    Hi Mark. What about their "Blow Up" system that is supposed to prevent retention? Does it require separate special hopper? And does it only work for single dosing?

    • @Bodhibuilder
      @Bodhibuilder 3 роки тому

      It works only in theory. Completely impractical. You still get a huge retention when single dosing (up to 8 grams) and because the hopper is closed from the top, it also sucks the ground coffee up when refilling with air.

    Could you do a review on the Rocket Fausto? I believe it shares many parts with Eureka and is a great alternative for those in the atom market looking for something with that “classic” Italian look.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  5 років тому

      Hi Kyle, I've touched on the Fausto in a couple of other videos but do need to do a full review! FYI the Fausto is made for Rocket by Eureka. Grind adjustment mechanism is similar. The Fausto uses a funnel and timing control are on a plate atop the funnel. Other than that and aesthetics very similar to the Atom.

Thanks :)

  • @Django44

    Excellent review - well done. Question: should the machine be running when adjusting grind size? That seems to be a requirement on all other grinders with this feature.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  4 роки тому

      Hi U, Thanks for the comment and question. Grinder manufacturers always say to have the grinder running when making grind size changes. Truth is when adjusting grind coarser one does not have to have the grinder running. When adjusting finer without the grinder running partially ground beans can be compressed enough between the burrs to cause the motor not to run. if left on with out the motor spinning it could overheat. In my practical experience one can usually get away with a small adjustment to a finer setting without the motor running.

    Really enjoy the reviews. Currently trying to decide on the Olympus 75E or the Atom Speciality 75. Can you guys do a video comparing the 2? Pros and cons? Is the Olympus that much louder? is the construction worse on the atom? is the retention the same on both? Thanks!

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  4 роки тому

      Hi H, Thanks for the comment and question. I'll see if I can't work in a comparison video of the 2. My video cue is rather long at the moment so it might be awhile. In the meantime... Both produce essentially the same grind quality from their 800 watt motors driving 75mm burrs. The Olympus has a more coffee shop build quality. It's heavier and and has little touches like a huge turning power switch compared to a rocker switch on the Atom. If anything, the Olympus has a more mellow tone with the larger housing. Beyond that it comes down to aesthetics - preference for the interface layout. Here's a link to a side by side spec comparison: www.wholelattelove.com/pages/compare?products=MTU0NTk5ODkyNTg4Myw0MjUzMDAxNTgwNTk4 Olympus currently a great deal at just $30 more than the Atom.

    Noticeable difference in flavour between atom (60mm) and the atom 65?
    I usually brew lighter roasted modern espresso beans

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 роки тому

      Hi Jason, Thanks for the question. Here's a link to a side by side spec comparison of the Atom, Atom 65 and Atom 75, Larger burrs generally produce a more consistent grind particle size and they grind faster: www.wholelattelove.com/pages/compare?products=NDIxNjQyMTc0NDY5NCwxNTQ1OTk5NDUwMTcxLDQyNTMwMDE1ODA1OTg
      In the specs take note of the watt ratings of each - it increases with burr size. Taste is subjective so hard to say with authority that it's a noticeable difference with larger burrs. If you do a lot of lighter roast specialty grade beans you probably already know they are harder/denser than darker roasts and occasionally present a challenge to lower powered grinders. Hope that helps!

    • @Wholelattelovepage

      Hi John, Thanks for the question. I believe the Fausto is based off the Eureka Zenith: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/eureka/products/eureka-zenith-65-e-hs-grinder-in-chrome
      Fausto and Zenith specs and price are nearly identical. Currently the Fausto is $50 less. But if it's Atom or Fausto I'd go Fausto for the bigger burrs.

    Have you guys found any solution for the "popcorning" effect? I'm looking for a quiet grinder and having to keep the bean hopper half full all the time seems quite annoying. Or maybe you have suggestions for similar grinders? Thank you.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  5 років тому

      Hi Filipe, Thanks for the question. With the auger in the Atom there's no solution to popcorning. It's a setup which doesn't lend itself to single dosing. Have a look at the Ceado E6P: www.wholelattelove.com/ceado-e6p-electronic-dosing-grinder-v2 It uses a 64mm flat burr set compared to the 60mm in the Atom. It has 2 timed grinding presets but they are not as easy to adjust as the Atom's. But maybe that's not a concern as it sounds like you may be into single dosing. Might also have a look at Baratza Sette 270. Not the same build quality as the Eureka or Ceado grinders but very good and about half the price. Sette grinders have very low retention produce beautiful fluffy well distributed grinds and work well if single dosing: www.wholelattelove.com/grinders/burr?product_brand=121

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  4 роки тому +1

      Hi 23, Hmm... I think the bigger question is the voltage and/or phase. Depends where in the world you are but you could be running 2 phase or single phase power. No guarantees, but usually not a going to cause damage if you plug something meant for higher voltage say 220 into a 110 circuit which is usually 60hz. May not operate properly but probably will not hurt anything. Going the other way can be an issue. In your shoes, I would check compatibility with a local electrician.

      You are welcome and thank you for the kind comment. 75mm burrs produce a slightly better grind and grind faster. For average users grind quality increase with larger burrs may be hard to detect in finished espresso. As for grinding for espresso vs. brew... This type of grinder is IMO more oriented to espresso. It's not the grinder I would choose if only grinding for brew. Frankly, it's overkill as fine grind size adjustment for brew is not critical. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions!
