Just out of curiosity, your attitude towards China and it's people changed a lot from what you used to have (basically more positive and more optimistic), what's the cause. Did you got offended by the local gov or you got kicked out of China?

@@luezio8914 China's attitude towards foreigners has drastically changed recently and state condoned attacks, doxxing and harassment have led to Chinese 50 cent nationalists attacking my wife and trying to get her fired and arrested (just because she's my wife) attacks against my parents and even random cousins, doxxing my parents, swatting attempts, all sorts of nonsense simply because I have an opinion that doesn't gel with their force fed one. I realized just how sick certain parts of Chinese society are as a result of these relentless attacks and so will now discuss and explain why these happen. I hope to enlighten people through my experiences and help them understand why it is that Modern China is closing up and behaving the way it is.
My Taiwan story (my mother is from Taiwan, so I do speak the language). A few years back, I traveled to Taiwan on my own. I was on my way somewhere and had gotten on the wrong bus. I told the bus driver about it and asked him what alternate route I should take to get to my destination. He told me to sit back and wait a second. While I waited, the driver spoke to another bus driver via his radio intercom thingy, then announced over the loudspeaker "young lad, I'm going to pull over at the next stop. I told the other bus driver (the one driving the bus to your destination) to wait at the next stop for me to catch up to let you transfer to his bus". I was in awe over his actions, and still grateful to this day. He actively went out of his way to ensure I got to where I was heading, and props to the other bus driver for cooperating as well. Taiwan No. 1
It was on March 13th, 2011, I was in Taipei on business and I had to return to Japan as big disaster in Northern Japan on March 11th, 2011. I took a taxi from the hotel to the airport in Taipei 松山空港, the taxi driver asked me if I am Japanese, and I said ,yes, then the taxi driver told me no pay is necessary as Japan is now big disaster. My eyes were a full of tears. I never forget about this tax driver and Taiwan people. Someday, I will reciprocate for Taiwan.
Mickey Takahashi during WW2 many Japanese soldiers were killed in China but the soldiers’ children they left behind were fostered by Chinese parents. Now the once Japanese children loved their China parents different from what you think.
Mickey Takahashi Thanks. You say that now . Taiwan is still weak that you can bully but not China. We welcome you to enjoy what you can in China during your stay. But you have to pay. Japanese can kick the statue of comfort women in Taiwan. But you can’t do that in China. The time is no more WW2. Not even your Abe. However we like Abe more than you.
Ive been to Taiwan and they are so friendly. An elderly lady in her 80's helped my gf and I take the right train at the right platform. She waited the whole time with us till we took the train safely. I will never forget that moment.
Idk man, it’s a thing we do I guess. I’ve done that many times when foreigners ask for directions. If I’m not in a rush, I’ll probably take the bus or MRT to the station with them. In my opinion I just hate being lost in a completely foreign place, and I don’t want people to feel that way in my country.
I seriously don't understand this. I hear this ALL THE TIME, but I've been in Taiwan for nearly ten years and only see pushy rude people. People getting in front of me, cutting in front of me to get onto the train or elevator, being completely ignored when I try to get someone's attention, being interrupted whenever I speak by the majority of people, particularly older people who believe they are gods over you because they take the "respect your elders" thing to a whole new level and they think they can just do whatever they want... Go buy something. The dickhead behind you will physically press up against you half the time and will push you out of the way the MOMENT he or she thinks you're done (when you're still being handed your change and haven't put anything away yet). Go ask for help. Majority of people pretend they can't understand my Chinese. People closer to me insist that my pronunciation is really clear and accurate... I have no idea if this is true though, because I think due to my face, people just don't bother listening to me. The rest of them just act like I don't exist at all. People tell me I look like a ghost all the time. Good job, you racist fucks. People park their scooters in the center of the sidewalk. People check their phones in the narrowest walkways, and pretend not to notice you when you need to get by them. People DON'T SMILE. People get upset with me when I SMILE. I swear I'm in a different Taiwan than any of you are. I really hate it here. If I didn't have some things tying me here I would have been gone so long ago. Whenever I complain they say "go to China and you'll see how great we are". Oh shut up. It doesn't matter how good or bad China is, when there are problems HERE. I like a lot of the food here. That's about it. The people are uneducated and rude, and the environment sucks. Trash on the ground. Open air sewers. No trees. Crap.
I would love to visit. Even booked everything but could not go because of corona and went to thailand instead 🥺 you know if they will open soon? I'm swiss
One thing I think you've missed is that Taiwan is the ultimate refutation of the CPC's assertions that democracy isn't compatible with Chinese culture. It is a modern, prosperous, well-educated and wealthy country. Everything China could have been had Mao not seized power.
@Indian Stars Agreed. Don't forget Singapore, probably the wealthiest country in Asia. You could probably count Malaysia as well, though it seems to be more of a mixed bag.
@Indian Stars Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan used to lead by authotarian government which make economic policy could run pretty well. When, they have been pretty developed, they started to adopt more free and democratic politic which would be the case in China when their civilians become well educated
@Indian Stars managing 1.4 billion people isn't the same as 50 million people....I mean just look at India, they had a bunch of smart people and potential but their economy are still lacking off
@Indian Stars Actually China is very developed. With one of the best infrastructure in the world, a very high PPP, the worlds second largest GDP, the third most powerful military, and one of the most trusted governments, I'd say that it's pretty developed. And Hong Kong is owned by China
It's literally Cain and Able thought patterns. Cain (China) sees Able (Taiwan) as a constant painful reminder of what they could be like, but fail to be, which generates murderous levels of resentment and antipathy.
You westerners really should try to stop being narcissist for a minute, almost nobody in China think democracy is any better system. At least now you can stop to think for a while after your Trump-Biden presidential debate kindergarten sh*t show. And by the way, Taiwan is way ahead of you in this election sh*t farce: while Trump and Biden sort to lies and constant interruptions, the Taiwanese have already started to use fists and shoe-fighting in their so-called Congress election decades ago

