Love seeing the model. As a little kid, I can remember watching the show and loving the eagle ships. The show gave me nightmares of crashing on the moon. I can remember staying up all night with my dad listening and watching the last lunar mission and thinking i can’t wait for NASA to launch eagle landers to the moon.
Looking good! I also had problems with that same section. Glad I wasn't the only one. I ended up weathering mine pretty heavy. I figured all that moon dust would make those Eagles a lot dirtier!
Nice progress Boyd on the Eagle. Occassionaly I reverse the parts as well when its shown upside down or inverted on the instruction sheet. Enjoy your extended Thanksgiving weekend.
Great project and very helpful tips! I did the 14" Eagle and all that surface area really added up. It was a lot of paint. I like your Wicker White choice. If you can find "Pearl White" craft paint I have found it looks amazing when mixed with your base white. It pops on an Eagle if you use it on certain panels.
Thanks Boyd !! As per usual you have a great build going and the dishwashing detergent tip is very useful.looking forward to seeing the model taking shspe.Happy Thanksgiving !!
I have to say I also took my Time building my 14 inch thankfully all the parts fit really good I only had small issues but my eagle turn out nice I was happy... I've wanted this ship for a long time so much fun to build 😉 happy Thanksgiving to you Boyd and family gobble gobble lol 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃
Mark belsom + yes your right what that is used to mount the model on a motion control rig I seen the making of space 1999 and it showed Brian Johnson getting one of the 22"inch eagle for filming
Pretty early on in my modeling I began tailoring wash colors to the surface. For instance instead of using black on a green/brown camo scheme I'd use dark green and dark brown. That kept false shadows from looking like oil spills, grime etc. The Eagle however is intended to be viewed as if under unfiltered raw sunlight on the Moon or in space, so shadows will be harsher, and going with the gray I would have used in an Earthbound subject would be inappropriate.
That was a MUST WATCH after the cartoons on Saturdays
Great tip Boyd. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family🦃
That's a great tip. Keeps the wash from migrating to the sides.
Loved 'Maya'!!!

There is a tube that goes in the centre of the engine section which attaches to the rear walkway.
True, the tube fits into the slot that he filled in. The two small holes above and below the slot could be filled with no problem.

What scale is that? I have never seen an Eagle model that huge.
It's 1/48 scale, half the size of the original filming model.
I wanna get this kit
