Well done. I followed other videos on this subject and no one was honest enough to talk about the small gap that you'll always get. I used your way of making the fence straight
I wonder why these companies don't just provide a decent fence in the first place. After all, 90 degree edges is what you buy a planer for in the first place. I've got the Rutland's version of this planer/thicknesser. I was lucky enough to get it in the sale for £250, still a bit more than the Titan one. But its fence is FAR superior to the bit of wobbly tin that the Titan has.
I’m a bit like yourself I’m just starting woodworking still trying to finish shed/ cabin on inside before I can put floor in. But I’ve been fighting severe rheumatoid arthritis for 25 years and last couple of years I’ve had 2 strokes which has affected my speech saying words and I’ve lost my short term memory so can’t remember nothing after 5 minutes. But like you said if you’re bad and can’t pick up anything leave it alone and don’t do it. One thing I can recommend to you is a Magnetic Pickup Tool with Led Light and Claw, Pickup Tool Flexible Grabber Magnet Pickup on Amazon saves you bending down and doing your back in
@@WoodworkJourney can I ask you something on your Titan thicknesser and planer if ok. On the dust extraction hood there is a thumb screw and an Allen key I know it’s says it’s a m5 5mm Allen key but doesn’t give the length. Would you know what the length of it is as I’ve got same planer thicknesser but mine fell out and can’t find it. I’ve tried to find out from screw fix and other places but had no luck I was hoping you might be able to help me out if possible many thanks steve 👍🏻👨🏼🦽
Hi Steve, I answered your other post about this one. Essentially though get an m5 that’s too long, and trim it down to fit 😊 I don’t know the proper length and have no idea where mine is sadly
@@WoodworkJourney ok cheers and sorry I forget what I’ve massage to people due to short term memory loss from my 2 strokes and thanks again I might try to get a 10mm and try as never cut one before. When I say in a complete novice I really am
how do you get round the micro swich ? its a great idea to do that , its the biggest ball ake to keep setting the fence up , im just starting out so not used many thicknessers or jointers , ive bought the worst one on the market , but looks the same as yours , its the Scheppach and you have to have the chip extraction fitted before it works
@@WoodworkJourney i was hoping to put a permanent fence on it so its always square , with hardley any way to adjust the fence i need to find away so i can use it as it should be used
I love the way you own your mistake, this makes it real for me and I can connect with your work, because we're not all perfect! 😊
And I make a lot of them, so videos would be unrealistic without them 😂

Love your honesty 🤪 Very refreshing.
Loving your videos. Really inventive. And you use what comes to hand.
Thank you very much 😊
That'll work a treat. You can always tweek the design if needed. Great job with minimum outlay. Tony
Thanks Tony, empty wallet encourages resourcefulness LOL
Love your enthusiasm, keep up the videos👍
Thank you Gary, I certainly will!

To be honest Anthony, as a person new to jointers I would strongly advise leaving the micro switch to do its thing,
