The C5 Z06 is still a VERY relevant car.
I'd wager the C6Z is more legendary than the C5Z. The C5Z is the affordable one, but the C6Z still stomps a LOT of new cars

You expect the newer car to be better, that goes without saying, but the C5 Z06 was the first to carry the nameplate and the only Corvette to break a Nurburgring lap time record for a production car. Also the C5s were the first Corvettes to win at Le Mans.
Absolutely still relevant!
In my opinion, the best looking Corvette of any generation.

@@IndependenceCityMotoring I'm fully aware of the c5r's dominance in motorsports as one of the winningest cars ever raced, my main point was rather the C6Z ushering in the 500hp supercar era, a performance benchmark which still stands the test of time to this day. Either way you look at it, the Z cars made ripples in the car world that still reverberate to this day
C6 ZO6 is still my overall favorite, all motor 427 that sounds amazing! 🇺🇸
More specifically, the 2011 C6 Z06 Carbon Edition in Supersonic Blue or Inferno Orange. My dream car.

my dad had a c5 and he changed to the c6 in 05 but he still talks about the c5 even 4 cars later. The car was so sleek and he lowered it like crazy! I wish i got to see that car.

And at VIR, which is where the C6 Z06 ran fast and hard for over 24 hours at over 100 mph per lap to test the durability of the LS7.

The first-ever Corvette I ever saw as a kid. I became a fan immediately XD
All the lightweighting effort on the C5 Z06 was worth it in the end as it had one of the fastest Ring times and lap times of any production car at the time. "When the C5 Corvette Z06 clocked its 7:56 time, it was a pretty big deal. GM claimed it was the first production car to break past the eight-minute mark."
i always thought the c6z ring time was insane compared to many current cars, iirc it's much quicker than even the c8 stingray

@@mcmc1863 yeah i think with the later C6 years they shaved off like 10 seconds compared to the original time, iirc a C6Z w/ Z07 put down the same time as a ZR1
iirc they didn’t rent the track and had a bunch of traffic so the time was off. I know the c8 ZO6 was way off because a Tesla and bmw? wrecked ahead of it when it was trying to make its laps
And that 7:56 was a standing start. Likely a 7:50 if run how laps are timed these days.
C6Z was only 14 seconds faster with wider, stickier rubber, big brakes, and 100 more hp. Shows that the C5Z was far ahead of it’s time.
I love it that they seem to be a company that actually listens to their customers.
Audi didn't listen to its customers and discontinued the TT. So now my next car will be a C8. I'm very impressed with the design and performance.

C5Z looks amazing. Love it.
The C5 is definitely down on power compared to the others but I doubt the cornering speed would be too much different so it wouldn’t be that far behind. The C5 Z06 is still the best looking. They got it right the first (2nd) time!
Seeing that C5 blast around the track made me feel happy inside.
And seeing the C8 Z gives me hope for the future of combustion technology
My two favorite chevy motors, LS6 and LT6.

The C7 Z06 wasn't even full throttle in the end there. Of course, they wanted to make the C8Z look good
The C5Z is such a special car. His comment is spot on. They are the most visceral of the modern vettes. Such a cohesive car overall and the LS1 went on to become one of if not the most important modern engines created. The LS6 is a celebration of the LS1 and feels extremely special. A factory hot rodded package. If you’re a car enthusiast and have never driven a C5Z you owe it to yourself to try one. All the modern Vettes are great but the C5 will likely go down as the most important and the C5 Z06 even more so. God bless the workers at team Corvette for pulling off so many great iterations!

Hopefully 5 years from now there will be plenty of used c8 z06s for me to get behind the wheel of, hopefully they deprecate below $100k, but for now I’m saving up for a C6 grand sport haha because that’s the very best my 18 yo ass can dream of affording. I mean, pretty obtainable goal no?

Get a C4. Get one with an LT1 and a ZF 6 Speed Manual transmission. Rock solid, cheap, Targa, timeless... And once again... Cheap (I mean, no loan, buy it and own it cheap). Then, with the itch scratched, save up for a DP on some property.
Thing about Vettes are that guys buy them, and sit on them and they live a halo cars life in the garage and are wiped down more than driven. Even a 30 year old one can be had, mint, for like 14 grand.
I bought a 1996 LT4 Corvette with 8,000 miles for $18,000 a couple years back as an entry into the world of Vettes and to be honest... I completely fell in love with it and have no plans to sell it. I take it to cars and coffee and it gets mobbed.
I wanna see a C7 Z06 in a roll with the C8 Z06...
C6 Z06 is in my price range already. Can wait until after the holidays to get a great deal.
I would like to see an actual race between similar skill level drivers in stock versions of each gen Z06. Sure C8 will win… but by how much? How would the rest do? Would be very fun to watch!

The corvette definitely is something special especially on the used market. I am a fan of the c8 Z06 but would prefer the c6 or c7 z06. But big props for making another all motor performance vehicle before the hybrids and EV's become the only option.
I’d prefer the c8 z06 but can only afford the c7z so that’s what I’ll be getting 😂

Too bad you cant order one. I got on the “list” at the same time i got on the list for the 2020 stingray. Now the dealer wants 50k to order a 3LZ for me. If you could order directly from Chevrolet sales would increase for Z06.

Editing on that video was a bit odd. They gave the C5 a 5 second head start and made it look as if they passed it by the 1st turn. I call BS. Not to say it’s faster than the others but it’s not that slow. I’d say it would take half a lap it it had a competent driver at least.

It was a fat tank. Literally 36 gallons of fuel for endurance racing. It’s not gonna happen as it’s just insanely outclassed in every way in comparison
