Mark, it was so lovely to meet you today at the UK Games Expo. You truly are such an amazing positive influence for the gaming and painting community. As mentioned you were the reason i got into miniature painting (starting with the Imperial Assault Storm troopers) and I've always felt that your videos have been like a personal 1-2-1 tutoring session and so fully packed with information. I really appreciated you taking time to talk with me today, i must confess i was a little star struck lol! Keep up your excellent content Mark. Your such a kind hearted person I wish the very best success for you and your channel. Best wishes, James
You make it look so easy! I need to move away from just utilizing contrast paint and focus on improving my highlighting and weathering techniques. I think this size is a good place to start.
Absolutely loving the Shatterpoint Content. Pretty excited about this game even though I’m not usually one to dive into this kind of game. The miniatures just look so gorgeous and Star Wars has some fun sci-fi colors I’ve been dreaming of using in my Scalecolour set.
Yay episode 2. @Sorastro's Painting. Are you going to be doing a guide for the clones? Your video for the Legion ones was great and it would be great to see an updated scheme. Especially for the white
2 videos in 2 days? I didn't know I've been a good boy but clearly I must have been.... Thanks for another great video. I very much enjoy these. (your KDM series remains my favourite, wouldn't mind a few more vids in that series. Nudge nudge wink wink)
Those look really good, nice video as always, it really makes those larger scale minis look excellent. I don't need anyone miniatures, i don't need anymore miniatures 😂
Once again, bang up job, my friend! I haven't built any of the Shatterpoint models, so I am not sure if it would it be difficult to magnetize Bo Katan's head? At the very least, I'd love to see your way of painting her unhelmeted head, maybe in a "Bonus" or "Episode 1.5" version of this video? Just a thought as I enjoy your style so much and would love to see it! Cheers!
Amazing! My box arrived today so I am opening it up in my lunch break. Do you have a release order of videos you're allowed to share? I'd love to take inspiration (not compare in your words) from your schemes and if I know you're not doing a B1 video, I can go copy the Legion video.
Hi Sorastro! When painting the jetpack exhaust fumes, when dry-brushing and then darkening the fumes, you seem to apply "light logic" from the environment (i.e. shadows towards the bottom of the shapes), and before you told us you wanted the heat "inside" the fumes shapes (towards the center / in the recesses). Would you help me get this clearer into my mind by elaborating what your thought process is when the two sources of light (jetpack vs sun) "meet" in influence over the fumes? I can't quite grok it yet. Thanks! Happy painting to you too!
Ha, hey Yan! I wouldn't over think it tbh, but I just looked at various pictures of actual rocket blasts, and incorporated the main features into my painting. So, yes there's sometimes glimpses of the inner fire/explosion within the plume of smoke, but if the smoke iitself is thick, it will just be lit as usual (from the generally zenithal environmental light). You could of course treat the smoke as being thinner/more transparent, in which case you could emphasize more of the yellow/orange tones if you like, but it's a little trickier to pull off, and I wanted to keep things pretty simple and easy to follow for this video 😀
Games not even out yet and I feel like I am behind in the painting. Do you varnish at all? Some gravitate towards Scale 75 paints because of their more uniform matte finish.
Another set of Shatterpoint minis that are not part of my half of the core box. You’re teasing me 😂 Considering how many Legion minis you painted, did AMG achieve their stated goal, to make the minis easier to paint to more than the usual tabletop standard? Or was that all bollocks and they could have given us print and play options with SWL models? Again, thank you for sharing!
Ha, don't worry - the series is about to take a dark turn... Regarding the minis; they are definitely a little larger, and more crisp than the Legion minis (notice that the helmet markings are actually sculpted into the model, which is a massive help!). 🙂
Hi! I went all in on the Kickstarter, and would like to find time to get some colour on them, but I couldn't possibly say when tbh as I'm just so busy at the moment! 🙂
Great Video, I love your teaching and painting style! Two little question at the end: Which primer (color) did you used and did you make a zenithal white? Love it, hope for more Shatterpoint, legion an maybe witcher😂
Sooo I’m a little confused, Is Shatterpoint basically a 2.0 of Legion… or…? I’m just wondering which one to get into, I’ve been looking at Legion for awhile but now this just makes things confusing 😅
Hey! I'd say they're pretty different games, but you can read the full rules for Shatterpoint here to give you a better idea: www.atomicmassgames.com/shatterpoint 😀
Just been listening to Katee Sackhoff’s podcast and Sam Witwer gave your vids a shoutout.
Excellent! 😁
Sam Witwer just mentioned your videos in the Katee Sackhoff Podcast.....
Thank you! I watched it the other day; Sam's been a kind supporter for quite some years.. 😁
@@Sorastro Lol I'm here because of that shoutout, too. New sub.
Ha ha, thanks! 😁

