    A very common issue with the MX5 is the side windows, over time they get stiff and hard to use so fix the problem today.
    This only cost me £20!!!!!!!!!

    I just did it on my NB with power windows, everything is exactly the same. On my car, the insert you screw the bushing onto had gotten loose and fell off inside the door so the screw was wiggling in direct contact against the glass whenever i tryed to move the window up and down, so over time it gnawed the thread and I had to rethread the screw to put it back

    THANKS!! Nice clear instructions and easy to follow. BUT ..... I've found some little bits of glass, which tells me that at some time in the past, the window has been smashed. Now, whoever replaced the window has not done a very good job. The original bush was no longer connected to the window and was sitting at the bottom of the guide rail. (I have the new bush from Moss.) Also, the two plastic "window stoppers" are completely missing. Now I just have to find them and the metal bits that the bush screws onto! Any ideas??

      thank you. 🥲😯how could someone do that, knowing that they are leaving glass in there and do half a job.

    Hi mate, absolutely excellent video. I did this yesterday to my driver's side door, but now my window is even slower and gets completely stuck in the middle. Any idea what I might've done wrong? The only thing I can think of is I used silicone spray grease in the guide rail for the new delrin bushing, should I have used a different kind of grease?

    • @Project380
      @Project380  8 місяців тому

      two things to check, check the rail at the rear of the door and the rail the mech runs in isnt bent kinked or damaged and then check the weather seal that the window runs in at the front of the door

    • @bradyryall6105
      @bradyryall6105 3 місяці тому

      There's a cable inside the door that is held clear of the window by a plastic clip. The plastic clip attaches to the hole in the door that is 3-4 inches forward of the interior door handle. If the clip breaks or pops out, the cable can get caught on the bottom of the window, slowing it or stopping it partway down.

    • @Project380

      im afraid your going to have to struggle with a spanner and work blind. put your hand up into the door and feel for the free bolts, then take the window out

    I have electric windows on my Mk1, and they are stuck fully up.
    I was going fo trynthenswitches, but doing research into motors and bushings etc. too.
    Are the steps the same?
    Asking because i dint have a winder to manually firce the window to 50%

    • @Project380
      @Project380  3 місяці тому +1

      ok your best bet will be to remove the motor and wires from the door but still connected to everything apart from the door, pull the motor though the access hole then remove the motor from the mech. you should not have much resistance with the motor off so hopefully be able to force the window down a bit

      @@Project380 cheers for the reply. You're response terrified me 😂 (I've only had this car a few weeks and never worked on one before)
      Alas, I had the centre console apart yesterday, managed to clean the switches and the windows now function.
      However they are still slow, so I'm assuming this video could still come in handy. Would the fact I have electric windows change any assembly or location of some parts?
      I don't want any nasty surprises since I really have no clue what I'm doing 😂
      Only asking because your car has manual windows, and I imagine the motors on mine take up a fair bit of space.

      @@mikes8155 well first of all, welcome to the wonderful world of mx5 ownership
      yes your right its probably the bushings or a worn cable which ive also done a video on if you get stuck
      the only real difference is there is a motor instead of a winder

      when it comes to why your motors are slow yes. That grease that hardens makes the sliders gunk up. I hit it with some pb blaster to loosen it up and it helped. but if u clean the rails even without takin them out with something. then spray in some silicone lube should help the windows alot.