Once upon a hot summer at noon in Taiwan, I was asking for direction, the lady said it's too hot to walk for 10 min. She took me there by her motorcycle.

I helped a Taiwanese family find there way to the train station here in Tokyo a few years back. The father approached me on the street and asked if I could tell them where the station was, I was headed there anyways and told them I would walk them there. We had a nice chat in English as we walked, as we parted I asked where they were from. He smiled and said “from Taiwan, we are not Chinese” I laughed and said I figured as much because of how polite he was.
I would love to go to Tokyo!! Queen, my favorite British rock band, always visited Tokyo, and they learned how to speak Japanese because they loved it so much and they spent so much time there. My dad’s best friend is an engineer originally from Scotland and he was working here in America when he met my dad and then he got transferred to Taiwan. That’s where he met his beautiful, sweet wife.!!❤
No, Taiwan is the example why socialism is a superior system. Taiwan is a shithole. There are 3 million Taiwanese currently living in China. Where there only few mainlanders live in Taiwan .why Taiwan is better when Taiwanese people try so hard to come to china?
You must be some foreigners frm , America or europe.most Hong Kong and Taiwan people only respect and favour those kind of people's 🙊it's my experience.they don't respect others people.chines frm Shanghai and Chinese who living in foreigners country are very nice, kind hearts, help ful, selfless , respect to others & not greedy.its my experience.
Taiwanese people are much warmer than mainlanders, friendly, not suspicious, and soft, expressive faces. Ive worked with quite a few of each. Not at all similar.
As a kid growing up in S. Korea in the 70's, I always thought China was ROC whereas China was referred to as "Red China (中共)", a different country indeed. But as the world slowly broke away from Taiwan, ROC, Korea became one of the countries that followed the suit. My father used to travel a lot to Taiwan in the 70s and 80s, he never took home any bad memories about the people and the country. Then China opened up. He also traveled quite extensively in China and all the horror stories that he brought as a news were quite startling, sort of like the stories the serpentza talked about. I agree because of the fact that Mao destroyed the tradition of China, the goodness that the Chinese culture inherently had seemed to be preserved well in Taiwan. It is not part of China. Taiwan has its own fully functioning democratic government and military. One thing that's kind of lacking is the diplomatic recognition that it has lost over the years. Taiwan seems to me is a true China in its way it has preserved the traditional culture and education.
Most countries that switched their recognition from the ROC to the PRC still have "unoffical" diplomatic relations with Taiwan. In the US we offcially don't recognize Taiwan but there are in reality extensive contacts between the ROC and the US government. We just have to pretend they don't exist so the PRC doesn't throw a temper tantrum.
The description of how helpful Taiwanese people are really speaks to me. I had a job teaching English in Taiwan for a while, and had many experiences of people going out of their way to help me, just because I looked like I needed it. My first time using the trains there, I was feeling lost and confused, but a girl walked up, spoke English, and helped get me to the right platform. Another time, my scooter broke down on the side of the road, and a man who didn't speak English stopped, checked it out, and helped me get to the next town. Not everyone is a saint, of course, but an overwhelming majority of the people I encountered were friendly and helpful. It really made me love the place.
One of my friends, who is from Taiwan, stated that most of the people that moved there during and after the war were lower-to-upper middle class people and there wasn't as many of the "big names" (as he called them) that came over. So, you have a country that is formed mostly of people that were upper-middle class at best, didn't want to be a part of the country that was forming on the mainland, and often were people that didn't want to be "classical" Chinese in a lot of ways. The mentality is a LOT different.
That isn't accurate in the slightest. Look up Waishengren. A lot of the people that left communist China were obviously businessmen and people who had the money to leave. I don't know why your friend told you this.

