    Yo Alex I know you are growing your beard and much respect for rocking the homeless Viking look, but a simple trim while keeping the length is a really worthy investment to make your jaw look stronger. It wont set you back more than two weeks of beard growth but it will maintain the shape for much longer.

    I have T rex arms but Have a wide back and chest, and a pretty decent sized neck, having so much trouble putting on mass on my arms. Been hitting triceps with nucleus overload for a few weeks consistently, I see my arms getting more cut up but no size increase at all. When I up my calories the weight doesnt go to my arms but to my chest and back area. Its a little discouraging, I know Im doing something wrong but dont know what.

    Really the brand makes all the difference. You could fit well with a Nike t-shirt but then that changes completely with cheap store t shirts. Also the fit type. Slim fit is the way to go really

  • @DerangedScout
    @DerangedScout 6 років тому +3

    It's funny because a lot of shirt companies, especially in the fitness industry, make their shirt sizes quite a bit smaller in some cases than what their size is labelled to be. Like, I'm a medium dude myself, especially when it comes to conventional clothing you'd find at a store, but I can easily wear a handful of large shirts I find on some supplement sites. Like, some of the shit is hard to take off post-workout.
    Not that I'm complaining, it feels pretty alpha sporting tight large's, oofies.

    • @AlexLeonidas
      @AlexLeonidas  6 років тому +1

      Haha that's true! Sometimes you can go two sizes up. The companies are taking advantage of body dysmorphia :P
      Dig it though

    • @DerangedScout
      @DerangedScout 6 років тому

      It adds a false sense of how big you really are, especially when it comes to inevitibely wearing convention store-bought shirts again; you can't just wear gym attire 'till the day you die, y'know. :D

  • @joebob2872
    @joebob2872 6 років тому +4

    Spot on, I was filling out medium shirts more so in my arms and chest and have always had broad shoulders, probably last 4 years I have been a medium, I am 20 now and this past year and a half I did a solid lean bulk and cut and put on 6-7 pounds of muscles mostly widening my back and and increasing shoulder and trap size and now I fill out a large shirt and look allot larger when filling out a large vs a medium shirt. I quit the bullshit and went to training heavy compounds to add size. Best choice of my life, love the content bro!

    I'm happy to have subbed to your channel Alex. You are the FIRST person to cover this subject and I personally, use the t-shirt sizes for THIS EXACT reason! I currently rock a "Medium". I just re-started my gym training after major back surgery. I'm 5'7.5, 170 lbs. I like a 3/4 sleeve so it covers my arms, but still allows me to see the outline of my triceps, the shoulders for nice and snug, the waist area is loose (31") but the neck/traps area needs work. Lol. In my peak form of 186 lbs and 8% BFP, I can "stuff" a LARGE size and that is the goal I'm working towards! Watching your videos and reconstructing my regiment, I have more focus on growing: legs, back, neck and upper traps. My (triceps) arms and shoulders grow really fast, without much effort.
    I like the fact that you brought this to light and I'm not the only person using shirt sizes as progress gauges! I also do the same with pants. 💪⚡⚡

    Alex i kinda disagree with you on the "numbers are real" and the "shirts telling you about lagging areas", because most clothes(that are brand name) for men, are made for the ideal men in those sizes, ie. models who are usually above 6'0 tall, in ALL of those different sizes(S,M, L etc.), and NOT the general population of men, where the average height is 5'10 something.

  • @randylahey3432

    currently 180 pounds and medium shirt. I've fluctuated and re-comped between 170-180 the past couple years, weight loss mostly due to physically demanding jobs. Also a couple years ago I wanted to fill out a large and thought I'd have to weigh 200 to do that, which I'm probably right about. As a natural that is a few years away, it could happen, however I'm focusing on strength. If or when I ever can't fit a medium I'll go up a size and be stronger and heavier then.

    I don’t understand how you can go up on shirt size without getting taller?
    I mean I used to wear small but now wear medium, fits well but some brands are very tight.
    While hopefully my upper body can grow and make the medium too small, a large would be way too long and I don’t see how that changes aside from getting custom shirts.

      I went from snug XS to tight Large. Body Thickness around pecs, lats, traps, delts causes the close to drape over u more. Like a huge butt shortens a girls skirt. Often shirts are too short for me ( when they would have been long before) because im thicker than a snickers now

    My work shirts dimensions are wrong. The neck is way too small. I had to restitch the top button but neck has grown again and it’s now choking me.
    I’m 5’10 with an 18” neck 17” biceps (flexed) and 15stone. I wear between medium and XL shirts! At work I have to wear a clip on tie so can’t just unbutton top button. Tried collar extenders but it just moves tie just off centre. If I wear the 18” shirt the shoulder seem falls off my shoulders like I’m wearing a tent.
    So I have to stop doing neck flexion/extension harness work/look like the collar is strangling me or just not wear the tie or get another job! I can’t wear bigger shirt as I can’t move my shoulder dimensions as surgery isn’t an option and 5 days of heavy side laterals won’t fill it. Just bought 4 shirts on line and used my measurements and they all don’t fit! (Couldn’t try them on)
    Fucking shirt sizes 🙄😢

      Echo 4 Whiskey The thing is I'm following a strict powerlifting program from my coach. My plan is to do very high volume side raises everyday to get the nucleus overload. I choose side raises because side delts can handle crazy amount of volume and it's not taxing my recovery significantly.

    • @randylahey3432

    Lol it’s different for every brand. Talking about shirt sizes is pointless because there are small t shirts that are legit too big and large t shirts that fit nice and snug. The best way to know you’re big is when people look at you in public and tell you that you’re big

    • @AlexLeonidas
      @AlexLeonidas  6 років тому +3

      Didn't discuss the letters homie, obviously the cuts vary. Just talked about the proportions and how you can use the shirt to assess progress. Also addressed the snug thing at the end.

    This is exactly why I wear plaid long sleeves or sweaters when I go out.
    It's not that I have a bad physique, it's just that it makes me less obsessed with how I look and how other people see me.
    A few years ago, I used to be obsessed with what kind of t shirts I should wear to make me look like my size or "if I would look too small in this shirt or too tight on that shirt or do my arms look too skinny in this one."
    But now it doesn't even come to mind to me anymore since the apparel I wear now changed dramatically from what I wore a few years ago.

  • @Ubermicropwned

    Alphadestiny you’re half right. Shirt sizes vary in sizes, I can wear small to large, so I don’t care about individual size. On a side note, opinion on compression shirts/pants? You’re lean but have optimised compression gear. You should look into it.

    Yo alex, I'm a dude going out a lot meeting women. I was gonna do a bulk eating 200 calories over maintenance, but it never fails my face bloats instantly. It discourages me from bulking Bc I look way better with a trim face. Any advice brother? Can't grow a beard btw Bc of job

      bruh your face is not gonna bloat substantially from 200 calories lol. It's all in your head m8. You're thinking that because you're over maintenance you're gonna be fat and girls will notice but it doesn't work like that at all. Just get out of your head ez

      Witch gave some good advice. Also, consider using minoxidal 5% if you want to grow your beard or even my natural beard oil since the peppermint may help. Also drink a lot of water to reduce water retention, and eat clean! Dress well, be confident, and get in there homie
