- In this video I completely disassemble the doors and window mechanism so I can clean it up, replace window bushings and lubricate the mechanism. Two minute tutorial to remove regulators and fix slow windows starts at 7:42

2 min tutorial starts 7:42
Great video, Skip to 7:40 for the excellent 2 minute guide. You don't need to remove the motor, the main runner can be removed carefully with the motor attached to the door. I used White Lithium grease on the main runners and Silicon spray on the black 'rubbers' and it makes a noticeable difference. Thank you
That's ok, happy to be able to help. The white grease is a good shout because after a year or so mine have started to slow again by just using the silicon spray
Thank you! I'm a complete car noob (still working on my license!), but I just fixed my windows that were originally even worse than your "before" state. Really appreciate the 2-minute quick reference, I kept coming back to it!
Just one question: how did you manage to get the regulator out? It didn't really seem possible to get it past the rubber channel for me (I ended up just letting the rail hang by the cables with the regulator still inside, which made cleaning it quite annoying). My car is a '95, so my door is a bit different, but still, it seems like I'm missing something...
Thanks heaps for this! Great little tutorial. Showing the location of every bolt clearly is really useful (I'm sure it will become very obvious when I do it, but it's good to be clear before starting).
That's ok 🙂 glad I can help
My windows are the EXACT same speed as yours before 😂 even with the little help getting it up at the end lol.
Nicely done!👍🏼
Great video! Lovely Eunos too! Cool wheels.
This video will help a lot when I get round to doing the same.
I was wondering if you ventured into cleaning and re-greasing the regulator cables?
Wondered if servicing that and it’s pulleys would help speed up the operation?
I’ll look into it when I do it.
Thanks again for the video
Very helpful. Thanks.
good vid! came in very useful. Cheers!
Great video mate! Very helpful and also able to preorder the bushes before disassembly
No problem. I'm not sure if I'd choose spray on lube again. My left window has started to squeak. I've heard white grease is good
I think it will even better if you remobe tjose old doorwindow seals/strips, mine are really hard and press against the window and actuslly cause scratches on them!
2 minutes??
Nvm
I just bought a nice MX-5 NB with windows even slower than your “before” parts. Would taking them apart to clean them work the same as it would on your NA?
Great job mate but music or loud, soldier on
Great video mate 😎
Great vids man, I have this issue at the moment too. Did you get the Delrin window bushes? Or OEM?
jenicm01 thank you and I got the ones from moss Europe so I think they're the delrin ones
Yep, those are definitely delrin. I have the same set from Moss. It's such a simple little fix, but makes a huge difference with your driving experience. As far as grease goes, any lube will work as long as it's waterproof - like the silicone lube that you used. The thicker stuff like white lithium grease will last a bit longer because it's thicker, but that spray stuff also works...you just may need to reapply it sooner than the thicker stuff. I actually used both. I used the thick stuff in the channel where the bushing is, and the spray stuff for hard to reach places. Good video!
Ah I’ve spotted Delrin ones on eBay.
Wondered if they’d be too stiff to be supporting a window where the rubber has some ‘give’ for the glass? Anyway I was wondering; are those bushes meant to rotate as they go up and down the guide rails?
Lithium hood shout for the bushes/ wheels and silicone spray oil good for inside the rubber guide on the door against where the small triangle glass is. Helps to slide the window in the rubber.
Do you need to put the plastic back on?
Yeah I did
Are you running toyo tires proxes t1r?
Yeah I am
I heard they Are good in summer weather but not in rain. Is that true??
They're really good in the dry. Struggle to skid at all but I've never driven it in the wet
Quick question, were the weather strips on your window quite stiff and old? one of mine is kinda rubbery but the other side is like rock, and the window goes down slow, I dont know if its a combination of both or what?
Yeah mine are both really stiff. I've been meaning to get new ones at some point
@@ProjectDriven ahh okay, yeah I'm tempted to get a new set but it's like £90, if I come across some extra cash I might have to!
This video is an casualty on my fucking ear drums
Where abouts are you from mate, down south?
Cory Banning I'm from suffolk
