Extra detail I just noticed rewatching the theory again: the two people who casually “interfere” with Spongebob fully joining the Goofy Goober Cult are Movie Neptune (who quite literally “interrupts” in the perfect moment) and Mindy, Movie Neptune's teenage daughter. Not only does it ally with the Neptune Theory of Movie Neptune and Mindy being hired actors for the movie, BUT it also aligns with the Television Theory: the writers are trying to pull Spongebob away from the cult because... there's no show without Spongebob.
Alex bale is the only man that is capable of making the lines: "I'm a goofy goober" "You're a goofy goober" "We're all goofy goobers!" have hidden lore and dark meaning

@@shadowshooterstudios2730also no nose, perhaps they originally had wanted to go this route but realized it was too dark and changed the character slightly
i live for alex's storytelling, the theories are amazing but the fact that he's framed them within this mini-mystery of this deal with an entity is just the icing on the cake. so much talent and skill for one person!
Can't remember if this was mentioned in this video but the aliens from Atlantis have a thing for ice cream. Like the weapons shoot ice cream, and they can turn things into exclusively ice cream. So maybe those are the aliens they worship. I just thought it fits with the theory.
While a good point there is a question. How did anyone find out the Atlantians turned all their weapons and such into Ice Cream Dispensers? If I recall. They say that they had converted all their technology after they decided to hide away the city. So it then leads to the question. How did people find out?
I can’t tell if he genuinely enjoys making SpongeBob theories or if he believes that he still has to do this to show off his craft because at this point I would watch anything this guy put out.
Ok but now im questioning that episode where Patrick mistook strangers for his parents - that means both his sister AND him have wound up so separated from their origins that they dont recognise their own family. I havent seen an episode of the spin off but it makes me inagine their parents wondering what the heck happened to their kids. It also makes me wonder if Patrick was vulnerable enough to get affected by the cult tactics before but stupid and unpredictable enough to wind up getting out without ever knowing he was in danger but still very confused...or...maybe hes not out at all? Its just occured to me that we have no idea how someone as thoughtless as Patrick with no sign of a regular job manages to keep a house and afford anything 😅
This actually has a lore reason there's a video on it that I watched a couple days ago that goes into the story behind the spongebob guy. Should go give it a watch
That sounds good, but I’d be more interested in seeing one about Plankton. I know that they already revealed his childhood origin in the Friend Or Foe episode, but his technological prowess and marriage to an AI still have a ton of potential for exploration. I was also considering Larry the Lobster at first, but realized that there’s not much to go on with him.
The shot composition at the ending scene was really neat, allow me to analyze for a moment: 1. in my interpretation, putting individuals at different heights creates a sense of dominance and superiority, the monster is quite literally a level above alex here - whereas before, alex was always the one who had to come down to its level - which cinematically demonstrates the shift in control here (as seen in the monster eating the cat despite it not being offered, it just took it instead of being given the meat). what was once a symbiosis has turned into a parasitic relationship. 2. Alex is forced to look UP to the creature - whereas before they saw eye to eye (literally) - which is also metaphorical as he is looking up to this monster for guidance and spongebob theories. And at the same time, this creature is looking down at alex, seeing him as a lowly pawn and a means to get his meat. (side theory/analysis: i think this creature is also a metaphor for us as an audience, a presence that is taking over his life, demanding to be ‘fed’ (content) and our growing insatiable hunger for more theories are taking over his life (since i’m sure crafting these theories takes a LOT of time). oh and the bottles it gives alex? perhaps a parallel to commenters and other people suggesting ideas for him to look into.) 3. Alex appears to be in a basement, which isn’t just to add to the creepy atmosphere! Generally speaking, one can’t usually leave or escape a house from a basement, you usually have to go up to the main floor to do so… but the creature is blocking off his exit, he’s literally trapped by this monster just like how he’s trapped making these spongebob videos. 4. I just wanted to point out that the obvious yellow light (in addition to the yellow clothes and other objects in later videos) clearly is meant to represent how spongebob is taking over his life. BUT what i also noticed is that the doorframe and the yellow make a YELLOW RECTANGLE, y’know LIKE SPONGEBOB! AND ITS LITERALLY LOOMING OVER ALEX LIKE SIME SORT OF OMNIPRESENCE!!! 5. oh yeah also alex is slowing being engulfed by darkness, especially when the monster is around… need i say more? Alex, my man, my dude, the level of detail and thought you put into the shots of these snippets of short films in these videos are astounding, and picking them apart is a lot of fun! great work!!!!

