im a spinner fisher(want to learn fly fishing eventually) and this video was great learned a ton i didnt know ive prolly spooked tons of fish without knowing it
Your welcome Scott and you will be happy to know that starting in March 2020, there is another 13 full episodes of the Orvis series coming with Tom Rosenbauer
This is an awesome video, thank you for having this out here. Fly fishing is one of those arts that is a completely different language and you've just translated this to 3rd grade English. Thank you.
Really appreciate your videos. These are very helpful to me. I've been fly fishing about 10 years now and figuring it out as I go...however I seldom catch fish. Hoping to change that this summer and these videos should help a lot. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips ....when I 1st started fishing salt water lagoons I had no clue where the fish would be so I just read the water in the lagoons like I would a trout river or stream and it worked out well and still does . I find a lot of halibut and spotted bass this way ..... another favorite species to fish for is the Corbina right off the beaches here in southern california .....we sight fish for them in the ankle deep water along the shores with crab patterns . I would like to see you make a video for Corbina one day ....lots of fun and the most challenging !
Everytime I go to Academy it's hard enough already to not buy fly fishing gear. After these videos... It's best for my finances that I just avoid any outdoors shops for awhile lol.
I hope you read this and reply. I fish a small fifteen..twenty acre city pond that is stocked with hatchery rainbows and browns once a year. I fish mainly with sixteenth oz jigs or manufactured bait. The water I fish...and the most productive is six..seven foot deep. I think it is fed by an underground stream. How will weather affect the depth the fish will be actively feeding at??
rick weather definitely has an impact, whether temperature or fronts (such as a storm). the fish will move in the water column based on these factors and also food. If you check out our Playlist focussed on stillwater fishing (lake fishing), Phil Rowley and others will help you a lot to understand where and why fish move in the water column
Very instructive vid but a little confused about one thing. At 7:02 he says trout are more likely to be "ahead" of the rock than behind it. Wouldn't they more likely be "behind" the rock, that is, downstream of the rock - where the current would be slower ???
Brian, not always, sometimes the use the "hydro cushion" created by the rock to ride on. you can view a video about this here: ua-cam.com/video/qafCab7oDw4/v-deo.html
@@marygulash7242 We use GoPro 7 cameras UW which are awesome. They have excellent light and focus capabilities compared to older versions. Hope this helps
great teacher. Video should have more views, but people are too lazy to watch a 20 minute video. They all want a 2 minute video to teach them how to catch trout
I love this channel, the content is informative and relaxing, however, being constantly interrupted by annoying commercials makes your content unwatchable. I can't make it through a video without several annoying interruptions.
Mac, thanks for the feedback. It is a tough balance to strike between advertising (needed to help pay for content) and not crossing the line and undermining our ability to deliver high-quality fly fishing videos. We just stopped using "unskippable ads" so viewers can skip thru ads they don't wish to watch, hope that helps. Thanks again for letting us know your opinion.
Every fisherman should see this. Not just fly fishermen. This is the foundation to a successful day on the water. Tom, you've done it again.

Luke Morter agreed, these are the things my dad taught me as a kid while fishing for brookies with worms. Brings back so many memories.

Oh - it is explained better between 9:00-10:00. Please ignore question above :-)

Can you tell me about the camera that you used
Not sure what camera you are referring to? The one used for shooting the show or the underwater camera?
The underwater one. Thank you

Can anyone guide me for good trout streams i live in Toronto any advice would be appreciated 😇

Under water ! Don't let em get behind your back.
when I fish it is to eat
Sharon Lee shut up sharon
So you arent a real fisherman then
disregard..yellowstone river...thought so..duh
If someone else nets your fish for you, you are not landing your own fish. You might as well have them tie on your fly and cast for you too!
