- Last trip out this year fishing for some holdovers. Its tough, but very rewarding when you actually hook into one. Just a few tips and tricks that I use when fishing for trout in general....oh and I caught a COCKAH of a rainbow in this video. :)
Gopro died before I could even use it today so I had to rely on the point and shoot. Sorry about the wind noise.

I grew up with all women and unfortunately none of them fished and I've never fished. I'm 22 with 2 sons now. Thank you for teaching me this. My sons will learn everything I learn from your videos.
Excellent video sir! The best I've seen about how to read flowing sections of water. Seams, rifles, pools, ledges, and drop offs. Boulders, stumps, and other under water structure. Casting and drifting sinking worm patterns to the top of the pool and letting it drift through, is one of my favorite things to do!
This is the most educational video I’ve seen.
Great video!! I’ve learned more about trout fishing watching this one video than the 10 or so I watched before coming across yours.
Great tips here! I’m a bass fisherman from Texas, but spending some time this week fishing for trout in Colorado streams and rivers. These tips and explanations are great, although I think the water may be almost all white right now around Vail.
1 What part of Texas
2 why go to colorado to trout fish when we have one of the best trout fisheries in the country just north of you here in Arkansas.
Check out "Brown Trout white river Arkansas"
David Marklein - I fish around Dallas lakes for bass, but I was necessarily going to Colorado just to fish for trout. I was in Colorado for a family vacation, and tried trout fishing while I was there. I don’t plan on going on any other trout fishing trips, not because I don’t like it, but just because all my equipment is for bass. I lived in Arkansas for over 10 years, so I’m aware of the high quality trout waters there.
@@FishingtheLoneStar Roger that.. I have done quite a bit of trout fishing up around Breckenridge, Blue River and Dillon mostly.. Nothing beats the white for monster Browns..
Love me some Texas Bass too.
Lake Palestine used to be a ptetty good spot back in the day.
Greetings from Dublin Ireland, that was a great video
I really enjoyed your video. Very well done. Lots of good pointers no wasted time.
I grew up fly fishing, and sadly I've gotten away from it over the years. I just wanted to take a moment and commend you on your catch and release techniques. It looks like you take good care of the fish you intend to release. Kudos. I watch a lot of videos of guys who purport to be outdoorsman who care about the environment, and I see a lot of trout that probably are not going to make it because of how poorly handled they've been. I think of the damage that these guys have with their large audiences, and it is exasperating
Very informative video, enjoyed it very much...retired couple making Maine our playground 🙂
How beauty it is! That fish! That view! I wish I could be there! ....cheers from Poland!:)
Man I'm glad I found this channel
Thank you for explaining i recently just started taking a liking to fishing and ive been going out more so ive been trying to figure it out and all and your video helped the most thank you!
Awesome. I live in East Tn. and I just recently retired and never caught a trout here. Lots of catfish, crappie, rock bass but never gave trout a decent try. Tomorrow I am gonna use your bobber method with a curly tail jig. Great info and thank you.
Matthew Stein thanks! Check out Everett Lures. I sell the weighted bobbers.
Great video on reading the water. Really liked it!!!
woah, this is the best video ive seen on this topic. very well explained with very easy to see visuals thanks
Awesome way to teach about seams and how to fish rivers great work!
Good advice! I always look at Google satellite maps, when going to unfamiliar river, to find that rapids and approaches to them
Great tips!! And awesome fishing!!
Great instructions!! You should make DVD's. Thanks for the video! Best of luck fishing.
Gunshot at 11:44? Some dude just got his dinner. Thanks for all the tips in the vid!!
No that was a settling of accounts. There's been a spree of trout stream gang violence lately. Be careful fishing in that vicinity.
Love your style of simplicity 👌sounded like somebody was taking pot shots at you ... maybe it’s hunting season
great video!!! have been trying to pin point some of the best spots while fly fishing on big fast rivers like South Fork in Eastern Idaho your videos have really helped me
Awesome! That was very helpful being I only ever fish for native brookies!
Very informative 🤘
Yes, covering ground is important. But every now and then, persistence pays off. Just last week I was after some pre-season browns on some clear, low water in Michigan. I was working a pool with a submerged log in it and got hit by an 18 inch brown but missed him. Spent the next 15 minutes trying to coax another bite, casting several dozen times. Finally, after deciding to move on, I took one more cast, only to get smacked by a 34 inch Steelhead that was down there too! Remember, a perfect cast is always rewarded 🎣
Very true. I usually come back on my way out to a place like that if I miss a good one and can’t get it to bite again
Great Video! Lucky for you there are plenty of trout in your area. If you come to New Jersey, you'll be lucky if you catch a 10" rainbow. They just don't stock enough fish in my State and the ones that they do stock are all caught and no release, catch and cook, very sad..
cool tips and nice trouts, thumbs up
this is a great video! nice rainbow!
good vid do you use single hooks on the lures and how do you get the net to unsnap
Deborah Durling I do. Check out www.everettlures.com and you can see all my Lures and the magnetic net release
Very informative - thanks!
Really nice explanation
What are some of your lure of choice out on the rivers?
Fantastic video for noobd like me. Much thanks man. :)
Nice fishing, what's that quick draw setup on your back for the net? Cool side cast at 8:21, it was like smoke was coming off your line :-)
evsta100 it's a magnetic net keeper. You attach one of the magnets to the net and one to your vest or jacket and a lanyard to the net so you don't lose it. By far the best and easiest setup I've used.
Thanks for the tip. Got one on order. That's going to be so convenient on the kayak and other places.
hell of a vid :-) explained really well about creases etc....whats the name of the river as im in the uk and dont know maine-does it have salmon ? if so which kind?
Great video...and really enjoy your channel.
New to fishing river trout. I learned alot from this video on reading water. How far in distance did you cover in this video over how long? Do you have good success with live bait?
This was probably about a half mile that I covered. I don’t use live bait usually
@@mainetroutwhisperer How do you determine what size spinner to use? Today I used a 1/16th and didnt feel it was getting deep enough especially since it is warmer in oregon and I think trout are in deeper areas...Thanks
Does this technique apply to steelhead trout as well?
Great video
