Only a true music fan understands the genius of this song
Maybe even a little bit of a Genius. Dumb people don't like it.
@@popwarner8029 Haven't yet heard this song, but the pretentious and obnoxious attitude of music snobs is really unbearable sometimes. So far, I'm digging this song as I'm typing, but if people don't get into it, it does not mean they are dumb. People who think their preference of music makes them superior are hilariously obnoxious. How full of yourself can you really be? I wonder if you kiss yourself in the mirror, too.
The song is still awesome. No ammo for you. 🤷
I was waiting for Sammy to start singing. This was scary good.
Yeah me too! These guys are good! I wished they'd find a good bass player and a good vocalist and go on tour!
@@milehighgimpster they cant go on tour its up to wolfie and its not there music
I found myself filling in for Sammie 😂
@@randomperson-dv4jd people can play any music they want at a live venue, as long as the venue covers the copyrights.
i thought so too
My favorite Hangar era song. That solo! Wow. Great drumming. You guys killed it.
Everything is perfect in this 5150's version, from the search for the right drum sound to the guitar tone. All that's missing is Hagar's voice, and you've got it !
Truly incredible !! You and your mates have mastered the entire VH repertory to perfection.
Eddie must be proud of you, looking down on you from above!!!
Keep up the good work mates !
There is hope for the future of Rock and Roll!!! Nicely done Jacob and Josh!!! I was floored with the accuracy (especially the guitar solo), and the finale was hands down perfect!!! God bless these two young men for keeping this music alive and well. (and thanks to their parents for "proper" guidance)
Youre the only guys who can play it right. Even rarer a drummer
that can play and EXACTLY sound like Alex Van Halen!
This is the greatest riff in history. Can you do a lesson on how to play this whole song please?
Just superior. Satch who?! I love how Cosmo Kramer is in Mr. Gallagher's drum room!
Great job guys! Love to see the new generation carry the torch.. keep it up!
I have no idea how I got here but that was awesome. Yep had me singing too. Great job guys.
Back for the attack on my melting ears! This video is as incredibly entertaining as it sounds! Mighty Van Jammin'!
Wow, just wow !!!!
Great freakin job guys! Blew my mind!
Awesome job guys.
So good!
Fantastic.... Loved the ending
WOW!!! You guys are awesome!!! Killer guitar tone!!! And Killer drum tone!!!
This is one of my favorite VH songs. The timing and how crisp it sounds. What an awesome cover this is you guys rock!
Simply MIND BLOWN… you dudes need to teach JS and JB how it’s done. #5150Time 🤯🤯
My absolute favorite Van Halen song and you guys absolutely nailed it!
Sweet 🎸 🎶
Excellent !!!! All the way around, just stellar. Drummer has a good feel and is not playing unnecessarily hard. Props guys!
Boy you're great! You captured not only the technique of EVH, in the solo you expressed the intention behind, that's the difficult part to really catch a guitar solo. Amazing job Jacob!!
Better than the original !!
Both of you should be playing for Sammy's tour coming up, no one can play VH tunes like you two. VH4EVER!!! 5150...
You’re the only fucking one bro. The only one that got it right! A couple were in the wrong key, one was in slow no mode for a third of it then regular then slow again. Good to know you love it enough to respect it and do it right! 🙌🙌🙌
Hey Jacob. Hope you still read these things. l was just wondering if you and Josh had considered doing a cover for Peace of Mind by Boston? There aren't any great solos moments in the song but I think you could pull off a really nice remake.
Can't be just the amp - what are your FX? Best Sammy album, one of the best Sammy tunes! Summer Nights is also up there! "I'll meet you half the way"!
There's a doubling stereo effect I added from my BOSS BR1600 studio after the recording for the rhythm track and some reverb. The solo and outro part is just the amp with some reverb.
i also have the boss br1600. one of the best pieces of gear i ever bought. i love it!!!