@Voltinax not really. i mean everything he said made sense… he backed up everything said in this video and didn’t leave anything unanswered so obviously they’re pretty convincing
I must be a secret clairvoyant person, because even when I was a kid and watched this movie, I always felt unsettled by "The Goofy Goober" peanut and atmosphere lol
The fact that he did one about Goofy Goobers being an alien death cult is very similar to Alex's character situation with his Muse. It came into his life when he was at his lowest, made him give it offerings for knowledge, even a living creature, made Alex rely on him, and changed his identity into the spongebob guy. Like in the end of the video it usually said Alex Bale, now it says the spongebob guy. The Muse has turn Alex into his follower and everytime he tries to break free, it temps him back with more conspiracies.
The amount of effort your putting into this is insane. First there’s the actual theory videos which on their own are already really high quality. Then there’s there’s the arg on top of these theories which is just as well made.
The next theory should be: remember that spongebob episode where Patrick turned smart? Near the end of the episode there was a literal field of Starfish heads. Something’s definitely up with that…
For what it's worth, I'd really like to see an in-depth analysis of Patrick. Patrick was a super playful kind of stupid during the first three seasons, but during the next parts of the show, he just becomes an asshole. Maybe there's more to it? Maybe he has a dark past too? We will never know...
Wait, goofy goobers is lacking one more element of cults: forcing you away from your friends and family. And while spongebob and Patrick are eating there, they still have contact with their friends and family.
Stephen Hillenburg: If we make the ice cream act like achohol, we can entertain an older audience! Alex "The Spongebob Guy" Bale: *THEY'RE GOING TO FUCKING KILL PEOPLE*
he has a cat named gary now. this signifies that he has lost his resolve and is now just the spongebob guy. maybe the cult theory is parallel to 'real life'. by naming a cat gary, he has submitted to the cult and pledged his soul to the theory maker.
He ‘had’ a cat named Gary… what I find more interesting is the fact that the creature had tentacles like squidward, speaks with the same grammer as mr krabs and has a voice like a demented Patrick.
Y'know, if you take this theory and buy into it, it honestly really explains a lot about how Spongebob would be portrayed as a character moving forward in the show's runtime. Spongebob, after his rebirth, is shown to be very different in the seasons after the movie. He's always been fun-loving and had carefree idiocy, but those traits seem to be more exaggerated in later seasons. Could this be a result of the rebirth perhaps? No longer easily giving into his other emotions because he has seen the light and he knows that his true fate is sealed. This could also be applied to Patrick as well, now a shell of his former self. Once a a slow and dopey fellow with a heart of gold, and now a braindead idiot who can be very aggressive and impulsive. I think it's very well possible that their rebirths did a number on the both of them, far greater than we'd realized until now.
@@ZackFireX they really need to implement this into the show and allow them to over come the cult and then they can go back to good writing too bad it's a children's show and can't have cult themes
And to add more fuel to the fire, this technically also kinda tackles in real life too when it comes to most celebrities. Kid/Teen Celebrities to be exact. At first, the Kid/Teen Celebrity acts all wild, carefree, and having a good time just having fun. You know, how all of us used to act like that back then when we were kids. But as the Kid/Teen Celebrity grows older and into adulthood or young adulthood, they changed for the worse: ▫️Constantly being violent and impulsive towards others ▫️Them being so rude towards their fans ▫️ Constantly getting into lots of drugs and/or sex(And possibly crime) without any form of reason ▫️While at the same time, acting completely aimless and out of their minds, feeling like they were being trapped and their childhood/teenhood was their trauma ▫️And many people would hate that their perfect childhood icon would be acting like this. So they'd either ridicule them, shame them,or in the very worse case scenario,be in total denial that it's still the same person that they saw all those years ago and get defensive(A Brittany Spears Fanboy for instance). While some Kid/Teen Celebrities managed to suffered from this, but managed to recover afterwards (Which is extremely rare nowadays),but sadly not all of them managed to recover from that darkness.
I know your seen as the spongebob guy, but your story telling and photography is absolutely amazing and brilliant, I always wait until the end just to make sure I didn't miss any of your amazing bonus clips, keep up the good work man!! ❤

