Imagine being an explorer, and you find a good planet 4k or more light years out. Your ship is a bit damaged and your AFM is out of ammo. You could land and scavenge around for some materials to refill your AFM, and who knows you might find something for an FSD boost as well to get you a bit further. This will certainly make exploring so much more fun, and just the thought of such an adventure gets me excited.
Thanks. I've been away from the game awhile and knew you could view a list of the materials after you shot the resources, but couldn't remember how. Yours is the only video that pointed out how.
Thanks for the clear explanation of the radar, now I can complete my missions, I just got Horizons, and have done my 1st planetry landing but have been going around in circles as I have taken 3 missions for what seems to be 3 parts of the same crash site, but my left panel seems stuck on the navigation tab, so cannot select the next site, at least now I know how to use the radar to find the rest of the wreckage...
Great and informative vid :) + Not 100% sure on this but someone said in the forums that the contacts that appear towards the top of the scanner are manmade/artificial objects, the ones that show in the lower part of the scanner are minerals/meteorites and other natural stuff.
So the ability to craft ammo would be nice for deep space exploration and Thargoid encounters if they are ever added.Which would be a very welcome addition.
Thanks, Chaos I'v learned more in this video than in 15 others. One question thou, you show what you can do with the rocks or fragments of Materials with the SRV or with it on the ship. What if I don't want to do any of that, I just want to bring those rocks back home. How do I put the material collected with the SRV into the Ship's cargo hold? Tnx as always Chaos
+Bernard Saavedra The materials don't go into the cargo hold... they go into material storage that's bound to your account not a ship... so you always have it with you
Thanks for another great video. :) If you synthesize FSD injection, are you able to store it and use it when you need it or do you have to use it the next time you jump?
I don't believe so. I think when you synthesize it, it is already injected and will be used with the next jump (I think you have to enable fsd boost in the galaxy map
You have to go to your Galaxy Map and check a specific box on the left regarding jump options. Fastest route, most economic, etc. And just below this there's a "Use Boost" something or other tab which can be ticked. That's the only way to use it.
What I would like to know, and what this video does not seem to answer (there may be no answer, as far as I know, but its driving me MAD) is why scope will flash from time to time. LIttle white dots that I think are about to resolve into a targetable but only disapear. Whats more is that sometimes these little flashes are bigger or smaller than others. Soemtimes I will see two or more on the screen. Surely you have seen what I am talking about? Are these just...I dunno..sensor glitches? Or are they pointers to sometihng Im missing?
Can we trade this? Or are they making us look for them from day 1? Also, is the frequency and diversity of the materials available ensured on high metal worlds, or will we have to to scan both rocky, ice and metal worlds to get everything we need. This could get tricky as you might run out of enough stuff to repair an SRV just by going on one such planet which would make things quite difficult. I''m curious how would we be able to use this during long run exploration missions. It basically allows you to refuel AFM and basically extend your journey to as long as you can keep your hull above 1%. Planning internal compartiment use for such journey changes significantly.
golan you could also have more than 1 SRV in the bay. But what do you need to be banging an SRV up for on an exploration trip? I'd think you'd only really need a fuel scoop and a ship with a massive jump range, right?
I've. been driving round a planet for hours and haven't seen a single targetable rock. I'm heading towards anything that glows on the damn radar and still nothing any hints?
All the planetside materials videos show how to use the SRV scanner, none shows WHERE and HOW one find the actual mineral deposits from the air ? When in my ship I fly at 2,5km altitude, then when there is blue area on panel map, land, deploy SRV then drive around for hours without seeing any rocks to shoot. How does one find mineral sites from the ship ? I wasted tens of hours of my life in SRV looking for rocks to target an shoot.
+Sam Pretty FD did confirm there being more than one type of SRV, but there will only be the Scarab on 2.0 launch. I expect there to be more of them as Season 2 progresses. Think of the Scarab as the Sidewinder of SRV's :)
+Sam Pretty I suspect that each new SRV will have certain specializations-one for cargo carrying, one for combat, one for infiltration.....as an example.
+Don LaByer Same way you do in a ship... drop your cargo scoop and drive over it... You may have to bind the key again as they are separate to she ship controls
wow all that trouble just to make a bit of ammo or weps when you can just buy them, I don't look for fights so don't need it. I was hoping for more from the planet side experience for non-war activities. good video.
I didn't, just landed randomly and went off in a random direction, the game will spawn things as you go. Or at least it did last time I played... which was a good few years ago now.
So boring and tedious to do still. Driver forever through an empty area, shoot it. Target 1 piece, drive over it, reverse, target next and so on... Really shitty feature.
No... it isn´t, the time spent on planets for get a few materials is insane. A stupid mechanich as coordinates system, you have the technology for travel 45 years light in one second and you can´t put in the surface map of a moon a coordinate for get it in a easier way?
It also is forcing me to do things I never would have done otherwise. Like explore a planets surface for Cadmium. Kinda grindy, but also making me earn that upgrade while seeing things I've never seen before. It's a mixed bag, really. Would you prefer a Pay to Win model? I think most people would spend money and get bored faster.

