This is the closest thing I have ever heard to Alex's tone. Actually it's not close at all. It IS his tone! And Jacob nailed it as usual. Just found your channel and I've binge watched the shit out of it. I'm loving the content.
Well, Alex was playing an electronic kit for this album, so getting his "tone" would not be difficult. Now Alex's "feel" is another thing. He definitely nails that.
It's just amazing how incredibly technically accurate Jacob is on every cover he plays. It's one thing to play the cords in time but to accurately incorporate every little nuance of the technical side is mind blowing. JACOB DERAPS is the greatest cover guitarist on planet earth. Best cover of the song. I'm 41 and listened to this song my whole life. The live without a net version by far the best. Eddie is running all over the place. Sammy is throwing banners over his head and he never misses a lick. At 1:40 of this song you can tell its not Eddie.
Great stuff! I head back every few years to watch this and his other videos. He’s a great player, and he found Eddie's tone, which many of us are still seeking. Let’s not forget Ed’s compositional skills with the guitar-on levels we haven’t yet seen in many modern players.
If you guys were really playing that, then it is the most incredible thing I've ever seen (and even if it is synced to 5150...well it's still incredible). I was about your age when 5150 came out, and when I saw them play it live at the LA Forum. I've played guitar for about 45 years, and I grew up on EVH... and I've never seen two people capture the essence of Eddie and Alex anywhere close to what I just watched. The attention to detail is phenomenal and refreshing. Well done is an understatement. If you believe in this sort of thing, Eddie is smiling at you guys right now. ;)
Canada and Australia between you guys when you recorded this and yet you are as tight as Van Halen themselves. Absolutely amazing guys. Eddie would be so proud. You give us hope for a new generation of rock music. Thank you! You're so talented!

There's tons of guys who can match EVH note for note, but few can also match the tone and feel. You are in this rare class. Very well done! It was just like listening to Alex and Eddie.
Jimmy Nielsen I think he started using a Black Beauty in the 90s, he used a Ludwig Supersensitive in the 70s and a Tama Rosewood in the 80s. You can see why his snare sound is so amazing! haha
Absolutely love both of those snares 😃 the Ludwig and the tama that is. I can clearly hear the sound is similar to the album. Well done to both that and the playing 😉
Love the entire song. REALLY love the recreation of Reverend Al's mega roll at the end! Gotta get those drums levitated and some pyro now! You guys rock! Let me know if you are looking for recommendations for the next tune!!
