To me, your channel is like finding treasure...WOW. Just awesome. I am speechless, and I have been a VH fan since 1978. I think Edward himself would be proud. :-)
Man I feel the same way. Been rocking Van Halen since seventh grade. In all the time since then I've seen lots of bands try and cover Van Halen, not one guitarist has done it like this in my opinion.
@@fullcontact5732 The Ragged Impresarios did a cover of this song. It was technically perfect and enjoyable to listen to. This guy made a few mistakes. He played behind and ahead several times. He hit the wrong note in a chord once or twice. Nevertheless, I enjoyed his version more than the other. The imperfections make it human and relatable. He's bold enough to try a song that flusters most guitarists. He does it better than EVH typically did it live. That's why you like it. That's why I like it.
@@timc3665 .... Actually I'm most impressed that he was this young when he was able to do this song. In the years since he's done lots of other Van Halen songs that are as perfect as you can get. Note for note and he gets the tone right.
Jacob - you are profoundly talented. I'm a 48 year-old playing guitar for over 25 years, but seeing the pure joy and natural abandon with which you play makes me want to grab my guitar, lock myself away, and play 12 hours a day. You are made for this, rock on.
I hope you're happy that you've completely destroyed my day at work - lol! I just found your channel last night and I cannot get enough of the VH, DLR centric, covers. To the point, both Little Guitars deliveries are spectacular. The initial ripping at 14 to selling with emotion on this one. Also, the "balance" in the Cathedral cover is brilliant. Bottom line, I'd pay $1,000.00 USD to spend the night on that couch with a keg of beer within arms reach to listen to you work live. Keep it up!!!
Seriously John? 1000$ US? Well let's plan something then lol. We will need that money soon to record a demo. Let's follow Jacob's career you will have plenty of occasions of investing money in him and maybe met each other. Jacob's father.
+sarah paxton The De"rips" family is in Quebec, Canada... So, they are far from neighbors (I'm in Arizona, USA). If the logistics were within reason, I was seriously going to take up conversation with Jacob's father to visit. I have play-listed all of Jacob's VH material and looped it during gatherings, card parties and related. Nobody that's been exposed sits still! The "Loss of Control" collab is killer! Merci beaucoup Jacob!
Still having a hard time with his loss. You make it easier, the excitement you have for the playing, the vibe, you really get it. There is only one EVH, your love for the music makes me and a lot of people feel a little better :)
Dude, you are awesome! I saw Van Halen play this song live back in 1983 and you play with the same youthful enthusiasm that Ed had back in those days.👍
So happy I stumbled onto your channel! You're jaw-dropping, amazingly good. Easily the best sound and overall feel for the songs you play of all. I can't say enough how impressive I find this and your other videos.
As a life long VH fan seeing someone play as good as you do it makes me hope with hard work and lots of practice, I can one day play as good ....great job and keep up the good work...
Dude! Just discovered you today and I AM WEARING THAT SHIRT RIGHT NOW! Got it at their 2015 show here in Houston, Tx Sept 15th! Slap hands slap hands lol. You nailed it!
King Edward dripped/drips melodic style phrasing! Geez, so many beautiful riffs, ie..Dance The Night Away, In A Simple Rhyme, Little Guitars, Women In Love, Secrets, etc...Jacob you're killin' on this my friend. Keep up the great riffing dude!
Having played guitar for over 20 years I have got to say. Kid you've got it. You my friend are AMAZING!!! There are many who can play but it sounds like they have stiff fingers. They have no feeling they just play notes. You do have feeling. It comes through in your playing. You can tell you're enjoying what you're doing.
GREAT playing! Your covers capture the feel of Eddie more than any others I have seen on UA-cam. Would love to see you cover "Push Comes To Shove", the quintessential EVH solo, IMO. Ignore the troll, as others have pointed out, Ed learned by playing Clapton note for note. Happy that you are getting support and I look forward to you growing and finding your own musical voice. Keep having fun.
Awesome as usual Mr Jacob. ........for the flamethrowers out there, lets not belittle Jacobs videos with negative comments about who is better than who. Please remember one thing, a quote I heard from Rob Halford of Judas Priest concerning peoples taste in music......."Shut up and enjoy the music!"......that is easy to do with Mr. Jacob playing............THANKS AGAIN!!!
Kidd! Been watching you for a while....JUST started 'commenting'.....ONLY cuz you're exceptional! Can't BELIEVE how you NAIL these VH songs...just saw a 'RATT' song you nailed to! ALL I'm waiting for IS? TO FIND a LED ZEPPELIN song for you to nail! THOSE guys are TRULY GODS! Nail 'Jimmy' and? Theres' NO ONE you can't NAIL! Which means!? TIME for YOU to go DO YOUR ORIGINAL MUSIC! YOU WILL BE A HUGE ROCK STAR, AND INDA 2010'S? A LONNNNNGGGG TIME OVERDUE! CUZ?? R and R NEVER DIED!
Fucking hell, you nailed it. That little room is too small to contain your huge sound. NOT an easy cover, and you made it look like Mary Had A Little Lamb...Liked and Subbed
Great Job! Can you do an instruction how to do the finger picking part? It looks like you do it exactly like EVH. Do you use the middle and ring finger as you go up the strings? Thank you
Jacob,.. awesome man. You've really mastered that wolfgang. Can you help,.. trying to find the VH backing tracks but so far have only found the Hal Leonard site with the 20 or so they have,... any more info you can provide? Thanks,.. much appreciated.
props to you dude. sounds great, it really does. Do you know why Eddie van halen became eddie van halen? Not because he became an excellent technician and practiced, practiced , practiced. He achieved greatness because he was able to imagine those hooks, and riffs, and melodies/ harmonies in his mind before he even tried them out on his guitar. You are young and have a bright future, but greatness lies in writing these songs, not learning them. Good Luck
Jason that was a fuking awesome job! I'm in my fifties I've been playing guitar since I was 16 and I've always loved Little Guitars . And I've heard a few guys playing on youtube, but man, you fuking killed it!...Can you tell me what time you used or where you got the exact notes?
yo, c'est qui qui t'a montré à jouer? t'as vraiment du talent. j'ai vu l'article dans le journal aujourd'hui je t'ai tout de suite checké sur UA-cam et j'ai simplement tombé par terre. Je suis fier d'être beauceron
Nice mate, you should do a cover of David Lee Roth's Little Ain't Enough, it has a cool riff and is speckled all the way through with killer Jason Becker fill-in licks. An ideal showcase for your talents. Sadly the album it is off, was one of the last productions Becker was involved in (as a guitarist) before ALS stole his ability to move.
I lov playing this your really good get more video.s out. Plz you jam good peaple need to listen to you cut loose and make a living out of it. I no u can do it. Prove mom and dad wrong in life. Edward will live in your fingers evertime u pick it up and play i miss him too a lot he.s gone now but he luves in your talent. Keep it play it. Enjoy your playing im watching you

