From someone who uses firearms for his duty purposes and is constantly modding, buying and selling firearms, I can definitely throw in a tip. When utilizing a shell holder for a shotgun, generally speaking you never want to put the shells in from the bottom side in the holder, if you dictate battles in your head, the recoil of a shotgun and potentially throwing the shotgun around in a situation of home clearing or having to jump for cover or the such, can all make the shells fall out of the shell holder, regardless of how tight they are within it, I used the monstrum shell holder on a Mossberg 500 and demonstrated such failure. By putting the shells in from the top it not only secures the shells, but it already puts your thumb and pointer finger in the ready to load position instead of having to stick your thumb into the top and push the shell down and then grab to load. It saves literal seconds. Keeping it unloaded like you said can be essentially safe for children obviously, but I won’t unload my firearms. Someone can kick a door in first time kick and only give you like 10 seconds to realize and react. Id rather have the shotgun put under my pillow, on safe, and only loaded in the tube than to have it unloaded and sitting somewhere useless. Always treat firearms like they’re loaded and practice it. If someone “forgets” a gun could be loaded, thats someone who lacks practice.

Just use the Mossberg 500 heat shield and crimp it on to your barrel.
I've used pistol grip stocks for a while, do not treat it like a pistol, treat it like a rifle, let your shoulder, like a rifle, absorb the most of the recoil.
@@natedean5815 This one was also the cruiser/security (18.5" barrel) the action I needed was 7¾". As far as I know, those are getting very difficult to find and increasingly expensive. As a reference so you don't grossly overpay, I bought mine for $60.

I like the pistol grip and defense barrel for maneuvering but when i ran live fire drills, my accuracy sucked. Takes a lot of practice
Correct. This is because the Maverick 88 typically has an action slide that uses action bars that are molded into the plastic foregrip. Thus preventing any sort of swapping. If you simply disassemble the platform and replace the Maverick action assembly with a 7¾ slide tube (typically intended for Mossberg 500) in 12g of course, then you can utilize the Magpul forend on that new, replaced action tube. Without replacing that, you will not be able to use the Magpul forend on the Maverick 88.

I understand not keeping one In the chamber bc it’s a shotgun and there is no drop safety. However should at least keep it cruiser ready if it is for home defense.
I got mine at Sportsman's Warehouse. I believe the brand is Voodoo Tactical. I will warn though, it's a snug fit with all the upgrades I put on, and any optics you throw on are going to impede the functionality of the scabbard even further.
I spent like 30 minutes filing, then tried to fit it, and felt it was still too tight. Went at it for another 30 mins and was satisfied with the fit. Again, I highly suggest using a box or kiddie pool or tarp or *something* to catch the shavings and make clean-up easier.
Well, I already have fairly small hands as it is, so it doesn't take much to stop em. But that being said, the forend itself is already shaped and sloped to disuade the hand from progressing beyond the forend, so it could honestly be argued the hand-stop is unnecessary or even overkill. That said, I've since purchased an additional hand-stop and replaced the nub side with another horn-style stop, so whether for pulling or pushing, my hand is not leaving the forend during operation.
That foreign is also designed to keep your fingers from getting burned that's why it goes up so high see you technically wouldn't need a magpul for end and a heat shield. I left my stock for end on because I kind of like the way it looks and I added the heat shield. Mine is similar. It's a 20" barrel with a 7 round tube, Magpul stock, tactical scorpion gear side saddle, and I added a picatinny rail at the end of the magazine with an offset 18650 sofirn flashlight. The total package is not very expensive
Got mine in lin 2010 for $200 and it came with stock and pistol grip. Stock when shooting it and pistol grip when its under the bed. Ive shot 100s of 00 BK with the pistol grip on it, its not that bad.
I clicked the link for the magpul forend. The site says that the magul forend for the 590 isnt compatible with the mav 88. Is the forend for the 590 the one you have in the video? Thx
Yes. The Maverick 88 does not come stock with it's own action tube, but it does accept an action tube (for 500/590). To install the forend, you will first need to replace the existing forend with the 7¾" action tube. At that point, you'll be able to make the installation.
@@pigpaul Honestly can't remember exactly. Think it was some hex wrenches for the initial screws in the buttpad and then a long socket driver for the bolt holding it into the stock. But I couldn't recall which measurements.

