Great video! I ordered mine with the perforated leather and suede as well on my 2014 f150 The stitching and time is my only issue right now. I know I’ll do a good stitching job, but I’ll have to put my whole day aside for it haha
WOW! I was going to purchase one of these covers for my Mercedes. But after watching this video and seeing how incredibly complex and involved it is I said no way. I'm glad I found this video BEFORE I made the purchase.
It's a lot easier than you think. This guy did the most complex way possible lmao. Check some other videos out. I just did my Chevy Silverado and I did it in an afternoon over the weekend. You definitely don't need to dismount the steering wheel.
Id love to see a video for this process on a 2nd Gen (2005-2015) Nissan Xterra! Is removing the airbag and steering wheel really necessary? I have this crazy fear something will bump the wrong way and the airbag will explode in my face.
It’s still doing quite well! Mild staining on the white stitching, but nothing major and I haven’t tried to clean it. The material is still in great shape
Just ordered this for my personal car went with the suede and carbon fiber with blue stitching with a blue 12 o clock point. Can’t wait because it’s my first wheel and I’m redoing my entire interior anyway
That’s something I haven’t tried, I’d imagine it’d be okay. You may have to carefully use some adhesive removal though. It’s worth a test on a scrap piece of material
No, Don’t remove the old leather! I did it on my first wheel and the cover was loose. I had to find another wheel because east takes the thickness of the original leather into account when the make the cover.
Ive noticed every single East Detailing demo is always on a simple wheel without any leather wings. These covers look nice, but the one I got for my Type-R is cut too loose, the thread gets so twisted after a few passes the thread knots up. I regret buying from them, and it really sucks because theyre expensive.

i super glued the ends after i was finished on the underneath of the steering wheel cover
I’m glad I found this video, just so happen to be working on the same steering wheel! Mines out of a Mazda protege5
Glad it helped! I love these mazda wheels
Thank you so much! I was looking for a super customizable wheel. And your link helped out. Definitely used that code
Excellent video, thanks for taking the trouble.
Where did you get the ball mount you used to hold your wheel in the video?
looks super cool!!!
Thanks my man!

It certainly takes some time and patience. Best of luck with it!
Took me hours, had to redo the whole top area but on the redo I was 2-3x faster so it wasn't too bas

If you cant do it just say so
It’s not hard you’re just lazy
Not for the rookies
Man that’s a shame- all it requires is some patience! If I can do it I know you can. I’m an idiot! 😂
I went with carbon fibre but in hindsight I'd probably go with suede at the top and bottom just because carbon fibre can look a little flashy
Where can I get that mount at to hold it while working?
my blob sti is in dire need of this
It makes a nice improvement in feel and look! I’m thinking about doing the wheel in my 92X Aero, it could use it too!
@@CashedOutCars ill be ordering soon with your code ! great channel BTW
Nice work!!

Nope, keep the wheel in the car. That’s what 90% of ppl do, this dude just did it WAY more complicated than you should.
How is the material holding up after almost a year? Have oils and sweat degraded the areas that you hold on to most?
It’s still doing quite well! Mild staining on the white stitching, but nothing major and I haven’t tried to clean it. The material is still in great shape
Good tricks all. Thank you. Wish it was easier to pull the wheel off.
Glad it helped!

how did you thread and knot the needle? i notice you had a one strand stitch on it but all the videos i found online only show double strand
The instructions tell you exactly what to do
looks awesome. Top job
Thanks my man!
I want to do my steering in my new 2000 Toyota celica
Go for it!
Anyone go thru with this? I have 0 stitching experience but am interested in the product since my steering wheel is peeling.
It certainly takes time and patience but can be done with no experience
What if i want to remove the tape later is the wheel damaged?
That’s something I haven’t tried, I’d imagine it’d be okay. You may have to carefully use some adhesive removal though. It’s worth a test on a scrap piece of material
Great video. Do you have to or should remove the old leather on the steering wheel? I have a 3rd gen 4runner
Thanks! This company’s kits are made to go over the old wrap, I think it wouldn’t fit right if you did remove what’s there

Nice video! They use genuine leather not synthetic, correct?
I believe they list as leather, but I’m pretty confident it’s vinyl
@@CashedOutCars Correct it is NOT real leather!
Looks great! I'm also in need of doing this for my NB wheel!
It makes a huge difference! Good luck with it if you go for it!
@@CashedOutCars where did you get that device that mounts your wheel to the table top for easier access of working on it?
Super dopee vid 👌
Thanks my friend!
You dont need to remove the old cover? Example: my sti steering wheel has old leather and stitching on it. Do i need to remove that one or no
These are made to go over the factory cover!
Do I Poke a whole in the steering wheel cover as shown in the directions ?!?!

No poke into an existing hole'

Sucks man. I would've asked flr a refund. Mine almost didnt work. But i made it work. Looks decent. Only i would be able to notice the issues.
How dose the suede material hold up?
It held up great so far, but it hasn't seen a ton of time in the sun
What did you use to restore the airbag trim? Thanks!
Hi! I used Mothers Back to Black: amzn.to/3uKYXbK (affiliate link). This product works great for restoring plastic trims that have faded!
What’s the name of the stitches?
and not a single mention of the professional grade steering wheel stand you happen to have... They just have those at princess auto right? 😂😂
My dad may or may not do automotive upholstery professionally, hes got some nice tools like this
would u be intrested in me sending u my wheel with the kit and paying u to do mine for me ? i have a bmw f10 m5 wheel

Yeah i’m paying someone to put mine on hehe i dont have this patience
Understandable, this takes a long time!
you could have got a better fit of the leather if you had first removed the old leather
These East Detailing kits are specifically designed to go over the existing wrap. Some kits may not be though!

Anyone has a secret about Stitching patterns?
2001 Toyota Solar convertible
Too bad my needles snapped. I’m now stuck
You can get new needles, but that definitely is unfortunate
Why not just use 3M glue instead of tape
You certainly can, as long as it has a long enough working time to move it into place.
Be careful to order from this East detailing is been 3 months and still not receiving my order poor communication not recommended
🔥 𝓟Ř𝔬𝓂𝔬𝐒ϻ
Hell naw this thing is WAY too much work. WAY TOO MUCH WORK
It certainly does take a long time!
And never remove the old damaged cover 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
No need to, it won’t be seen again and this company patterns their wraps to go over them
Why is your voice so weird?
