope, fully the opposite of bored out of my mind. Seeing the old car with the CAN-AM sticker makes me think some of the greats like my father, Bruce McLaren, Jackie Stewart might have walked within feet of it. Thanks for taking us along!
So sorry, the squirrel situation was so darn funny I had to watch it twice 🤣
I bet that got the heart pumping! ❤
I'm not interested in the car stuff so much, but every now and then I spot something I recognize and get excited. I wanted that box of toys! I'm a tad bummed, though... was hoping for a cleanout series.... I guess that mean ole critter scared the notion away!
This reminds me of " The Hills Have Eyes " . But really enjoy walking through old farms like this.
What an interesting adventure...
Enjoyed every step of your adventure!
2:56 "Pretty much nothing... miles of nothing"
Canada eh 😁
This was actually fun to watch. I didn't think it would be.
Lol i dont know know who was more startled and ready to hit the ceiling - poor Alex or the poor squirrel!!
Really intetesting how junk is taken into the woods and left to deteriorate. I miss seeing your sons come along on your adventures!
I'd take that desk out of the garage of car parts. AND that SADDLE!! YES! I need that.
That beautiful radiator cover would have looked great as a piece of art on your garage wall
Great Adventure!
Love old Farmyards like that!
That movie was “The Long, Long Trailer.” One of my favorites. Bought a DVD on Amazon.
The old American car is probably Chrysler Corp. either DeSoto or Dodge 1930 -'31. The engine blocks identify them. Friendly & positive video! Cheers.
Thanks for taking us along on ur adventure, it was awesome !!
The condition of those old vehicles and campers is actually amazing considering they have been exposed to the elements so long. Definitely a testament to the fact that things were just made so much better back then.
The Long, Long Trailer (1954), I love that Lucy and Desi movie! Exploring old properties is fun and you never know what you might find, and that squirrel made me jump too! Thanks, again, for letting me tagalong. 😊
That was fun, thanks for taking us song.🤗
I grew up in bush Alaska, where it was accepted custom to pick things up for others if we had room in our suitcases. Or we would pack stuff (usually fresh produce) into boxes and ship it out on the mail plane. Of course we generally knew those folks. Im glad you saved the gal a trip into town.
I love all your videos but this kind has a warm place in my heart. I also feel that unless there was someone else out there with you in that garage, that you may have run across a ghost or two. So much fun Alex. ✌🏻💚🤞🏽
Ok I realized you had human company. Lol. But still, ya never know. 👻
I was getting real Stephen King vibes from the opening (stranger in the woods first asks you to go to a hardware store) but then the “evil” squirrel in the trailer! 😂
I had to watch the squirrel jumping out at you twice it was so funny. It was like a horror movie you saying you could hear something lol 😂
Melissa was teasing me with that too! ;)
Alex, you are too funny, and brave or insane, for going out in the middle of nowhere alone. I did need to rewind a couple times to watch the squirrel's arrival. You were much more reserved than I would have been. When was this video made? XOXOX
I jumped 🫨too when the squirrel came running out! But I’m sure it was just Rocky the Squirrel and me t you no harm 🤭 But remember Rocky had a partner so keep your eyes open as Bullwinkle, the moose is not far away! 🫎 Stay safe! Alexander, you have Midas touch when it comes to old cars in junk yards. 🤔I can’t wait to see which one you choose to drive home! 😉 If anyone can, my money’s on you.🦸🏻♂️ Going shopping for the lady was so sweet of you. After seeing how far she lives in the middle of nowhere and with dozens of no running car! I’m surprised she didn’t have a grocery list too! I would have included a running vehicle 🚗 in the deal!💁🏼♀️ Thank you for another great video. I hope there’s a part 2 where Josh comes back with you.😊 love to you and your family, Fran
PS
On your next trip to Nashville, I live in Cookeville, would you go by Lowe’s and pick up some weed killer for me. 🤦🏼♀️ weeds are up through the boards on my new deck! They didn’t cover ground before they built it!!
A true scavenger
hunt!!😮
Would have loved to go treasure hunting back there. lol I love to walk around and look for stuff too. Have a great day and safe travels
Hi Alex that was funny the squirrel jumping out. OMG. 👋
I thought you were going to fall backwards out the door, when the squirrel said "boo". I laughed so hard.
Jason A would probably love that place! I'm sure he'd find all kinds of treasures!
What a fascinating place!! I could spend a whole day exploring at a place like that.
The green reflection on your face on the way out to the property was interesting. I wonder what the source of it was?
I kept thinking that property would be a great setting for an atmospheric horror film at night.
I would have taken the Rainbow Brite Sprite plush and at least a couple of the books. 😊
The trailer is a Spartan. I'm guessing it's a Spartan Imperial Mansion. Somebody wants it.
For sure someone would be willing to come save that old Spartan. Not many left to get. Really enjoyed this video. Oh, and kudos for your trip to the store for her.
Had a chance to buy 3 1950s/60s Mercedes at a measely $100 each about 6 years ago (on the condition I didn't scrap them)...sadly I had no place to store them, as my property was for sale, and couldn't afford to "junk it up" with vehicles at the time. Was sad to see them go to the local scrap yard in the end.
Saw the movie you are talking about several times (the long, long trailer). Very enjoyable.
Love these old abandoned places videos, Alex!
You are a nice guy, Alex!
Thanks Alex ❤
Well, my heart was in my throat all around that walk . I expected you to fall or something to jump out at you then the squirrel did I screamed with you. Lots of work for the nice lady!!! lol
That rusty old car looks like an old Buick my Grampa drove in the 40s.
That squirrel scared me too lol
Do y’all have snakes there, that’s what I would be watching out for.
The Long, Long Trailer ? Such a funny movie . ❤
Oh my gosh that’s what popped into my head ! So funny. 😆
You are definitely brave!!! 😅😊😂
The movie was The Long Long Trailer as is hilarious. Lucy & Desi at their best.
Plus, they pulled it with a Mercury convertible!
As I remember, Desi had a time trying to back the trailer in to park. It was hilarious 😂
Not bored at all by you looking through old radios; that was interesting too. The thing about wanting the original radio with the car, I think is also exemplified by wheels. I (40) and my friend (60) both own the same 90s Honda. He wants to 5-lug swap his and look for aftermarket wheels. I went to great lengths to find original wheels and plan to keep the four lug even though not much fits it. The difference is whereas my friend was around when they were around; as a millennial by the time I ever got to a classic car someone had already swapped out the wheels and radio.
Near Chicago. Years ago, I went to a demolition sale. Because it was close to town, there were no large objects. It was interesting, though. Tina, Al's wife
Thank you for the video 🙏
Did you need a new pair of drawers after the squirrel attack?
I think, it's beautiful. Soooo beautiful 😊
Thanks Alex!
I’m seeing lots of aluminum scrap laying around. The window frames, etc.. They could work to turn that in, and get a little money.
Imagine stopping that massive trailer with drum breaks and no ABS
Scary stuff!
That first one you walked up on wSnt a camper it was an old mobile home my aunt lived in one that my uncle had on his trailer lot where he rented them out i remember it well as a kid.
Good video. God bless your channel.
I have that movie the long, long trailer and it’s by far one of my favorites if not my favorite. I never never tired of watching it.
The Long Trailer! A classic!
The Long Long Trailer:)
Never bored with your videos
This truly was an adventure. 😊
Alexander,
Thank You for the Veldt exploration:)
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Hey from Memphis. I would have needed a clean set of underwear after the trailer squirrel. 😂
