    I wish you guy's did a review on this, when you guy's first cracked it open & tried it. I feel robbed of the experience you guy's had 😅😅
    Definitely need a re review video!

    This was on the shelf @ $350.00 Canadian here in Edmonton Alberta. Scotch was on sale at 20% off so I paid 280.00 plus 5% got. Or $294.00 Cdn. I can’t wait to taste it.

    Having another bottle tonight with friends...pairing with Ramon Allones Gigantes. We’re celebrating a year anniversary of a friends church launch. Love this one to share with those new to scotch, like cigars, and transitioning from bourbon. Why? You can pick out nuances and flavors SO easily.

    Guys loved your appraisal - going to buy my husband a bottle for his birthday in 2 weeks. My father was James McKenzie so I love this connection

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  5 років тому +1

      WOW! Really cool. So, your father James is related to Andrew & Charles of the MacKenzie Brothers Company? That's some pretty neat history! We're pretty big fans of Dalmore and hope to someday sample some of that old stuff (Constellation Collection)! Glad you stopped by to watch our review of this one. It was our very first 4 (out of 4)! Looking back the only thing I can ding it for now is probably more our fault, but we noticed once it got down below a third of a bottle we let it sit for too long and it lost its luster. We're much better now about keeping an eye on our bottles and once they get to a certain level they get moved to the "kill" shelf! :-) Thanks again, ~Mark

      @@Scotch4Dummies @Mark what do you mean "Let it sit for too long"?? Are you talking about letting it sit in your glass too long?
      You guy's let it sit in the bottle too long? If so, I thought scotch is safe in the bottle? I fear putting scotch in a decanter, that air might hit it over time. I notice you guy's don't use Decanters...why? That's a nice topic for a show too.
      But yea just a little more clarification, I would appreciate it before I spend $350 on this bottle. 😄😄😄
      Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the review, guys! Interesting note about it not being the most expensive bottle in your bar, but still being your favorite. What else do you have in your bar that is in the $200-300 dollar range?

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 років тому

      +doctor594 Thanks for watching! The bottles on our bars change quite a bit. We like to finish one and replace it with something new. We just finished a bottle of Macallan Rare Cask. I'm not sure what we had on the bar when we reviewed the king but currently in the $200 range we have Dalmore 18 and Octamore 7.1 that will be getting a review soon.

    It has a lot of influences but I don't think it is too over-crowded, you can tasted many of the flavours. I reviewed this too if you want to see how mine compares guys :)

    S4D, I'm watching your review again. I think I'm going to pick up the Bruichladdich Laddie 22 unpeated bottle for $125 along with the Dalmore King for $145... I have the Dalmore 18 from a recent purchase and I would give it a "3" on your scale. I just like to make sure before I pull the trigger. I need to review some more videos.

      Those are good prices! We may have to come visit you and pick up a few bottles to bring back home. Would enjoy hearing your thoughts on both if you buy them. -Shawn

      S4D, Shawn those prices are from Master of Malt. Going to do a little more research on the Bruichladdich. I've heard nothing but good things about the King.

    Wow, $300 for a NAS scotch. In my opinion the whole idea of an aged whisky is to justify cost. Yes, a NAS scotch can taste great. I just picked up the Aberlour A'bunadh batch 50 which is a NAS scotch and it is fantastic. Although I paid $79 for the bottle. I do have the Dalmore 12 and paid about $45 and it is good, but I will tend to stick to aged whisky unless otherwise.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 років тому +1

      +Keith Petersen Can't argue you point about age & price, but trust us on the King....IT IS GOOD!

    • @keithpetersen560
      @keithpetersen560 8 років тому +1

      +Scotch 4 Dummies I trust you guys and you mention that you judge other whiskies to the Dalmore King. I do have a budget and this is where it comes to a point for me. How much better can the next whisky be compared to the Glenfiddich 21 or Balvenie 21. Is it worth an extra $100. That is what I have to decide. Have you tried the Highland Park 25? That might surpass your Dalmore King. But again, the HP 25 is about $600

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  8 років тому

      +Keith Petersen Completely agree Keith. Price definitely comes into play and honestly some of these bottles we're reviewing we can only afford as we're pitching in together to get....but now you're killing us as we have to figure out how to get our hands on the HP25.... ;-)

    • @keithpetersen560
      @keithpetersen560 8 років тому

      +Scotch 4 Dummies Master of Malts sells Hp 25 700ml I believe. Honestly I have not had the HP 25. I've heard good things and here is the review from Bevmo. 100 PTS 2013 ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLANGE! I have the HP 18 and its good, but it just went up in price $26 which I think is overpriced. Personally I would probably buy 3 really good $200 bottles instead. I just picked up Glenfarclas 25 yr for $149 and Glendronach 21 yr Parliamant for $189. I have not opened them, waiting for a special occasion.

    Watched this video again. Had to laugh at Andrew trying to pour equal amounts of the King in 4 different kinds of glasses. :-)) There is no similarity at all between these glasses. I believe Drew ended up with the biggest pour and Andrew just had to top off his glass. LMAO! I know this is only review 9, but you got to love it. You dummies have come a long way like me.....Oh by the way, TWE has the Dalmore King for $168.51 :-)))))))

      Glad to see we're not the only ones that find humor in our reviews! We have come a long way and really tried to improve our quality, but without compromising fun! We've discussed holding off on buying new bottles until we have enough to buy multiple bottles to bring the S/H down per bottle.... ;-)

      S4D, Nice. TWE provides a chart showing s/h by weight. That should help. Let me know what you decide to buy.

    I know this was a year ago, and you guys are much better now, but do you regret declaring a whisky the best whisky "hands down". Love the reviews btw.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  7 років тому +2

      At the time, NO. But, as you have pointed out we've got a few more scotches under our belt now and it does get tougher and tougher to declare one "THE BEST". Now that being said, this is still one of (if not the) favorites for all 4 of us. But, I think what's happening is we are all becoming more and more situational scotch drinkers. In other words we all like various scotches for various times, places... And if someone says "well what if you had to chose just one"...we'd respond with "Thank God we don't!" :-) ~Cheers