The first set of Horizons videos i've found that actually tell you more than "oh, you can land on stuff"! Very informative, thanks!

Warthone1 Thargoids ARE HERE.
Opinions?
Your dreams come true
Warthone1 Ha your wish has been granted

Very useful Commander, thanks or taking the time.

soddof bump ^
thanks for explaining
Great vid, very helpful and well-explained.

Grové Erasmus is that even possible?
I thought you just had to drive around and look.
Cheers mate! Very informative, as always :)
Appreciate it Chaos 👈 this 2015 video clicked for me 💥 and got my first big haul 🚛 liked and subscribed 🍄
Happy to help.
Great tutorial, many thanks.
are the yellow pixels that appear from time to time a feature of the map
Great vid I just was wondering if any word on when horizons comes out for xbox box one and do we get the 1.5 update on the 15
+ChArles Saylor I don't really know... I have heard whisperings that it may not make it to consoles due to hardware limitations but I'm not sure.
+Commander ChaosWulff No, you're thinking of the Mac. The whisper I have heard is that Xbox release is January 2016.
Its close I think because they already got orbital crusie in game I can hope
It's out now
+ChaosWulff do the materials gathered with your SRV affect the cargo space or do they have a seperate storage, also can these be sold in stations?
No, the materials gathered for Engineers/synthesis take up a storage area separate of cargo and which is bound to your account rather than your ship.
Excellent, thank you for clearing that up for me
you got a typo in your description
"Pre-Order Hprozons:"
Will they be introducing other types of SRV,s ?
+Sam Pretty FD did confirm there being more than one type of SRV, but there will only be the Scarab on 2.0 launch. I expect there to be more of them as Season 2 progresses. Think of the Scarab as the Sidewinder of SRV's :)
Ah glad to hear that, was hoping there would be than one variant of the SRV.
+Sam Pretty I suspect that each new SRV will have certain specializations-one for cargo carrying, one for combat, one for infiltration.....as an example.
Lmao reading this 2 years later and there’s still only the scarab
Ya fucking hell.
awesome :o i thought that thing is just there to look cool guess i'll be looking for material for a while :3
Crafting only applies to the ship you're in, or can you craft in station to?
not sure what you mean.
only in the ship your in, you can perform the action anywhere but yeah, in your ship or srv.
How do you pick up a canister with the SRV?
+Don LaByer Same way you do in a ship... drop your cargo scoop and drive over it... You may have to bind the key again as they are separate to she ship controls
Great vid, cheers CW
should i buy into the beta thats the big question :D
What Beta?
Thx a lot!
wow all that trouble just to make a bit of ammo or weps when you can just buy them, I don't look for fights so don't need it. I was hoping for more from the planet side experience for non-war activities. good video.
+Skymax the main non-combat things you can do with this is FSD boosts they allow you to boost your jump range by increments of 25%, 50% & 100%
You also use the materials to upgrade your ship via engineers.
thanks keep up good work I can only hopr
Thanks for the info
How do you know where to land?
I didn't, just landed randomly and went off in a random direction, the game will spawn things as you go.
Or at least it did last time I played... which was a good few years ago now.
Radar, in what year is this? lol
It annoys me greatly that the SRV tutorial in game goes over none of this.
this seems infinitely tedious.
great explanation tough.
helped a lot thank tou =)

So boring and tedious to do still. Driver forever through an empty area, shoot it. Target 1 piece, drive over it, reverse, target next and so on...
Really shitty feature.
2nd :D
+BenTh3reDoneThat Nope, your first buddy
the engineer crafting system is absolute bullshit, and it's ruining the game.
I think it's great fun.

you are right, i hope they make it exploring and searching for materials more fun. currently its more like punishing.
Long winded and verbose. The whole thing was improvised. 15 minutes to give a paragraph worth of information.
blablabla blablabla...
Blablabla blablabla!