Great video and love how you tricked out your 88! Looks too cool! I just got a HD 88 myself and wish I could trick it out like yours but I’d screw it up trying lol
It's really not all that hard. Just do your research and watch a bunch of UA-cam videos that explain how to install. There's no limit to the things you can learn watching UA-cam tutorials.
Nice job on the mods and video
Great video, but reversing the image always bakes my noodle. Thanks for sharing. Getting to work on my new Maverick today.
Reversing what image?
@@YamiadraDJ In the video I see the ejection port is on the left side of the receiver and the writing on the hat is backwards.
@@benitosalazar3749 Ah, yeah. It was filmed on a selfie camera of a phone. I didn't intentionally flip anything.
@@YamiadraDJ Ok. Still a good vid. Going to add that same heat shield and side saddle to mine. Thanks again.
nice maverick 88 looks badass
Thanks for showing off your loot drops
A few things for you. Nice upgrades to your shotgun! They look great. Stop putting yourself down! Everyone is better and smarter than they give themselves credit for. Learn to speak edifying words to yourself and about yourself. Reduce your cussing and you will get more subscribers.
What action tube did you use? Maverick looks great! Thanks
I understand not keeping one In the chamber bc it’s a shotgun and there is no drop safety. However should at least keep it cruiser ready if it is for home defense.
Best 88 I’ve ever seen very nice gun
Thanks!
Nice work man, looks good
A fine piece right there
I love my security model. Holds about 9 2 3/4 shells.
This guy is equipped to defend his moms basement and his Xbox
The dream, tbh
Good looking shotgun. Where can I get that case you store it in ?
I got mine at Sportsman's Warehouse. I believe the brand is Voodoo Tactical. I will warn though, it's a snug fit with all the upgrades I put on, and any optics you throw on are going to impede the functionality of the scabbard even further.
Very nice upgrades! Question: How much did you have to file the Magpul grip down? ( Tedious like alot or a little)?
I spent like 30 minutes filing, then tried to fit it, and felt it was still too tight. Went at it for another 30 mins and was satisfied with the fit.
Again, I highly suggest using a box or kiddie pool or tarp or *something* to catch the shavings and make clean-up easier.
Your foregrip hand stop is on the wrong side. It supposed to be on the end near the muzzle to keep your hand from slipping and blowing it off.
Thanks for the info. I have a stock Maverick needs work.
Good ideas.
Nice!!!! 😍 I gotta get me some magpul handstops. Love the video. 💯
That thing is bad ass
Most guns usually come out the box totally usable...
That is absolutely correct. No argument here.
I know dude's gotta get views, i have tried magpul on M88, truth be told she looks as pretty with stock stuff. Add a flashlight for sure
Question, with the Magpul SGA stock on the Maverick 88 can your remove the trigger group without loosening the Stock?
Why would you want to
Because removing the trigger group is the only way to disassemble the 88 to clean it.
@@ATS357 i don't clean guns
@@mrs.vasquezz I hope someone cleans them for you:)
@@ATS357 nopa
That foreign is also designed to keep your fingers from getting burned that's why it goes up so high see you technically wouldn't need a magpul for end and a heat shield. I left my stock for end on because I kind of like the way it looks and I added the heat shield. Mine is similar. It's a 20" barrel with a 7 round tube, Magpul stock, tactical scorpion gear side saddle, and I added a picatinny rail at the end of the magazine with an offset 18650 sofirn flashlight. The total package is not very expensive
How did you get the magpul forend on it? Because i know its not removable like the 500???
Everything is removable with the right attitude. 😉
But no yeah I had to completely dissasemble the weapon.
@@YamiadraDJ perfect! I understand now. Thank you. Im currently working on my own mav 88 build. This video was great.
@@losmoney82 Happy to hear it!
Brownells has anything you will need and explain it well on their site.
Beautiful
Thats how i want mines to be
Did you ever get a red dot or something for that rail?
I did try a micro red dot, but I didn't end up liking it.
Can you please say what the measurement what you need to take off the stock. Thanks.
I'm not sure what you're asking. Could you elaborate?
What tool did you use for the tools.
@@pigpaul Honestly can't remember exactly. Think it was some hex wrenches for the initial screws in the buttpad and then a long socket driver for the bolt holding it into the stock. But I couldn't recall which measurements.
Love it bro
Sweet 88 I want to get mine just like this one!