Taiwan is exactly that, the true Chinese people. They carried on the values, culture and customs of their people while China destroyed thousands of years of history and brainwashed their people all the while creating more poverty and despair. I travelled in both Taiwan and China and studied in Taiwan, in the 90's. While in China, I never did feel the rich history of this country and culture. Only in Taiwan did I learn and appreciate the customs of the Chinese. If you ever want to truly understand the culture of the Chinese, do yourself a favor and go see Taiwan
I am Chinese and I like my country because it gave me work and gave me a lot of knowledge. I do n’t understand why China is afraid of Taiwan. Taiwan just wants to be emperor. Although Mao Zedong did have a mistake, he did not have him. And how could there be China with the second GDP now? On holiday in Taiwan I left my prescription Raybans on the Taipei metro which we took for a trip to the zoo. I was so annoyed with myself, it almost ruined the day. Then much later in the day on the way back to the apartment I thought 'what the heck, might as well ask one of the metro help desks'. After a few calls the guy behind the desk said he found them(!) and drew me a map of how to get to the station that was holding them, and sure enough they were there! It was such a relief and testament to the honesty and helpfulness of the people. I will never forget it. Thank you Taiwan! (the sight seeing was great too by the way. I recommend taking a train down the east coast)
No need to take something that doesn’t belong to you, because the person who lost it must be really worried! We do not want to see that happen to anybody. So it is our obligation to return it and hopefully it can be reunited with whoever lost it. That’s the mentality here. Simple and straightforward.

