This is still correct in 2020 (mostly) the target shows up in blue on the navigation menu, best thing about this guide is the fly at slow speed part.

One of the updates I read this morning was that your targets might be traveling in supercruise so you may have to actually chase them down and interdict them.
Bromopar Aye, I've heard that too but not seen it as yet... I meant to mention it but I forgot.
It makes more sense if you meet your enemies that way I think. Plus it takes an extra level of commitment because now you HAVE to have a Frame shift interdictor if you want to go on these missions. My hope is that they will have scalable assassination missions as well. Not just Pirate lords in hopped up Anacondas but maybe some serious criminals in smaller ships as well like Asps, Vipers or Imperial Clippers.
Bromopar I imagine that's gonna be the way forward.

if anyone else has trouble finding a target, if you have searched and searched all contacts in the RIGHT system, don't waste any more time! go solo mode, try searching again. Good chance they will show up immediately. worked for me just now.

The unbelievable fact that this game has been disked for this long is pissing me off. I just started playing the game 10 days ago, And I have realized and dismayed it without a question it has to be the most unbelievable game ever created. But looking at an 8 year old video that I'm currently trying to do and the perfection for which all of the graphics still hold true is mine bottling Mindbling
Thanks!! But how do you deal with the contract updates where they tell you to let them escape? Do you just go to the known locations and find USS, and then just leave? Never got to finish as the contract expired :(

That bit where you said that "They'll be overhauling this in the months that follow and this may well be obsolete." Couldn't you have said that in the first 30 seconds? I want my six minutes back.
Did you know you can set the mouse wheel on the x52pro throttle to cycle through subsystems on a target? It makes targeting subsystems much easier.

CMDR outlandishPIXEL Aye, the main issue with it is the lack of jump range and the maneuverability... In every other respect the ship is a beast!
The red paint job definitely looks good on it too! Red paint makes ships go faster anyway.

Oh sweet Christ, I came here just to find tips for these missions, but now I learn they can get even worse by giving you several possible sectors instead of just the one?! Curious though, I have actually managed to find some of my targets in hyperdrive and interdicted them. Was there a change, or is just random chance that they will be available in either? I came here, because my strategy stopped working and my target was nowhere to be interdicted.

Nice video mate. Could you maybe do one about choosing combat loadouts for ships? With a particular focus on the Python if you can. I've just never really done much combat yet but I'm close to getting the Python.

i recently started playing. have yet to find any target im given. i usually check signal sources and find nothing. one time i even got blown to pieces even lol. is it possible that theyre in supercruise and im overlooking?

Shado Wolf i figured it out. you often find em in supercruise now. youll need an interdictor.
The original target not appearing is annoying as hell. Happened to me and the alt target was allied with my faction and worth next to nothing money. Wasted about an hour.

hi chaoswulf was wondering if you have ever had an issue with route plotting for delivery missions. my roommate and i have the xbox one version of elite dangerous. wondered of you had a suggestion regarding this. appreciate ur videos found them very helpful.

+Jason Chapman The main issue with delivery missions is that you're taking on cargo, this increases your ships mass and in turn reduces your total jump range... only treal way of dealing with it is so upgrade your frame shift drive
I would very much like to get this game but as my pc cant run elite im going to have to wait for the ps4 version, i don't think there would be very much difference between a ps4 and xbone version, i wish they could work on both versions instead of just working on the xbone version, console exclusives are stupid

It told me in the chat at the top left, though this isn't how the assassination missions work any longer since they can now be found in super cruise and at that point in the game's development, they couldn't.
I just got the game for XB1. Noob confusion here. Was that a real person you were contracted to assassinate? Or was that AI?
+Papo Papo It was an AI... a player will have a hollow icon on the radar and they always have the CMDR tag before their name :)

Darkfoin Foin I just un-selected the Anaconda as a target... Basically I was targeting nothing, so the weapons had nothing to track and reverted to their forward 'fixed' position.

I played this game for around 30 hours now and I did't manage to do one single bulletin board mission!!! And I'm not a bad Gamer! I' even managed to destroy a viper (Master) with a sidewinder without buying any new weapons! So you want to tell me I have to play 100 h so that i' have enough money to buy a new ship or new weapons?!!!
Well seeing as I've only been playing for 60 hours, and about 20 of them where cause I forgot to close the launcher, and I'm currently at 4 Mil, you're clearly doing something wrong.

The only way I could get any significant sum was by going into the resource extraction site in the Ra system. i found it axcidently and figured out that the low and hazardous are not good for making money either. Now i made around 6'000'000 Cr in 12 h. 😊 And i bought myself first an eagle and then a Viper MK IV
Marvin Schenker Nice dude! that's awesome, when you have that much money another good way to make more is buy a large ship with a lot of cargo, and run some quick trade routes for around 100,000 a jump.

I didn't realise you had to check out unidentified signal sources. I took up one assassination mission and was flying around for an hour waiting for my target to show up in contacts. I was even scanning every blasted ship while i was in super cruise.
Rather annoying because I never found my target and the mission was failed.....lol.
Don't take this video to heart any longer as the mechanics have been changed, the target could still be in one but most assassination missions are now on a clock where the target will be in the designated system for a set amount of time, from a certain time. You can then find them in supercruse and they will need to be interdicted.
figures......my interdiction skills are absolute zero...lol.
so far I'm zero for 30 attempts so I would totally suck as a pirate....lol.
this game is simply impossible. im trying to do an assassination contract and it only tells me the system. no locations no coordinates absolutely nothing. its like i have to scan every single ship in that system (lets just say a lot) this is fucking ridiculous!

Max Mustermann usually its just finding unknown sources but if they are kill missions like kill 29 pirates that im doing now you will have to just look at all signal sources (ive found weak ones to be best) for contact missions (not done many) i look at the nav beacon and search around there
+MagilianGaming Agreed. And this one pays well (43,371 CR).. if only I can find the guy!! Sick of looking hours on a wild goose chase, when I could be doing something more fun (a delivery mission).

Check your contact list in super cruse... They fly around and are sometimes in wings.

Is this info still valid?
No, unless the mission specifies a USS, then they are likely to be in Supercruse, best thing to do is scan the local NAV beacon or ping the discovery scanner, the game will alert you when the target has been detected.

No big surprise, this is totally out of date now that this process has changed entirely.
2 hours searching for some stupid sh*p to do a few pew pew and fly back to return the mission for another half an hour. This genuinely feels like one of the most boring and time wasting games I've ever played. One step from uninstalling it 😀

I hate this game! It is so depressing and buggy! Every unidentified Signalsource i go in there are only Lawless Masters that kill me a few seconds after i droped out of hyperspace! Bountyhunting is as boring as buying cargo and selling it somewhere else, because you have to fly around and wait until this stupid game is so kind to give you a unidentified signal source! So I need 5 min to go into a unidentified signal source and out again (as long as my ship is still alive after that) and then fly around in hyperspace waiting for an other unidentified signalsource! Are these stupid developers kidding me?! Why cant they just tell me where to go?!!!! The Galaxy and the solar systems are still big enough, even if they tell where to go to do the missions!
