MSM, and collagen, and yeast-cleanse (for systemic candida that can inflame the joints), & probiotics ...among many other things (like Lycine & Zinc to combat viruses that can also hide in our joints), have been a God-send for my arthritis... plus giving up sugar that feeds the bacteria & other badies that hang out in our joints as we age. Also, try giving up gluten, it helped my inflammation response quiet down tremendously. Unfortunately, many of us develop 'allergies' or can no longer properly digest certain foods as we age like we did when we were young. Just suggestions ..not a diagnosis.

I find Stephanie's historical/cultural info. as interesting and wonderful as that English historian I used to watch on TV, Michael Wood. Although Stephanie's vlogs don't allow for an hour-long format on just history I really appreciated her curating those spicy little bits of historical and cultural drama that keep us engaged & fascinated to investigate on our own further. 😍🧐🤓

The short jacket is Haori, the long robes are Yukata, not Kimono which is a much more formal robe requiring and Obi belt. Just for anyone interested.
I really loved this footage. I've always been a great admirer of this periods woodblock prints, and especially those depicting life and landscaped in snowfall and rainfall, so seeing it in the rain like this was superb!
I'm enjoying this travel vlog immensely. ❤ 🙏

I, too, am enjoying this travel vlog. Since they were so close to Nagano, I hope that they also visited the Hokusai Museum in Obuse about half an hour out of Nagano. The Hokusai Museum is the workshop of the famous woodblock artist from the Edo period named Hokusai. He was famous for the iconic giant wave we associate with Japan. It is called the Giant Waves off Kanagawa.

I love how Stephanie tells us all about the Toyer and everything else with so much knowledge. She is an absolute natural. Even if she is reading some of it by doing a voiceover when editing (which I don't think she is), you'd never know.

When she’s talking on camera, it’s not voice over, you know when it’s voiceovers when it’s playing b roll, she’s just always been great at remembering detailed information like this if you go back and watch all her older videos, I’m just glad she didn’t run off years ago and do some travel show with some big production company as a career which she very well could have with her star quality, and instead chose to keep doing her vlogs here… we are so lucky, especially since she says she plans on doing them thru till she’s old & gray, we’re here for it, Steph! lol 😋🥰

I worked for Sanyo many years. Osaka ,& Kyoto were where we stayed many times.. Have you experienced the authentic pillow? Made of soy beans, most uncomfortable ! We were told to take our bed pillow with us if we want a good night sleep. Which meant going north we would run the risk of soy pillows. Notice how thin the trees are and close together? It was purposed to slow down invaders.

Your travel diaries are so so delightful. There’s info, there’s scenic beauty, there’s whimsy, there’s humour, there’s bringing it back to your own chateau, both with the architecture and also with Marie’s cuisine.
Things I took from this video was the availability of inclement weather wear, not necessarily kimonos but maybe shower proof jackets and umbrellas to be borrowed. Let’s face it it’s not always sunny in France! Even in summer! 😀 maybe having a few jackets and umbrellas that hadn’t thought ahead might be a good idea!
As for all that lacquerware I could not have restrained myself. I would have bought lots and gotten Marie to undertake a lesson in Ikebana which I think would suit her floral style.
Continuing with the lacquerware, I do hope you bought some hair combs and decorated hair pins. I used to love your hair up with the pins you had until they broke early last summer.
As always, love and such joy at what you share with us from Neil in Australia 🇦🇺

Stephanie, you are such a natural host/tour guide…you shared a piece of the world i never had much interest in visiting but you may have changed my mind. Those trees! I hope Michael was able to get some shots of the giant bonsai trees.

The ice cream mochi you like it’s called daifuku
Unfortunately the only shop that still makes lacquered goods in Narai Juku is Hananoya, they are not cheap but I’ve had mine for years and it’s still beautiful. The other shops mostly sell trinkets from China or Vietnam.

I am SO loving this series! I'm from the US, and as our Christmas gift to our sons, on News Year Day, we flew our 27 year old son out to Tokyo to visit our 23 year old son that is with the US Navy and he's stationed there. They spent 2 weeks traveling these areas.......Tokyo, Nagano, Kyoto, Nara, and Hakone (to see Mt. Fuji). They had fun but were exhausted!