i honestly think that the horror segments of these videos are underrated, i used to skip them but i was totally missing out, i always thought the creator vs demmand (best way i can word it) trope of getting tired of what made you popular was realistic, considering how ive seen it with several creators in real life (bosh, litterally any tf2 content creator, ETC) this is a great spin on it, excelent cenematography
It also feels worth mentioning that in the game, after Spongebob and Patrick are captured by the cyclops, they have a shared dream that takes place in some Goofy Goober theme park. Complete with the Goofy Goober himself leading them around. Clearly the cult has worked its way so deep into their minds for them to have such a dream.
Maybe the trip they taken to get the crown for Neptune was all fake because maybe according to your theory they got inside theirs mind and tried to verify if they have been brainwashed correctly and by putting all of this hints during the trip they could 100% verify if they would understand that goofy goober wasn't an actual cult
Another point about the end of the movie is that Spongebob is using the “power of the goofy goober” to save everyone, even royalty. He has basically taken the position of a recruiter in the cult and is giving everyone else a reason to back it. That would be like someone relying on the power of Chuck E Cheese to pull out of a hostage situation.

kind of impressed actually. I went into this expecting a silly joke theory or something but now I'm willing to believe some of the writers just think cults are really funny and thought it was funny to hint at goofy goobers being one

If you tie in both the theory and the actual lore, there's something in common. The theme of the theory is that Goofy Goobers is pulling strings on people. The current scenario in the lore is that the beast is pulling strings on Alex Bale on making spongebob theories. My best guess to the tie is that this solo theory isn't only another one made by the beast, but is also a hidden message from Alex Bale himself. Pretty much Alex Bale telling us about how he's being played and toyed like a puppet, and at some points doing things that he doesn't want to do. It's a wildcard I'm throwing upon the table, but it's decently solid.
maybe the entire theory series is actually about what's happening to him? there are FOUR theories about fake identities, (neptune stealing poseidon's throne, which is basically his identity, mrs.puff changing her identity, squilliam pretending to be loved and famous and hiring actors to pretend to be his friends, and mr.krabs pretending to be pearl's dad) and TWO about being manipulated and controlled (this one, and the television theory). maybe he's been replaced by a clone and forced to disconnect from his family due to this monster?
This isn't just a wildcard in this whole deck. At the end of Theory 5, Alex doesn't get a scroll for Theory 6, he actually sits down and begins to write the Theory himself.
this could explain why after the spongebob movie, the show changed. everyone’s personality were completely changed and based off of one trait. him singing the goofy goober song could also be brainwashing and that’s why everything changed in that season

also you can say that spongebob becoming the goofy goober wizard could relate to cults as well. ascension being key things in some cults (ascensionism, heaven's gate, etc). most importantly in some of them, have certain events to display their powers and gift. Like idk a whole ritual or even song they sing to set one's soul free and have them ascend too. doesn't that sound familiar? we see that happen in the movie, and after the fight it was revealed to be fake. so could the last fight be just a whole stunt to get people invested in the cult, though they were lucky it actually worked? could it be that spongebob rose the ranks in the cult, and having ties with them and have access to this sort of "power"?
even the lyrics to goofy goober rock are cultish. starts with the original song/mantra. "Put your toys away. Well, then I got to say when you tell me not to play" - talking about not listening to authorities. "...When you say I'm a kid. I say, say it again. And then I say thanks" - embracing being a goofy goober. "...you'd like to be like me. Go ahead and try, the kid inside will set you free." - you will ascend, if you join us. then ends with the original song/mantra.

Okay, if there are going to be seven theories then it must mean something. I believe the seven theories represents the seven deadly sins. The first was envy because it was about the rivalry with Squidward and Squilliam. The second was about pride because the people were using Bikini Bottom as a TV show. The third is wrath because the warden wanted revenge on Mrs. Puff and tortures her. The fourth could possibly be either greed because of the krabby patty. The fifth could be lust because lust can also mean a feeling a strong desire for something and Poseidon seems to want to look good. And the sixth could be gluttony, because the Goofy Goobers company is using ice cream to manipulate the people of Bikini Bottom to make them join the cult. I only sin that is left and could probably relate to the seventh, and possibly the final theory, is sloth. It either has to do with laziness or something that has to do with slow. ...Or I could just be losing my mind because of these conspiracy theories.
Man, SpongeBob is the perfect example of how to put obscure horror in a show for kids, seeing this theory, the robot invasion theory, that one theory about Pearl’s mother/the evolution Bikini Bottom’s inhabitants/the secret formula and the theory about Mrs.Puff. Nice video by the way.

