Loved the eagle since space 1999 came out. The series was nearly going to be a continuation of UFO. Keep up the great work Lou. Would love to see you tackle the 44” some time.
The Eagle turned out great Lou!! The final details really really makes it look as good as the filming miniature. I was thinking there may be some light involved before it was over. I hope you're satisfied with the Rustoleum clear matte. I too purchased a can from Wal Mart and it wasn't very flat. In fact I thought something was wrong with it. Even after an overnight dry it was rather glossy looking to me. Lowes carries Krylon spray. Another great build Lou, enjoyed it!!
This is one of my most favorite builds you have done lately Lou . Love the Eagle especially with this pod and the booster pack , the colors , shading and detail is amazing . Its hard to figure the issue there was between the Eagle design and the original design of the Millennium Falcon which lead to its change ., for the better obviously , but gave birth to the Blockade runner . The builders at ILM 40 years ago never heard of Space 1999 according to an interview with said designer . It was 1999 plus one and change Eagle to Falcon .
What a great finish to the Eagle. I can understand how you get a kick out of the way the decal carrier film just vanishes. I haven't built a model kit in years but I get one step closer to investing with each of your videos. Thanks a lot for sharing Lou 🤩
Pretty cool finale-- it is really nice how that final coat of clear flat turns the decals into paint. Indeed, still enthralling. I'm surprised you have not investigated the Valejo clears; they're supposed to be pretty good. Magnet switch-- I wonder if a piece of flat flexible magnet would have enough juice to activate one of those reed switches. The piece of sheet magnet could be cut into a panel shape. Then, you could put another magnet on the inside to hold that panel somewhere else when it's "off." Next year in Louisville!
Got addicted to watching your vids Friday night (and sometimes Saturday morning). I dabble with hotwheels mods for the Gaslands games and love to see an expert at work for inspiration.
Awesome build! I knew what was coming when you said you needed to go to Walmart and pick up more Krylon Flat. The exact same thing happened to me two weeks ago. My local store still sells the Krylon Acrylic Matt Finish though. It does a good job.
The original filming models (the bigger ones anyway) had removable landing leg modules too. That led to continuity issues when they were put back in the wrong places...
My local home depot hardware store did the same thing replaced krylon with Rust-Oleum paint...krylon is a better paint in my opinion Rust-Oleum takes longer to dry & somewhat feels tacky I'm going to check my local Walmart & see if they did the switch.. I hope not🤞🏾great job on that Eagle i will be starting mine soon👍🏾
Looks beautiful. Not to nitpick but the small black boxes on the cockpit top nose ridge are supposed to be space to space missile openings and are in line instead of staggered how you placed them.
It might not be too late but here is an idea and if you don't want to do it now you can do it in the future with another Eagle... Take a soda can and cut out a square 1 inch piece from the can and sand off the painted ink...clean the piece of Aluminum with alcohol and then measure how much off that square you'll need to bend around the spot where the Booster clips sits adding a millimeter or two...form the piece of Aluminum into a tube...where the ends meet of the cut out piece of Aluminum pry open to fit onto the Eagles spine frame...super glue it in place where the clips will sit and this will enable you to take off the Booster pack and put it back on without scrathing your paint. Let me know if you tried this and if it worked for ya.
Funniest thing about Eagle kits is when you take off the nose cone and see the two pilots bolted to the bulkhead. It looks... somewhat unsafe for them!
Build quality looks really nice but I really think that space 1999 should have left the maneuvering thrusters off of the lab module. That just doesn't make sense.
Just wanted to say that I got back into modeling after a 30 year hiatus when Round 2 brought out the 22" Eagle and I discovered your channel back then. I built that kit as is straight from the box to see if I still had what it took to build a kit. My eyes aren't what they were and my hands shake, but I can get the job done. I've got this new Eagle 2 kit and I'm going to try and give it my best shot. By the way, where do you keep all the models you build? Have you got your own building for them? Just wondering. You must have quite a collection.
Great model! The detail work including the small decals truly enhances the vehicle.
I always loved the design of these spacecraft. Way ahead of it’s time.
Great looking eagle. And first time I’ve been reminded of Bambi meets Godzilla in years!
This build came out great Lou.

Great to watch. It’s you’re first video I’ve seen so I’ll go back and watch the earlier parts of the build.

I have tried the Vallejo clears. the flat is too cloudy. it's not a "clear" as the big spray cans. It's more akin to the "Dust" color.
@@aztekdummy Drat! Oh well...

Another great build, Lou. My wife has started watching your videos with me. She said your voice sounds very kind. Take care and stay safe!
Thank you for that. And thank your wife. What a lovely compliment
Beautiful looking Eagle. Looks just right. Lots of details to draw the eye to different areas.
yes as ugel great stuff just little light in it does hole model post wuill see
Wow! That came out great! Another amazing vid, Lou!
Another great build Lou!
Really like it! You are very talented.
That wording on the decals sound more like lines from Queens Bohemian Rhapsody :)
Yeah- I wonder if there are references somewhere to “ thunderbolts of lightening, very very frightening be” and “Galileo”
Yes they are, therefore someone's inside joke - I don't remember this song being mentioned, or referenced in the show, so I wouldn't use them!
um lou ya didnt paint the head thrusters,,,

nice work the kit and build look great

Turned out great! That one decal that you bragged on seems to be coming undone at the bottom. lol. Have a good week, man!

Where was that referenced?
Ah well, I guess mine has two rows of those missile openings since, tho staggered, they do line up on each side
@@aztekdummy maybe the old technical blueprints. I always have remembered those holes described as "space to space" missiles.

geeze that sounds like a lot of work... I think I'd rather just bury some magnets in the frame and be done with it
@@aztekdummyLol Looks like a lot in writing but can be done very easly, I've done something like this before only took not even 20 minutes.
@@aztekdummy Was trying to help you out with that small problem bud.
Your local Napa can get your Krylon products Lou.
Get yourself some decal softener!
This will enable you to wrap and fold them easily
The lights make that kit really pop" .

Sweet my favorite ship Awesome
Beautiful kits! I wish we had new Space 1999 series!
Hi Lou,
Love the videos! What kind of glue do you use? Is it Tenax?
Its straight methylethylketone. MEK. I just put it in a old tenax bottle .
Is it toxic?
Next to the Enterprise, she’s the greatest Starship design ever, then No.3?
The Whitestar from Babylon 5.
Inspired me to buy one to build myself.
Have you tried decanting your spray paint to get the remaining paint out of the can.
Can it fly?

what's worse are the doors that couldn't possibly open :)
Beautiful!
with the Moon Artemis project will be back
