When people say your only competing against yourself I think that’s a load of bs. Th me whole reason you started whatever your doing is to be better than someone else at that thing. Hey UA-cam viewer. Lend me your opinion.
Bio: been husky or fat all my life. I’ve played badminton and flag football and jiujitsu as a youth. Went from 168 to 248lbs from my 18th to my 23rd birthday. Did 2 months of walking and dieting to lose 20 lbs. Started lifting 7 months ago. Went through periods of recompostioning and dieting. I lost another 40 pounds. Now I sit around 190 pounds and 20-24% body fat. How long should I stay in a calorie deficit before I put on mass this winter?
    Thoughts? Criticisms? Encouragement?
I know this UA-cam comment will be around for longer than 10 months, so feel free to continue commenting. Someone in a similar situation will want your input in the future.

Depends on your goals my friend. Congrats on the progress so far. Are you okay with being where you are or do you want to be leaner? If you want to trim down still, go at a steady pace until you reach your goal. Then start slowly switching gears to putting size on. You're still relatively new to the gym, so you could benefit from recomping a little longer.

    • @imsorrythankyouplease7613
      @imsorrythankyouplease7613 5 років тому

It is really important to me to be lean once, as soon as possible. I want to see if I have a 4, 6, or 8 pack. Also, I’ve never pushed my stomach all the way out in front of people. Not even a girlfriend. It’s really important to me that I stop lying. I won’t be happy until I can stop unconsciously manipulating people’s perception of me.

unsustainable in the long term but still milk it as long as u can, validation is a powerful motivation. alex is further down along the path, so take his valuable lessons with the necessary context. seeking the validation of a new group ( ex: girls like healthy guys, they dont always obsess over guns) could open up ur mind to cardio work which in turn will give u runners high and mediation through sedation, which will make i chiller.

Other things to consider why you losing your desire to train
Injuries makes you more worried about training
Age as you get older other things in life take over another priorities if you can find it with injuries as well it become far more cautious
Depression/mental health when having a bad week month year give become a zombie back of desire passion interest concentration
Having bad neighbours who plays loud music throughout the day and night horrendous smoking filling your flat adding stress to life
Partners you don't encourage exercise fill your head with negative thoughts,
Them having unhealthy eating pattern affecting your diet
    Life in general
Trying to get over those obstacles and trying to be motivated for exercise can being very very hard to do

Stress and Discipline out of necessity surely help to build a rhythm to stay productive, but like you said... You need more than that in the end. I was way more productive in college due to deadlines but if you become stressed over time then you need to start asking questions. Especially when you enter a period where there are no more deadlines, like a holiday, and you find yourself conflicted with the sense of freedom in combination with a sense of habit. I also like the warm and calm voice you're using for these types of video's, it's a more gentle side to your usual bro mode to pump the viewers for work out videos. It kind of reminds me of those psychology doctors who are trained to keep their patients calm with their way of talking.

I did deadlifts for over 7 years. One day while trying a pr got an herniated disc instead. Even with yoga and all kinds of stretching I still have reduced mobility and pain in certain positions.
It only takes 1 time to fuck you up, no matter the technique you have. Nowadays I only do calisthenics and weighted calisthenics. For legs its running, sprinting, pistol squats or some isolation work. Squats and dealifts only with light weight but rarely. I won-t do less than 8 reps in those exercises again, its not worth it, and several strongman agree with this.
Your back is your most valuable thing, you can still make gains and be ripped without those exercises.

I will ALWAYS have a drive to succeed in fitness endeavors, mostly because it's my favorite thing in the world. (video games are a close 2nd, lmao)
But even then, it's still worth watching this video and giving it a like. Much respect, Alex

This contradicts your Hollywood Physique vs Bear Mode video --- where you wanted kinobody and others to look like a quote "you just came out of a penitentiary"

I deleted that video in 2016, lots of negative content there and it doesn't represent what I stand for today. Why do you keep referencing that older version of me bro? I'm no longer that person. That said I don't see how your comment is related to anything I said here, the penitentiary look is something.

There are cheap foods that are rich in energy and complex carbs though. Get a whole load of oats and grind it up and drink or lots of rice.

The best questions to ask oneself are brought up here and essential for a no regrets pursuit of one's goals to accomplish. Why do you want this? WHY do YOU want THIS? Don't be afraid to be honest with yourself, the truth will never hurt you and is your friend, no matter what.

It’s been a year of me not having any drive
Getting to the gym over thinking but under training feeling exhausted physically, yawning every 5 minutes wanting to go home...
Weighing myself monthly seeing the pounds drop the gains and endurance I’ve trained hard for vanish
    My goal was 12 stone I reached 11st6 I’m now 10st 8
Watching your videos always makes me wanna lift some weights but then come to do it and it’s just like nope
