Can You Beat Fallout: New Vegas If Every Door Is Randomized? (in text form)
Welcome to the Fallout New Vegas World Randomizer. Rooms and world spaces in Fallout New Vegas are officially called ‘cells’. The entire Mojave Wasteland as a world space is a cell, but so are all the individual locations within it. Doc Mitchell’s house, the Hoover Dam offices, the Legate’s Camp, the Boulder Dome, the vaults, Zion Canyon, Mr House’s Penthouse, the Narrator’s room, all of it. You can think of a cell as what exists on the other side of door with a loading screen. Normally you’d walk up to a door, press the button to open it, and you travel to location displayed next to your crosshair. From outside, activating the Prospector Saloon Door loads you into the Saloon. There’s a connection between the door and where you’re placed after the brief loading screen. What I’ve gone and done is found a mod that messes with that connection. Doors no longer send you to their normal predetermined destination. A couple do, I think I found 3 safety doors, just to keep the entire universe from being entirely unplayable.
What I’ve failed to mention is the door Randomizer will not be the only randomizer at play here. My original idea for this challenge was The Cabin In The Woods, the scene down in the basement with all the cells and the monsters wrecking havoc causing cavities all that stuff. As neat and as fascinating as it would be to have all the connections between your senses severed, it’s just not enough. I wanna smell with my skin and taste with my retinas. To that end, I activated the original tried and true classic barely a year old Fallout New Vegas randomizer mod as well. The World Randomizer deals with the big picture stuff, the frame, the framework, the glass covering up the sky, while the other randomizer messes with just about everything else. Weather effects are randomized, NPCs can spawn with any combination of weapons and armor, and any creature that isn’t a person is randomized too. Every single room is a dream of possibilities. I’ve got one more surprise in store but I’ll save that bombshell for later, the curtains have been drawn back, that my cue to be born. Doc Mitchell asked what my name was and I immediately started up the mind games by naming myself Doc Mitchell. I’ve always wanted to say someone’s name back at them when introducing myself, I just don’t have the moxy to pull it off. SPECIAL and Skills are randomized right off the bat, no need to mess with them. Wouldn’t know what I was doing anyway. Skills are in the same boat, I let Jesus take control the stick, starting off with Science feels wrong, Wild Wasteland is a must, and I did a quick smash and garb in the Doctor’s house before setting off for imagination destination.
For those of you checking, the link between doors is consistent, once you go through a door that's always the location that doors spits you out at. He doesn't say this until like 7 minutes in so I thought I'd help out.
If they didn't, you could just keep going back and forth between the same door until you were at the Battle of Hoover Dam, most likely.
@@benjaminoechsli1941 I dunno; is the battle a separate cell to the normal Hoover Dam or is it just a modified Dam cell? If it's just modified, then you'd need to find all the locations for the main story first innit

The reason your game became dark at the end is because some of the cave entrance doors have a script on them that reduces the brightness when you enter. The doors to exit that cell will have a script that increases your brightness back to default when you leave. But since the doors are randomized your game just becomes permanently dark.
So then theoretically it's possible to drain all light (or make it so bright that it's like staring at the sun) by going through a certain door over and over again? Or can they not stack?

Entering Cave A puts your brightness at X value.
Exiting it makes your brightness value Y.
So if you enter Cave B from cave A your brightness remains at X value instead of going to XY value.
@@SoggyCoffeeAddict last time I check, the darkness modifier stacks. Not sure about the brightness one though.

That happened to me once north east of bitter springs. There was a cave that messed up my vision and I had to come.back later to enter and exit it

Mods. Loads and loads of mods. Also the fact that they are open world sandbox RPGs, which means there are thousands of combinations where one could play a game differently, which makes for some funny challenges.

The same way a lot of UA-camrs are entertaining after playing the same game again and again. At some point we stop watching for the game and start watching for the person that's playing that game.

I always came back to this channel hoping for another upload, but then today I saw Pyrocynical's video about Mitten Squad's passing. I was upset at first, but upon checking his obituary linked in the subreddit I found out he was so close. I always knew he was a fellow Michigander, but he was buried not even ten minutes from where I live. Just made it hit a little closer to home and I couldn't help but cry a little. Rest In Peace.

If it's possible to enter the seed for a world kinda like Minecraft I feel like a New Vegas Randomized Door speedrun category would be really cool. Imagine if a seed is discovered that mathematically allows you to beat the game as quickly as possible and the entire community for the category became focused o lowering the run by mere milliseconds
like Super Mario Bros.
It isn't impossible, just have all the major locations be put into a major hub location that's reasonably close located to goodsprings.
Casinos are a good hub location too, all the doors unique entrance/exit points so some like the Tops have like 8 locations it can link to that are all right next to one another(and if you get there right away and can just blow up benny right away on your way through).

you could just make a mod that changes the doors in goodsprings to key locations. You wouldn't need to rely on chance by the randomizer that it'll make one.

That dark filter would unironically make for a good mod. I know there's a mod for dark nights but that one is pretty bad, you get either pitch black beyond 4 feet or just slightly darker vanilla nights. This actually looks like an all-encompassing darkness that is still visible enough to make things out if you try

I've done this a run few weeks ago and found that the darkness is tied to Camp Guardian if you happen to go into that area it can pretty much cause everything to go completely dark for the rest of the game. there is a mod that fixes it as well.
If memory serves it glitched Jon's game in his run as well. Is the area just unstable?
@@micahjones1451 The explanation I've seen is the area lowers your light level as you walk in and raises it again as you walk out. Since the doors are all randomized the trigger for raising your brightness again never happens. A similar thing can happen when you enter an area where they confiscate your weapons. You can end up never getting them back.

Had this happen to me one time. Walked outside my house after a couple drinks and ended up in a prison cell. 2/10 mod.

Thought I was walking into my buddy’s house, woke up in jail and getting charged with aggravated burglary and had to serve 6 months in jail 🙄🤦🏻♂️ they offered me 3 years probation OR serving a 6 month jail sentence. Knowing I would violate probation and be worse off, I chose to serve the 6 months in jail. I was only 19 at the time 🙄😏

Probably dark because you triggered something to decrease your brightness and it would probably correct itself if you left through the intended door but since it's random it couldn't trigger it and now you're screwed.