Your right Andy, it isn't just his amp at all,, although its a very, very good one. So much of Jacobs sound is in his fingering and pick attack and his central nervous system. His sense of timing, pitch, and total attention to subtle detail, is completely flawless.
Wow
note for freekin note bud uuuu rock man!!
such a great and tough song to play. You guys crushed it and the subtleties!
hey youtube, turn off the dislike button right now! A masterpiece !
Fucking great guys. You guys are awesome!
Man I got my eyes wet watching this. This touched me, damm
Great
Video I am from Recife in Brazil South America, and I think your capability of imitating Eddy Van Haven is fantastic, could you imitate Allan Holdsworth tho?
when watching this video it feels like there is no band as good as Van Halen
gentleman...
1. absolutely fantastic work. i love this song. was at the Live without a net show.
2. guitar tone is great. at times it is near perfect 5150 album tone.
3. drumming is phenomenal.
thank you for sharing
Nobody can write riffs like EVH. A modern day Mozart.
The best
I know im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.

Thanks so much, you really help me out !
IT IS NOW......OFFICIALLY......5150 TIME!!!!
I was at the concert in New Haven back in 1986, and that could have been you guys on stage! That’s how great you sound here! Well done gentlemen!!!
Wow that is my favorite live album. I am jealous. Must have been surreal.
That's where they made the VCR tape.. new haven. Is now new
Halen.. I was at the meadowlands show.. jersey... Not far from Connecticut. But I remember that 5150!!!!!!!!! Hew haven... New Halen...fun concert 5150 was
That couldn’t have been them on stage because they weren’t born yet.
tell em bob
@@bobforpples No shit, Sherlock!
If I sat here and closed my eyes and just listened, I would swear i was listening to eddie and alex practicing. Amazing Job Jacob
I have my really expensive headphones on and the drums are mixed in the same microphone positions and stereo from one speaker to the other when he does a Tom roll in stereo from right to left like it supposed to on the actual 5150 album. The mix is identical on these headphones sounds exactly like it. I'm singing the vocals out loud by myself. FUckin doing "woo baby" in my bedroom
You are right dude 👍👍👍
The guitar is missing that midrange honk that EVH seemed to always have
Actually yes sounds good but guitar player is just a bit tense a n d tuning is throwing it a bit off and lastly his artificial harmonics are where? 😆
indeed But I still got to say EVH was classic Smooth effortless and never hit a bad note.
No one can ever level up to EVH.
Nice jam, good bar, night club action..
Somebody show this to Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony.
This is the closest thing I have ever heard to Alex's tone. Actually it's not close at all. It IS his tone! And Jacob nailed it as usual. Just found your channel and I've binge watched the shit out of it. I'm loving the content.
Jesus, both of these guys have got the sound and tone down perfectly not to even mention that they play it perfectly also.
Well, Alex was playing an electronic kit for this album, so getting his "tone" would not be difficult. Now Alex's "feel" is another thing. He definitely nails that.
Amazing drum tone and performance - it’s perfect - deraps is as good as it can get to Ed
So good it's almost stupid! That was simply amazing. Ed and Al and Josh and Jacob - WOW! The snare sound, kick drum sound and the guitar tone are just spot on.
There are a lot of Van Halen covers out there, but man this one really stands out. Flawless playing, flawless drumming, flawless tone.... Can't stop listening. Great job.
It's just amazing how incredibly technically accurate Jacob is on every cover he plays. It's one thing to play the cords in time but to accurately incorporate every little nuance of the technical side is mind blowing. JACOB DERAPS is the greatest cover guitarist on planet earth. There is no debate. There is no doubt whatsoever. Game, set, match people
AND SINGS! Thats the big ⚡BOOM⚡ to me!
bwm5150 says hi.
100 %
So cool. Would love to see you play Drop Dead Legs
jhep1 - oh hell yes!!! Maybe Hear About it Later too?