Thank you so much James! It was a real pleasure meeting you today; I feel very lucky to have such amazing viewers 😀
Brilliant work as always. Can't wait till Friday now! Gonna be a busy weekend!
Awesome Gareth, thank you! 😀
Stunning. Can't wait to see you do the rest of the core set and most notably the new Obi-Wan, Dooku, Jango, and Commander Cody.
Thank you Ian! I'm glad you like what I did with them 😀
Stunning work. so glad UA-cam algorithm gets it right sometimes...Looking forward to seeing the rest of the box painted!
Ha ha, thanks man! 😁
The painting and music is top notch! Keep up the great work 🤩🙏🏼
Thank you, Kimmipops! 😀
You make it look so easy! I need to move away from just utilizing contrast paint and focus on improving my highlighting and weathering techniques. I think this size is a good place to start.
Thanks Beau! Things sure get a lot more interesting once you move away from just using Contrast Colours.. 😀
Dear Sorastro, Another enjoyable tutorial - thank you. Best Wishes Johnny
Thank you kindly, sir! I'm very glad you enjoyed it. 😀
Awesome! Thanks for sharing methods. Looks fantastic.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the video useful 😀

Fantastic, thank you! I hope you enjoy painting them as much as I am!
I haven't picked up my copy of Shatterpoint from the FLGS yet, but I'm super excited to get it and start painting the figures.
Oh great! I'm glad you're coming along for the ride 😁
Sam Witwer mentioned this video on an interview that I just listed to, and it was a perfect suggestion!
Thank you, sir! Sam's a good man 😁
Aw, Snips!! I loved watching you bring her to life sir, thank you! I'm looking forward to getting my copy later this week.
Awesome! Thank you, mate 🤗
**chefs kiss**
Can’t WAIT for more!
Thanks a lot Tom! 😊
Awesome fire and smoke effect
Thank you, sir! It's pretty simple to do 😀
"This is the paint"
Ha 😁
You did not thin your paints... you are no longer a painter. This is the way ;)
"This is the paint way"
Absolutely spectacular work my friend!!!
Thanks so much, Steve! 😁
Can’t wait for the release date this Friday.
Yeh!! 🍾😀
Totally using your rocket blast recipe for my Battletech elementals.
Awesome Anthony! It's nice and easy to do, but gives quite a striking effect I think 😀
Wow that is some art! Thank's again! Think I will have to see if I can magnatize Bo's head. Love the helmet but want to see her face too!!!
Ha, thanks a lot! 😁
Really enjoyed that, just waiting on my set to arrive and start the Dark Side. Looking forward to see how you paint Asajj Ventress.
Thank you Carabus! Be sure to tune in again next Monday....😁
@@Sorastro So excited!
You legend.
You knew these were the first i was gping to paint.... and you did this vid just for me. Didnt ya!?!
Ha ha, you got me 😄
I was hoping, (you might say it was my New Hope), that Sorastro would be painting up these minis! :)
Ha ha, awesome 😁
As wonderfully beautiful as always!
Always so awesome hehe
Thanks a lot! 😊
Cannot wait to play Shatterpoint, but am dreading the painting as I suck!
I'm sure you don't! You might want to watch this: ua-cam.com/video/qW0fpSkgwLA/v-deo.html 🙂
Best way to get better is by doing it, you can always go back and remove the old paint and repaint when you have become better.
Just keep it simple.

Thanks for the great videos. They are very helpful.
What do you use to protect the miniatures after painting?
Thank you for the kind words! I use the AK Interactive Ultra Matte Varnish to protect the minis (either brushed on or applied with the airbrush) 😀

Thank you! I'll be publishing a PDF guide for the terrain very soon.. 🙂

Thanks a lot! The B1 episode is coming up in about 3 weeks (although it's not that different from my Legion one tbh) 😁
Unbelievably good as usual!
Qq, what camera do you use for recording mini painting?
Thank you very much! I actually credit the camera at the end of the video - it's the Sony A7 IV :)