When I lived in Japan, it was so easy to spot Chinese tourists because they were being rude and loud. Also, their children cry and make noise. I don’t know how the Japanese do it, but their children are so quiet, almost never ever cry and have never seen a toddler having a meltdown. The English can be quite loud. Taiwan sounds exactly like Japan. Interestingly, Japan and Taiwan get on very well together, and tourism between the two countries has been strong for many years.
I was transferring planes from Japan to Taiwan years ago, asking for help to find a restroom at Osaka Airport. An airport security guard walk me all the way to the restroom.
Thanks for the video. "Mainland China" is a bothersome term. Taiwan is not China, neither should be Hong Kong, Nepal, Tibet and other countries that "Mainland China" took by force. CCP needs to be shunned by all countries of the world . . . .
I stayed in Taiwan for four days (in Taipei) and I was IN LOVE WITH IT! The people were nice, the food was good, it was inexpensive, and it was overall fun! My ONLY complaint is it gets super humid in the summer but other than that, I LOVED it in Taiwan! I'd probably move there if I could, no lie! Taiwan started COVID-19 prevention measures AS EARLY AS the evening of DECEMBER 31 last year by screening passengers from Wuhan, and sent an inquiry email to the WHO, which did not care. (Otherwise the rest of the world could be saved to some extent.) What was the Chinese Communist Party doing then? Silencing doctors, without even screening and protecting its Chinese citizens.
michel Guevara Youre right - taiwan has also managed to keep chinese culture, literature, traditional language, and artifacts while it was almost wiped out in China
It's because Taiwan is the world's best kept secret, even right now they're the most successful country in containing corona, because they're also one of the most independent and listen to their own gut before all, my last video was coincidentally also about why Taiwan was so successful as a nation, and these last couple months really shows!!
From an article that I read, Taiwan's success in containing the coronavirus is in part due to the fact that since they are excluded from the WHO, therefore they are forced to make their own decisions and preparations in case of a potential disease outbreak. They do have their own stockpiles of supplies and emergency plans in order to stop a disease such as COVID 19 and get the information public as quickly as possible. Before the WHO even declared a pandemic, Taiwan was already busy taking action, closing down schools and enforcing other public sanitation measures. While countries such as the USA, Italy, and Spain are faced with a disastrous situation, and the mainland has managed to almost nearly get the local situation under control, the people of Taiwan are already back to a semi-normal life, with local statistics showing the lowest infection and death rates from COVID 19 in east Asia, all because the government knows they're pretty much on their own in a situation like this and they have no margin for error if they want to keep their population safe.
@@kevinsjournal Its also because of the SARs outbreak Taiwan was one of the nations devastated by it at the time and so Taiwan didn't want to repeat that.
Taiwan’s society is an amazing blend of diversified cultures and ethnic groups: Up to 16 indigenous peoples; Chinese culture (the only country using traditional Chinese characters); Japanese culture and heritage; new immigrants from Southeast Asia; and westerns values: democracy, of course, with even same-sex marriage legalized in 2019
@Central Intelligence Agency Well... It naturally happens, but Taiwan is actively protecting (traditional)Chinese culture, as well as Pluralism. Fascinating, I know.
I lived in Taiwan for over ten years. My wife is Taiwanese. Most Taiwanese just want China to leave them alone. They want to be recognized as their own country-Taiwan. Many think it is unfortunate that they have to use the official name, the Republic of China, which the nationalists forced in them after ww2.
The mainlanders are in the minority. The majority identify as Taiwanese. As far as the name “Republic of China” this is because Chiang Kai-Shek was stubborn. When the UN finally decided to give the China seat to the PRC, he was given an option for Taiwan to stay in the UN under a different name. He could have chosen Taiwan but he refused. He insisted that he was the legitimate ruler of all China and would not accept a seat in the UN under any other name.
@AlexNOSAM Actually you are right, these two are different but apply to the same thing, which is China wants to take back what was stolen by no matter Japanese or any other party. The reason for the current special circumstance of Taiwan is because of the Chinese civil war, by definition, it has never been a foreign affair, that is the reason you have MAC to deal with the mainland, not the ministry of foreign affairs. Between countries or this case country and island, the only rule that matters is the rule of the jungle. Taiwan can dislike it as much as it wants, it will become a part of China.
@@Kailiu323 Blaming Japanese is just an excuse for China. Japanese didn't steal Taiwan. In fact, China GIVE it to Japan and China did sign the contract with it. After that, even Japan lose WWII, the Allies decided to let the KMT military to manage Taiwan. That means China had never get Taiwan back since they give it to Japan. It's not about whether Taiwanese like it or not, but historical truth. Just admit it, Taiwan and China are different and politically unrelated now.
In my generation of Taiwanese really just identify ourselves as Taiwanese. We would really appreciate if this can be recognised by our foreign friends who had lovely experience while visiting Taiwan.

I've watched nearly all of your videos, starting from the time you began your motorcycle roadtrips with your friend, and enjoyed every minute of it. I watched you grow from a boy to a mature man. But this podcast may be my favorite one of all. When the communists took over, they not only destroyed China's culture, but also eliminated their HEART. I think that's why people in China would just as soon step over your body than help you. Even New Yorkers have more compassion that that, as evidenced in the days following 9/11. Only today, I watched a video featuring Elon Musk. It was entititled, "My Biggest Mistake," and his answer totally surprised me. He said that he used to hire people based upon their BRAINS but not their HEARTS. He learned that between the two qualities, "the heart is the most important." Nuff said.

