    I just purchased the CANAM hd 10 XT, AND I AM LOVING IT! I had a 2017 POLARIS GENERAL, and had many, many problems! Polaris doesn't really care after you purchase.
    I have had CANAM before, and never had any problems. I think when you purchase, you better have a dealer that will help you if you do have any problems. I have found when buying something like a car or UTV/ATV, you can have the best sales person, and best price, but if they don't have a good service dept. then they are not a good dealer!

      I hear ya and will keep that in mind on the Canam. I bought a Honda 400ex years ago and had engine problems and the dealer I bought it from was awesome during the purchase but once it started having problems they were useless!

    I’ve owned 2 Polaris quads, lots of headaches with both. Bought a defender hd8 last spring and love it. Can Am all the way.

      We ended up going with the Polaris but a 1000. Drove it everyday and only had the shifter cable replaced. Worked well for us during the 3+ years we had it.

    Look at a sub compact tractor for your land, those are more of a luxury units in my opinion. Tractor's are way more versatile.

      We have a lot more we will be using it for than just on the property, this makes more sense for what we are looking for :)

    I was just in your situation and after driving them both the Polaris was an easy choice, and I'm so glad I made it, I love my Ranger. Good luck with whatever you choose.

    I subbed hope y’all decide on the can am never really seen one in action before I’ve had a polaris ranger 900xp it caught on fire and burned to the ground because of sticks and leaves(that’s what polaris said) and I currently own a honda pioneer 2017 1000-5 deluxe and it is the best quality machine ever!!!

    Go with the Polaris after owning a Can am I now wished I bought the Polaris 1000 XP but I got the 1000 Commander its almost 2 years old with just over 700 km on it. My Problem was fuel pump I took 3 months for the dealer to listen to me and do something about it as the after sales service at the dealer does not exist just my 2 cents worth

      Thanks, I will keep that in mind for sure. I was leaning toward the Polaris too.

    At least the Can-am's aren't catching on fire. They also seem to stay away from the repair shop a bit better than the Polaris. JMHO

      We ended up getting a Polaris 1000, had it for a few years and used it daily, only issue we had was the shifter cable broke, other than that, our experience has been good.

    I believe I would go with the Can Am. if you are looking for long life Can Am seems to be the way to go, but if you are looking for a comfortable ride go with the Polaris. I don't own one myself, but have friends that do and they seem to have really good luck with Can Am! When I replace my Kawasaki ATV I am pretty sure I will be replacing it with a Can Am! In all honesty both look great!

    • @MBFModernHomesteading
      @MBFModernHomesteading  6 років тому

      Thats funny you say that Polaris for the comfortable ride because I found the opposite to be true, with the Can-am being more comfortable and easy handling :) But you're right, they do both look great and probably can't go wrong either way.

  • @ronhart4166

    JMO , I would put my money into a Back hoe or a bobcat. Something with useful implements for the homestead. These things are just glorified GOLF CARTS. Heck for 20 grand you could buy a used tractor and a GOLF CART !! :)

    • @MBFModernHomesteading
      @MBFModernHomesteading  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for the input but we will be using it for a lot more than just on the homestead as we are surrounded by trails and much more other uses we want it for than just on the homestead alone. It will be used for A LOT of other activities. :)

    That’s pretty high for a used Polaris. I just bought a 1000 ranger hunter addition and it was just over 20k Canadian. I found a great 2015 ranger 900 for $13500 with just over 200km. There are way better deals out there if ur not in a hurry to buy. I love my ranger. I did test drive the defender but I didn’t like it as much as the ranger. I put over 1000 km on mine this Summer with zero issues. It has a 3” lift and 28” tires. Log into prcforum.com lots of good info there on what to buy and just general info on rangers.

    • @MBFModernHomesteading
      @MBFModernHomesteading  6 років тому

      Not when you consider all the accessories suck as AC and heat, winch, fully enclosed cab, huge front and rear brush guards, and some other stuff.

    • @erniepelley9554
      @erniepelley9554 6 років тому +1

      Andrew Fritz To me it seems high. I would never buy a used ranger for 20k. But I understand there’s probably 4-5 k worth of extras. I have a similar set up.

    Look into maintenance and general upkeep prices of both. That's a good selling point. Are there any dealerships near by for parts?
    What about a subcompact tractor?

    • @MBFModernHomesteading
      @MBFModernHomesteading  6 років тому

      I will be using for a lot more than just on the property so the tractor is out. I did check out as far as parts go though and they are pretty available for either model within an hour or so. Thanks for the input :)

    go with the new Polaris ranger they improved the clutch and put on a stronger belt from the maverick, gave it more ground clearance and tighter turn radius, plus a more comfortable ride. but that ranger 900 has the cab already that alone is very expensive, tough choice it depends on how deep your wallet is lol. o and if you get the Polaris 900 be sure to have check the wheel bearing Polaris utv's are known for them going bad.

    Polaris in my opinion. AND you get a baby and momma? definitely LOL 19.9 is about 15,620 USD and I don't guess that's too much I mean way out of what I am buying right now but still not bad. Maybe get them both and gift one to H2OKFarm? haha. Thanks for sharing -#Vlarmer Nate

    Drove both , can-am seems a lot better off road and ranger smoother on trail . Can-am seem more responsive than the ranger 1000. Never owed a can-am , but this ranger is alway messed up, over heating, belt going out clutch being replaced . May try a can_am or Honda . Anybody have real info, I would like to hear, just no fan boy BS

    Reliability = canam ?? Really lol ive seen lots of canam riding in trails and half the time u pulling them back to the trucks lol i own myself a sportsman with 45 hrs on it... propably 23 hrs of 45 was for towing back the canams at the trucks...i would never buy a canam ... expensive unreliable machines... btw my sportsman is my second one... my first one last me 17 years and the only thing i changed on it was belt.brakes pads and oil... 19 500 km...
