I've always loved these older Jeeps. I really feel like the overall body design aged very well. I've been thinking of getting one of these and fully restoring it inside and out.
The only question I Have I why you have not taken off the plastic parts? It easy, you get cleaner paint and hit those plastics with burner before reinstalling - much cleaner job!
Do it man, I’ve had 2 so far and I’m 19. My advise is to buy a stock one. Yes they are more money but they aren’t ran through as bad and you know what’s done to it other than one with work done. Also watch a lot of videos on what to look for and stand clear of 2001 models as they may have the cracked head problem. Just watch Bella videos and you’ll learn in no time
This came out a lot better than I expected honestly! Looks much better than it did before. I might have put some body filler on that hood to even out the pitting, and done some trim restoration work but other than that, visually it's completely unrecognizable from what it was before. Great stuff!
Obviously a huge transformation here. Outstanding work. However I’m screaming at my phone hoping you sand and re-clear the taillights and corner lights to make the red and orange lenses pop with the fresh paint, especially that high-mount brake light. Trim restore on the door handles would have been icing on the cake.
its just amazing what you're able to do on a budget. I can only imagine what your builds are gonna look like if your budget was bigger. But ofc, stick to the budget builds cuz that is what this channel is for. The car community/youtube need more people like you to demonstrate that anybody can have a cool car on a budget and build them for fun!
I totally agree that this channel has set a good example in demonstrating that anyone can make what they got look good on s budget. Having grown up in Puerto Ricos strong car culture I would see this type of examples budget builds all the time. So it's great to see channels like this setting the example of what can be done to those that did not grow up around a good car culture.
They left out the cost of the spraying unit/compressor etc. I’d like to see this up close after 1 New Jersey winter….probably trashed with the super weak coating and lack of legit priming. The salt is gonna eat that thing
People always have something to complain about. For a 250 dollar paint job and new wheels/tires that thing looks amazing. Great job! I’d be happy with that ride with no complaints
My guy - I’m absolutely addicted to your channel. But for the love of god, please always use a mask when you’re using aerosols - as a cancer survivor, I’m worried about your health 🥺.
That Jeep came out so good, I am so impressed at the finished result, it shows that if you put some elbow grease and some time any project can come out looking that good. Great job as always.
I can't finish watching. It looks horrible even on my cellphone screen. Anyone commenting how great this paint job looks must be watching on a dial up fax machine. Maaco would have been a better route to take.
The factory black trim being painted over bugs me for some reason lol. Door panels and rear bumper covers are supposed to be black. I've restored them with heat guns, they do pretty well.
For a paint job done outside I must say it looks amazing. In my late teens my dad had a body shop where he did customizing, chop tops, custom paint jobs flame paint jobs. I loved being around that. For the brief time I got to experience it. I always regretted not pursuing being a painter or a body man. Great job though.
Good stuff. I hope some people aren't expecting close to perfect results on these budget builds because that would require more than a budget..lol You should've taken a wire brush against those drums and hubs. Then paint it black. But man, you still made a good difference for that jeep. God bless you man.
I remember I used to have that Jeep Cherokee, mine was a two-wheel drive into door and you hardly ever see those anymore. I was probably the only guy in town that had one but two doors in two-wheel drive. Unfortunately there are some electrical issues that involve the throttle position sensor and everytime I replaced it, it was never enough and it kept on giving me problems on the road, so I had no choice but to sell it and now I have a pickup truck. Glad the new owners that bought it from me actually did things to it I always wanted to do but could never do. I'm glad they sent me pictures as well as them taking it off road saying thank you.
My guy! Exactly what I was talking about in the last video! 🙌🏼 you crushed that paint and came out super clean. Major props. The whole build is fantastic. Looks nice, simple, and classy, with the most perfect wheel/tire setup 🤌🏼 love these videos and love what you’re doing for people out here man. I have a ton of respect for you because of it. Nice save on that XJ. I had a 98 that looked just like your finished project. Jeep cultists will be fighting over that in your front yard within half an hour if you decide to flip it. But in the alternative; if you dont mind 8-10 miles per gallon and want to drive through the apocalypse then keep it forever. Only thing you really need to worry about it is head gasket leading into the tranny, and the hood/roof paint baking itself off. And the door hinges...lol. Because the XJ platform really takes to DIY wrenching it can be really easy to bolt all sorts of shit on, so i recommend you define a stopping point unless youre already divorced:)
