    There he goes again, making me smile and feel better when I'm having a bad day. Charlie is wonderful. You can see how much he really loves the music.

    Just think of how many decades this wonderful artist's work spanned. 1910s to the 1970s. Remarkable!

    the greatest hollywood talent of all time and its not close. he wrote scores, produced, directed, did choreography, paid for, and oh by the way acted in many of his movies. unreal.

    Gustave Haenschen, who is seen sitting next to Abe Lyman against the wall of the temporary studio in Hollywood, is the person who made this session possible. He was the founding Director of Popular Music Recording at Brunswick Records, which released this and one other tune Chaplin had written. Note the recording “horns,” which is what the artists sang or played into before 1925, when microphones and electrical amplification replaced the process shown in this brief clip.

      I do not know if he was a good conductor, but he sure understood music and composed lots of it for his movies, or at least contributed to the compositions. He was 100% in control of his art, be it the visual, the script, the actors, or the music. I believe these recordings were made in tribute to him, which is why you cannot judge from this if he was a good conductor or not.