.....ah, what the heck, just cover all Van Halen songs, all 3 eras
I cant come up with words for this,,,,, I have “5150” tattooed on my arm, It has alot of meaning,,,, you fucking nailed this!!! Thanks for the good feeling!!!
I've loved Van Halen since I was little 、
38 years old now
Nostalgic and happy
Because Van Halen has been handed down forever
Moreover, because such a wonderful guitarist and drumer has been born.
Thanks
From japan
I'm no musician, but a lifelong VH fan and this is just stellar. Almost brought me to tears..
I hear u ! This was as soul matching rocking tribute as it could ever be
It did me , brother, I bought there first album, and was blown away, in the 70's , I can't believe it, he's gone and created, that brought it to REALITY for me and , I feel really sad for his son, U GUYS R AMAZING, !!!
I'm in tears as we speak.......
Jesus!!!! Jacob. That solo is so spot on its actually scary good!!!
Close your eyes and this is VH. Most people over look how important Alex's snare tone is. Absolutely great job guys.
Yeah, that's talent and thousands of hours of practice.
Excellent cover, greatly enjoyed it.
I've probably watched (listened to) this at least 50 times in the last month since discovering your channel... You fkn' Rock bro 🎸 Thank you for sharing this
You know I grew up on this shit, right? It warms the heart to see you kids playing it so f’cking well!!
buddy you sound EXACTLY like Eddie. Loved it. Drums Fantastic on point👍 I still remember the day I bought that album. Outstanding
Both of you nailed the tone. The VH brothers would be proud! (Well, probably not.. They'd be jealous!)
The VH brothers would probably sue for royalties.
hahahah is that thing from M. Anthony ? :D
I couldn't agree more. Tone and execution perfect.. I'm so used to Jacob's perfection that now I get just as fascinated with the tone! lol
Not sure why everyone can't respect this man's UA-cam video and take their cat fight to another forum.
Where'd that clown go? I can use some more fun.
Having the American flag in the background makes this video more awesome!! Great job!!
You guys are amazing thank you for your tribute. Eddie would be stoked and mesmerized.🤘🤘🤘🤘
Love seeing a younger generation appreciating VH, but this is inspiring. Is that a reissue Tama rosewood? I remember seeing a pdf thread on this.
Thanks! Not a reissue. The real deal! An original 1980 Tama Rosewood :D. Just like Alex used!
joshkosh95 funny, I have always thought that he used a black beauty snaredrum 😃
Jimmy Nielsen I think he started using a Black Beauty in the 90s, he used a Ludwig Supersensitive in the 70s and a Tama Rosewood in the 80s. You can see why his snare sound is so amazing! haha
Absolutely love both of those snares 😃 the Ludwig and the tama that is. I can clearly hear the sound is similar to the album. Well done to both that and the playing 😉
give the dope on turning...details...this is the BEST repro of his sound I ever heard
With youngsters still around like this today, there`s still hope for the rest of the world
to show a little heart with a smile. It just feels Great !
Flawless rendition by both Jacob and Josh. Takes one back instantly. Never stop guys
Awesome job Jacob! Josh really nailed the tone and mix, too! Your Germino is killah sounding! Did you really blast it on 10 for the recording???
Thanks Cary, it's always maxed!
There could be a way around the cranked volume. He could have the amp variac'd, so the tubes would still be grinding and pumping huge power out, but the amp would be a lot more tame in volume. Eddie used a variac himself for that purpose on his plexi. Or, Gemino lead '55 replicas have an optional master volume that you can purchase them with. Either way, that amp has monster tone and thanks to Jacob's videos it's next on my list!
Toms and Kick sounds are spot on... wow I think the kick is even tuned exactly... Kudos
The future of rock guitar is in good hands thanks to fantastic musicians like Jacob. This video makes me very happy....
Fuck me....I thought the guitar sound was awesome enough then he wheels out a drummer who's drums sound exactly the same as Alexs'...out of this world...