hell yea man, you said it! rock on!
RIP Eddie
Amazing. Little Guitars has always been one of my favorite VH songs and you nailed it. Wow.
Now, Eddie is able to see just how special he really was because of people like you.
I hope you're happy that you've completely destroyed my day at work - lol! I just found your channel last night and I cannot get enough of the VH, DLR centric, covers. Have you tried the Friedman Brown Eye? It gives a great brown sound and just sounds great overall
Great Job! Can you do an instruction how to do the finger picking part? It looks like you do it exactly like EVH. Do you use the middle and ring finger as you go up the strings? Thank you
Awesome 👏🏽 one question , the intro ?
Hey Jacob, what's the right hand technique you are using when picking the chord melody?
Jacob,.. awesome man. You've really mastered that wolfgang. Can you help,.. trying to find the VH backing tracks but so far have only found the Hal Leonard site with the 20 or so they have,... any more info you can provide? Thanks,.. much appreciated.
💯
Your in a little room too👍🏻👍🏻🎸🎸
Nice.

that guitar can't keep up with you and you need to feel the song. hope 2023 finds you well! 👍

Can you make a complete music track for this song? I REALLY want to do a vocal cover.
I'll stop by and sing Dave's part if I'm ever in the area.
Jason that was a fuking awesome job!
I'm in my fifties I've been playing guitar since I was 16 and I've always loved Little Guitars .
And I've heard a few guys playing on youtube, but man, you fuking killed it!...Can you tell me what time you used or where you got the exact notes?

In the words of pedro- those are skills…
SOunds EXACT - GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Freakin' Great, I hope you don't bother if I ask what amp or pedals you use? xD
Great job as always. Did EVH play that song with a capo?
No he didn't, he played on a short scaled mini guitar so it has a different tuning that's why i had to use a capo.
Enjoy your playing im watching you
I think it was played on a short scale mini version of a Les Paul originally, hence the song title. It still sounds pretty accurate capoed though.
Exactly !
