The Xbox One S is an upgrade even for people with only 1080p tvs. The gpu is more powerful in the S, the controller is improved, the unit uses less power and is smaller. I am very happy that I upgraded to it.

PC gamer here. I also bought the console for the 4K player. Coming from 2560x1440p gaming, its not all that bad. Already have a collection of games for it. now just waiting for my 360 games to get fully backwards compatible to revisit. Great video man, thanks.

I don't think it's because of your 4k TV. I think the Xbone S just has more power. Upscaling 1080P onto a 4K TV doesn't make things look better. Maybe your TV is better quality?
If you get the Xbox One S with a free game, it isn't a bad deal. As a 4K $300 Netflix box, it sure beats the NVIDIA shield TV. Plus, you get a $60 controller that you can use on your PC.

I use my controller for my pc and phone all the time. it's awesome to use with emulators and games on the fly. Ill take the controller with me to work sometimes and turn my phone into a mini gaming station during lunch.

How does this beat Nvidia shield TV ? Nvidia shield TV you can stream PC games at 60FPS from Nvidai cloud plus you can stream from your own gaming PC direct to your 4K TV at 60 FPS using the in home stream. So no it does not beat Nviida TV it is just a weak crappy console in white for a low low price that is all.
I just got the one with the Minecraft bundle, and in addition, I got an extra controller and Forza Horizon 3. As for the subscription, don't forget that this also gets you 4 free games every month, and they are usually worth much more than the monthly cost itself! Add in the 4k support, blu ray, player, and the incredible job it does when upscaling standard dvd's, I think it's an amazing machine for the money! BTW - don't think I'm a noob to gaming - I've owned more gaming pc's than I can remember, and several of them have been top line Alienware rigs.

I think its worth it if you already have a PC. You can fully utilize gamepass, watch movies in 4k without getting a blue ray player, playing games that are not on PC yet or just aren't optimised well on PC, plus a controller and many backwards compatible titles not available on PC.
I really want to play games on my gaming PC. Games that make full use of my high spec hardware and 4K monitor. However, there aren't any games that do that. I only get the advantage of a higher resolution. So now I'm playing games like Dishonored 2 on the Xbox rather than PC, just because I'm too comfortable on my sofa. Consoles are still holding back the development of higher quality graphics, and it's still pissing me off.
not sure if this is corrected or not but you can use your TV remote to control the Xbox one as well. Similar to how it's done on the PS4 if you don't want to pick up the joystick for media navigation. This works on my Samsung 70in UHD HDR at least.

Crackhead jack WITHOUT going in depth, the best way to understand upscaling is by thinking about the example of UA-cam upscaling. Whenever you put a UA-cam video in fullscreen it has been UPSCALED from the smaller image. WITH going mildly in-depth, essentially the way it works is if you have say a 1080p image and you want to display it on a 4K tv/monitor, then what happens is it 'fills in' the extra pixels by 'copying' the same colour pixel multiple times until it fits the 4K display. This will result in an image that looks BETTER but not AS good as a native 4K image, meaning an image that was originally taken in 4K.

i have a xbox one s and my own 4k 1080p 200hz HDR in my room if u have the right tv u will get unbelievable graphics but I recommend and 1080p tv
