    The way we make sense of our world today is through BORDERS. It's also the way in which we are able to govern our societies.
    In today's video, join me as I tell you about some of the world's most bizarre borders which will leave you scratching your head!!
    NORTH KOREA v. SOUTH KOREA
    KALININGRAD, RUSSIA v. EUROPEAN UNION
    AZERBAIJAN v. NAGORNO-KARABAKH
    THE DIOMEDE ISLANDS: RUSSIA v. USA
    ANTARCTICA
    If you ask me, borders (in general) are a strange concept. Like hundreds of years ago, the notion of creating an imaginary line that separates human beings from one territory to another is weird -- and today, it seems as if borders are permanent. What are your thoughts on borders?

    Drew, watching this video today, I find it amazing that you've documented the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in view of the most recent events down there. You've mentioned the disputed Karabagh and the Artsakh. It reveals an honest work on your part and a will to go deep in the subject. It shows you really enjoy travelling and most of all learning as much as you can about the countries you visit (but this shows in pretty much all of your videos).
    So thanks a lot for that, it is highly valued by travel aficionados, especially in this period where movements are restricted... we kinda travel with you. Keep up the good work and I hope you manage to visit all 197 countries very soon !

    • @maximillianafrancine1451
      @maximillianafrancine1451 4 роки тому +1

      @Baby Kimi Hi. Not really. I did a lot of African history and there is a period called the 'Partition of Africa' and you can probably Google the 'Berlin Conference'. So basically different parts of Africa were just randomly shared by European nations and then shared again when Germany lost the war. So like Nigeria used to be Nigeria and the Camerouns. Parts of Togo used to belong to Germany and all over the continent stuff like that. Then there werw the empires and trading that used to go on way back then so that the Jollof Rice that is the subject of the jollof wars between Ghana and Nigeria is actually the main dish of the Wolof people of Senegal who purportedly are cousins of the Yorubas, who are the jollof rice kings in Nigeria and truly weird connections but which boil down to people actually are often the same group but in different countries. So for instance almost all Camerounions from Bakassi get free college education in Nigeria cos they have absolutely the same names as the Bakassi people in Nigeria. Then the Senegalese in the Casamance, Gambians and parts of Guinea Bissau are the same people but in 3 different countries. Can't really help with the YT channels though but amy good history of Africa will lay this out.

Teaching English and being a trained Chef.
    You are doing great my friend, the straight forward way you are introducing the different cultures in different countries, traveling with Ringo Star"s "Peace" motto, highlighting what matters for those people, the hints you give to those traveling there. You should talk about the border between Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. They have a triple-sided bench which each side of the bench is part of the country so you can sit in the middle of the bench and be in 3 countries at the same time.