Chinese get angry with me all the time. I look Western but I grew up in Taiwan and I am 100% Taiwanese. Obviously I am passionate about my country's political status and read a lot of history about China and Taiwan. Whenever I discuss with mainland Chinese they start to dismiss me as a dumb Westerner who knows nothing, then when I speak my native language (Chinese) and have a lot of in depth knowledge about the history and geopolitics they start to get very angry and resort to threats and violent words. I don't hate the average Chinese person, I feel sorry for them. I would rather live for a day completely free than a lifetime locked into some routine controlled by authoritarian masters. China already has over a billion people, more than they can manage. Why can't they just leave us alone then we can all be friends and stronger together.
Taiwan is an example how people of the same country can develop totally differently if they are physically devided and under very different circumstances, respectively governments. The same people, before one nation, get very different to the others. As a German I want to point out, same happened in Germany after 2. world war when Germany was devided in east and west part. The east part was with strong russian influence and the people suffered simililar to the Chinese recently. In order to survive and with having bad examples as well as corruption, they changed a lot. And - even after more than 30 years of reunion - the east part is still not the same!
Half Taiwanese (quarter aboriginal Amis) and American myself. I do business with Chinese business people, politicians, and likely very seedy individuals in a medical setting. I've also lived in Taiwan and love how different my mom is from mainland Chinese people, no offense.. .. it's nice to know that you too have the same opinion and similar insights. I'm glad you got out of China, brother 🙏🏼✊🏼
Quite a hard-speech episode, even for your standards. I am glad you are able to express your opinions on China like this ever since you left the country. Great episode, thank you for making this!
John Connor The irony of having such an English/Western name but with terrible grammar and trying equate a literal dictatorship with a democratic republic is quite laughable. Let’s play a game called US or China, shall we? US or China: Rounding up dissenters to put them in ghettos by state mandated legislature? China! US or China: castrating “undesirables” or otherwise excluding other people from society that don’t conform? Ooh, sorry, that’s also China! US or China: All media must be approved and editted by the government to insert propaganda in order to be consumed in their country? Chiiiiinaaaaaa! See where I’m going with this?
Because Taiwan is basically a better China. It’s more successful on almost every metric; it’s cleaner, it’s actually a free democracy, better healthcare, better standard of living, people are happier and friendlier, no censorship or banned websites, and Taiwan still values traditional Chinese culture. The only thing China beats Taiwan at is military and population. Taiwan is basically a parallel version of how China could’ve developed in the modern era, a parallel that’s better, and China doesn’t like that.
Being a descendant of Chinese migrants, when visiting Taiwan, it felt like a trip down a memory lane with pure Chinese cultures that reminded me of my childhood with my grandmother and what our little Chinese migrant community used to be like, the people, the shrines, the food and way of life. Meanwhile, I feel very distant from the mainland China citizens. The selfishness and ignorance that has grown in them is so different from what actual Chinese cultures and values taught me.
Taiwan is a beautiful country because of it's freedom and democracy; besides, it also welcome and respect all kinds of culture so make foreigners feel comfortable.
I'm a Malay living in Malaysia and once at a supermarket, I heard several Chinese women talked extremely loud. 24% Malaysians are Chinese but our Chinese are soft-spoken and well-mannered. I immediately knew these are mainland Chinese, especially since they have very weird accent and their skin are fairer (our Chinese are darker as they live in the tropics). Shortly after that a video went viral in Malaysia when mainland tourist shat in public place (IIRC, in Penang).
When I was growing up in the 60's/70's, Taiwan was usually referred to as Free China. Sometimes Formosa. When Taiwan happened to be used, we did get confused and think it was Thailand.
Well, I believe Formosa is the name of the island (!!! Not the nation!!!) at least the Portuguese named it like that, I think it means '' beautiful '' or something like that
My best friend's wife is from Taiwan. Her father was a general in Chiang Kai-shek's army. He moved to the U.S. around 1975. Sadly, he died in the massive 2017 Tubbs fire in California. He was 101. His funeral was held on what would have been his 102nd birthday. His wife survived, but with 2nd degree burns.
The relationship of CCP towards Taiwan is pretty much how Russia sees the rest of Eastern Europe: The moment Ukrainians clearly developed democracy was the moment that Russia decided Ukraine is dangerous, because it was a living proof that democracy is possible in the Russian World.

I have recently been looking for information about Taiwan and it's surprising how often I was shunted to all things Thailand instead as if Taiwan doesn't exist. The CCP, because of that jealously you mention, have basically been responsible for the blocking out of much info on Taiwan. When I finally found some information on Taiwan I was amazed at how wonderful an island it is. Just magnificent. I still know very little but will keep on the search. This video was right what I'm looking for. Thanks Winston. It is an eye opener the difference, in just 70ish years, between a country that took away all the freedoms of it's people, and one that allowed more and more freedoms as time passed. No wonder the CCP is scared of Taiwan; how bright Taiwan shines, how dull and sad it makes mainland China look, like a faded glory.

Appreciate the detailed explanation, noting all those wonderful stuff that a Taiwanese like me praise for living on the piece of land. However, it did took Taiwan a while to achieve the free society now. Quite a few tragedies happened when the KMT first came to Taiwan and exercised the martial law (such as what we called 228 if you were interested), people were killed of captured for ceasing freedom or even for no reason. Even til now we are still fighting for many rights and dealing with many social conflicts. But to be honest, we should be very grateful of what we have now.
There were many red spies in Taiwan during that time, and even though the whites in Taiwan weren't angels. It was indefinitely better than what would eventually happen to the people living in Red China.
It was similar in South Korea. While it's a great prosperous democracy now, it took a lot of hardship to get there, and a fight for democracy under a string of dictators. My father was actually arrested and jailed for being part of pro democracy demonstrations. He was later offered reparations by the government (after we did become democratic), but he refused it so that the money could go to building up Korea. I'm glad that it's become a prosperous and free nation now. We used to have a Korean War Veteran come to our store, and he talked about how he was proud to have fought in Korea seeing how successful it has grown over the decades. The Korean government also hosts trips for Korean War veterans to visit the country and see what their sacrifices paved the way for. I hope the best for Taiwan, since it's had a very similar history.

