  • I worked on this Ficus burtt-davyi in July and then again in September. This video shows the progression over time. This tree was originally from Jim Smith's nursery in Florida. If anyone is not familiar with Jim Smith and is interested in tropical bonsai, it's definitely worth the google search.
This video is a bit long and the end result is not spectacular so if you're not really into bonsai and learning how and why others make decisions on future growth, this video might not be for you. I'm relatively open on why I make the decisions I make whether it's cutting back branches, repotting, or just letting them grow. I make these videos so others can get a perspective that I didn't get when first starting out. I'm certainly no bonsai master or anything approaching that level, but I always found it helpful to learn from others whether they are a beginners, intermediates, or masters like Jim Smith or Masahiko Kimura. Hopefully you pick up on some helpful tips and can glean some info or perspectives out of this video and others that I post. Thanks for watching!
