I have the Ceado E37J. I recently came from an older Mazzer Super Jolly grinder. The Ceado is a good bit quieter compared to the Mazzer Super Jolly. In fact, there is no comparison. I have that teamed up with the Profitec Pro 500 which I bought from Whole Latte Love. What a great combo! Outstanding video, Marc: wonderfully helpful! I opted for the E37J to go with my Brewtus IV-R. The Ceado's a beast. It's rocks espresso SO hard! A knob is convenient; but the added weight on the Ceado makes the lever function very well. Once a flawless grind is guaranteed (at this level, neither grinder would disappoint) the lower, less-annoying sound of the Ceado sealed the deal. I'm really glad that I stepped from my original thought of E5P/E6P. The only other intriguing grind at this point is the E37K. Conicals are nice.

Hey Marc, I know this question is a little unrelated, but I need help with my Brewtus IV-R. Two Questions: 1.) Will any E-61 portafilter fit on any E-61 group head? 2.) Is there a triple shot (21g) basket that will work in the Expobar dual-spout portafilter? In order to get a good ~2:1 extraction ratio, I'm finding that I need more than 18g of grounds. 17.5 - 18g won't really fit in the Brewtus IV basket; it gets a lot of grounds on the shower screen. And, my cortados/flat-whites really shine with a slightly ristretto shot. Bottom line, I need more grounds in order to get a good double shot. What basket can accommodate my Expobar portafilter? If none can, what other portafilter (aside from the bottomless PF I have) would accommodate ristretto lifestyle? Cheers, -James
Hi James, I have the Brewtus as well (also from WLL). I can't answer your first question, but for the second question, I use a 22 gram VST basket with the stock double spout portafilter (though I do use the bottomless portafilter most frequently). Hope that helps.

Thanks for the review of all grinders. What would be very helpful is to tell us what kind of roast you are using. As you know light to very light roast are becoming more and more popular amoung the specialty coffee community and grinders don't show the same results at all. For instance I doubt that 300w along with 64mm burrs will produce a satisfying result with a light roast. It takes 45 seconds with a F4nano to grind 18g of light to medium roast... Please do test several roast and tell us how this influences the timer. many thanks. Nicolas
I was hoping for exactly this comparison and, as usual, WLL delivered. For me, the Ceado wins hands down. Just looks way better, has a more pleasing tone of grind and it seems more solid - less plastic and less digital-screen nonsense. When I buy it, I'll be sure to do it through WLL.
Hello, I'm a big fan of your content but 3 dB difference according to experts it's like double the noise. And is pretty crazy how you gave that ceado a win in adjustment...anyhow atom 65 and 75 mm are out would love to see a comparison on those.
So I'm thinking about pairing my ECM Classika PID with the lovely Ceado grinder. When dialing in do you have do adjust the burrs without the lever as shown "from the inside" or is it already in the range you would need....since the grind size lever can't be turned around continuosly?
Hi JG, Never too late as I monitor comments for all original threads! They are very similar. A couple of key differences. The Atom uses a grind size adjustment system which keeps the top burr static and moves a shaft through the motor to change grind size while the Ceado uses a fixed bottom burr and moves the top burr up and down. The way they are put together neither grinder loses it's grind size setting when opening for cleaning etc. Both grinders are built well but the Ceado gets the edge in overall build quality. It's noticeable in overall weight, quality of fasteners and use of forged metals in some areas of the Eureka grinders compared to more machined parts in the Ceado. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi SB, Thanks for the comment and question! Ceado is an espresso focused grinder. Atom is too. Both can grinder coarser. Flat burr grinders like these tend to produce more fine particles when used to grind in coarser ranges. Depends on how particular you are if that's a problem. May get some dirty cups from French press. Also, if using for espresso it's going to be a pain getting dialed back in after grinding in coarser ranges. Marc

Atom is more oriented toward espresso grinding. Have not been able to get my hands on the Niche Zero

Hi Matthew, Thanks for the question. Neither is NSF rated for commercial use. However that's likely because Ceado and Eureka did not seek NSF rating for the grinders. Joe Cuzzola Hi Joe, I thought I'd add my two cents here, I've had a Mazzer Mini Electronic, Vario and now an E6P. I found programming more of a sales thing than a practical thing in daily use. Weather and other variables make programing often hit or miss. I've never even changed the 1 shot or 2 shot buttons on my E6P. I just hit the 1shot button and then hit it again for a sqoosh more. Second hit turns it off. All very fast and consistent with me determining the final amount. If I want to be really fussy, I'll weigh it but that is seldom my choice, so programming the grinder has never been my thing.

In the video it statues that the Atom adjustment know is not as precise as the slider on the E37J. Is that the same case with the Eureka Zenith 65 knob where it would not be as precise as the E37J also?
Hi Darin, It's similar. It's not that the knob is not precise, I just find a larger change in grind size for a similar physical distance of movement. Like if I turned the knob 1/4" and moved the lever 1/4" grind size changes more using the knob. On the other hand that makes it easier to go to a grind for a different brew method. Marc

Hi Timz, Thanks for the questions. Probably not finding much on single dosing with a Mignon as it's a rather bad choice IMO for that. Tends to popcorn the beans in the hopper. No reason you couldn't DIY a bellows but I wonder how well it would work. There's more going on than just the bellows. Wetting the beans prior to grinding (RDT) is generally required when single dosing. It reduces static and helps to get all the ghrounds out of the grinding chamber. Single dosing grinders generally have smaller grinding chambers so less gets left behind. They also have no static control screens or flaps (another reason why RDT is important) to allow grinds to exit chambers more freely. Most SD grinders also use burrs treated to prevent oxidation (rust) which is a risk with the moisture used in RDT. Hi Joe, Great question. A couple things I can say and a lot I can't with regards to flat v. conical burrs. The vast majority of prosumer level grinders we ship are flat burr - easily above 95%! There are loads of grinders in the non-commercial range with conical burrs like many from Baratza and Breville. When you get up into the high-end of commercial grinders you see more conical burrs. Now we get controversial... Why is that? Is the grind better? Are they more reliable or faster? Are opinions driven by vocal users? Can anyone taste a difference in shots from flat or conical in a blind taste test. Are we splitting un-splittable hairs? I spoke with 4 people in our tech support department who have worked as baristas in cafes which also roast coffee to get their opinions. There was no clear preference.

Hi mac, Yes the E37S is a stepless grinder. The lever is similar to the E37J in this video. It can be removed and adjusted beyond the range of the lever stops.

HI Marc, Is the E37J a multipurpose grinder?
Hi Minh, It can be used for other brew methods. But, it's not easy to quickly change between fine espresso and medium/coarse grind sizes.

@@Wholelattelovepage Thank you for your quick reply! I'm considering between Baratza and Eureka but the Eureka kind of throw me off because of the amount of retention. However, Eureka has a separate zero retention hopper for purchase, so that might help?
Ceado looks like an old school style juicer Atom looks like a coffee grinding beast.

@@Wholelattelovepage Yeah I've seen that one. It is a crazy grinder. I know Ceado does make great grinders, just was pointing out a subjective positive point for the Eureka :)