Its one of my favorite Van Hagar songs that gets very little play. Guys killed this!
absolutely fucking fantastic!!
Flawless, boys. Flawless.
Awesome guys !!! Van Halen site published that ! Amazing ! Congrats.
Wish there was a re-recorded version of both 5150 and OU812 albums with REAL drums and louder guitar in the mix.
This band is called head and shoulders
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun! Thanks for helping keep rock alive. Great job!
Wow man nice job. So good. Youve really got that Eddie feel dialed in the same goes for your drummer. His Alex tone and playing style is fantastic.
Love the entire song. REALLY love the recreation of Reverend Al's mega roll at the end! Gotta get those drums levitated and some pyro now! You guys rock! Let me know if you are looking for recommendations for the next tune!!
I don't know what talent I find more captivating, the guitar or drums! well done guys, brilliant + great 'Live Without A Net' ending.
In my opinion 5150 is the best Van Halen song with Sammy Hagar!
Me too. So many great songs with Sammy and Dave but 5150 tops it for me.
Yep have to agree. Aftershock a close second from the Sammy years.
5150, album and especially song, was peak Van Halen. Or should I say Van Hagar. That tone is vintage Brown Sound and sounds amazing!
That snare tone.... That guitar tone.... That cover! Awesome :D
I'd forgotten what a killer song this was until I stumbled across your video. Thanks for this, and for your awesome cover! And no disrespect to Sammy Hagar, but this song could easily stand alone as an instrumental.
You caught my eye or should I say ear some times ago. When I heard Eddy passed away You where the first person I thought about and that’s a compliment! I’ve been playing guitar for 3o years and you are crazy good. Eddy would be proud.
And yes drumming is bad ass as well!
VH should release their entire catalog instrumental. Would be dank!
My Dad is a huge fan. He says you guys nailed it. Thought he was actually listening to Alex and Eddie.
This is absolutely brilliant! It couldn't have been done better! Cheers! \m/
Do Black and Blue and How about Amsterdam?
FUCKING BEST COVER EVERRRR!!!!!!
BTW I liked the Alex Van Halen 'Live Without A Net" drum solo and outro. Well done.
The little smile Jacob gave at the 47 second mark is the pure expression of musical joy we all feel at that point of the song, brings tears to my eyes. Love to see this younger generation keeping the flame lit. Unbelievable cover. Spot on both of you guys. RIP EVH
that ending....wow..
Starts at 6:08 for anyone who wants to jump right to it.
Well, it's 2020 and I completely enjoyed it.
Hi. Great snare sound. How did you get the Alex sound? What heads did you use? How did you tune it? It's very dry, tight sound.
Just sick.....awesome job guys, yeah sammy and michael needed to come over to fill it in..... crazy to think Eddie frickin wrote that 36 years ago..damn.. Edward van beethoven
No way to do it better than this. Great work!
You guys are fucking awesome. I love watching every single video you put out. Keep up the freaking great work!
absolutely perfect we just need sammy hagar 89 japan singing over this. the drumming is to a T.
Okay, I vote Jacob as Eddie's replacement when Eddie kicks the bucket! Who's with me? We have a second motion. Those in favor for Jacob say aye....those oppose say no....the ayes have it unanimously...great job Jacob...see you in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in a couple of decades, Congratulations! Oh sorry Josh, you'll probably get the next round replacing Alex, nice work!
I think Ed would be proud ..I've seen your earlier vids so I know you've put a lot of work into becoming the musicians you've become ... Thanks
You are from Quebec, how amazing is that!!!!!!!
Awesome!!! That's my favorite Sammy era song too. Very well done guys!
I wish Van Halen's publicist knew about Jacob. Maybe they could get Roth or Sammy with Michael Anthony or Wolfie and Jacob and play a concert in honor of Eddie.
I wish I lived nextdoor to these guys.
To do what?
@@guardianobserver6593 To hear their guitars blasting and drums pounding duh.