@Indian Stars Agreed. Don't forget Singapore, probably the wealthiest country in Asia. You could probably count Malaysia as well, though it seems to be more of a mixed bag.
@Indian Stars Singapore isn't so democratic.

Given anyone educated was jumped on their stomach untill their intestines would go out, by Mao's youth militias, that is not surprising at all.
That isn't accurate in the slightest. Look up Waishengren. A lot of the people that left communist China were obviously businessmen and people who had the money to leave. I don't know why your friend told you this.

No need to take something that doesn’t belong to you, because the person who lost it must be really worried! We do not want to see that happen to anybody. So it is our obligation to return it and hopefully it can be reunited with whoever lost it. That’s the mentality here. Simple and straightforward.

Not like the Americans you’ll find traveling to Mexico or on cruises.

Taiwan started COVID-19 prevention measures AS EARLY AS the evening of DECEMBER 31 last year by screening passengers from Wuhan, and sent an inquiry email to the WHO, which did not care. (Otherwise the rest of the world could be saved to some extent.)

The Chinese commies are the definition of sore winners. They should just take the win and leave Taiwan alone.
I love Taiwan and hope it stays free and independent.
@AlexNOSAMAlexNOSAM they will never allow an independent Taiwan as same as Tibet.

"Watered down, hollow place...", exactly right, and there's the tragedy. Mao and Stalin each killed all the artists, all the teachers, all the thinkers and culture - each ripped out the soul if their nation, and now there's only a hollow husk left. Look at the "fancy" places in both countries, the halls and areas they most brag about, the places they conduct international meetings. With the sole/recent exception of China's Forbidden City, what you see in bith countries is crass, garish, cheap, clashing color, all the hallmarks of the nouveau rich with no inherent taste at all.
Pulls at my heart whenever I see it, and I see it often in your videos, the continued destruction to on of REAL cultural treasure, replaced by cheap imitations.
It's a tragedy... Thank God Taiwan did take as much as it took.
We are very fortunate to have Taiwan. It's where you can really find the Chinese culture that Mao destroyed. The KMT managed to take nearly a quarter of China's artistic treasures to Taiwan, many of which were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution on the mainland.
Haha, I've always thought it was kind of a dick move by the KMT like taking all the gold and $$$ from Shanghai. Like one last "fuck you" from Chiang Kai Shek to Mao Tse Dong. I mean, you could have used the space to transport more refugees instead of inanimate objects. However in hindsight, seems like a solid play. They also had problems with CCP spies so more refugees may not have been a good thing... edit: I was born in Taiwan and have lived here the past 10 years and not once have I been to the Palace Museum. I think now is a good time to go since Chinese tourism has slacked off.

Also, Taiwan has better strict discipline. Shows that dictatorship doesn’t teach discipline.
There were/are Chinese people in Hawaii who came there far before the CCP came into existence and the Chinatown in Honolulu is really neat.
Your neighbour, here in singapore too. They demand others to speak their langauge instead of learning a Little bit of English.
Ye weird accent is true Malaysian chinese have almost exactly the same accent as Taiwan though
The relationship of CCP towards Taiwan is pretty much how Russia sees the rest of Eastern Europe:
The moment Ukrainians clearly developed democracy was the moment that Russia decided Ukraine is dangerous, because it was a living proof that democracy is possible in the Russian World.
Ukraine is literally one of the most corrupt countries in Europe and that hasn’t changed
True!
My favorite video on UA-cam! Thank you for the comparison. Taiwan deserves more international support!

I love taiwan.. So much. I married a girl from there. It is an amazing place to live.
I hope I'll marry my Taiwanese GF in next two years ! I want to get her to UK but I guess it's not going to be that easy

Taiwan is the most ideal country to live in when they have democracy, but united
The first MMO I ever played was from Taiwan. It seemed to have a lot of love in it. Sadly, the EU publishers hurt the European version quite a lot with their greed.
Taiwan amazing and beautiful small country, God bless them all, Love from India...
Fascinating insights into China. I'm really learning a hell of a lot from your channel.
