$243,900! Daniel Negreanu Hopes Antonius Doesn't Have A Big Hand

  • Daniel Negreanu is infamous for losing lots of huge pots on TV shows like High Stakes Poker, but it's somewhat unusual to see him on the set of Poker After Dark. Will the change of scenery help his fortune? He's up against Patrik Antonius for nearly a quarter million dollars, after questionably limp/calling preflop. How should this have played out?
As always, Doug breaks down each street of action. Poker Hands is the show where Doug analyzes live poker hands from tv poker shows such as Poker After Dark, EPT (European Poker Tour), High Stakes Poker, the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the Aussie Millions, WPT (World Poker Tour) the Big One For One Drop, and the PCA (Pokerstars Carribean Adventure). He especially enjoys reviewing hands by popular high stakes pros like Viktor "Isildur" Blom, Ike Haxton, Dan Cates (Jungleman), Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, and Phil Ivey.

Did you take all the rakes back to walmart after using them for the video or do you still have them in a closet somewhere? I can just imagine some family coming over and opening a closet door and there's 20 rakes inside.

I'm DYING that every time the camera comes back to you, there's more and more rakes each time. SUCH MAGNIFICENT TROLLING!!! It reminds of Whoopi Goldberg's last week on Hollywood Squares -- every time they came back to her, more and more of her "luggage" would appear in the square with her until at the end, you could barely see her. LOL

To explain, if Daniel is on "for doubles" is it in his interest to ensure there is a flop and could Phil be aware of that hence limp with 86o as its unlikely anyone will raise?

This is a good lesson is keeping cool when the pots get big. I tend to get scared off when things get crazy. In DN's spot I would likely call DW bet but *very* nervously. Remembering to play the strength of my hand. Antonius may be able to get me to fold on turn/river because I would conclude K9o or K9s. Good lesson. Thx! (Coming to CT soon?)

this is really a minor point but I do believe that some of the preflop decisions in Poker After Dark may have been definitely influenced by the flop props that they played (Ivey's 86) . But I know that Dan Polk is here to tell the poker how it is and I love it.

Genuine question. Could the way Dwan raised pre-flop and then c-bet on the flop have given the players even a little pause he might have had KK? Neither of them even blinked which could I suppose be due to Dwan being so loose but just curious - how might he have played KK differently to that?

For those of you not familiar with all the props these guys play on PAD and HSP, this may have something to do with the odd limping and the huge raise from Dwan. They have bets on what will come up on the flop so they will change their preflop strats to "encourage" the cards they do/do not want.
