  • Last trip out this year fishing for some holdovers. Its tough, but very rewarding when you actually hook into one. Just a few tips and tricks that I use when fishing for trout in general....oh and I caught a COCKAH of a rainbow in this video. :)
    Gopro died before I could even use it today so I had to rely on the point and shoot. Sorry about the wind noise.

    I grew up with all women and unfortunately none of them fished and I've never fished. I'm 22 with 2 sons now. Thank you for teaching me this. My sons will learn everything I learn from your videos.

    Excellent video sir! The best I've seen about how to read flowing sections of water. Seams, rifles, pools, ledges, and drop offs. Boulders, stumps, and other under water structure. Casting and drifting sinking worm patterns to the top of the pool and letting it drift through, is one of my favorite things to do!

    Great tips here! I’m a bass fisherman from Texas, but spending some time this week fishing for trout in Colorado streams and rivers. These tips and explanations are great, although I think the water may be almost all white right now around Vail.

      1 What part of Texas
      2 why go to colorado to trout fish when we have one of the best trout fisheries in the country just north of you here in Arkansas.

      David Marklein - I fish around Dallas lakes for bass, but I was necessarily going to Colorado just to fish for trout. I was in Colorado for a family vacation, and tried trout fishing while I was there. I don’t plan on going on any other trout fishing trips, not because I don’t like it, but just because all my equipment is for bass. I lived in Arkansas for over 10 years, so I’m aware of the high quality trout waters there.

      @@FishingtheLoneStar Roger that.. I have done quite a bit of trout fishing up around Breckenridge, Blue River and Dillon mostly.. Nothing beats the white for monster Browns..
      Love me some Texas Bass too.
      Lake Palestine used to be a ptetty good spot back in the day.

    I grew up fly fishing, and sadly I've gotten away from it over the years. I just wanted to take a moment and commend you on your catch and release techniques. It looks like you take good care of the fish you intend to release. Kudos. I watch a lot of videos of guys who purport to be outdoorsman who care about the environment, and I see a lot of trout that probably are not going to make it because of how poorly handled they've been. I think of the damage that these guys have with their large audiences, and it is exasperating

    Yes, covering ground is important. But every now and then, persistence pays off. Just last week I was after some pre-season browns on some clear, low water in Michigan. I was working a pool with a submerged log in it and got hit by an 18 inch brown but missed him. Spent the next 15 minutes trying to coax another bite, casting several dozen times. Finally, after deciding to move on, I took one more cast, only to get smacked by a 34 inch Steelhead that was down there too! Remember, a perfect cast is always rewarded 🎣

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  3 роки тому

      Very true. I usually come back on my way out to a place like that if I miss a good one and can’t get it to bite again

    Great Video! Lucky for you there are plenty of trout in your area. If you come to New Jersey, you'll be lucky if you catch a 10" rainbow. They just don't stock enough fish in my State and the ones that they do stock are all caught and no release, catch and cook, very sad..

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  8 років тому +10

      evsta100 it's a magnetic net keeper. You attach one of the magnets to the net and one to your vest or jacket and a lanyard to the net so you don't lose it. By far the best and easiest setup I've used.