The shot composition at the ending scene was really neat, allow me to analyze for a moment:
1. in my interpretation, putting individuals at different heights creates a sense of dominance and superiority, the monster is quite literally a level above alex here - whereas before, alex was always the one who had to come down to its level - which cinematically demonstrates the shift in control here (as seen in the monster eating the cat despite it not being offered, it just took it instead of being given the meat). what was once a symbiosis has turned into a parasitic relationship.
(side theory/analysis: i think this creature is also a metaphor for us as an audience, a presence that is taking over his life, demanding to be ‘fed’ (content) and our growing insatiable hunger for more theories are taking over his life (since i’m sure crafting these theories takes a LOT of time). oh and the bottles it gives alex? perhaps a parallel to commenters and other people suggesting ideas for him to look into.)

The fact that he did one about Goofy Goobers being an alien death cult is very similar to Alex's character situation with his Muse. Nice more theories

But as the Kid/Teen Celebrity grows older and into adulthood or young adulthood, they changed for the worse:
▫️Constantly being violent and impulsive towards others
▫️Them being so rude towards their fans
▫️ Constantly getting into lots of drugs and/or sex(And possibly crime) without any form of reason
▫️While at the same time, acting completely aimless and out of their minds, feeling like they were being trapped and their childhood/teenhood was their trauma
▫️And many people would hate that their perfect childhood icon would be acting like this.

Interesting theories
I really wish he wouldve covered the game more, wouldve made it more interesting

Damn that makes sense
maybe the entire theory series is actually about what's happening to him? there are FOUR theories about fake identities, (neptune stealing poseidon's throne, which is basically his identity, mrs.puff changing her identity, squilliam pretending to be loved and famous and hiring actors to pretend to be his friends, and mr.krabs pretending to be pearl's dad) and TWO about being manipulated and controlled (this one, and the television theory). maybe he's been replaced by a clone and forced to disconnect from his family due to this monster?
This isn't just a wildcard in this whole deck. At the end of Theory 5, Alex doesn't get a scroll for Theory 6, he actually sits down and begins to write the Theory himself.
This also ties with the evolution theory the monster ate the cat right? Just like the fish eat other fish!

My biggest question is… does this ARG have an offical name? Like “The Spongebob Guy?” Or?

also you can say that spongebob becoming the goofy goober wizard could relate to cults as well. ascension being key things in some cults (ascensionism, heaven's gate, etc). most importantly in some of them, have certain events to display their powers and gift.
Go ahead and try, the kid inside will set you free." - you will ascend, if you join us.
then ends with the original song/mantra.

does anyone else notice that in the Atlantean episode they have a machine that turns random everyday objects (like a comb) into ice cream? and when asked what else it can turn things into, the king says that “it actually only makes ice cream, we haven’t found a way to work out the bugs on that yet,” or something to that affect and i just find that really interesting on top of everything else discussed in this video.
and the aliens that appear in front of Patchy that shrank Encino and put it back to its original size? and the part where he’s singing the back in Encino song during his hallucination, what’s also interesting to me is the thing that breaks him out of it & back to reality is when his ice cream cone falling into the grass.

The fact that Alex uses the popularity of these videos compared to his other content as a plot device that he preplanned is absolutely genius. I just never know what I'll get from or where I will find Alex Bale.

When Spongebob sings the Goofy Goober Song at the end, he is basically overriding one mind control over the other. "Freeing" everyone of the tool assisted, physical and most recent brainwash with the mind control they all have had since they were kids, on a subconcious level and substance-assisted.
I agree with this 👍

Man, SpongeBob is the perfect example of how to put obscure horror in a show for kids, seeing this theory, the robot invasion theory, that one theory about Pearl’s mother/the evolution Bikini Bottom’s inhabitants/the secret formula and the theory about Mrs.Puff. Nice video by the way.
